We can probably expect vote fraud again in Wisconsin and Missouri, very close and swing states, unfortunately. And in many other places such as Washington state, but probably not so crucial.

Pofarmer

Now if Jay Nixon would just investigate the vote fraud on St. Louis and Kansas City instead of shaking down our utility companies or trying to figure out if Matt Blunt disposed of any lusty e-mails.

In a Washington Post op-ed, Jolie urges a continued U.S. presence in Iraq for humanitarian reasons

Ha, so Baron Frankenstien has secretly perfected brain transplantation, and in Hollywood of all places. Yet I suspect it was Igor who really 'invented' it.

Ann

This is for JOM internet research experts:

I have tried to find speeches given by Susan Rice, Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs under President Bill Clinton and now Barack Obama's Senior Foreign Policy Adviser.

They seemed to have been scrubbed. She appeared at Missouri State in 2005 at the COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS and the title of her presentation was: "The National Security Implications of Global Poverty and Inequality: Africa's Strategic Importance to the US

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.missouristate.edu/chpa/Newsletters/fa05ne15.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.missouristate.edu/chpa/Newsletters/fa05news.htm&h=221&w=181&sz=16&hl=en&start=6&um=1&tbnid=rg7L5ci5-H9ULM:&tbnh=107&tbnw=88&prev=/images%3Fq%3DSusan%2BRice%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den-us%26sa%3DG

If I were a enterprising journalist, I might write an article about the differences between Dr. Condi Rice and Dr. Susan Rice... but since i can't place a comma correctly,I hope someone will research this for the good of us all. The MSM will not do it and the election will be over before we know what we voted into office!

ben

I hope Angelina is ready to deal with the Hollywood thought police, who will probably try to enroll her in a "re-educational" facility for ideological misfits. Barbra will probably be issuing an edict about it soon.

clarice

In the words of Mickey Rooney "Let's Put On A Show"..I think we need a JOM production of Hussein
Obama Superstar..

Syl

And that would make him different from McCain, HOW?

Well, I did say it was interesting for us to ponder as well. :)

But we don't have the same clarity of primary results to sift through as the Dems do. From the beginning the Dems had only two candidates with a significant number of votes. And our primary season pretty much ended after FL.

BTW, I think the Reps will warm up to voting against Obama whereas I think the Dems have peaked.

Syl

er, after Super Tuesday, I mean. And that was essentially split three ways.

J. Peden

"I hope Angelina is ready to deal with the Hollywood thought police, who will probably try to enroll her in a "re-educational" facility for ideological misfits."

Oh oh, just maybe the Baron screwed up again and gave her a coveted Liberal Blank Slate.

Ann:

I'm afraid I mostly remember Susan Rice commenting, shallowly, on the tube.

Apologies if this has already been posted somewhere, but did folks see the hysterical Michael Kinsley piece on the McCain "romance" in the New York Times last Monday?

To be absolutely clear: the Times itself was not suggesting that there had been an affair, or even that there had been the appearance of an affair. The Times was reporting that there was a time eight years ago when some people felt there might be the appearance of an affair, although others, apparently including Sen. McCain himself, apparently felt that there was no such appearance.

Similarly, I am not accusing the New York Times of screwing up again by publishing an insufficiently sourced article then defending itself with a preposterous assertion that it wasn't trying to imply what it obviously was trying to imply. I am merely reporting that some people worry that other people might be concerned that the New York Times has created the appearance of screwing up once again.

He carries on formidably, and amusingly, for multiple paragraphs.

clarice

Actually Barbra is for Hill and Hill's position when she was not trying to out commie Barack wasn't all that different.
Niters.

J. Peden

BTW, I think the Reps will warm up to voting against Obama whereas I think the Dems have peaked.

A very good thought, indeed! I'm warming up to the idea, but in the Dem Primary here in Or. where, by chance, I had to re-register. So I hesitated, then registered D.. I'd thought I was going to have to vote for B.O. just to keep it close, but now Hillary looks more in need. If she stays true to her Malignant Narcissist form and keeps fighting after next tuesday regardless, maybe my vote will count - in the interests of seeing a big Dem fight, and maybe even on T-V.

Also, is the MSM salivating yet over the propects of a 2000+ battle, or only still very nuancedly conflicted about, you know, doing the "right" thing?

RichatUF

Ann-

I'll put it on the stack for the weekend. Seems that before she worked at State, she warmed JW's seat at the NSC and she was involved in UN Peacekeeping in the 1993-96 time frame...great choice for a foreign policy advisor.

Patrick Tyson

GMax—

Thanks for the Texas update. I have family in the panhandle and that's the part of Texas I've most often visited.

Ann:

You can download a PDF at this link to Susan Rice's Poverty and Civil War: What Policymakers Need to Know. Scroll past the abstract down to the icons under "SSRN Electronic Paper Collection."

Using this search string in Google eliminates a lot of the most recent Obama-related results: "susan rice" 1997..2001

It turned up a fair amount of stuff from interviews, to articles in the Washington Post, including this rather wild thing about her from the LaRouche crowd. Not sure precisely what kind of thing you're looking for, but maybe that search will help a little in your quest.

