I saw your comment.

Oh and no, there is no moderator, other than yourself.

Roy, Is this the comment?

Anduril (androgynous, don't know whether to call you Markos or Arianna),

To answer your challenge about intelligence I am going to do something that is against my nature - I am going to talk about myself. I have taken two formal IQ tests in my life - 149 & 153 as I remember. I had a long, successful career where I worked with and met many very successful, influential people.

Sarah Palin? I am in awe. She has the kind of brilliance we saw in Eisenhower and Reagan. This is a smarts that goes way beyond what the credentialed can possibly conceive. You just keep on running against the Snowbilly. She's got you just where she wants you.

"Sarah Palin is so dumb she thinks the Constitution limits what the government can do."

Another Winner from bgates.

I read David Hackett Fischer's Paul Revere's Ride a few years back and found it to be outstanding. A very worthwhile read.

Narciso,

Sad news up here today. Dennis Prager has been pulled off the talk radio line up and replaced with.....Dan Fagan:(

Jack is Back!

Good Morning, JOM.

Woke at 4:45 to song-birds as a weak glow of sunlight appeared on our lake. Beautiful to hear those hungry little birds all over the property.

Very educational thread on how a poem we all learned in grade school turns out to be so ingrained in everyone's conscience they could not concieve of is fallibility until the most watched private citizen in America, since OJ Simpson, corrected them with an obvious disconnected but factual comment.

I'm going to party like its 1773!

Pops

Anduril,

Let's compare Palin and Obama's smarts:

Obama ran on closing GITMO as a terrible harm to the Nation, Palin ran on it being necessary. Obama has conceeded Palin was right - GITMO remains.

Obama ran on ending the Bush tax cuts - Palin ran on keeping them, Obama signed the extension of the Bush tax rates. Obama has conceeded Palin was right.

Obama ran on creating a huge stimulous that would keep unemployment below 7 percent, Palin said it wouldn't work - Palin was again proven right.

Obama ran on reducing the use of fossil fuels, Palin said that would raise gas prices, lose jobs in America and hurt the economy - Palin was right again.

Obama ran on ending the enhanced interrogation and what he termed excesses of the Patriot Act - Palin ran on keeping those capabilities, Obama has now signed extensions for every part of the Patriot Act and has reserved the right to use enhanced interrogation, Palin was right again.

Obama ran on ending military tribunals and trying terrorists her in the states, Palin ran on keeping them. Obama has now conceeded Palin was right and he will try terrorists in military tribunals.

Obama ran on a National health care system, Palin said it wouldn't work and would be a disaster. Obama has conceeded the point and provided over 2,000 entities waivers from his healthcare plan including some entire states.

So Obama has basically spent his years as President proving that Palin is smarter them him.

Jane

My goodness, this place was testy last night.

Jack is Back!

Jane,

What you get when they let the googlemaniac's loose with their bold key, deprived attention and lopsided logic that continues to be knocked-down like ten pins.

How's the recovery coming along? I guess there has been lots of looting and shouts from the rooftops to be saved. Anyone killed on the bridges?

hoyden

After I updated to Firefox 4.0.1 my Narcisolator stopped working. When I click on the GreaseMonkey icon I see that scripts are enabled but I do not see the Narcisolator script listed in the pull down menu.

Help!

Soylent:
Make voting for JEF the mark of stupidity.

HEY!!! You forgot the second F. Otherwise, who am I to argue.

Melinda Romanoff

Jane-

How are the roof and window repairs going at Amy's?

jimmyk

Gosh, the next thing you know that dumb Sarah is going to say that George Washington didn't chop down that cherry tree.

Extraneus

hoyden, if you still have Greasemonkey and the narcisolator script installed, do this:

Tools...Greasemonkey...Manage User Scripts

Right click on the narcisolator script and choose Edit.

Sounds like you might not, in which case I don't remember what we had to do to upgrade. Possibly re-install Greasemonkey.

bgates:
Sarah Palin is so dumb she thinks the Constitution limits what the government can do.

Now,now,to be fair...Obama thinks exactly that.

Only,he views such an arrangement with wistfulness:

"the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution . . . that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. Says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the Federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the Federal government or State government must do on your behalf."
--stuff Obama said

Then again, you're right -- now that he's president, trifling stuff like following the Constitution can and should be ignored.

Therefore,I award your statement: Zero Pinocchios

And speaking of Palin and Constitutional views...

Sarah Palin is so dumb she thinks the Constitution allows the federal government to force you to buy stuff you may not want or need.

Janet

Palin also needs to set up an all-star conservative shadow government in waiting.

