Nothing personal, TK. Happy hunting with the Posse and good night, all.

He said "facts suggest" at the press conference? I will have to double check. Right now all I see is a reporter saying that.

Good night MJ. All in good fun.

Good night Threadkiller.

Now that's funny.

I understand how research works but they are the one's calling press conferences saying that "facts suggest..." and using that as the example of a fact. Pretty weak.

For someone who says he did not watch the presser, you sure think you know exactly what was said and why.

daddy

Matt on the previous thread commented about the White House using their official Govt site to try to get a petition to have Rush Limbaugh removed from the AFN (Armed Forces Network).

Here is the petition linked by Matt: Sec. Panetta, Get Rush Limbaugh Off Armed Forces Radio NOW! No tax money for abusive, divisive, insulting language.

Could someone with a bigger microphone than I please put out to Instapundit or American Thinker or Rush or O'Reilly etc , that wherever AFN is broadcast, in Japan or in Korea or in Europe, that the individual who immediately precedes or immediately follows Rush Limbaugh's AFN Broadcast is Ed Schultz. That's 5 days a week, Monday thru Friday.

Here for instance is the link to the AFN Radio Schedule for Europe

Here's the broadcast schedule for Japan

So the White House is using their Taxpayer funded website to orchestrate a drive to get a particular radio announcer, who used the word Slut, booted off the AFN Network, while ignoring another radio announcer, who used the same word Slut, and who immediately follows or immediately proceeds Limbaugh on AFN Broadcasts 5 days a week.

If that is not selective prosecution then I don't know what is. And we're paying for it.

Please get this out there and lets go on offense.

A Casual Observation

So far, Breitbart's "smoking gun" has
turned out to be a leaky water pistol,
which made Sean look pretty foolish,
while making Obama look pretty good,
actually. If that is all that they have,
they had better pack it in before they
become more of an embarrassment
to Republicans than they are already.

But then, Breitbart's juvenile pranks
were always like the juvenile stunts
which that jackass, G. Gordon Liddy,
pulled at Watergate, only to have it
blow up in face as this gag will, also.

A Casual Observation

* blow up in [his] face as this gag will, also. * (Argh!)

Happy Birthday Mr. Clarice!

I think I read a couple of days ago that the armed forces rejected that idea (of getting rid of Rush).

Thanks, Jane. It was the 6th, but I'll pass it on.

Cecil Turner

I'm not expecting much but I'd love to be surprised.

That buzzfeed video was a complete non-event (actually a very nice introduction). Ogletree's disclaimer seems a fairly standard protest-too-much about supposed racist impact on the vote. Didn't see the Hannity thing . . . was there more to it than that?

If not, I'm going to have to side with the lefties on this one: no "there" there.

Jack is Back!

daddy,

They don't call it "A-farts" for nothing. Unlike the British Forces Network it is not independent of DoD. But if they tried to do this the rank and file and officer corps would scream bloody murder.

OT: According to the Regime, they don't need no steenking Congress to attack Syria but only the tip of a hat from an international tribunal.

Here is Andy McCarthy to explain.

Ignatz

--Ig, there's wrangell Island and Wrangel Island one of which is Russian and one Alaskan.--

Yeah, clarice but Wrangell Island is in the SE panhandle and no one disputes its ownership.
Wrangel Island was first landed on, or at least claimed anyway, by an American in the 1800's and there was some considerable dispute about who owned it, even though it is way closer to Siberia than Alaska.
I'm not sure anyone but cranks are making a big deal out of it (I don't know anything about those other small islands that matt referred to) but there has been some long simmering dispute about Wrangel.

centralcal

Cecil, I have to disagree. Also, I think the whole point is not just about Obama and his lifetime of radical associations, but rather the media. Breitbart was more about exposing the media. How they shelter Obama.

What was exposed (albeit minimally) yesterday was not Obama and some racist professor. PBS Frontline and Buzzfeed Ben were the targets. Had you ever seen or heard about any of this "diversity" event before yesterday. I doubt it.

Ranger

Well, this doesn't fall within the approved narative (via Instapundit):

The Influence Industry: Obama gives administration jobs to some big fundraisers

Obama campaigned on what he called “the most sweeping ethics reform in history” and has frequently criticized the role of money in politics. That hasn’t stopped him from offering government jobs to some of his biggest bundlers, volunteer fundraisers who gather political contributions from other rich donors.

More than half of Obama’s 47 biggest fundraisers, those who collected at least $500,000 for his campaign, have been given administration jobs. Nine more have been appointed to presidential boards and committees.

A warning shot from the WaPo?

Or is DC chafing under the efforts to create "Chicago on the Patomac"?

Old Lurker

JiB, I was just reading the McCarthy link and others and my overall reaction is just so much sadness. Levin is correct that we are well into the Post Constitutional phase of the grand experiment set in motion by our Founders. Who knows where this all ends.

