Annoying Old Guy

Maybe Obama will also "update" the effect of Katrina on Mississippi to include Himself while he's at it.

Jim Ryan

Looks like the storm is going to hit NO on Wednesday. That means Romney won't be speaking on Thursday. He will be working on the relief effort.

Danube of Thought

Obama will travel to NO to upstage the RNC. That's the breaks. And the media will eat it up.

But screw it, we've always had to overcome the media.

henry

When Obama bans private sector help, there will be no relief. Idiot doesn't know history and will repeat the mistakes of the past.

daddy

If things are going so great for the Dem's I wonder why that Anti-Romney guy had a machete strapped to his leg in Tampa, and why Lizzy Warren's henchman roughed up a reporter?

Maybe they didn't get the memo.

Dave (in MA)

Daddy, you'd think Betsy Warren would have learned the lesson from the time one of Marcia's minions shoved a guy trying to ask her a question.

Clarice

NRO suggests the convention may turn to a relief effort altogether.

Thomas Collins

JR, that's inspired. Imagine watching Obama pontificate on Thursday while Romney is on the ground helping out.

matt

Is it true that Fauxcahontas carries a tomahawk strapped to her leg?

Ignatz

As Gmax pointed out it seems always to trend west of where they think it's going. I suspect TX will see it more than New Orleans.

PaulV

Who needs the rain the most?

Ignatz

Is that a transsexual joke?

daddy

FWIW,

Work related Airport forecasts for Tampa, Pensacola and New Orleans show the following forecasts for the 28th:

Tampa: FM281400 17014G22KT P6SM VCTS SCT015 BKN025CB

(from 1400 GMT on the 28th, winds gusting to 22 knots, visibility more than 6 Statute miles, thunderstorms in the vicinity, and a broken layer at 2,500 feet, cumulonimbus clouds)

Pensacola: FM281300 08028G38KT 6000 RA BR VCTS BKN008 OVC015CB QNH2958INS
TEMPO 2813/2815 11035G45KT 0800 +TSRAGS BKN005 OVC010CB T30/2719Z T19/2810Z

(From 1300 GMT winds gusting to 38 Knots, (temporarily 45 knots) visibility reducing from greater than 6000 to 800, heavy thunderstorms, rain and hail, 500 feet broken layer and 1000 foot overcast with cumulonimbus clouds.)

New Orleans: 08Z 30 BKN 0225G35 OCNL -SHRA =

(From 0800 GMT on the 28th, 3000 feet broken sky layer, winds gusting to 35 knots, occasional light rain showers.)

So overall, at least for airport traffic, Tampa no big deal, Pensacola looking ugly, and New Orleans so far no big deal, tho' I think the company would be putting on a little extra gas and giving us an alternate landing airport if we were headed to P'cola or New Orleans.

It does advise to look at continuing SIGMET Updates on Tropical Storm Isaac's track updates.

daddy

"you'd think Betsy Warren would have learned the lesson from the time one of Marcia's minions shoved a guy trying to ask her a question."

Dave,

Up here a big turning point in the Joe Miller/Lisa Murkowsky campaign was after a Miller Campaign even when Miller had completely left the area, a local Lefty reporter and his Cameraman kept heckling Miller's Security detail, so a Security Detail punched back and handcuffed the reporter. The Cameraman took a photo of the handcuffed reporter, and they played it up big as if Miller was there and encouraged or approved of it. That hit the News and radio's and paper for the next few days and Miller got creamed for it, so I don't see why Warren should get a break since she actually was there.

BTW, If Shep Smith unbuttons one more button we may be able to see his belly button.

MarkO

"BTW, If Shep Smith unbuttons one more button we may be able to see his belly button."

How am I supposed to eat dinner after reading that?

Ignatz

--BTW, If Shep Smith unbuttons one more button we may be able to see his belly button.--

Unless we were to either run screaming from the room or pull an Elvis first.

Dave (in MA)

I like how the Globe has to try to come up with an equivalent transgression on the other side. They also claim that the person of hench was merely a driver, not a staffer.

daddy

Do you guy's think the Taliban would decapitate people for playing Twister
or do you think they only have a problem with dancing?

