New Debate Rule...they're gonna have to hold a feather if they want to talk.
Posted by: Janet | December 15, 2011 at 09:04 PM
"Obama is beating himself" - only if you have a brain.
Posted by: Jane | December 15, 2011 at 09:07 PM
6 minutes in & only Newt has talked.
Ron Paul put the feather above his eye as an impromptu eyebrow wig.
Posted by: Janet | December 15, 2011 at 09:08 PM
Last debate Michele gave us Newt Romney.
Maybe tonight Newt will give us Rick Bachmann.
Why not?

Janet:
Ron Paul put the feather above his eye as an impromptu eyebrow wig.
He has a permanent feather? Who can shut him up????

Climate blogosphere is all over the police raid on Tallbloke's server, initiated by the US DOJ and carried out by British coppers. I think request has been made to freeze Steve McIntyre's(Toronto, Canada) and Jeff Id's(US, Chicago area) servers for the two days right at the release of the ClimateGate II emails. Conjecture is that the search is out for visitors to those blogs.

Romney always seems like he is gonna use government to solve problems. I want someone that gets rid of government in our lives.
Now Perry's turn...Baer says you're not a good debater. Good Lord.
Posted by: Janet | December 15, 2011 at 09:13 PM
Some tanned, gray haired guy is talking now...who is he?
Posted by: Janet | December 15, 2011 at 09:15 PM
Oh.
I had never ever, not once, not ever, seen Huntsman speaking before.
Yike.
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 09:16 PM
Santorum is doing well.

Cue numerous Ben Franklin C&Ps in support of the Climategate leaker in 3...2...1...never.

Chris Wallace asks a 14 paragraph question...
Newt is good at just saying what he has planned to say no matter what the question is.
Posted by: Janet | December 15, 2011 at 09:30 PM
It's debate night and I jonesing for some liveblogging.
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 09:30 PM
Mitt just said Obama doesn't understand how the economy works. Does he really believe that Obama's agenda is not to destroy this country, the economy being just one step to achieve that destruction?
Posted by: Barbara-Lurking | December 15, 2011 at 09:33 PM
I hate to admit it but I like some of Paul's ideas about shrinking govt.
Bachmann is good on that too.
Posted by: Janet | December 15, 2011 at 09:33 PM
Janet, I have to dissent - Paul gives me the heebie jeebies - perhaps not the content but the manner in which he states his positions.
Posted by: centralcal | December 15, 2011 at 09:35 PM
Did Romney just end an otherwise fine statement with "And I applaud it *if* it's good news"?
Regarding the Ryan-Wyden medicare thingamajingajob?
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 09:39 PM
Go Perry Go!!
Posted by: Janet | December 15, 2011 at 09:43 PM
Santorum supporter here and 45 minutes into this show with only 1 question. These "debates" are a complete joke!
Posted by: MoodyBlu | December 15, 2011 at 09:44 PM
Agree MoodyBlu.
Posted by: Janet | December 15, 2011 at 09:45 PM
Why is 1.6 million from FreddieMac over a period of 8 years a big deal? Newt is not my guy but darn if I can understand what the big deal is? Anyone help?
Posted by: MoodyBlu | December 15, 2011 at 09:47 PM
Hit,
I don;t think liveblogging works all that well when things are going so fast. Altho Daddy did a spectacular job the other day.
Posted by: Jane | December 15, 2011 at 09:49 PM
Have to say that Newt has done a good job at keeping his cool with the weapons of mass destruction being fired at him tonight.
Posted by: MoodyBlu | December 15, 2011 at 09:49 PM
I agree Jane. I don't know how you (or daddy, or Elliott or anyone else) ever did it.
My gosh you are all superhuman.
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 09:51 PM
"Regarding the Ryan-Wyden medicare thingamajingajob?"
I have a different descriptor....

