Joseph Stack crashed his small plane into an IRS office building in Austin, TX. Stack is the only confirmed fatality but one person is unaccounted for.
Here is what is almost surely his suicide note. Stephen Spruiell wonders what political label belongs to a guy who hates organized religion, big corporations, George Bush, and especially, the IRS, but favors massive health care reform to rein in Big Pharma and Big Insurance.
I'm not finding any political contributions at the FEC site for a Joesph Andrew Stack or J A Stack of TX or CA.
MORE: The guy was a software engineer who posted his suicide note to the internet, so eventually his "handle" will be discovered and we will peruse his musings at the Daily Kos or Huffington Post or Red State.
If I had to put him in a political box I would say that right now the 24/7 economic populism of the Tea Party probably held him more than the here today-gone tomorrow populism of Barack Obama. But I wouldn't be surprised if Stack had a thing for the anti-corporate Nader or Kucinich back in the day, or maybe Ron Paul.
Can I just pick the box labeled "wacko"?
Busy day down here; oh, and Joe Stack says hi.

The fact he accurately quoted the Communist Manifesto, and made up something called the "capitalist manifesto", is indicative.

Evidently he should have called Tax Masters. What is it that the bearded guy Patrick Cox says about the IRS will aggressively pursue you. Well, it looks Joe did the same to them. But, seriously, this is a guy who was a "contractor" and not an employee and like Turbo Tax Timmy Geithner did not always declare his income and taxes and was finally caught over a period of years. He used a lot of the same angry epithets that the Tea Partiers use but he is not one. Tea Party people are angry at taking their taxes and spending them like there is no tomorrow. This guy didn't pay his taxes and his excuse is that GM and Enron and Bush and the Catholics some how are to blame because of their perceived larceny or deception for him not understanding the tax code as it applies to independent contractors. For a guy smart enough to get a BS somewhere, work as a software engineer, get his private pilots license, etc. he used his own apathy and lethargy to not do his fair share.
However, this is another clarion call for the "Fair Tax".

"CBN Exclusive: Five Muslim Soldiers Arrested at Fort Jackson in South Carolina
CBN News has learned exclusively that five Muslim soldiers at Fort Jackson in South Carolina were arrested just before Christmas and are in custody. The five men were part of the Arabic Translation program at the base.
The men are suspected of trying to poison the food supply at Fort Jackson.
A source with intimate knowledge of the investigation, which is ongoing, told CBN News investigators suspect the "Fort Jackson Five" may have been in contact with the group of five Washington, DC area Muslims that traveled to Pakistan to wage jihad against U.S. troops in December. That group was arrested by Pakistani authorities, also just before Christmas.
Coming as it does on the heels of November's Fort Hood jihadist massacre, this news has major implications.
Stay tuned to this blog for more details".

Davebo: From Fox News:
The U.S. Army is investigating allegations that soldiers were attempting to poison the food supply at Fort Jackson in South Carolina.
The ongoing probe began two months ago, Chris Grey, a spokesman for the Armyās Criminal Investigation Division, told Fox News.
The Army is taking the allegations āextremely seriously,ā Grey said, but so far, "there is no credible information to support the allegations."
The suspects were part of a Arabic translation program called "09 Lima" and use Arabic as their first language, two sources told Fox News. Another military source said they were Muslim.
Grey would not confirm or deny the sourcesā information.
Fox News' Catherine Herridge contributed to this report.

Hi MayBee - everything's fine here, thanks. I live and work a fair bit south of the Echelon building. But my co-worker lives just a few blocks away and drives by it every day.
FWIW her BIL used to work in the Echelon complex and said they did fire drills constantly, what with the FBI and IRS being there. He thinks that's what helped them evacuate so fast and efficiently.
Local news is doing a good job of coverage, I think. They don't seem to be wildly speculating like some of the national people (*cough* Shep Smith *cough*).
But it seems to me like this guy is a straight up Alex Jones-style Texas nutcase. Interesting question for Al Gore:
What is a bigger cause of global warming? Americans driving SUVs or Social Security?
Perhaps you never thought that Social Security has caused more pollution, more carbon dioxide and more chlorofloricarbons than gas guzzling vehicles. But think about it.
Before Social security, old people, in many cases had to live with their children after they retired, or in group living situations. They were available to watch the young children because they were living under the same roof.
After Social Security, we have literally tens of millions of elderly not just living alone, but driving their own vehicles and moving to warmer climates where they kick on the massive air conditioning and power lods onto our power grid.
this has required not just the construction of more housing and vehicles, but roads, developments, and everything from appliances to infrastructure.
I would love to see a study that addressed the affects all of this has had on the environment.
So if you support social security - are you anti-environment?

Know what causes high taxes?
Fox News.
Fox News tells people that wars are a wonderful thing. But to start a war, we need to build lots of ships, aircraft, weapons, etc. And of course we hire lots of expensive contractors to build this stuff.
So we need higher taxes to pay for the things that Fox News likes. Or we can borrow money from the Chinese. Which of course raises a whole host of other issues.

The "taxes are voluntary" carp can suck in normally smart people who then believe income taxes are even illegal
When normally smart people have been told for years that they understand the details of any complex field just as well as the trained experts it leads to this kind of nonsense.
Obviously accountants and lawyers are just blinded by adherence to the myths and illogic that permeate their professions. And once a 'deep thinker' points out the error of their ways, the judges will of course see things their way.
After all, they have been told that the average 3rd grader understands biology at a much deeper level than biologists; they feel sure that the intricacies of tax law are well within the grasp of anyone with an 8th grade education.
Tax deniers are the fruit and flower of your methodologies.

Thanks oc/fop, but this is a board moderated by the commenters. It works against all but the most sociopathic, and I'll admit, it worked better when Peter was Sergeant-at-Arms.

Joseph Stack is Andrew Kehoe. It's amazing that more Americans don't know about the Bath school bombing

Allowing a troll to namejack one of your fellow travelers-you have to get the message by now-don't you?
Pay attention, oc/fop. We've got cleo's number. As soon as she sticks her head up, we remind her of her non-existent Marine son and she spins off into a high-and-to-the-right-rage. Vanishes soon after that.
Mention of her Marine offspring is like kryptonite to cleo. Same-same as a mute button.
Right, cleo? cleo? See?

I wonder which distresses cleo more...the fact that any potential spawn of hers would reject his moonbat upbringing and embrace The Green Machine, or the self-inflicted torture she faces by showing her pinched, angry little mug around Tom's place?
Are you feeling me, cleo?