Really agree with this from Soylent at 2:19. She's gonna need some STRONG people with her.
With the State Dept., CIA, Justice, & the lib network...there is gonna be some ugly push back.
When libs can't win...they tie everything up in courts. Litigation, hearings, endless headline "news" coverage...Just like in Alaska. Non news junkie citizens will figure she must have done *something* wrong. It'll be Bush-bashing on steroids.

Rick Ballard

"Romney reportedly said Friday that he believed the United States as well as foreign nations need to "reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases," saying they "may be significant contributors" to climate change. "

Now there's some real smarts.

Paul Revere's Ride

The primary goal of the Brittish regulars was to apprehend the leaders of the opposition, Sam Adams and John Hancock. There secondary goal was, to disarm the populace along the way.

Here's the whole story of Paul Revere's ride:

Revere confronted 2 British regulars manning a road block as he headed north across Charlestown Neck. As he turned around, the regulars gave chase and he eluded them. He then continued on to Lexington, to the home of Jonas Clarke where Sam Adams and John Hancock were staying. There, his primary mission was fulfilled when he notified Adams and Hancock that "The Regulars are coming out!" (he never exclaimed, "The British are coming". This would have made no sense at the time since they considered themselves British).

Revere and Dawes then headed for Concord and came across Doctor Prescott who then joined them. They decided to alarm every house along the way.

Just outside of the town of Lincoln, they were confronted by 4 Regulars at another road block. They tried unsuccessfully to run their horses through them. Prescott, who was familiar with the terrain, jumped a stone wall and escaped. Revere and Dawes tried to escape and shortly into the chase they were confronted by 6 more regulars on horseback. Revere was surrounded and taken prisoner. Dawes got away as they were taking Revere into custody.

The British officers began to interrogate Revere, whereupon Revere astonished his captors by telling them more than they even knew about their own mission. (HA!) He also told them that he had been warning the countryside of the British plan and that their lives were at risk if they remained in the vicinity of Lexington because there would soon be 500 men there ready to fight. Revere, of course, was bluffing.

The Regulars had Revere remount his horse and they headed toward Lexington Green, when suddenly, they heard a gunshot! Revere told the British officer that the shot was a signal "to alarm the country!". Now the British troops were getting very nervous (hehe).

A few minutes later, they were all startled to hear the heavy crash of an entire volley of musketry from the direction of Lexington's meeting house and then the Lexington town bell began clanging rapidly! Jonathan Loring, a Lexington resident captured earlier, turned to his captors and shouted "The bell's a' ringing! The town's alarmed, and you're all dead men!"

The British officers then talked urgently among themselves and decided to release their captives so as they would not slow their retreat.

anduril

Anduril,

Let's compare Palin and Obama's smarts:

You lost me right there...I skipped the rest.

It would be a wonderfully simple world if not being Obama were sufficient qualification to be the president we need, but it's not.

Anyone else who feels the need to witness to me about what a bad president/person Obama is--spare yourself the time and effort. I knew it before you did.

anduril

Palin also needs to set up an all-star conservative shadow government in waiting.

The point is--she hasn't. She's doing nothing but what Gingrich tries to do, keep herself in the public eye to keep the speaker fee rates up.

As for not fearing the press, when you speak off the cuff the way she does, that could be part of stupid.

boris

Yeah like when Ronald Reagan speaking off the cuff said trees cause pollution ... was made fun of for being stupid .. only he was right. Yet another way Sarah Palin is exactly like Ronald Reagan! Crazy, I know but there it is.

Ignatz

I have a very clear memory of a group of big-name, condescending, press fools beclowning themselves by ridiculing Reagan on national TV after he used the pretty commonly known word "irreligious".
I have no idea whether they were ever enlightened to their own dimness.

pagar

"When libs can't win...they tie everything up in courts. Litigation, hearings, endless headline "news" coverage."

"In Alabama, a Harsh Bill for Residents Here Illegally"

"Calling Alabama’s bill “outrageous and blatantly unconstitutional,” Ms. Wang said, “We will take action if the governor signs it.”

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/04/us/04immig.html?_r=2&hp

IMO, this bill is nowhere near as harsh as what happens to illegals who attempt to live in move in to countries these illegals came from.

hoyden

Extraneous: Sounds like you might not, in which case I don't remember what we had to do to upgrade. Possibly re-install Greasemonkey.

I reinstalled the script and now the narcisolator is working again.

thank you!

cathyf

DoT, perhaps I am misremembering (oh, no! nobody tell Fitzie!) but I distinctly remember you 3 years ago telling us that if we nominated John McCain he was going to be president, while nobody else was electable. And that Hilary was a much bigger threat than Obama, who could never in a million years win the nomination let alone the election -- as long as we didn't do anything stupid like nominate some loser like Huckabee, Romney, Thompson, Giuliani...

