From the Bush SOTU - I am not sure what I heard, but Bush seemed to be saying that he would work with Congress to establish new guidelines for embryonic stem cell research, subject to principles that seemed reasonable at first hearing. This seems like a big deal, and good news. As always, the devil is in the details.
I don't know if this is related, but placental and other tissue was never a real part of the so-called "ban", only artificially terminated growths.
"So-called" ban? Well, as Medpundit pointed out last Fall, stem-cell Federal research grants grew from one under Clinton to over twenty under Bush. Some "ban".
