PD

If the job is too tough, Mr. Precious, feel free to step down.

Neo

If he hates the "kabuki dance" so much, why is it that virtually all of his staff are "kabuki choreographers" ?
.. perhaps it's because his "Kung Fu" is not superior.

Neo

Barry is like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the 1978 film, Game of Death. Bruce Lee's brand of "Kung Fu" beat his butt.

clarice

Really pathetic.
when do we begin chiseling his name off all the buildings?

If you haven't seen it ranger has an interesting cite about the Wisconsin election.

Barry is like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

One of them is an egotistical Muslim convert who likes nothing better than playing basketball.

The other was in "Airplane".

Danube of Thought

What a phony shithead.

Danube of Thought

Ranger's cite is tantalizing but inscrutable. Anybody have a clue? Henry?

clarice

A few months ago that DA joined up with others , the wis DOJ and the election commission to investigate vote fraud in the state. There has been significant fraud in recent elections in Milwaukee by the D's.
I suspect they found some evidence of it but whether it was in this election or an earlier one I cannot say.

Neo

I noticed the last GAB press release cited changes during the canvass process in Milwaukee

Porchlight

What a phony shithead.

LOL. Can't top that.

Just imagine this pr*ck in his Dignified Former President role, gracing the dais of international function after function, giving interview after interview at conference after conference. It's gonna be grand.

Comanche Voter

Poor baby.

jimmyk

Dunno, DoT, but I must say, the comments are pretty amusing. I particularly liked the speculation on what the announcement would be: "Schrodinger's cat is really dead." "Grant is buried in Grant's tomb." "Hoffa' body was found (but he still voted twice)." And so on.

clarice

randy melchert says the announcement is not related to this election.

Sue

Wow, are they going to tell us democrats cheated in an election? That would be totally...anticlimatic. A real 'duh' moment.

Sue

Kennedy is about to be shot. I want to tell him not to go. Or duck. Or take off his back brace so he slumps after the first shot. Or something. I wonder how history would have turned out had Kennedy not been killed that day?

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vnjagvet

A commenter to the article Ranger linked says:

Fresh from the rumor mill....
The results of the “significant investigation” that will be released today have to do with the investigation by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office into alleged illegal campaign work on the part of Tim Russell and Darlene Wink, both of whom worked in Scott Walker’s office during Walker’s time as Milwaukee County Executive. Both Russell and Wink have allegedly been under investigation by the Milwaukee County DA’s office due to allegations they engaged in illegal campaign work on behalf of Walker’s gubernatorial campaign from their County offices and on County time. Russell’s county-provided computer had previously been seized by the Milwaukee DA’s office, and if I remember correctly, Wink’s personal laptop may have been seized as well.

Sue

Oh great. I should have known it was going to be about a republican. Never a democrat.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vnjagvet

There's always the possibility (as remote as it might be) that the investigation found no wrongdoing:>)

Porchlight

Jim Rhoads,

Melchert mentioned that possibility in his speculation on the investigation. He commented underneath: "Problem: Why would GAB be involved if it was County Exec?"

Porchlight

Melchert mentioned that possibility

Possibility that it was Walker's employees who were the subject of this particular investigation, that is.

Where's Henry when we need him? :)

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vnjagvet

I think I will not lose sleep over it. The announcement won't be until late afternoon Eastern.

Danube of Thought

How would the worst case compare with Charlie Trie? With Al Gore's "no controlling legal authority" White House solicitations? With the cattle futures? And etc....

narciso

Could be this as well, also mentioned by Melchert;

Being confronted with smartphone after smartphone in the hands of angry young conservatives who are somehow less impressed by his skin color than with the size of the tax bill they've inherited from him. Everywhere he goes. The pro shop. The basketball arena. Asking him what his biggest mistakes were. Asking him how to say "May 4th" in Spanish. Asking him to give his unvarnished opinion of America, without any handlers to clean it up.

He'll end up looking so stupid even his supporters have to admit it.

"I miss Saturday morning, rolling out of bed, not shaving, getting into my car with my girls, driving to the supermarket, squeezing the fruit, getting my car washed, taking walks. I can't take a walk."

This comment over at Ace's should win some kind of prize:

I know how he feels. This morning I mowed the lawn and washed my car, but all I really wanted to do was launch an airstrike on Syria.
ROTFL!