Quite frankly, it looks to me like Sarah was the difference between McCain losing and McCain beating McGovern's record for getting completely shellacked in a presidential race.

pagar

"it looks to me like Sarah was the difference between McCain losing and McCain beating McGovern's record for getting completely shellacked in a presidential race."

AMEN!

Not_Bubarooni

Wow!

Is he finally letting Bush off the hook for the terrible economy?

It's them dang Europeans, Asians and (chortle) fuel prices hurting our economy.

LUN

Clarice

Soylent..I hope Sarah listens to you and your dear old dad.

glenda

SR...
post away @ SarahPac...I don't think they(she) could resist the great ideas from a handsome g.i. with the handle "Soylent Red"

bgates..if only 1 token conservative on the Sunday talk shows could whip out satire like you do so well--comparing Obama~Palin's press/we could have another Reagan-like landslide in 2012.

Voters need to personally relate with someone they elect..erego, Palin wins. I cannot relate positively to anything regarding Obama..

hit and run

cathyf:
but I distinctly remember you 3 years ago telling us that if we nominated John McCain he was going to be president, while nobody else was electable.

That was only after Giuliani's spectacular collapse in the Republican primary. Prior to said collapse,DoT assured us one and all that Rudy and Hillary would, without a doubt,be facing off in the election.

Pops

Anduril,

""Anyone else who feels the need to witness to me about what a bad president/person Obama is--spare yourself the time and effort. I knew it before you did.""

Funny how you gleaned that from NOT reading my post.

By the way, if you actually read it, you would see I never sad Obama was a bad president/person, I simply showed that Palin was right on FEDERAL GOVERNMENT POLICY
on basically every issue in the last election and Obama has been proven wrong.

Its not hard to figure out that Obama spent his life in academia and government and never dealt with the actual real world. Now he's dealing with it and realizing him and his liberal eggheads were absolutely clueless to how the real world works.

Pops

By the way, Anduril, here's a really cool one for your basement wall collection:

http://www.replicadungeon.com/replica-anduril-sword.html

It even has elven writing, how great is that?

Pops

It is truly comical that we went from Obama the great Talker who wanted to sit down and reason with everyone and his goodness and kindness was going to solve everything to Obama the one true Anduril, who double taps his enemies with lead bullets then throws their bodeis in the ocean and incessantly bombs other world leaders grandchildren in an unauthorized war.

anduril

TK, I know I promised last night that I would respond within 4 hours, but once I found this treasure trove of Jew New Yorker art, well, let's just say I ignored the "more than 4 hour" warning and was pounding it all night till I passed out in ecstasy.

Pops

Obama has become the George W. Bush caricature the media/left warned us about.

We've traded 'enhanced interrogation' for Obama ordered assasinations, and family member targeting.

We've traded diplomacy for making sure we have extra death dealers standing by in case our allies try to stop us from carrying out assasinations on their soil.

We've traded lawfully passed Use of Force Laws for cowboy bombings of countries we aren't at war with in violation of the War Powers Act.

In short, Obama is the President, Senator Obama warned us about. The lawless cowboy with a taste for Muslim blood.

Pops

Anduril: ""..let's just say I ignored the "more than 4 hour" warning and was pounding it all night till I passed out in ecstasy."""

Perfectly understandable, that baby looked alot like Bill Clinton, you must have been in seventh heaven....

Pops

You think that was good, you need to sign up for Weiner Tweets!!
What liberal doesn't love a Weiner in his inbox??

Ralph L

Palin also needs to set up an all-star conservative shadow government in waiting
It's illegal to offer a government job to someone before you've been elected to office.
Presumably, she can get people to speak for her after endorsement season starts.

Westie

Clarice, I'm a very skeptical old Paleo and trust very little of what I read. However I do take notice of your writings and opinions and I'm pleased to say we have very similar reads on Governor Palin. This week has been especially wonderful as SP has once again shown the way forward and is now putting her plan into place....to me it's obvious that she has learned how to operate within the decision loop of her opponents (OODA Loop) and her timing is exquisite! I have to admire how SP slipped Mitt a velvet stiletto and hog tied the Media opponents...I've seen this story before and I'm very excited about what she is doing now.

Terrye

Well, Palin could have been a little more coherent in her response. She could have simply said that Paul Revere warned the Colonists that the British were coming and he warned the British that the Americans would not be easily disarmed..instead we get this sort of meandering comment that left people wondering what she was talking about.

I knew about the history of that ride because I like historical anecdotes. The truth is Paul Revere is famous because he was the one who got caught by the Brits.

I like Palin, but if she wants to be president, she needs to think about appealing to more people than just the Palinistas who will love her and defend her no matter what.

Yes, the media are snots....we all know this, but this particular incident should have been handled better by Palin from the outset. Do not give these people such an easy shot.