Bringing this over from the last thread just to make sure it's seen:

--Anywhere else it would be considered to be, at best, in bad taste that a married, adult man has a peculiar obsession with posting softcore porn here, and the word, married, is the buzz word there. But on this blog, well, you've already seen for yourself what pases for intelligent life forms here.

Posted by: Dianne | March 08, 2012 at 06:30 AM--

If Dianne is my beloved ACO/Anne, didn't you already tell me I wasn't married and couldn't get a date on Saturday nights?
Do clothed women, by themselves, doing nothing other than sitting or standing (admittedly less than maximally clothed) count as soft core porn these days? If so I guess just about every country market and hardware store I went into as a child (and many today; Stihl Chainsaws is famous for it's swimsuit calendar as is Pirelli) was a smut peddler since they had similar (or more revealing) pinup calenders hanging on the walls for every mother's son daughter and husband, not to mention every mother, to see.
I pointedly asked if anyone was offended to please let me know and heard not a peep, only encouragement. Since I have now heard a peep I'll refrain from offense.

But, thinking about it, what's more objectively offensive, a few pictures of attractive women or the interminably repeated references to the First Lady's fat ass and calling her Moochelle and Wookie and the constant slamming of her bad fashion sense and her underbite and her looks in general?
Or claiming that Rush shouldn't apologize for calling this Fluke woman a slut and a prostitute?
Or the merciless comments about Hillary, and Huma and Debbie Whatshername Shultz?
Aren't they all somebody's sister, daughter, mother too?
I don't mind people writing those things and have so indulged myself occasionally, but I'm having a somewhat difficult time figuring out what the community standards are around here. Nevertheless, being a good citizen, I'll mind my P's and Q's.

“The Choice,” which featured a version of the same video: Obama introducing Derrick Bell

Steve J - Frontline didn't show the whole thing. Breitbart saw it and wanted to see all of it - then tracked it down and got it from the Boston station.

**

I guess I could say this once more to the people who are saying this is a nothingburger.

The Breitbart method, as seen with ACORN:

1) Release a dud - media spin, ho ho ho, Breitbart's got nothing
2) Release something a little sharper - media have to change spin a little, but keep spinning
3) Rinse and repeat till media look like fools
4) Breitbart wins

The "nothingburger" to begin the cycle is part of the setup.

We'll see.

Speaking of The Constitution:

" It’s the Constitution stupid!

What makes a news site like the National Review produce such an Orwellian, Alinsky style or just plain sloppy article?

The article begins with a Alinsky style attack on Maricopa County sheriff Joe Arpaio by stating “beclowns himself and his wayward admirers.” Who is the clown in this scenario, Arpaio, doing his job and seeking the truth, or The National Review with this article?

The following could not have been crafted better by the “Times” of Orwell’s “1984″ or Joseph Goebbels of Nazi Germany:

“There is very little to add to the discussion of the facts of the case. President Obama’s short-form birth certificate (the “certificate of live birth”), which is authoritative evidence in any U.S. court, has long been available for inspection, and the archival records from Hawaii (the “long-form birth certificate”) also have been released. Public officials of both parties have confirmed that the president was born in Hawaii. Every judicial proceeding on the matter has confirmed this, and contemporaneous birth announcements in the Honolulu newspapers documented the birth of Barack Hussein Obama in Hawaii in 1961. There is not a single piece of credible evidence to support claims to the contrary.”

I will add something to the “discussion.” In NC we call it facts.

1. Regarding the COLB, short form birth certificate.

a) Obama never presented one in court or any other document he has been challenged on. b) Had Obama presented a COLB to a court. Any competent challenger attorney would have it thrown out as evidence because it does not prove Hawaiian birth. c) A COLB in some states or even Hawaii might be sufficient to prove US citizenship in a courtroom. The requirement for the presidency is Natural Born Citizen. d) Obama has not presented a certified copy of a long form birth certificate when challenged in court. e) A long form birth certificate image was placed on WhiteHouse.org by someone. f) The image placed on WhiteHOuse.org has been proven to be a fraud. g) Irrespective of the proof of fraud, the image has at the bottom the phrase “or abstract” which automatically disqualifies it as being a certified copy.

2. “Public officials of both parties have confirmed that the president was born in Hawaii” Former Governor Linda Lingle, who never saw a birth certificate and is not qualified to evaluate it or current Governor Neil Abercrombie who could not find a birth certificate?

3. “Every judicial proceeding on the matter has confirmed this,” This is an outright lie! No judicial proceeding has confirmed Obama’s Hawaiian birth!

4. “contemporaneous birth announcements in the Honolulu newspapers documented the birth of Barack Hussein Obama in Hawaii in 1961.” Did they go to the Bill O’Reilly school of journalism. I am reminded of the phrase: “Are you smarter than a fifth grader?”