Sara (Pal2Pal)

The Kennedys has been a wonderful movie. I only have one complaint. There is no way Jackie would have ever worn such ill-fitting gloves that they have Katie Holmes wearing. Nobody wears gloves anymore, however, so maybe only those of us old enough to have had to suffer glove inspections in our own youth would notice.

Stephanie

Thanks for all the BD wishes!

We went out of town on Thursday for a short Spring Break to Charlotte and Carowinds amusement park for a few days and just got back. Awesome! The Intimidator (named after Earnhardt) 200+ foot lift hill and 80+ degree descent. Whee! Yeah, I'm a coaster junkie. Plus go-carts and bungie jumping... wicked fun!

Fortunately, I was able to keep up with reading the threads late at night in the hotel room and giggled with glee as the Prosser sh!t hit the fan.

Unfortunately, we got stuck at Carowinds yesterday just as a horrific thunderstorm came rolling in dumping hail on us with a tornado warning thrown in for good measure. The daughter's new 08 Ford Escape now has hail damage and looks like a golf ball - totally dimpled on the hood and roof and we've only had it for a week. She's totally bummed about it. Poor baby.

On the bright side, Carowinds took pity on us for enduring the storm under their ticket booth's eaves (we didn't quite make the parking lot before returning to the tix booth's quasisafety before they ran out with umbrellas and rescued us during the tornado warning) and, hearing we were from out of town, gifted us with complimentary passes for a return trip later this summer.

And wasn't that Master's great!!! Tiger finally got his mojo back. I hope it lasts.

My prediction for a winner is.... Charl Schwartzel.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

So was George Elliot looking in the future when she made this quote:

"The scornful nostril and the high head gather not the odors that lie on the track of truth."

So we can conclude from this interview that when Obama went running thru the Lincoln Memorial yesterday morning he wasn't seeking votes or applause or headlines or adulation or a bump in the polls---what he was really seeking was anonymity. Got it.

For anyone interested in that "What Is a Planet" stuff we talked about this weekend, here's a link to an interesting page at Astronomy Picture Of The Day. The new Space telescope Kepler, that is floating around way out there since 2009, has been taking shots of distant stars in an effort to find Extra-Solar Planets. This page I've linked to has each of the 1,235 candidate planets Kepler may have discovered, imposed upon a simulated image of the Star they are circling. It provides an idea of the sizes of planets and stars they've been looking at, and gives our Sun, Earth and Jupiter for comparison, (though I personally can't make out Earth even in magnification.)

henry

Good morning all. I have no idea what the Milwaukee DA and the GAB are up to, but going after Walker's county exec assistants rings a bell. Somebody gets nailed for campaigning on the taxpayer dime every election, and the investigations take a while. Search for ex assembly leader Scott Jensen for an example of this. Also both parties get caught from time to time. I'll check the radio this morning for better rumors.

Well it's not as if Trump has any impact on viewership. If he did, they'd surely be covering his antics in depth.

Btw, even Foxnews.com goes with the MSM's favorite "birther" definition:

Trump has drawn attention in recent weeks by questioning the authenticity of official documents showing Obama was born in Hawaii -- appealing to a fringe movement that suspects Obama was not born in the United States. Most mainstream politicians have rejected this conspiracy theory as hokum, but Trump has embraced it.
Anyone who questions the authenticity of the documents, or questions why the official birth certificate remains hidden, is by definition doubting Obama's US birth, and is therefore a crackpot, according to most mainstream politicians.

Here is your morning Kinetic Military Action update.

French troops enter centre of Abidjan

French ground troops have entered the centre of the main Ivory Coast city of Abidjan for the fist time as incumbent leader Laurent Gbagbo refuses to quit.

Helicopter gunships are firing in the area around Mr Gbagbo's residence.

It seems that the local boys the French were backing were unwilling to advance in the face of actual resistance, so the French have simply dropped any pretense. But have no fear, in the end the credit will go to the local leadership. The French are just lending a helping hand.

A spokesman for Mr Ouattara has said his troops were involved as well, and that this was the largest joint attack since the conflict began.

The action will not stop until Mr Gbagbo steps down, the spokesman added.

