Comanche Voter

The Won has been losing a lot of these political and public relations battles these days.

I am, of course, totally shattered by his reverses. And if I'm completely shattered by his loss on election night, I think a couple of stiff celebratory bourbon and waters will fix me right up. You know Indians love firewater!

lyle

O's in it up to his jug ears.

QED

Sue

Where is Henry? A twitter feed is saying huge news is breaking soon out of recount in Racine. Anyone heard anything?

dublindave

"A poll suggests that Obama's invocation of executive privilege is not a political winner."

I thought this about resolving unanswered questions for the Terry family, not hurting Obama in the polls?

'Oh yeah, the Terry family, sure, sure, sure. This tragedy needs answers, sure. We need to get to the bottom of this so that the,uh,the Terry family can find closure, sure.'

daddy

It is interesting to observe what we are invited to believe about human nature as the Political slide under the microscope shifts.

When it's a Republican Administration, as In the case of Valery Plame, we are to believe that "I heard that too", and "Words to that effect", are full scale admissions of elaborate conspiracies designed to out an Agent, yet at the same time we are too believe that Andrea Mitchell's "Everybody knew she was CIA", was just an anachronistic slip of the tongue.

Yet now that it is the Dem's under the microscope, ala F&F, we are invited to believe that High Justice Officials who were required to read proposals for wiretapping permission, only read innocuous, nondescript summaries of proposed wiretaps, no one ever asked questions, and no-one ever knew nothing 'bout nothing regarding the specifics of the operation.

matt

daddy, one of the key functions of gatekeepers such as Holder is plausible deniability. So it depends how close the news got to Obama.

We do know that there was a strong link at a 3rd/4th tier level between DoJ and the WH and that F&F was being closely monitored.

We do know that Holder was briefed immediately on the death of Agent Terry and that his #1 aide was briefed immediately when the weapons used were traced to F&F. What happened next and what they can get away with are the next questions.

Issa has to create an airtight case, especially against the White House if that is where it leads. Actually, the case would better be created by an experienced prosecutor.

lyle

Dumbass Dave knows one thing more than the White House does: the name of slain border patrol agent, Brian Terry. But wee Davy really doesn't care all that much about Terry. After all, Terry was just a mindless killbot former Marine and probably a Republican as well. So he's dispensible.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet

Since no experienced prosecutor has been assigned the case, Matt, (very) experienced prosecutors Meehan and Gowdy will have to do.

Gus

Lyle WeeWeeDouchebagDavey, is both immoral and dishonest. Not to mention retarded.
I don't read his crap anymore, it's useless.

Ignatz

--I thought this about resolving unanswered questions for the Terry family, not hurting Obama in the polls?--

The invocation of excutive privilege is about NOT resolving unanswered questions for the Terry Family, dumbass, which is probably part of why it's a loser for him. And since he invoked it, whether it hurts him or not is entirely at his discretion.

BTW your "?" was superfluous. Now that I think about it, all of your comments are, so disregard.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet

Of course, getting the documents requested should be of some help.

dublindave

But wee Davy really doesn't care all that much about Terry.

I wouldn't say 'I don't care'.Every loss of human life is inherantly tragic.I'm a little sickened by Republicans parading Terry's corpse through Washington in an effort to score political points.

Side-show antics get Republicans excited because they've run out of actual ideas for Governing the country(apart from Tax breaks for Billionaires and dickensian type industrial practices).

Tom Maguire
I thought this about resolving unanswered questions for the Terry family, not hurting Obama in the polls?

Do you really suppose that Team Obama is motivated exclusively by a desire to get the truth to the Terry family? I would have guessed that they are managing this for political expedience.

Since the exec privilege claim polls badly, they will either try something else or (if the underlying docs are vexing enough) just tough this out.

Porchlight

daddy, one of the key functions of gatekeepers such as Holder is plausible deniability. So it depends how close the news got to Obama.

