the corner store that wants to expand.......................

Threadkiller

What's going on? I was out checking my tire pressure.

JM Hanes

We can fix it all, and it won't even hurt!

bunky

fairly shared, republicans are evil

JM Hanes

I blame Bush Tea Party Republicans.

bunky

most americans dont understand corporate jet owners

daddy

Watching it live. Says it's both parties blame---then he blames the Republicans.

bunky

Hedge fund secratries pay the most taxes

Threadkiller

I noticed a slight smile on his face.

Is Barney Frank crouched inside the lecturn?

daddy

Tax the people who make 250,000 dollars.

Wow, what a novel idea. Never heard that from Obama before.

Ohhh, now he's Ronald Reagan and the Republicans aren't.

bunky

those not now paying their fair share ooops trick quote....that was Reagan......who I thought was an imperialist....

Comanche Voter

and the stimulus was necessary for firefighters and teachers. And bipartisn is good and debt ceiling is bad and he's going to 'splain it all to us.

He doesn't mention that he voted against raising the debt ceiling in 2006.

bunky

repub house members want us to eat purina cat chow and kill off welfare

daddy

Republican House members will be to blame if they don't raise taxes.

Threadkiller

Once again he is wearing the 57 star lapel pin.

Another Barbara

Is Jane still in the Green Room getting made up?

matt

does he a corpseman handy if someone falls off their chair laughing and has a stroke?

PD

Hey, Obama, I like the cuts-only approach better than yours.

What was yours again?

daddy

Speaker Boehner's new approach will force us to face default in just 6 months. 6 months is bad. It's dangerous. We all must compromise and give me everything I want.

Comanche Voter

we won't be able to pay social security or veteran's benefits or the companies that have contracts with government.

PD

Luv it when he goes empathetic.

Hey baby, your compassion's ankle deep.

bunky

6 months not long enough, uh kicking the can, tea party evil, cuts only, rich selfish, kill the sick, captive all of us, dangerous, cant play this game, we have one week until visited by aliens

Threadkiller

She is out buying grey goose.

daddy

The Senate has a better approach, a real good plan because it's probably what I want.

PD

6 months is bad. It's dangerous.

It sure is. That comes to an end before the 2012 election.

J.R.

everything is the republican's fault!

bgates

Once again he is wearing the 57 star lapel pin

The OIC has a lapel pin?

bunky

new members of congress will not compromise, food on table, bone tired of circus cant come together to finish the socialist revolution.

J.R.

Senate has a plan that will allow not to address this again like my predecessors had to before the next election.

PD

Obama just said he wants us all to make our voice heard.

Okay

bunky

the President just said call Congress.....

daddy

Both parties must put politics aside and give me exactly what I want.

Mostly people are fed up that the word "Compromise" is a dirty word. They are offended by that and they should be. So call the Republicans and give them a message that you hate them and like my idea.

Yay, got in "Slavery" in the speech.

JM Hanes

The thump when his hands land on the podium is a great little distracting tic. Ha, sometimes he forgets to do that little pinching thing instead of pointing his finger.

J.R.

people fed up with a town where compromise is a dirty word???? bone-tired people tired of seeing three ring circus, so allow me to enter the ring!

Threadkiller

To vote for bankruptcy press 1; to vote for larger government press 2

OldTimer

I sure hope Boehner a adult slap in the face rebuttal to Barry's irrational tantrum.

Sara (Pal2Pal)

How many times do Americans have to send this idiot their message? Americans want spending cuts, they do not want the debt ceiling raised at all, but certainly not without massive spending cuts. The polls are over 70% for this position. How many more before he gets it, if he ever does?

J.R.

slavery!!!

bunky

the world is watching.........

Ranger

He's trying to do his best "I'm an upbeat, positive guy" thing.

Dave (in MA)

Feel the Malaise.

bunky

wtf is ed henry?

J.R.

He accomplished nothing with this. I only see this hardening the resolve of the Republicans.

daddy

France 24 Channel loves the speech. Say's its the Obama we saw back in the 2008 Election.

BBC says Obama came across better on the Politics because he painted the Repub's as refusing to pay for stuff they have already paid for.

bunky

Boehner is tan and just had a smoke...........

PD

Boehner: Obama came to Washington and requested business as usual.

Ranger

Heh.. Boehner is playing the everyman outsider!

JackisBack!

HERE'S MY VOICE - STFU,

bunky

fiscal trajectory, say it five times

PD

Boehner: The president would not take "Yes" for an answer.

JM Hanes

The Prez wouldn't take Yes for an answer -- that's my guy Beohner!

bunky

Man he needs a smoke and fast

PD

Boehner: The president wanted a blank check six months, and he wants a blank check now. That's just not going to happen.

PD

six months *ago*

peter

ON the 42nd anniversary of the great Ted Kennedy address about some awful curse over the entire Kennedy family, just six days after he killed Mary Jo.

bunky

they will send the bill....there's the marker

JM Hanes

That's my guy Boehner too!

J.R.

Boehner is stronger than I expected. Setting the right tone.

bunky

not complicated.......spend less....

daddy

Boehner---Cut, Cap and Balance would do what the President wants. President would not take Yes for an answer.

What the President wants is a blank check.

If he signs the Bill we will send up this week, the crisis will disappear and we can then deal with the overall Debt Problem.

The bigger the Government the smaller the people. (Prager sez the smaller the citizen).

Boehner sez the same ending---God Bless you and God Bless America.

matt

BTW, the delegate from Guam introduced a bill to pay Guamians and their descendents reparations for Japanese war crimes. This after the African American farmer payoff. Barbara Lee says the whole thing is manufactured.