It's at least a little bit of comfort to know that Robert Samuelson sees things exactly as I do:

We in America have created suicidal government; the threatened federal shutdown and stubborn budget deficits are but symptoms. By suicidal, I mean that government has promised more than it can realistically deliver and, as a result, repeatedly disappoints by providing less than people expect or jeopardizing what they already have. But government can’t easily correct its excesses, because Americans depend on it for so much that any effort to change the status arouses a firestorm of opposition that virtually ensures defeat. Government’s very expansion has brought it into disrepute, paralyzed politics and impeded it from acting in the national interest.
Captain Hate

Today's WSJ editorial features a bunch of commiecrats and RINO Susan Collins who voted against McConnell's ban against the EPA regulating carbon (which even John Dingell has opposed) but instead offered their own bills which had no chance of passing so assholes like Sherrod Brown, who are up for election next year, could claim to their coal dependent constituents that "they did what they could" to not screw them over. Included in the group of Senators was Janet's large headed "blue dog" puke who's not running for re-election and had the opportunity to vote his "conscience" which some here claim is more conservative than any evidence dictates. Good riddance to Webb when he goes; even if Tim "Bad Hair Day" Kaine replaces him he'll at least not claim to be something he's not.

C'mon guys; let's hear the excuses for Webb.

Here it is, officially:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 19% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Thirty-nine percent (39%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -20 (see trends).

Today’s numbers reflect the lowest level of Strong Approval yet recorded for this president. There has been a sharp decline in enthusiasm among liberal voters.

Currently, just 37% of liberals Strongly Approve of the president’s performance. That’s down from 63% a year ago, 57% at the beginning of 2011, and 52% a week ago.

Dare we hope that at long last the scales have dropped, forever, from the eyes of another large group of people?

DebinNC

It's hilarious that the leftists want to ban talk of birtherism on the talk shows. Who keeps bringing it up? Leftists!

I believe that's a cornered rat reaction from the proglodyte base. They know BOzo got rolled by Tan Man and they also know what the utter defeat (in the sense that all troops had been committed to a loss) means in Wisconsin. There's probably some $4 gas reaction from the Muddle as well but most of it is just prog revulsion to having a spineless cretin leading the 'movement'.

I doubt its permanence but I'm very pleased to see it.

Exactly PD; they bring it up to try and flummox people like TPaw or Boehner and then Trump screws up their plan by gleefully addressing it at every opportunity while not holding elected office.

Here's that comment you were pointing out Capt;

Born in 1982, Ayers' parents are democrats and he told The New Republic he was "high on Clinton" back in the 90's. He's from Cobb County, Georgia.

So, Pawlenty has hired a 28-year old from one of the few Cobb County residents that actually liked Bill Clinton. This does not sound like a "big get" to me. It sounds like most of the campaign people know that Pawlenty doesn't have a chance.

Pawlenty is basically blanc mange, it's an open question whether he's from the galaxy
of Andromeda, Conant was having the vapors
at Politico, back when the slightest signs
of resistance to Obama, were being felt,

Trump is asking the questions normal people would ask. I was born in 1950 and I know that I was born at Huron Road Hospital in Cleveland. Everyone should know the name of the hospital, the time they were born, my entire family knows this about everyone in the family and they use their REAL birth certificate to obtain a passport. Why is he hiding all this and other information? Until he comes clean it's a loser for him.

The initiative aims to educate, challenge, and spark action from all sectors of our society -- citizens, communities, businesses, non-profits, faith based institutions, philanthropic organizations, and government -- to ensure military families have the support they have earned."

The Corner has an interesting take on budget battle:

Budget Politics and Spending Realities

It foceses on this one quote from a Politico story:

A top Democratic official, insisting on anonymity in order to be candid, said: “The fundamental problem of the whole process is Democrats have zero ability to describe what our view of government really is. So basically all we do is defend the status quo against attacks from the right-wing fringe of the GOP.”

I don't take this as an admission that Democrats have to lie about their view of government. I think we have gotten to the point that after 40 years of watering down education and eliminating any real debate in higher education about the role of government in people's lives, Democrats today simply don't know what their view of government is. To them, government 'does good things.' Therefore, spending more on government means doing more good things. When confronted with alternate viewpoints, or even simply asked to realy explain their view of government, they are at a total loss.