Everyone should read the linked McCarthy piece on OCDETF. That is a real eye-opener. The circle of plausible deniability shrinks to about nickel size after OCDETF is factored in.

maryrose

Obama knew, Holder knew and now it is all about erasing the paper trail and confiscating computers and hard drives. By the time they get a real prosecutor, all the real evidence will have disappeared .The opposite of the Blago situation where intervention occurred so as not to have Obama on tape making a deal with the governor.

Gus

Just a "wee" hunch. The documents, as they curretnly exist, clearly lead directly to Holder, then Obama's offices.
Obama did not invoke executive privilege for "goodness" sake.

Frau über Leichen gehen

Progressives and their useful idiots do not care about Brian Terry because his murder does not make the military and the President look evil as was the case with Pat Tillman's accidental death from friendly fire. Talk about stepping over dead bodies to achieve a political gain!
Pfui!

lyle

I'm a little sickened by Republicans parading Terry's corpse through Washington in an effort to score political points.

What's sickening is that the US Government provided the guns to produce the corpse, asshole.

Captain Hate

Don't forget to add Jaime Zapata to the victims.

lyle

Don't forget to add Jaime Zapata to the victims.

Good point, CH. Now we have two corpsemen, to say nothing of hundreds of dead Mexicans.

windansea

I'm a little sickened by Republicans parading Terry's corpse through Washington in an effort to score political points.

Hmmmm...wasn't it just the other day that dudu was parading Trayvon's body around and telling us even if Zimmerman got off it was a win win situation for libs and gun control?

Gus

Melinda Romanoff

I'm willing to bet that iBama knew very little about this until valjar poked him. "Just sign this, sir."

Danube of Thought

"I thought this about resolving unanswered questions for the Terry family, not hurting Obama in the polls?"

Funny. I thought two days ago it was all about what a smashing PR victory this was for Obama.

Pops

So the Supreme Court basically said that if the Obama adminstration, like the Clinton adminstration, wants to allow a terrorist like Muhammed Atta to come into the country on an expired Visa; no state is allowed to stop Atta on his way to bringing down the twin towers.

dublindave

"Hmmmm...wasn't it just the other day that dudu was parading Trayvon's body around and telling us even if Zimmerman got off it was a win win situation for libs and gun control?"

Proving that I may be skanky, but at least i'm honest when it comes to recognizing the political benefits of a tragedy.

TM's lead-in drops the pretense that the 'fast and furious' investigation is being carried out for the benifit of the Terry family. The Terry family are simply being used as pawns to exact the maximum amount of political damage on a Democratic administration and you're delusional to think otherwise.

At least my cynical take on the 'Trayvon Martin' case has dimensions of nobility, because ultimately i'm talking about saving lives through tighter gun restrictions.

Ya'll just wanna win a f***** election.

Danube of Thought

"Every loss of human life is inherantly tragic."

Really? Then how come Dems parading bin Laden's corpse through Washington in an effort to score political points didn't sicken you ? Was the death by Hellfire missile of Anwar Awlaki tragic?

I think ol' DuDa is experiencing the bedspins right about now. Reach out and put your palm flat on the wall, Dave.

Pops

dublindave: "I'm a little sickened by Republicans parading Terry's corpse through Washington in an effort to score political points."

No, its because liberals keep saying, 'why are we discussing this? This is a none issue, etc. etc. If liberals don't like to hear the name Brian Terry, then stop voting for politicians that give guns to Mexican drug gangs. Its really not too much to ask to hire people who can handle simple tasks like this...when you put affirmative action candidates in as President and AG- this is what you get.

Pops

""I thought this about resolving unanswered questions for the Terry family, not hurting Obama in the polls?""

Yes, but hurting Obama in the polls is a natural side affect of telling the truth.

Why do you think the Lamestream media ignored the story for 18 months.?

