Please Help Larry Johnson
We are having a bit of an off-site meeting of the Just One Minute regulars over at intel commentator Larry Johnson's blog, and he would welcome more visitors, and more intellectual firepower on his side.
In his comments section Mr. Johnson has made some statements linking the McCarthy and Plame situations that, in my humble opinion, will be hard to sustain. However, Jeff and Jim E could surely help him with his broad themes.
Let's also note that in his comments section Mr. Johnson currently seems to lean towards ad hominem as his primary (also secondary and tertiary) response, but please - let's leave that to the lesser lefties. Our motto - Trogs Rule!
MORE: Transportation will be provided.
HIGHLIGHT FILM: The full comments thread at "No Cojones" is a comedy classic, but Chants has provided an impressionistic highlight film here.

Plus he needs the hits to his blog. It would seem he doesn't generate much traffic on his own. I'm sure he woud appreciate our help.

LJ appears to be completely unhinged. I'm gonna take a shower!

There is a reason Larry Johnson doesn't get lot of hits.
Posted by: davod | April 24, 2006 at 06:45 PM
I was hoping for a field trip to a place with tastier fare. BTW he's been riding on that few years at the CIA for lob enough. I take it that's because the press finds quotes from an ex-DOS staffer noot as sexy..Are he and McGovern the only exes in their rolodex? Have they been cut off from google as a cost saving measure?
Posted by: clarice | April 24, 2006 at 06:50 PM
******LoNG enough******Not, not noot..
Posted by: clarice | April 24, 2006 at 06:51 PM
It should be very instructive that this left wing, nutso, windbag is the go to guy whenever the press needs a quote.
Who was it that talked about that 'hard working' press......yeah right.
Posted by: Patton | April 24, 2006 at 06:53 PM
He's gotten some of those "you talk too much"letters.
Posted by: SunnyDay | April 24, 2006 at 06:53 PM
Larry also blogs at something called tmpcafe. It's the offical home for credentialled moonbats.
Posted by: flenser | April 24, 2006 at 06:55 PM
Do I have to actually read there? I promise I will reload his page a few times while I read something else, OK?
Posted by: SunnyDay | April 24, 2006 at 06:55 PM
Sorry - just the memory of Larry Johnson's 4-point play against the Pacers in the '99 playoffs still hurts.
Posted by: Al | April 24, 2006 at 06:57 PM
You know, I'd really like to send his post to NRO media blog to help dispel the notion that Mary McCarthy stalled under Bush because she was regarded suspiciously as a Clinton appointee. The man clearly says she was a bad manager, which seems reason enough for one's managerial career to stall.
But can one be a good source and unhinged all at the same time? The NYTs thinks so, of course....they just don't mention the unhinged part.

OK, I made the trip. Where's my JOM merit badge?

you have to post to get a merit badge...if larry replies to you in all capps and calls you an asshole then you get a special JOM Ranger patch

As somebody mentioned over there, its scary and depressing to think that sombody with his obvious "issues" and limitations could survive and prosper within the CIA.
I've seen anonymous lefty trolls who displayed more integrity and maturity.
Posted by: flenser | April 24, 2006 at 07:09 PM
I love Larry's photo on his blog. He is standing on the OUTSIDE of the WH. That should tell us something.

Top,
I believe that trog is Moronic for troglodyte. I've never actually had occasion to study Moronic but occasional visits to certain sites have given me limited exposure to some common usages. Come to think of it, I doubt that any sentient being has actually studied Moronic. Fluency is probably hereditary - if one member of the family stalk is fluent, all are.
Posted by: Rick Ballard | April 24, 2006 at 07:12 PM
I never get a merit badge.
BTW, I admit being surprised about something: Larry Johnson, CIA expert and source that launched a thousand Times disinformation articles had a grand total of four years at CIA? That's about the equivalent of a corporal . . . (not that a corporal isn't necessarily a good source, but that wasn't the impression I got from the stories).

--As somebody mentioned over there, its scary and depressing to think that sombody with his obvious "issues" and limitations could survive and prosper within the CIA.--
IIRC he was only at the CIA a couple years...that is what is so "trog" and sicko of Larry -- his ego requires he be billed as an expert of which he spent very little time.

--I never get a merit badge.--
You get one now, for beating me to the 4 year expert!