Dude. He has the feather above his right eye -- you do not have the floor.
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 09:56 PM
Anyone help?
We don't know what he did. It's he said, she said. But if he advised them on how to follow closely in the sleazy tradition of Jim Johnson, then it's a big deal. It means he's Johnsonian and he took his take just like Johnson and Raines did. We'll never know what happened, I guess.
Posted by: Jim Ryan | December 15, 2011 at 09:57 PM
Jim, I was sorry to read about your uncle's passing.
Posted by: Clarice | December 15, 2011 at 09:58 PM
"He has the feather above his right eye "
Not chicken, 'pigeon'.
Posted by: Benjamin Franklin | December 15, 2011 at 09:58 PM
I'm sorry -- first night being exposed to Huntsman.
I've never actually felt my skin crawl like that.
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 09:59 PM
NOW you know how the rest of us have felt through this long debate season, Hit! He is creepy.
Posted by: centralcal | December 15, 2011 at 10:01 PM
Pigeon Forge = Dolly Parton
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 10:02 PM
Come on guys, Huntsman is all my lib friends' favorite Republican. Obviously, he is a man of some quality.
Posted by: Porchlight | December 15, 2011 at 10:03 PM
Sure,cc -- and it reinforces my prior decision to forego these debates.
Why oh why oh why did I subject my skin to this?
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 10:04 PM
Me too Jim, I'll remember him in my prayers. And hit, what a great tribute to PUK, you're one in a million!
Posted by: Rocco | December 15, 2011 at 10:07 PM
"Ron Paul - there is something lovable about him:)"
Yeah, his cousin ET was a real hit in that movie. I guess it runs in the family.
Posted by: Rick Ballard | December 15, 2011 at 10:09 PM
Thanks,Rocco. I did much less work than you. I'm just in p.r.
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 10:10 PM
There's an ointment, for that but it has side effects.
Posted by: narciso | December 15, 2011 at 10:11 PM

What do you think of Iran?
I Ron.
Yes, but what if Iran got a hold of a nuke?
I Ron do not have a nuke.
We know that, it is a hypothetical about Iran.
I Ron.
Posted by: Threadkiller | December 15, 2011 at 10:14 PM
I am spellbound by this debate.
Posted by: Jane | December 15, 2011 at 10:14 PM
Ron Paul has been hit around the head and shoulders with oars without his knowledge.
Often.
Posted by: Melinda Romanoff | December 15, 2011 at 10:15 PM
What is more dangerous Ron Paul's thinking or Barack Obama's intentions and actions? Paul hands down and his acolytes. Terrifying.
Posted by: Jack is Back! | December 15, 2011 at 10:16 PM
Max Huntsman is a root. I enjoy my wife's take on him. She thinks of Ellis from Die Hard everytime he speaks.
"Bret boobie!!"
Posted by: Threadkiller | December 15, 2011 at 10:21 PM
Root? That should say dolt.
Posted by: Threadkiller | December 15, 2011 at 10:24 PM
Huntsman = Repubs Dukakis
Posted by: Jack is Back! | December 15, 2011 at 10:25 PM
If you think Mitt Romney is a caricature of Hollywood central casting for a Republican president -- Abernathy Huntsman is a caricature of the caricature of Mitt Romney as the Republican caricature of the Republican nominee.
My skin stopped crawling,though. Thanks,Titos!
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 10:25 PM
Cavuto and Baier. The others not necessary.
Posted by: centralcal | December 15, 2011 at 10:26 PM
Good question by Cavuto to Perry -- sharp and pointed.
His answer?
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 10:29 PM
At least I saw Romney's neck move tonight.
Posted by: Melinda Romanoff | December 15, 2011 at 10:29 PM
Question for Bachman: How does oil from Canada make us energy independent? Duh!
Posted by: Jack is Back! | December 15, 2011 at 10:29 PM
Hit-
Dead on targeting.
Posted by: Melinda Romanoff | December 15, 2011 at 10:30 PM
The pace of the debate is stunning. I cannot imagine Obama keeping up.
Posted by: Jane | December 15, 2011 at 10:31 PM
Megyn Kelly has looked better than tonight,IMHO. She's one objectively beautiful woman. Maybe it's the makeup, maybe it's my tv,but tonight something's not quite right.
But that last question on Fast and Furious?
Soooooooooooo hot.
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 10:34 PM
Jane-
Who?
Posted by: Melinda Romanoff | December 15, 2011 at 10:34 PM
If it's any comparison,I think Mitt is as hot as I've ever found him.
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 10:36 PM
Set the feather down, Hit.
Posted by: Threadkiller | December 15, 2011 at 10:38 PM
Feather down.
But for the record I never found Mitt hotter than a 1.62 on a scale of 10.
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 10:40 PM
hit-
Turn off the car in the garage, if you're going to post from the driveway.
Just for safety's sake.