5. Obama is not eligible anyway. He is not a Natural Born Citizen because his father was Kenyan/British.

National Review, I am available for questions or debate."

Did NRO beclown themselves? The COLB has been judicially verified?

I think not.

Ignatz

--did I say that?--

Kinda Chubby. When I gave as examples the disrespectful comments about the first lady's broad arse and Hillary et al to juxtapose the cheesecake I had posted, you replied that trashing political opponents was mainstream while the cheesecake only became mainstream with Hefner, so I'd have to say that is certainly what you seemed to be saying since those were the only two issues on the table.
If you meant something else my apologies for misunderstanding.

Cecil Turner

Breitbart was more about exposing the media. How they shelter Obama.

I think there are far better examples than this. As far as I can tell, Bell was an actual professor of law, with publications, and his views are more mainstream than BLT propounders like Wright (while also being in a profession which by its very nature encourages such mental exercises). Moreover, Obama, as the first black president of the law review, was a natural to be involved in diversity exercises and could be expected to seize on Bell's work for tactical advantage if nothing else. And an introduction of a public speaker is commonly an over-the-top hugfest. Guilt by association won't work, especially since Bell's death, and there's nothing about the clip that I find particularly newsworthy. And besides, it has been aired before. Hence the media protection angle falls more than a little flat.

A collection of clips of sycophantic questions by the white house pool (with perhaps a flashback to the softballs pitched by Jeff Gannon . . . much derided by lefties as propagandist . . . that look like zingers by comparison) would be far more persuasive IMHO. Along with a few obvious queries about budgets (or lack thereof) and how he thinks cutting .1% of a planned 10% spending increase leads to a deficit reduction. But I won't hold my breath.

Jane

Cecil,

Thomas Sowell said Bell's views were akin to those of a "young Hitler" so I'd say they aren't mainstream. He loved Farrakahn and certainly would have had no problem with Wright.

Ben Franklin

Cecil;

That makes two things we agree on in what, 7 years of sharing?

btw; the other thing had to do with 'Thick as a Brick', as you may recall.

narciso

As has been pointed out, this was not a onetime thing with Barack, in his law school syllabi and the pattern of the policies he has adopted.

Chubby

((As far as I can tell, Bell was an actual professor of law, with publications, and his views are more mainstream than BLT propounders like Wright ))

have you read the article that Clarice linked to in a newer thread?

Can You Judge A President by His Jew-Hating Friends?

LUN

Cecil Turner

Thomas Sowell said Bell's views were akin to those of a "young Hitler" so I'd say they aren't mainstream.

I just read summaries, but they didn't seem too far out there to me. (Essentially he critiqued civil rights law as neglecting the societal effects in perpetuating a favored class.) I have little doubt he'd consider Farrakhan and Wright political allies, but I suspect most black Americans would at least be sympathetic.

Besides, he was a tenured professor of law at Harvard (the first black one). There is simply no credible case to be made that a Harvard law student (and especially the first black president of the law review) shouldn't look up to him.

Cecil Turner

have you read the article that Clarice linked to in a newer thread?

I have, and found it uncompelling. Note that the quote espousing Bell's supposed beliefs is written by someone other than Bell. I wouldn't accept that as a legitimate takedown of someone on the right, and I'm even less accepting of it when the subject is unable to defend himself.

narciso

Well this includes a better cross section of what he thinks;

Chubby

((If you meant something else my apologies for misunderstanding.))

I can understand your confusion because I'm trying to sort out myself why I feel more tolerant toward vulgar political commentary than I do toward "cheesecake" images on a political blog. Besides issues of ease of scrolling and appropriate venue, ISTM that political commentary of the sort you cited has followed the Hefnerization of society and so is not causal, but is more effect, and I take less issue with effect than cause, because if you go after effect more than cause you are just lopping off branches and not getting to the root of the tree.

I'm still thinking about it.

there's the rub. if the hallowed halls of ivy league academe had no problem with him, it will be hard to make a case that there is problem with Obama associating with him

glasater

Since the blacks in the population of the US are roughly thirteen or fourteen per cent, we would have been better off making a mandate or quota system comprising of those numbers.

Fourteen percent of commercials on TV will have blacks in them and so on.

Perhaps that would have saved a lot of grief from the sixties on.

Ignatz

--I can understand your confusion because I'm trying to sort out myself why I feel more tolerant toward vulgar political commentary than I do toward "cheesecake" images on a political blog.--

I'm wondering why I tend toward the opposite, Chub.
I suspect it's because the images have been pretty tame (as I said above, tamer than my local barber used to hang on his wall in the sixties)and the models have consented to having their images spread all over creation.
Not sure Michelle Obama or Huma consented to being defamed left, right and center. I suppose the understanding it comes with the territory is an acknowledgment of reality, but I'm not sure that constitutes consent to be called things or accused of things that would be actionable were they private citizens.