Sue

Someone tell that poor girl that her ass looks a man's ass. I'm still not sure it isn't a man.

Threadkiller

If Shemp unbuttons his shirt one more button, we will see Anderson Cooper's love bites.

NK

the 3:30 and 3:34 Comments were below the belt.

sailor

Well, Shep is pretty disappointed in that NO hasn't been hit yet--but he's ready! Also said that the Republican Convention opened with a whimper! And, DoT, I agree--Obama will fly straight "into the storm" and save the people of New Orleans while Mitt is being nominated and also while Romney is saying Obama's a "nice guy."

Ignatz

-- I'm still not sure it isn't a man.

If it is, it would appear he is post-op.

Isaac-- just looked at AccuWeather Radar for soccer field repair rain info. I backed it out to the National view-- honestly I don't see rader evidence of a "Hurricane". I'm sure the weather guessers are right and it will form by Tuesday night, but right now- nothing to see.

Sue

Hey Ig,

Just for you.

Ignatz

Not cute enough for me, Sue.
They've got a pretty high bar to clear in Mrs Ignatz you know. :)

MarkO

Hey, Sue. I'm not a potted plant here.

MarkO

Obama's a nasty little man. Romney has already begun to express fake surprise about Obama's character. Several ads address it directly. I would like to see his campaign slowly drift toward the truth about him. He's just not likeable.

PaulV

Sue was noticing the engineering marvel, not the lass

Janet

Althouse on the movie 2016.
She posts a bit from Dreams...that has the line from Stanley - "They are not my people."

In the WaPo article "How Hawaii Shaped Him" by David Maraniss from 2008, Maraniss touches on Lolo working for the oil company too.

"He became a nondescript oilman, befriending slick operators from Texas and Louisiana who probably regarded him with racial condescension."

I remember because I wrote a letter to the WaPo saying that sounded made up!
"... Probably? How does Mr. Maraniss know this? Did he interview any of the "slick" operators? How did he know they were from Texas and Louisiana? Why is it assumed they regarded Mr. Soetoro with racial condescension? "

We've been dogging the MFM for years & it doesn't seem to make a difference. :(

Sue

Not cute enough for me, Sue.
They've got a pretty high bar to clear in Mrs Ignatz you know. :)

I was talking about the bra. Sheesh...

::grin::

Jane - talk is cheap!

Looks like the storm is going to hit NO on Wednesday. That means Romney won't be speaking on Thursday. He will be working on the relief effort.

That would be absolutely true to form. The only issue will be will the media cover it?

Sue

Paul,

Exactly.

MarkO,

I do not think you are a potted plant. For real.

Danube of Thought

That ass will do just fine.

What Rove said is akin to an outright forfeiture.

Sue

I just heard part of Chrissy Matthews' melt down. His head will explode if Romney wins. Another reason for a Romney win!

Captain Hate

Rove never knows when to keep his yap shut at a buffet or offering useless opinions.

sailor

Yes, CH, why does he do that? Ego or what?

49erDweet

NK @ 3:45 pm. Seeing nothing has been one of the possibilities all along. 20/20 hindsight is practically perfect.

daddy

"Someone tell that poor girl that her ass looks a man's ass."

Sue,

Look on the bright side. If that's Naomi Wolfe's arse, maybe she'll write a biography about it.

And if anyone cares, my recent Australian History read let me in on this unusual fact:
The testicles of marsupials hang in front of their tallywhackers!

So "Down Under" ain't really Down Under when it comes to Kangaroo penises.

daddy

For Chrissy Matthews fans, he was up here over the weekend, admitting that he doesn't know squat about Alaska or the Arctic, so standby for him to pontificate like an expert about both any day now.

'Hardball's' Chris Matthews admits he's Arctic softball

NJ Jan

I love JOM -- where else could I learn about Karl Rove 's latest opinions and kangaroo penises all in one place

DrJ

where else could I learn about Karl Rove 's latest opinions and kangaroo penises all in one place

There's a difference?

Sue

NJ Jan,

Absolutely!

Threadkiller

"There's a difference?"

To the dick that has a purpose, there is.