Newt wants to give amnesty to illegals who've been here a long time. Just how many does he want to give amnesty to?

Just Rubio's parents.
Posted by: Threadkiller | December 15, 2011 at 10:46 PM
...and Rubio.
Posted by: Threadkiller | December 15, 2011 at 10:46 PM
Not in the driveway,Melinda. But if you think I am,you can expand if you want.

Any anchors in that? Just checking...

So, who won? My guy Santorum did well and as far as the rest...OMG_ABO!
Posted by: MoodyBlu | December 15, 2011 at 10:57 PM
Why hasn't Huntsman been grilled about the undoubted skin-crawling effect? All other questions are just softballs by comparison.
The establishment media people are just afraid to ask...
Posted by: Danube of Thought | December 15, 2011 at 11:01 PM
What's the question, DoT? Ambassador Huntsman, every time you speak it makes my skin crawl. Can you tell me why?
Posted by: Clarice | December 15, 2011 at 11:11 PM
In the grand conspiracy of the establishment -- Huntsman exists to make Romney look human by comparison.
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 11:11 PM
It's hard to characterize that feeling, in an objective sense, Huntsman comes across like
Roger Sterling, the oily head of Don Draper's firm.
Posted by: narciso | December 15, 2011 at 11:13 PM
Show Huntsman the Streisand/Kristofferson photo. That should do it.
Posted by: Threadkiller | December 15, 2011 at 11:14 PM
Pheh. Haven't watched one yet. Don't intend to.
Posted by: Pofarmer | December 15, 2011 at 11:14 PM
Po, I was just thinking about you today. How nice to see you.
Posted by: Clarice | December 15, 2011 at 11:17 PM
I was Pofarmer . . . 4 hours ago.
Innocence lost.
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 11:18 PM

Hey guys. Been busy. Still busy. Currently procrastinating.
Posted by: Pofarmer | December 15, 2011 at 11:21 PM
What did you learn tonight that you didn't already know,Jane?
Posted by: hit and run | December 15, 2011 at 11:23 PM
While you all have been watching the debate, I have been watching the Senate hearing on the Nuclear Commission.
Conclusion: Barbara Boxer is an idiot for real, without any question, conclusively; Senator Lautenberg may die at any minute; and Bernie Sanders is truly a socialist, communist, leninist, gramcian, stalinist.
Posted by: Uncle BigBad | December 15, 2011 at 11:25 PM
"Ambassador Huntsman, every time you speak it makes my skin crawl. Can you tell me why?"
Perfetto.
A better effort might have been, "Ambassador Huntsman, it is generally accepted that you make everyone's skin crawl. Thus far, your efforts to dispell this view have been perceived as deceitful, and have caused you to all but disappear in the polls. So what do you have to say to those who find your daughters' YouTubes offensive?"
Posted by: Danube of Thought | December 15, 2011 at 11:36 PM
"I want to thank you for asking why I make your skin crawl. While there is no good explanation, I will answer as if I answered already. And as long as we are on the subject I think my daughters are old enough to decide if they want their YouTubes tied. I cannot speak for them. I cannot speak for me either."
Posted by: Threadkiller | December 15, 2011 at 11:43 PM
"Barbara Boxer is an idiot for real, without any question, conclusively;"
You should have figured that out waaaayyyyyy before now.
Posted by: Pofarmer | December 15, 2011 at 11:44 PM
--Conclusion: Barbara Boxer is an idiot for real, without any question, conclusively; --
Uncle, what does that make the retarded Californians who keep putting a woman they have known for decades to be a complete and profound idiot back into the senate to represent them and, God help me, me?
Posted by: Ignatz | December 15, 2011 at 11:47 PM