JM Hanes

Ann:

Meant to say that if you're looking for earlier stuff you can change the year range I used. Just put two periods (no spaces) between the years you have in mind. It's a pretty blunt instrument no matter what time frame you're actually aiming for, but anything that eliminates 40,000+ results can't be all bad. :)

JM Hanes

OK, last call here:

Perennial JOM favorite, Jay Rockefeller endorses Obama. I knew ya'll would want to be among the first to celebrate. Here he is, as quoted by Marc Ambinder (has anybody else noticed that some of the Atlantic folks are pretty casual about providing links to original material?):

As Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, I am all too aware that the threats we face are unconventional. They are sophisticated. They are constantly changing and adapting. And they are very serious. What matters most in the Oval Office is sound judgment and decisive action. It’s about getting it right on crucial national security questions the first time – and every time.

The indisputable fact is Barack Obama was right about Iraq when many of us were wrong. It was a tough call and the single greatest national security question, and mistake, of our time. Today, we remain a country at war, and countless mistakes over the last six and a half years have made us less safe. The stakes have never been higher, and that is why we must take a stand.

The snark on this one almost writes itself, doesn't it?

clarice

Yes, it does.
I never liked that man.

PeterUK

Oh good,Jay Rockefeller endorses Forename Obama, now we can play Kevin Bacon with Bashar al Assad.

Tom Maguire

BTW, I think the Reps will warm up to voting against Obama whereas I think the Dems have peaked.

I am warming to the task, although I do remain grateful to the man who shot Liberty Valence, as it were.

However, the Clinton boosters have offered all sorts of attack plans. One of them is that Obama just comes off as smug and superior; awkward when yur opponent is an older woman, and potentialy dreadful when your oppoenent is genuine hero McCain.

Points to ponder - can Obama really increase the em share of the black vote, up from about 90% Or can he increase registration notably Dems have worked that for years.

Against that, won't McCain have a lot of oldster appeal, which cuts into a Dem base, especially against a whippersnapper with all the answers but no middle name?

That said, the idea that we could have war, recession, and a madly unpopular President, and yet McCain still has a good shot at winning really does say a lot about the weakness of the Dem party. If they had presented a serious Governor or a respected middle aged white male Senator, this race would not be competitive. Instead, they offer up a First Lady Senator and a feel-good social experiment.

Oblivious

Never before have I seen something so dumb.
I'm not allowed to use his middle name?
Get out of here.
Governor Bush was called "Dumbya", remember?
Everyone jumps at shadows that aren't there.
Rove himself couldn't come up with a better campaign issue.

Tom Maguire

Rove himself couldn't come up with a better campaign issue.

America is not ready for a hyper-sensitive black man? Or, to be fair (As If!), America is not ready for a black man with hyper-sensitive supporters and spouses?

Time will tell.

Mac

Wonder if the MSM would be interested in middle names if one of the candidates in the other party sported Adolf between his first and last names? Nah. Probably not. Too principled.

Dennis

With a First name like "Barack"...a middle name like "Hussein"...and a last name that strange as this may sound..actually rhymes with "Osama" it seems like He should probably go to court and CHANGE the whole darned thing...what the heck..he can always switch back...and at least deliver on one campaign promise. That would be his "Change and switch" political platform.. which is SO much stronger than Hill's "Switch and Change" ideas.

hit and run

TM:
OK, who is "they"?

Don't forget another mysterious "they"

That "they" eventually were successful. Would that that "they" could do the same with Michelle.

GMax

No fair harshing on the buzz TM. People are fainting, time after time in the aisle at rallies and you want to get rationale and analytical? Cant you see this guy was meant to be President? If there was any justice for a semi black man, we would just stop the contest now and declare that its his birthright.

Now repeat after me, "YES, yes we can." Repeat.

moptop

My favorite little thing? When you type Obama, MS Spellcheck suggests "Osama."

kim

His birthright: Forty fakirs and Michelle. What a lucky guy!

Indaga

See, y'all gotta understand the code. Since I'm black, I can decode the portentous "THEY" word.

When a black person uses that weighted pronoun 'THEY,' the meaning is clear to another black person (or supposed to be). I'm another black person; during my brief tenure in the classroom (I lasted only one year), I heard students say "THEY won't let a nigger ... [you add your own verb])." I was supposed to understand who "THEY" were. I was also supposed to understand who the "nigger" was, and I was supposed to understand that the "nigger" was impotent before the ominpotence of "THEY."

Let's extrapolate to Mrs Obamamessiah; when Michelle Obama, in her infinite asininity, employs the omnipotent "THEY," all you white boys (why are white women never included in "THEY"?) hear it and tremble. She's meaning YOU. She's not seeing you as individuals (however helpful you are or however willing you are to vote for Obamamessiah); instead, she sees your color. She thinks you are racist SOBs who'll do anything to keep a "nigger" down. That's why she thinks y'all are using the middle-name-that-must-not-be-spoken.

Now, let's take it to the max. What is Michelle Obamamessiah really saying? America is racist. Whites are racist, even the whites who are supporting Obamamessiah and who belong to his party. If they weren't racist, they wouldn't be using his middle name which reminds people that Obamamessiah is "different." In case you're not seeing his color (in case you're not really racist), you're racist cuz you know and are willing to use his middle name. You're racist, racist, racist, racist, racist. You can't win cuz you're "THEY!"

If you think that this is disconnected from what the Obamamessiahs learn in "church" from their virulently racist pastor who preaches the racism of America, you're nuts. In Michelle's rant, you discover what the Obamamessiahs really think of y'all whites. Listen to it and weep, baby!

Pretty good, Michelle; you found real expertise in Juan Cole. In linguistics, yes, geopolitics, sadly lacking.

Payday Loan

I admire Obama’s stand on payday loans. Although payday loans are helpful, these companies should be used warily. I would like to share with you some very informative articles here. http://personalmoneystore.com/moneyblog/
