Spitzer Linked To Prostitution Ring
Mr. Clean has a new problem. The good news - his involvement with a prostitution ring seems to be as a client, not an owner/operator.
I can only imagine the laughter on Wall Street right now. But after a few phone calls, I won't need to imagine it.
Hmm - maybe he could offer the ladies driver's licenses...
A HARD DAY'S NIGHT FOR SPITZER: Number 9... Number 9... Number 9...
TigerHawk piles on, with lots of malicious links. Let me single this out:
Stephen Bainbridge is closer to the mark: "Is schadenfreude a sin? If so, I’m sinning big time today."
I would have written that if I thought I could have spelled "schadenfreude". As to whether it is a sin, funny you should ask (I think we are good to go on the schadenfreude binging).
YA THINK? "Prostitution link tarnishes Spitzer's "clean" image". Reuters, on a limb.
THE REAL QUESTION - IS IT GOOD FOR HILLARY? OK, hands up if you knew that New York's Lieutenant Governor is both black and legally blind. Spitzer had endorsed Hillary, but the winds may shift.

Geez, I tried so hard to break this news I posted it 3 times!
Is he trying to deflect from the Rezko trial? I thought he was on Hillary's side.

Well there are three possible roles here for young Elliott, the two you mention and then of course he could be a provider instead of user or owner. Given he is an elected politician its already well within the known job description.

He visited on Feb 13th, the Emporer's Ring got busted and he got sold down the river. He's about to give a statement.
He's married with 3 kids.
Will he resign?
Posted by: Jane | March 10, 2008 at 02:40 PM
The only politicians that resign when caught with their pants down, are ones with a shred of conscience. Given he is a Democrat, I think that leaves him out. Who is the Lt Gov of NY, its not like the name just rolled off our toungues now does it?
Posted by: GMax | March 10, 2008 at 02:43 PM
Oh I bet Andrew Cuomo is waiting in the wings...
(Lots of really unattractive democrats in NY)
Posted by: Jane | March 10, 2008 at 02:45 PM
Lt. Governor Paterson, who is legally blind,
Posted by: Jane | March 10, 2008 at 02:45 PM
This self-promotion is disgusting!
Spitzer is blatantly pandering to the Democrat party to wrestle the Vice Presidential bid away from Barack L. Ron Obama.
Posted by: capitano | March 10, 2008 at 02:47 PM
Cell phone records were used to catch him! IT'S BUSH'S FAULT!

Ha Ha ha ha ha ha hah hahhha hahhah
Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy--Wait..I guess since Foley and the change in Congress we're back to it's just about sex, nothing to bother about here, can't we all get along, old news, yadayadayada..
But seriously, his many, many allies and friends will surely leap to his defense..............
Ha Ha ha ha ha ha hah hahhha hahhah

Why am I not surprised. What goes around comes around. He is toast!

Spitzer will resign!!!!!
Posted by: Jane | March 10, 2008 at 02:58 PM
Gee maybe he can go work on Wall Street now.
Posted by: Jane | March 10, 2008 at 02:58 PM
This being a high class blog and all, I guess a headline of "Spitzer Swallows" would be non-couth.
Posted by: BumperStickerist | March 10, 2008 at 03:00 PM
He has three daughters. What a toad!
Posted by: Ann | March 10, 2008 at 03:02 PM
In a few months time he'll have cranked out a confessional memoir, been healed by Dr Phil on Oprah and making millions on his tell all book.
Why doesn
t stuff like this happen to me, damnit!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: clarice | March 10, 2008 at 03:04 PM
While use of prostitutes gets you some lousy newspaper headlines, I do not notice that it actually has ever forced a politician out of office.
(David Vitter anyone?)