Pops

Have you heard any outrage from Obama that his adminstration was giving guns to Mexican gangs that killed hundreds of Hispanics and two Federal Agents?? Did he do any investigating? Fire anyone? Hold anyone upto ridicule?

Look at his comments on this versus his much voiced outrage at people taking vacations to Las Vegas, his hatred for Wall Street, etc.
Funny how this slaughter of humans, some his own agents, barely raises his eyebrow compared to trivial matters like Sandra Fluke being called names.

Its as if he knew what exactly was happening and the aftermath long ago.

Donald

That was probably about 5 weeks ago windandsea (not being flippant), but yeah that completely depraved cocksucker said exactly that.

It's ok that you're a cocksucker mr Dublin, but you'll deny it, cause you're just that kinda moron who doesn't pay attention to you're dishonest drivel.

Revel in your being.

Rick Ballard

McCarthy's piece on OCDETF is interesting but I'm left wondering how the take down of the Mexican narco-terrorist king pins was to be accomplished without extensive coordination with the Mexican government. From McCarthy's description, there had to have been a detailed strategy committed to paper and some assessment of the collateral damage (the murders of hundreds of Mexicans by narco-terrorists armed by Obama/Holder) must have been included.

Doesn't State have to have a piece of this garbage? How were warrants for the arrest of Mexican narco-terrorists supposed to be executed in Mexico?

matt

with all due respect there is the matter of 150 -200+ dead Mexican civilians, along with who how many Zetas at the hand of this program. I don't think God checks passports.

As mentioned, Issa has a lot of stuff already. It is quite possible that he is sandbagging Holder politically, but somewhere in this mess there are a couple of indictments in order.

This isn't just a matter of a program gone bad. It was a malevolent program from the outset. The stated purpose was to put high powered firearms into the hands of known murderers. It originated at a very senior level that would in most administrations have required top level sign offs. The fingerprints of the top brass are all over the case.

The coverup has been pretty well established as well at this point.maybe we should do some political theater in front of the DoJ. We can all dress like they do on the day of the dead. It would be deeply appropriate.

Gus

Obama cared when SKITTLES was killed.
Obama DID NOT CARE, when HIS GOVT allowed Brian Terry and HUNDREDS of MEXICANS to be killed because of a LIBTARD POLICY against guns and our right to possess them.

windansea

At least my cynical take on the 'Trayvon Martin' case has dimensions of nobility, because ultimately i'm talking about saving lives through tighter gun restrictions.

sorry dumbass, for the 2nd time

The highest gun homicide rate is in Washington, D.C., which has had the nation’s strictest gun-control laws for years and bans concealed carry: 20.50 deaths per 100,000 population, five times the general rate. The lowest rate, 1.12, is in Utah, which has such a liberal concealed weapons policy that most American adults can get a permit to carry a gun in Utah without even visiting the state.

Gus

No RICK the State Department only get involved when PIPELINES carrying OIL enter the U.S.

"Last week it was reported that the State Department and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were deeply involved in the scandal known as Operation Fast and Furious, or Project Gunwalker. Today, however, new evidence has surfaced indicating that not only was Hillary deeply involved in the scandal but was one of the masterminds behind it.

According to investigative citizen journalist Mike Vanderboegh, sources close to the development of the Gunwalker scheme state that early on, Hillary and her trusted associated at State, Andrew J. Shapiro, devised at least part of the framework of what would later become Operation Fast and Furious. It was Shapiro who first described the details of the proposed scheme early in 2009 just after the Obama Administration took office."

I would add that the President's home town of Chicago was barely edged out as Murder City USA and has similarly restrictive gun laws.

There are more murders in Chicago per year than there are combat deaths in Afghanistan.

narciso

Well we know similar operations were run through back channels, like the machine guns weapons that Morrow provided to Calles to suppress the Cristero rebellion,

Gus

Can we call Chicago "an OVERSEAS'S CONTINGENCY operation"?