Yep, they're really serious about putting the country back on the right track.....

bunky

reaction: fox stoddard of course moist over Bammy

Threadkiller

He said it is a crisis created by the president. A good dig.

daddy

BBC Talking Head is on Obama's side.

Sez Repubs are using this to win what they can't win at the Ballot Box. Sez this is a form of extortion or like somebody kidnapping your kid and you acquiescing to the kidnappers. Sez we need more spending.

bunky

but she said boehner did well, something is wrong!

Jane says obamasucks

AB, I snarked both speeches in the last thread. Too busy to switch over.

PD

Krauthammer on Obama: I thought *I* was cynical, until I heard that speech.

bunky

Krauthammer shites all over Bammy's speech...

J.R.

bigger the government, the smaller the people......i like that line.

Jane says obamasucks

Boehner was absolutely fabulous.

J.R.

classic Krauthammer.

bunky

AB Stoddard: Regan could not win repub primary today-wtf

henry

PD, I used that link, but chickened out by not saying I would back the JEF if he has Shep Smith drawn and quartered during prime time tomorrow.

PD

I don't care. Obama is awesome.

JM Hanes

Maybe the Prez will think twice about demanding air time when he knows Boehner is going to get the last word. Will anybody even remember what Obama said? Who's takin' it to the people now?

Janet

I thought Boehner did well. Terrible tie, but I like him better cause he IS wearing a terrible tie. He's not a fancy pants loser.

The honest smoker vs. the loser who lies about his smoking. No contest.

bunky

msnbc highly entertaining right now

daddy

France24 sez this is Political Game-playing.

Ticker below the Talking Heads Sez Obama calls for Bipartisan compromise. Doesn't say the Repubs want that. Sez American's don't understand the issue but they do know the political process is not working.

Sez Obama's favorability ratings have ben going down but so has Congresses. Much more fair coverage than fromthe BBC. No surprise that.

Over to the Asian channels.

Jane says obamasucks

Who has dibs on Boehner? Someone tell me it's me!

JM Hanes

No, Jane, it's not you.

bunky

Matthews pursed lips may mean a turd misfire............

Stephanie

<>

Do we need a spreadsheet for that?

Sara (Pal2Pal)

So they both smoke, so what?

They probably both drink stinky coffee too, but as long as they aren't brewing it in my presence, I don't care about that either.

Janet

The only thing that coulda made Boehner's response better is if he had been smoking while giving the speech! Oh yeah! Channeling the hard working Marlboro Man.

Stephanie

((Who has dibs on Boehner? Someone tell me it's me!))

Do we need a spreadsheet for that?

//Nothing like crapping all over your own joke.

Other than Boehner plastering a kick me sign on Obama's...

JM Hanes

Piers Morgan: Prez wants compromise, Republicans won't budge. Plouffe says Prez rejects my-way-or-highway approach. Now that's rich!

Morgan asks how Prez reacted to Boehner's speech. Alas, he and Plouffe were walking out of the room at the time and missed it! But he read the (apparently instantaneous) transcript!

PD

He's not a fancy pants loser.

What! No terrific crease in his pants? How can anyone take him seriously.

daddy

Sorry, Asia channels on to other stuff, so instead the lugubrious David Gurgen on CNN . As normal he looks like he has indigestion.

Don't think this went over so well with the Left guys, so here comes David Plouffe to try to make it advantage Obama. Boehner to blame. We will be reasonableon our side. Sez 2 times the Repubs are "My way or the HiWay".

Plouffe said he did not see Boehner's speech.

Holding my breath to see if CNN brings on a spokesman now to support Boehner. Sez Repubs must compromise a little bit and do whats right for the country.

Plouffe won't answer the 14th Ammendment put to him about raising the debt Limit without a deal. New talking point is that the Government paid for all this stuff and the Repubs are now refusing to pay for it. Compromise, compromise, compromise.

Janet

So they both smoke, so what?

I'm just joking around, Sara. I for sure don't care. I smoke....quite a bit...constantly actually. :)

Mikey

Interesting take on ABC. unintended consequence of Obama's speech is securing enough votes for Boehner's plan.

Ranger

I guess "Compromise" focused grouped well.

daddy

Japan's NHK is completely straight forward.

Sez Obama criticized Repubs for walking away from the negotiating table. Sez the Obama Administration is in an extremely precarious situation. No mention of Boehner---switched right away to Europe to try to explain the EU situation.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vnjagvet

What? Didn't any of those MSNBC or CNN guys use the E word like Harry Reid did this morning? Hard to believe.

centralcal

I love Jane! Just love her!

Boehner hit exactly the right tone - sounded like any one of us. Proud of him tonight! Damned proud.

Clarice

Jane, Jane, Jane. I'm afraid I beat you to it. And should I somehow become unavailable JMH is second in line.

bunky

Schumer: new tea party congress represents nobody. Compromise meand repubs give up all positions.............

Clarice

would it be bring to flood the WH with emails begging the president to speak to the nation every damn night?

Clarice

**would it be WRONG***

daddy

Back to CNN hoping for the Conservative answer to Plouffe and we get---Chuck Schumer.Schumer sez tje Pres put the blame on the extremist Republicans exactly where it ought to be.

You can guess the rest.

Switched to the ASIAN gal on CNBC. They are responsibly showing first Obama's comments, then Boehner's comments, and not doing any obvious spin for either guy. CNBC talking Head sez this August 2nd deadline is a self-employed deadline and that there is wiggle room.