Sue

What if Rove is right? Will he still be a dick for predicting it? Or is it his prediction that caused it?

NJ Jan

Ok, I knew I was playing straight man when I posted.

matt

so speaking from an engineering perspective I must assume that somewhere out there because of the different kit there is a kangaroo position. It probably involved trampolines to boot.

Jack is Back

daddy,

Speaking of SIGMET are you at AIRMET ZULU yet in Alaska? When does icing start, BTW?

When I was at Sawyer in the UP and our race track was above 66lat we started Zulu in September. Brrrrr!

Janet

I'm goin' with his prediction caused it. There are certain political players that I'm sick of & he is one of them.

Sara

Yes, CH, why does he do that?

That's his job, that's what Fox is paying him to do.

Sue

I'm goin' with his prediction caused it.

Okay.

Sue

He said it to Politico, not on Fox.

Threadkiller

The Kanga Sutra.

Jane - talk is cheap!

Gee I missed the kangaroo penis talk.

DrJ

Jane, see daddy's post above at 4:39 if you must.

Sara

Jane:

I answered you at the end of the last thread. I saw the CNN special last night and it was excellent. Much longer than with Wallace. Turns out the Romneys shop at Costco and Ann buys Mitt's shirts in 3 packs there. Also he irons his own shirts and she was busy during the interview doing 14 loads of laundry, all the sheets and towels after the whole family went home after their week long vacation in NH.

BB Key

sue, The interview was with Mike Allen and it aired on CSPAN this AM and included questions from the audience composed of Michael Barone and other political jukies from the media . I did not see the entire segment but what I dib see I thought Rove was spot on and gave the MFM tons of grief .

Sue

BB,

The link above took me to Politico. Thanks for clarifying where he said it.

Sue

Turns out the Romneys shop at Costco and Ann buys Mitt's shirts in 3 packs there. Also he irons his own shirts

All of that was on the Fox interview.

Sue

Rove thinks Oregon might be in play. tip toeing out

Dave (in MA)

Ellen Barkin has her nutsack in a twist and wants Isaac to wash pro-life people out to sea.

Sue

Dave,

I was just reading about that. Man, I thought I had a trashy mouth. That woman makes me look like a saint.

Sue

You know, Barkin retweeted what someone else said. But even then, they say "pro life" like that is some kind of disease. The way I see it, pro abortion is the disease.

JM Hanes

"Rove never knows when to keep his yap shut at a buffet or offering useless opinions."

Garbage in, garbage out, whatever. The guy is shoveling a quarter of a billion dollars into Republican races.

Sue

The guy is shoveling a quarter of a billion dollars into Republican races.

Ixnay on the Overay. He's a ickday around here.

Clarice

Yes, and there's still time for Arkin to switch places with the person running for his Congressional seat. If we did n't listen to PPP polls and had a brain he'd do that.

Threadkiller

"Garbage in, garbage out, whatever. The guy is shoveling a quarter of a billion dollars into Republican races."

Are we talking about Trump now?

centralcal

Turns out the Romneys shop at Costco and Ann buys Mitt's shirts in 3 packs there. Also he irons his own shirts

I watched FNS interview twice yesterday and all of the above was in the Wallace interview, plus how Ann loves Costco, gave a detailed map of how to shop efficiently there and also said Mitt had done the laundry the night before.

------

Now back to my MFM bashing, and to phony Jake Tapper in particular, you have to read this piece by Joe Curl in Sunday's Washington Times. He just skewers him big time!

Jack is Back

Alan Arkin is running for the Senate? Who knew:)

NJ Jan

Re : Ellen Barkin -- barking mad doesn't begin to describe her.

Janet

You know who Barkin hates? She hates "slick operators" who regard Lolo "with racial condescension." They hate strawmen that the MFM have built. The evil strawmen appear in just about every article & every show on TV. The libs are crazy with anger at some made up phantom evil conservative.

Sue

Samuel L. Jackson

@SamuelLJackson

Unfair Shit: GOP spared by Issac ! NOLA prolly Fucked Again! Not understanding God's plan!

Let me help you out Mr. Jackson. Using God and f*cked in your lamentations isn't part of his plan.

centralcal

JiB - it is code, I tell ya! Arkin and Grove if you want to talk about certain folks without other folks getting their panties in a twist.