Bill in AZ sez it's time for Obama/Holder murder trial in Mexico

"Last week it was reported that the State Department and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were deeply involved in the scandal known as Operation Fast and Furious"

Prolly a good reason Hillary! looks like hell, and there isn't a major push for Zero to step out of the way. Hillary will have a hard time running this country from her Mexican prison cell.

Gus

OBAMA LIED PEOPLE DIED.

Comanche Voter

Dublin Dave let's play it this way. We each concede that Issa and Holder are a pair of macho schmucks. I think there may be more evidence of the "macho" in Issa, but certainly they're both schmucks.

Holder lied to Issa last year, and got caught and had to "retract his statement"--and Issa is naturally pissed off about that. Macho guys don't like to be caught lying and they sure as heck don't like to be lied to.

This whole megillah is partly about guns, partly suspicion about an underlying grand Obama Holder plan to weaken the Second Amendment that didn't work, partly about a dead Border Patrol Agency and another dead Federal employee (ICE I think). But mostly it's about two macho schmucks posturing over a series of lies.

And the lies came from Holder. If you or I make a false statement to a federal officer it's a felony. Title 18 USCA Sec. 1001 is the citation to that provision of the law. That's been the law for maybe 100 years. So we can go to jail for that.

When The Attorney General of The United States of America makes a false statement to Congres well, that's just an "oopsie" in Holder's mind. Not so in Issa's mind--he's ticked off about it. And he's right to be ticked off.

Then The Won puts his foot in the meadow muffin and issues an Executive Privilege Statement in an effort to protect his "mentally challenged" little buddy, Eric Holder.

The first fight was dumb; Obama jumping into it was and is dumber.

matt

I think Obama is going to be down in the bunker on Thursday morning. The Health Care decision and contempt for Holder vote all in one day.

dublindave

Really? Then how come Dems parading bin Laden's corpse through Washington in an effort to score political points didn't sicken you ?

I seem to recall a rather muted Democratic party simply thanking the Military personel involved, then moving onto more pressing issues such as the economy.

It's not like Obama landed on an aircraft carier decked out in a uniform he never had the courage to actually wear in battle.

Like him or loathe him, it's hard to argue that President Obama isn't a cool cat.Bin laden dead, let's move on.

That's how Democrats roll.

bgates

ultimately i'm talking about saving lives through tighter gun restrictions

We want to restrict the flow of guns going into Mexico at the behest of administration officials, and you're opposed to that.

windansea

I'm left wondering how the take down of the Mexican narco-terrorist king pins was to be accomplished without extensive coordination with the Mexican government.

This was never the plan, Holder stated that F&F was "to stem the illegal flow of firearms from the United States to drug cartels in Mexico"

But not through interdiction, gps monitoring, surveillance or coordination with Mexican authorities, since none of this ever happened. The guns were allowed to walk across the border.

The plan was to let the guns make their way to the cartels, get used in crimes, get confiscated by the Mexicans and reported as US sourced weapons.

Holder and ATF could then roll up the straw buyers and brag about a major blow to the "Cartel gun smuggler pipeline" and "gee, we need stricter laws for these gun shops to stem the flow"

Might have worked except for the inconvenient death of Brian Terry.

narciso

It's very ACME, Rick, the potential for 'earth shattering kaboom' on this side of the border, was very likely.

Exactly, windansea. The WaPo was laying the groundwork too.

I'll leave that one for the lawyers here, but
the one guy they arrested in the Terry murder? His file has been sealed, name of judge who sealed it? That's sealed too.

Rick Ballard

Narciso,

It looks like this one got approved on the basis of an Underpants Gnome proposal rather than making it to the ACME level.

The longer I look at this, the more I believe President Calderon would be justified in sending a Mexican Black Jack Pershing after Holder. If we could send Black Jack into Mexico after Pancho Villa, I don't see why the Mexicans shouldn't send troops to collect the man responsible for aiding in the deaths of more Mexicans than Pancho Villa did Americans.