Windansea,
I did post. Then I switched keyboards (the one I used is now sitting in a bucket of bleach). Then I showered and now I'm back. I'll never know from personal observation as to whether or not Mr. Johnson replied.
I still want my merit badge - others may try for the Ranger tab, the cost in bleach and time is too high for me.
Posted by: Rick Ballard | April 24, 2006 at 07:17 PM
'No Quarter', eh? Somehow reminds me of the song "Here's a Quarter, Call Someone Who Cares".
Posted by: Dr. Weevil | April 24, 2006 at 07:18 PM
and here is Rand..right on cue
The fired official, Mary O. McCarthy, “categorically denies being the source of the leak,” one of McCarthy’s friends and former colleagues, Rand Beers, said Monday after speaking to McCarthy. Beers said he could not elaborate on this denial and McCarthy herself did not respond to a request for comment left by NEWSWEEK on her home answering machine.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12466719/site/newsweek
that's tough to square with reports that she confessed to discussing classified info with several reporters
maybe she is pulling a Russert

I still want my merit badge - others may try for the Ranger tab, the cost in bleach and time is too high for me.
I'll let you know...after I made this post
**thanks for all the lovely quotes Larry...they will really spice up the article!**
he stopped posting in ALL CAPS MORONIC so maybe only Tom and Sue will get the Ranger patch
Posted by: windansea | April 24, 2006 at 07:26 PM
“categorically denies being the source of the leak”
If you were looking at the potential for ten years in Stony Lonesome, what would you say? Tricky locution though - what's the difference between being a 'source' and giving 'confirmation'? As someone else mentioned, maybe she's an 'I heard that, too' source.
If Priest said she wasn't her 'source' then I really, really think that a warrant is in order for Ms. Priest's records.

Wow, does he admit that on his blog?
Squiggler posted the link just as I was ready to turn in:
NYT "Moves Signal Tighter Secrecy Within C.I.A."
As I try to make habit of going to bed on positive note:
Can dreams come true?
Could this be Larry?
Moves Signal Tighter Secrecy Within C.I.A.
By SCOTT SHANE and MARK MAZZETTI
Yet another agency retiree, who has in the past received warning letters from the C.I.A. after occasionally publishing articles without seeking approval, said he had recently gotten a far more strongly worded letter. This one informed him that a file had been opened to document his transgressions that could be forwarded to the Justice Department, he said.

Lots of VIPS to choose from.
Shame that the "journalists"
SCOTT SHANE and MARK MAZZETTI
don't think we have a "right to
know".

Shall I take these over and ask the questions?
Shall I risk Old Betsy's 97 Gateway's innards?
Please advise. Opportunities to earn badges or otherwise severly limited lately.

Holy cow!! Even the CIA are just chanting the leftie bumper sticker slogans. They don't know anything!!
And on the local front, I read in the Pasadena Star News that the long-time LA Times restaurant critic is a former CIA agent!! Guess what he was doing all those years overseas?
I always thought the point of the CIA was to protect America!! At least we have dedicated Federal Prosecutors working tirelessly to keep us safe. Oh, wait...

hey dont forget val and larry went to spy schooltogether.my guess is there both loosers.

The CIA- Protecting Americans everywhere from a bad meal.
I actually have a CIA cookbook. I'm going to look at it differently now.

McCarthy's lawyer, Ty Cobb, told NEWSWEEK this afternooon that contrary to public statements by the CIA late last week, McCarthy never confessed to agency interrogators that she had divulged classified information and "didn't even have access to the information" in The Washington Post story in question.
After being told by agency interrogators that she may have been deceptive on one quesiton during a polygraph, McCarthy did acknowledge that she had failed to report contacts with Washington Post reporter Dana Priest and at least one other reporter, said a source familiar with her account who asked not to be identified because of legal sensitivities. McCarthy has known Priest for some time, the source said.

"Mary McCarthy, is an old acquaintance. I hasten to add that I do not consider her a friend. She was my immediate boss in 1988-89 and was instrumental in my decision to leave the CIA and take a job at the State".
Presumably the cock crowed thrice as he was writing this.
Posted by: PeterUK | April 24, 2006 at 07:42 PM
LOL...there's a scary larry quote in the newsweek article too...I guess Rand and Larry are the only Intel guys in the MSM rolodex...this article is just what you would expect from Newsweak
Posted by: windansea | April 24, 2006 at 07:43 PM
Hey! Field Trip and I didn't know. I didn't have a note from my mom anyway.
That guy's blog is deranged. I read through some of it yesterday when someone linked it up. Seems pretty pointless to talk to them.

Yes, he said he got the "talk too much" letters, Can't remember where it was - I have read soooo many places about this. But he was identified in what I read. maybe I'll come across it again.

Well, I definitely deserve the badge. I've been called sweetheart (I don't think he meant it in a nice way), moron, asshole, AQ operative...that should earn me my badge. All the while taking it on the chin. Never once retaliating with ad homs (not my style, dang it).
Posted by: Sue | April 24, 2006 at 07:58 PM
Mr Uk,
I was thinking more of Michael kissing Fredo but your metaphor works a bit better.
There is definitely a noticeable stench of fear hanging in the air. Considering the depth of conviction among the possible conspirators it's very understandable. They will not hang together which may make hanging them separately a bit easier.
Posted by: Rick Ballard | April 24, 2006 at 07:58 PM
Sue- you and Larry have a Hepburn and Tracy thing about you.
Posted by: MayBee | April 24, 2006 at 08:07 PM