AP MOD
90,000 grand in the freezer doesn't either.
Posted by: Topsecretk9 | March 10, 2008 at 03:08 PM
I just heard the name of the Lt Gov, David Patterson I believe. He is not only an African American but is legally blind, so the Democrats will get a two-fer with this battlefield promotion, if Spitzer does step down.
Posted by: GMax | March 10, 2008 at 03:08 PM
He has been indicted by the Southern District and will resign. This is a bombshell.
Posted by: Sara | March 10, 2008 at 03:10 PM
Hypocrisy will get you every time.
Posted by: Sara | March 10, 2008 at 03:11 PM
How indicted in the SDNY ? How many politicians survive an indictment? ( besides Frezer Jefferson I mean ). Cuz it apparently has already happened.
Not to mention the ties starting to come out about the Gambino crime syndicate owning the "Agency".
And how about the hypocricy that apparently knows no Earthly bounds. Mr. cleaning up corruption Spitzer, being involved in a quite a bit of it himself...
Posted by: GMax | March 10, 2008 at 03:12 PM
Oh good gawd, One of Hillary's supporters just said on Fox that this will eclipse the Miss. primary tomorrow with a smile on her face.
Posted by: Ann | March 10, 2008 at 03:13 PM
John Edwards type fees
$5500 bucks an hour --That's more than most ambulance chasers make. When word of this gets out Harvard law school will be begging people to enroll.
Posted by: clarice | March 10, 2008 at 03:14 PM
What great news!
I'm POSITIVE there's more to the story than that he went to a prostitute once.

Eliot Spitzer: “Client Number 9"
I thought it took a dead woman or a live boy.

$5500 bucks an hour
I definitely chose the wrong career. LOL.
Apparently they have his cell phone records linking him as well as some other info from the Emperors Club VIP.
Posted by: Sara | March 10, 2008 at 03:19 PM
A SEALED indictment since Feb. 7th. Love those sealed indictments, not.
Posted by: Sara | March 10, 2008 at 03:22 PM
The Emperors Club had a stable of 50 girls that serviced clients in New York, Washington, LA, San Francisco, Chicago, Miami, Las Vegas, London, Paris and Vienna.
Wonder, if he is the only one?
Greta/Fox: she has known him for twenty years, he made a bad mistake and she feels sorry for him. BOO HOO
Posted by: Ann | March 10, 2008 at 03:24 PM
Come along Jomsters, stop this unseemly gloating. The lawyers amongst you should be thinking of his future ex-wife,she will need representation.

I can almost assure you that the NY Senate majority leader has been unable to repress a smile this past hour or so.

In case you are curious about the adventures of Client #9, you can find them on pages 25-30 here. The icky bit is at the end of the selection (pp 29-30).

"Eliot Spitzer: “Client Number 9"
Come in Number Nine, your time's up.
Posted by: PeterUK | March 10, 2008 at 03:30 PM
Spitzer is always trying to grab all the TV "face-time".
What are Obama and Clinton to do ?
A 1975 movie staring Susan George comes to mind.
Posted by: Neo | March 10, 2008 at 03:30 PM
Not only did he not use the word resign in the brief statement, but apparently at this moment he has not. How utterly typical..
Posted by: GMax | March 10, 2008 at 03:31 PM
Aaaah, Greta has the paperwork. She says it is not an indictment, but a sealed complaint by an FBI agent.
Posted by: Sara | March 10, 2008 at 03:33 PM
I just can't resist ..
A SEALED indictment since Feb. 7th. Love those sealed indictments, not.
Hey, what ever happened to Karl Rove's pending indictment in "Sealed v Sealed ?
That intrepid reporter (gag) Jason Leopold owes everybody a few names of his sources.

What this guy did to Dick Grasso--who practically single handidly got the stock market going shortly after 9/11--was unconscionable.
Wall Street folks have every reason to break out the champagne.

I've been hearing those Levitra commercials on TV, more than 4 hours could be dangerous.

Democrat play book, play #2,943:
1. Say you'll resign.
2. Check polls.
3. If necessary, resign.
4. Cut back-room deals with unions.
5. Once moderates are appeased, run for governor again.
6. Win with union support.
7. Use more discreet prostitution ring.
Posted by: Dave | March 10, 2008 at 03:41 PM
Most newswires forgot he is a Democrat...but of course had he been a Republican, his picture would have had an R emblazoned on his forehead.
Posted by: ben | March 10, 2008 at 03:42 PM
Want to bet me that NY taxpayer funds are involved?
Posted by: GMax | March 10, 2008 at 03:42 PM
"6. Win with union support."
Hookers have a union?
Posted by: ben | March 10, 2008 at 03:43 PM
four hours
At $5,500 an hour, that's $22,000.
So who paid the bill ? His campaign fund ? The taxpayers of New York state ?

Via AP thru Fox:
Governor caught on Federal wiretap.

I guess that Spitzer could claim that he had a Broad stance, and the broad was named "Kristen".
