And if Cartier would send me its latest watch, I'd gladly write up how wonderful it is. Ditto, Blackgama.
Just saying.......

Blackgama? I must be painfully out of the loop. Would this be a Christmas gift my better half would see as being worthy?

Especially gotgeous mink coats.

GMAX: I posted a sizeable excerpt of Bruce Kessler's review in the other thread, but to answer your question, he says:
This is the most important book you’ll buy this year.
Oh sorry, not Blackgama, the Swift Boat book.

**goRgeous* though gotgeous is pretty funny.

The sample chapter they've made available on the website--about the Dan Rather Memogate fisco--is pretty well written, but it is only half the story of how the CBS story was demolished.
They only explain how the blogs determined the memos were word processed and not typed. Not a word about the factual errors in the memos, such as Bush being ordered to take a flight physical three months before it was due, and being ordered to take it on Mother's Day when there would have been no one at the base to administer it.

Where does one find the sample chapter?
I continue to wonder: inasmuch as Boone Pickens's offer of a million bucks was made to "anyone"--not just John Kerry--who could prove any SwiftVet allegation false, why have none of the journalists who routinely describe those allegations as "discredited" come forward to claim the prize? Do they simply not like money?
Posted by: Other Tom | December 05, 2007 at 06:54 PM
OT that's so good, and you said it before and I said so then. I'll blog it.
Posted by: clarice | December 05, 2007 at 06:57 PM
Other Tom, they can't win the money and they know it but they don't want it proven they can't because then they couldn't keep using words like "discredited" or "unsubstantiated."
Posted by: Sara | December 05, 2007 at 07:06 PM
Know what I don't get? The whole story started because Kerry made so much of his Swift Boat service. He trotted out all these guys who must have been good guys because they, too, served on Swift Boats. Yet by the end of it, the worst slur Kerry could think of using was 'swiftboating'.
It's like Hoffa complaining he had been 'unionized'.

To turn that around, why did John Fauntleroy Kerry take up the challenge,or rather say he would ? He has gone very quiet since, perhaps Treeza won't up his allowance.

Why Shep Smith drives me batty.
In announcing an upcoming press conference about the Omaha mall shooting, he said that one of the shooting victims would speak, one of the survivors.
I'm so happy to know that it is a surviving victim and not one of the 9 dead. Thank you Shep for clarifying it for me.

" Dedication
To Set The Record Straight is dedicated to the American veterans of the Vietnam War, who served with courage and honor."
And did not lie about their fellow veterans or aid the Viet Cong/North Vietnamese in their fight against us.

He is a dope.OTOH it's easy to make mistakes when speaking extemporaneously under pressure. It's when he goes around the bend by design that I find him ridiculous.

Huffingtonpost.com has spun off a new sight called 23/6 (www.236.com)
It's worse than the former, if that's possible. It has video of children spinning their truth and they call it "SwiftKids".

I got this link from the Anchoress, who was all in a dither because she scored 95% for Romney and wasn't even sure she knew what he looks like.
She did not declare for any candidate during the test.
I did declare for Romney, and was a little nervous that someone else might come up, but my score was 95.19% for him.
So, take the test and see who scores highest on your list. Hillary came in just above those three.
My very bottom tier was Biden, Dodd, Kucinich.
Posted by: Sara | December 05, 2007 at 09:06 PM
Oops. This should be reversed and read:
My very bottom tier was Biden, Dodd, Kucinich.
Hillary came in just above those three at 33.4%.

It's a stupid test, Sara. Are you for abortion rights, for example? Well, yes under some circumstances but not all.
Posted by: clarice | December 05, 2007 at 09:13 PM
Isn't it odd, that John F-ing Kerry just dropped off the face of the MSM earth the minute Boone Pickens spelled out the terms of "proof."
Instead of coming back with any proof, he simply went "poof." Disappearing into the thick air of the Heinz mansion.
I hope the book that is the subject of this post gets a little media play and sends a few shivers up his cowardly spine.