JM Hanes

Never fails, Janet. They fall for their own propaganda every time.

Sue

The convention goers have been met with giant vaginas. I wish I was kidding. The world has lost its collective mind.

Clarice

You know maybe celebs ought to stay off twitter. Just saying.

Sue

And Code Pink stay out of vagina costumes.

Dave (in MA)

She was totally believable as an obnoxious dude in that one movie. Now we know why.

Janet

Who would want to be a member of the Dem. party? They are SO loser. Their whole plan is to divide America into groups, make the groups hate each other, grow government so they & their cronies get to rule, and tax, tax, tax, tax, tax, tax, tax, tax, tax, tax,...
That's it. What losers.

Maybe the pantomime cooters are at the wrong convention.

NJ Jan

I hope the msm gives the pink vagina fools lots of camera time. Can't think of a better turn off to disgust the average viewer.

Jim Ryan

Would Romney have any apparatus by which he could take a lead in some part of the relief effort? A Mormon entity? Red Cross? Could Jindal use him? He will naturally want to do this. Anyone have any idea whether he could?

Threadkiller

pantomime cooters

LOL!!

Captain Hate

Yes, CH, why does he do that? Ego or what?

In his defense, he was asked his opinion. He could've been a bit less negative and surely would have if Akin was paying him.

I'm sure there's nobody that hasn't been in a coma that doesn't know that Akin really destroyed his candidacy. I just don't see the utility in continuing to pile on.

Sue

Newt to Chris Matthews hitting him for food stamps:"Why do you assume food stamps are for blacks. What kind of racist thinking do you have?"

Sue

Could Romney use Newt as his WH Press Secretary.

centralcal

Good for Newt, Sue! Where did you see that?

Rick Ballard

Obama beat McCain 57%/41% in Oregon. He beat McCain 55%/44% in Pennsylvania. The PVI for Oregon is D+4, Pennsylvania D+2. Wyden took 57% in the 2010 Oregon Senate race, Toomey beat Sestak 51%/49% in Pennsylvania. No House seats changed party in Oregon in 2010. Five House seats flipped in Pennsylvania and the total House vote was 51.4% to 47.5%, Republican.

Oregon cannot be in play and Pennsylvania not be in play. Watch the belt buckle, not the head fakes.

Captain Hate

Not understanding God's plan!

Probably doesn't include Snakes on a Plane 2 nor a remake of Black Snake Moan.

centralcal

Major Garrett ‏@MajoratNJ

Romney pol. dir. Russ Schriefer: full speed ahead, no #RNC12 changes despite Isaac. Has read Santorum speech & likes it.

Schriefer also says convos underway to use #RNC12 as charity/fund-raising vehicle for those impacted by Isaac. No decisions made.

Jim Ryan

Do I understand correctly that "waging war on women" is defined as either (a.) supporting the position that abortion is wrongful homicide or (b.) denying that women should get free abortifacients and contraceptives?

Janet

Just like Rush, Newt is very good at seeing that the underlying assumptions in the MFM questions & statements are wrong.

Extraneus

What if Rove is right? Will he still be a dick for predicting it? Or is it his prediction that caused it?

He would seem smarter and less dick-like to me if he had said "Akin misspoke, and he's feeling the heat for that, but let's face it - he'd be a far better senator than McCaskill, who has proven herself wrong for Missouri and wrong for America, just like Obama and the rest of their misguided party have." That's assuming he needed to say anything at all about it, but perhaps it's better for him to be known as a great prognosticator.

Sue

I saw it on a tweet. And meant to ask the question but looking at my post I kind of like it as a statement.

Jim Ryan

Sue, yes, I immediately thought Reince should have said, "Gee, Chris, most people on welfare or foodstamps are not black, but you immediately think of black people when you hear 'welfare' or 'foodstamps'. That's interesting. Maybe you assume most Americans make the same racist associations that go on in your mind, which makes you a typical liberal, but it doesn't make you right."

bgates

If there was anyone alive today who I thought understood God's plan for humanity, it was Samuel L Jackson.
