This Hurts Me More Than It Hurts You

Far be it from me to rise in defense of the NY Times but...

Via Glenn, we see that Jeff Jarvis is blasting Sarah Boxer of the NY Times for a deplorable story about the bloggers at Iraq the Model.

However, although his many, many criticisms are well founded, Jeff goes awry here:

Note, by the way, that Boxer does use their full name. They don't even use it on their blogs. I am usually very critical of people who do not use their names on their weblogs -- but I do make an exception for those whose lives might be at risk if they did. I will still not use their full names here.

Unless I have gone awry myself, their last name was publicized by the Wall Street Journal last October.  (I say that assuming that "Ali Fadhil" is the fellow's first and last name.)  Lots of Google hits for that last name as well.

This is a minor point in a ghastly story.  If the Times is going to start recycling lunatic ravings from stray blogs, I suggest they come right here.

UPDATE:  Now Jeff has an update correcting himself on this point.  Bah!  Tomorrow, I stay in bed.

MORE:  The Bear delivers the last growl.

FWIW the BBC jumped on the same non-stroy and their effort was even lamer than the Times. I fisked theit effort here

Well, I think talking about them blogging is one thing, talking about your expectation that they are agents for the CIA or undercover Americans or American agents seems quite a bit beyond the pale.

This is good news--we're getting under their skin!

Just more media bias - they're pro American so are they CIA? What else could they be.

This definitely not a week for Boxers.