It's worth reading Bruce Kesler's 12/19/04 op-ed.

Hanoi John only made the threat against the Swiftboat (To Tell The Truth) vets because he got the word a now book was coming out that would again paint him as the traitor he is. Maybe Momma 'T' is tired of wasting her money on the slime ball.

Bruce Kesler's Article
As Kim said, "It is worth reading".
Posted by: pagar | December 06, 2007 at 06:07 AM
There are a lot of vets who are thankful that Kerry brought it up again. Many who were against the war got a resolution.

Sara,
I think it is rigged for Romney. I scored 96.21% for him with Hunter, Huckabee and Tancredo coming in right behind him. No freaking way Romney is more conservative than Hunter.
Posted by: Sue | December 06, 2007 at 09:19 AM
For the record, I answered conservative on all of the questions to see what the results would be. I figured it would be Hunter, or Fred, certainly not Mitt.
Posted by: Sue | December 06, 2007 at 09:20 AM
The best part was silky came in 3rd from the bottom, with only Gravel and Kucinich scoring lower.
Posted by: Sue | December 06, 2007 at 09:24 AM
Okay, I retook it choosing liberal all the way. Kucinich is my choice with Fred coming in dead last. I knew Mitt wasn't the most conservative.
Posted by: Sue | December 06, 2007 at 09:25 AM
You know Gephart/Kucinich would have won in 2004. They'd have taken Missouri and Ohio and not lost a blue state.

Kerry's first big mistake was selecting Edwards instead of Gephart as his veep.

Kerry's first big mistake was winning the nomination.

Kerry's first big mistake wan announcing that he was going to be "the next JFK from Massachusetts."
Posted by: Other Tom | December 06, 2007 at 10:49 AM
Is the T Boone Pickens challenge published anywhere along with terms and conditions? Why spend any effort on something where Pickens will change the goalpost as he did when Kerry took up the offer?
Posted by: Pete | December 06, 2007 at 10:53 AM
Ok-You guys have me there. Let me change that to --one of his many mistakes was selecteing Edwards instead of Gephart.I can't imaginw why he did that--except that Edwards was rich and cuter.
Posted by: clarice | December 06, 2007 at 11:22 AM
He probably thought Edwards would help him in the South. Oops!
Posted by: Porchlight | December 06, 2007 at 11:31 AM
Pete, the two have exchanged letters. But please, keep asking questions. There are lots of people interested in what Kerry has to say. Lots more than are interested in hearing what Pickens has to say. So keep it coming. Louder. LOUDER.
Let's see the pix, too.

Posted by: kim | December 06, 2007 at 12:43 PM
The fact is, Pete, this will remain newsworthy until the verb 'to Swiftboat' takes its rightful place in the dictionary and the understanding of the American people. And it will surely happen, because Kerry did catalyze an important moment in our history.
Historical canards, like lame ducks, seldom last. Some surely stink it up for awhile, though.

Posted by: kim | December 06, 2007 at 12:46 PM
John Kerry's big mistake was to take up the cause of the enemy while the same enemy was killing Americans in Vietnam.
Posted by: pagar | December 06, 2007 at 02:14 PM
It is possible, but difficult, to be both a genuine War Hero and a genuine Anti-War Hero. To pull it off, one must be both, and Kerry was only the latter.

Unless you think schizophrenia is the highest form of patriotism, I guess that's right.
Posted by: clarice | December 06, 2007 at 02:33 PM
Pete,
I don't think Pickens changed the goalposts. He merely stated that the proof needed to satisfy the following conditions and that anything less would not constitute proof. otherwise Kerry would mock up a Wikipedia website and claim that as proof - and he is fully capable of doing just that.
Posted by: dick | December 06, 2007 at 05:18 PM
He didn't demand Kerry put up a million to play either, now that I think of it. He suggested it would be a good gesture on Kerry's part.