DrJ

Off.

MarkO

TK, I'm just a click away.

GMax

Well then hope that the Mexican have someone more successful that Black Jack who never caught Villa or Zapata.

pagar

"His file has been sealed, name of judge who sealed it? That's sealed too".

Classified security files endangering American military released before the ink is dry by the Obama regime. Name of people the Obama regime wanted to protect for the killing of Agent Terry, sealed tighter than Ft Knox vaults.

He had the courage to fly a jet interceptor in that uniform, and he flew it wherever he was told to go. Actually he would have better off with Pershing, or Patton:

Villa retired in 1920 and was given a large estate which he turned into a "military colony" for his former soldiers. In 1923, he decided to re-involve himself in Mexican politics and as a result was assassinated, most likely on the orders of Obregón.

windansea

Question for Holder under oath

You have stated that F&F was an operation to stem the flow of weapons from the US to Mexican cartels. We know from previous testimony that the gun shops were instructed to sell the weapons to straw buyers who were then allowed to transport the weapons to Mexico. Since there was no surveillance of the weapons nor coordination with the Mexican authorities, what came next in this plan to stem weapons flow to the cartels?

narciso

THey telescoped the last part of this, in the film;

Obregón won the 1928 Mexican presidential election, but months before assuming the presidency he was assassinated. President Calles's harsh treatment of Roman Catholics had led to a rebellion known as the Cristero War, which broke out in 1926. As an ally of Calles, Obregón was hated by Catholics and was assassinated in a restaurant on 17 July 1928, shortly after his return to Mexico City, by José de León Toral, a Roman Catholic opposed to the government's policies on religious matters.[35]

In Hollywood, this means "strung out on drugs":

"U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.’s office disclosed Monday that the veteran Democratic congressman has been on medical leave from Congress for the past two weeks and is being treated for exhaustion. 'He asks that you respect his family’s privacy'” the statement said, adding that his congressional offices remain open for constituents."

Let's read some tea leaves (with Allahpundit):

"...I’m embarrassed that it didn’t occur to me in the other post to ask whether any of the Court’s liberals have taken on a conspicuously lighter workload lately. Sotomayor’s written the fewest among the Court’s left wing, according to Sean Trende, but that might be due to the fact that she’s a junior justice and isn’t getting as many assigned to her.

"What’s Ginsburg been up to, though?

"There are three cases left on the court’s docket, and the cases will be released in reverse order of the authoring justice’s seniority — beginning with Justice Elena Kagan, the newest justice.

"Chief Justice John Roberts is expected to author the majority ruling in the health case — because of its significance and because Justice Anthony Kennedy authored the Arizona opinion, which was the second most controversial case of the term. Plus, neither he nor Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg have published any opinions since May 24. During that time, every other justice has published at least two majority opinions."

Then he delves into more complex scenarios.

I always maintained tihs stuff was all bullshit, but maybe I did so because I got it wrong so often. So my policy was go in and argue, let womebody else write the motion for reconsideration, and go on to the next case, where maybe my client would be the handsome young stranger or the widowed granny. But it never was....

Porchlight

Obama cared when SKITTLES was killed.

Correction. Obama didn't care when Skittles was killed. He appeared to care a few weeks later after his people were done digging up a white [sic]-on-black shooting case in FL that wasn't resolved to the race hustlers' satisfaction and would (Obama was told) redound to his electoral advantage with African-American voters (in a close swing state) if he got involved.

Pops

In a bit of schoolboy fit today, Obama took his ball and went home crying. He says he will no longer play with Arizona to enforce federal law.

Now would be a great time for all Republican governors to annouce they will no longer cooperate with Obamas failed immigration policy until he re-instates Arizonas program.

This would mean not co-operate in little things like,,,ohhh, providing State troopers for Obama adminstration officials security when they visit a state.

If Obama wants to go it alone, so be it, lets see some non-violent, none cooperation.
