Frank Bruni of the Times writes on the double standard that leads to women but not (straight) men being derogated sexually. He finds all sorts of examples from both sides of the aisle but manages to not publicize Bill Maher, the million-dollar man.
Apparently it is safer to denounce hypocrisy and double standards from a perch at the Times if Obama gets a pass. Stanley Fish tackled this yesterday, mentioning Maher but ignoring Obama's own criteria for double standards; my impression is that he is on-line only.

I know. I think about all the little white boys growing up thinking - "sheesh, I suck".
As for example, Breitbart being called "fag" so many times.
This is a hallmark of liberals. Last time one called me a lesbian I asked them if I was supposed to be insulted by that since I have nothing against lesbians. And then I asked they considered calling a person gay an insult since they are supposed to be for the gays. I think Breitbart took pretty much the same tact. It works.

The Kindle commercials had a cute blonde lugging around giant, heavy, inconvenient books until a technologically savvy man showed her Amazon's reader.
I'm not sure what it means that the only ad I can think of that shows a man in a positive light is for a company named after a race of fierce warrior women.

Washington Examiner:Vice President Joe Biden addressed 87 wealthy Democrats last night attending a fundraiser at the home of Sen. John Kerry in Georgetown. As they dined on grass-fed New York strip steaks and white truffle mashed potatos underneath a outdoor tent, Biden criticized Republicans for being out of touch.
“These guys don’t have a sense of the average folks out there,” Biden said according to the pool report, “They don’t know what it means to be middle class.”
87 guests paid a minimum of $10,000-per-couple to attend the dinner.

Would anyone be surprised to know the remedies offered to get a better school climate have nothing to do with bullying?
Same remedy as for the higher rates of discipline issues among minorities.

"But there's another problem with identity politics: Unless it's directed against a specific scapegoat--such as blacks in the pre-civil-rights South--it leads only to unstable, balkanized coalitions. Blogger Keith Burgess-Jackson quotes the late Derrick Bell, developer of "critical race theory," railing against white women in a 2000 article:
Regretfully, as with so many other reforms in U.S. society, though often the result of efforts by Black people, affirmative action has been of far more help to Whites, particularly for White women. All too many White women, having reached positions previously closed to them, have transformed themselves into guardians of the status quo, opposed to persons of color who lack "traditional" qualifications.
Of course the multiculturalist left has attempted to solve this problem by scapegoating "white males" and trying to unite everyone else against them. One problem with that is that, as much as feminism has poisoned relations between the sexes, most women are fond of at least some men."

"I think it will shake some dollars out of well heeled progs for Obama."
TC,
I doubt it. The Soros, Bing, Lewis, Strong prog thieves were all invested in Skydragon air tax schemes. They all know the window is slamming shut and they all know that the demographic breeze in their face is freshening. The Gore loss set them on their heels and set off the investment in the Deaniac movement which saw voter participation rise from 55% in '00 to 61% in '04. Undaunted by Kerry's loss, they doubled down in '05 and hit big in '06 and '08.
The big prog money can read and count and they know that '10 was no fluke, just as they know that the Deaniac/occupooper contingent is absolutely no match for the Boomers marching into tightfisted geezerdom. The vast majority of progs are going to be begging for a sip of water before demographics swings toward the dumb side again and money can't fix that particular problem.

Palin was, apparently, unaware of the disadvantages of running for office, and was sold a bill of goods by people who thought there was nothing they couldn't accomplish. She was unsuited, and unprepared for anything except removing glitter and confetti after her Parade.
I felt sorry for her.
But the movie is really about the selection process, which seems to have doubled-down in a desperate effort to deny the mistake.
Look at your Primaries and the proud panoply of candidates vying for the nomination. If you can't recognize the errata of past performance, you're doomed.

Sarah is an anathema to everything the womans lib movement represents. She has all the qualities lacking in the progressives, attractivness, self-assurance, patriotism, and achievement. She must be destroyed.
Palin is the equivalant to placing the cross in the face of the evil one.

I said it the day McCain picked Sarah Palin.
Libs will have to destroy her.
She kills animals for food, she doesn't kill her own babies.
Libs consider her an UNCLE MOM to their cause. She isn't "down with the struggle".
You see, liberals cannot stand self sufficient, moral, talented, responsible, articulate attractive women.
They like Debbie WassTARDman-Schlitz types. Angry hacks who are unfulfilled in every way. Futhermore, it cannot be spiritually lifting to want to kill your own child, because you CAN.

I think it was a Good vs. Evil thing, personally. Still is. After reading all of her emails, just imagine anyone else, anyone, having 30,000 emails scrutinized by a pack of wolves, and not one email showing anything but a committed public servant competently doing his or her job. BenF-- your critical review of the HBO flick and Palin is clear, concise and may be right-- I have no idea because I haven't, and won't, see the flick. As far as your concern for conservatives political chances-- don't worry yourself about that. Conservatives will deal with whatever comes. You may want to worry about the fortunes of your own causes. The higher ed bubble is bursting, the welfare state is rapidly running out of OPM, and 'Bam, Nancy and Harry have steered the US to national bankruptcy and a dead economy bouncing along bottom so there'll be no tax dough to fund the causes you support. Those are the things you should be concerned with.

There just are demons, devils, and there is no reason why. You can think of them as features of the human nervous system or as genuine persons pictured in religious art as having horns or cloven hooves. They hate goodness and their reason for being is to get human beings to hate it, too. Everyone is subject to their proddings and urgings. Some people succumb to them completely, some are hardly swayed by them, and the rest of us fall in the middle of the spectrum somewhere.
Those of us toward the dark end of the spectrum hate the person way up at the light end. They aren't in control and they don't know why they hate her. The demons are in the driver's seat. Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.

You sound a little shrill, CT. Have you seen the movie? Will you see it?
No defense of your hero's qualifications, I see. Care to admit they didn't match up to Palin's? Or to proffer some bizarre metric wherein his added up to "qualified" but hers didn't?
And no, I doubt I'll bother with either of the Palin movies.

It's bizarre isn't it, like some bizarre dystopia, perhaps the Hunger Games, when one has to 'arrogate' to claim back your own identity, because some rumor mongers have stolen your persona, and the testimony of everyone who vouched for you, from Steven Beigun to AB Culvahouse,to Lise Klein (the wardrobe specialist) to Van Flein, her attorney, doesn't exist.
Meanwhile the perfidy of real scoundrels, is also conveniently airbrushed;

Have mercy, Cecil. It's got to be heartbreaking to face up to the fact that their most qualified candidate was only there by virtue of being "married" to a president and carpetbagging into a Senate seat via droit du seigneur. Earning it the old fashioned way, as it were.

Basic principles of Critical Race Theory (CRT):
1. “Racism is ordinary, not aberrational”;
... so this means that whole "post-racial" thing was all bull shit ?
