Rob Crawford

Hey, he got it right the second time!

Ralph L

We're not on our own.

hit and run

Everyone knows it's spelled A-H-I-A

Stephanie

Carried over to the pertinent thread.

For the full flavor of the WaPo correction realize this...

Mitt Romney Ohio spokesman Christopher Maloney thinks he’s caught President Obama in an embarrassing error — misspelling Ohio.

is the 'story' that the Ohio twit pic reporter reported the story as being the 'important' thing.

The correction says the paper thought the first photo (the one the Romney campaign tweeted about) was a photoshop.

So the correction is saying they thought Romney's campaign was photoshopping and posting the photoshopped pic.

Bias much?

Frau Duden

He will still get the dyslexic vote.

Clarice

Wait till CH sees this!

Go Josh!!

Captain Hate

I think they were afraid if they sent Biden he'd have called Ohio a 3 letter word.

Clarice

Heh..I knew you wouldn't disappoint me, CH!

NK

I'll repost this comment from the prior thread when Ranger linked the photo: no, no no no, Arabic is read right to left, so Bam meant it that way--
O-I-H-O

Charlie (Colorado)

You want a story? Even in the correction, admitting it wasn't Photoshopped, they STILL can't bring themselves to admit Obama made even a TRIVAL mistake..

Rob Crawford

Charlie -- the line I saw them pushing was "well, when viewed from the other wide, it was correct...".

Stephanie

Obama should make a toy gun with his right hand and hold it to his forehead. He'd probably decide to use his left hand, though, since first graders are taught to do that to tell L = Left.

Obama - not smarter than a first grader.

Danube of Thought

Isn't Obama left-handed? Like almost all southpaws, I wear my watch on my right hand. So could the pic be flipped?

I don't understand the stuff about the correction. I don't understand the correction itself.

PaulV

Were they wearing women's shirts in first photo that button on opposite side?

NK

narcissists can't stand being mocked. Keep mocking Bam and his AxelPlouffe crew-- it's working.

Ralph L

It looks more like OIHI. What does that say about the guy next to him, who's from Ohio?

Danube of Thought

Nope. The One wears his watch on his left hand.

The whole thing reminds me too much of the Village People.

NK

Village People?... hmm?... nah they had talent.

hit and run

DoT:
Like almost all southpaws, I wear my watch on my right hand.

I did not know you were a southpaw.

I too wear my watch on my right hand, but Obama has always worn his on his left.

He's a self-loathing lefty.

NK

Why does Obama wear his watch on the left wrist? he's left handed... does he do anything right?

NK

right = correctly

lyle

does he do anything right?

Smokes weed?

Have Blue

Momentary OT

Does the PPP poll that shows Akin ahead (with a Republican +9 sample)prove beyond a doubt that that PPP (and other pollsters) are fully aware of what they are doing with the rest of their polls, with samples in some cases going to Dem +19?

Clarice

Gotta run for a while. Just got an email saying I won 500 million dollars in a Royal Dutch lottery and I just have to provide some financial info to collect.

NK

smokes weed? I don't know about 'right' but he must do it alot and well.

Stephanie

DoT... nope. The watches are on the left hand in both pictures. If it was flipped, it would appear on his right. Ditto the shirt pocket on the blue shirted guy to O's right. It's on the right breast in both pics.

The correction says the WaPo initially suggested the Romney campaign sent out a 'photoshopped' photo to make fun of the campaign. The R campaign actually posted another pic that was taken before the D'Oh squad figured out they spelled it wrong and went to take two (or three, four, five... come on there are what 16 combos of OHIO they were bound to get it right... eventually).

Some guy

does he do anything right?

one thing*

*don't ever shake his hand

Stephanie

He will still get the dyslexic vote.

Not mnie.

Some guy

Careful Clarice, those things can be scams. When Muammar Gaddafi's finance minister emailed me promising $100 Million, I got hosed and only got $13 Million.

derwill

--Why does Obama wear his watch on the left wrist? he's left handed... does he do anything right?--

Hey, I resemble that remark. I'm left handed and I wear my watch on my left wrist. I want to claim that I'm smarter than Obama, but I got my BA from Sarah's alma mater, so there you go.

don't ever shake his hand

Ewwww! Never!

...what's the one thing he does right, though?

Captain Hate

A fellow moron @ AoS pointed out that Jake Tapper's first reaction was it was a photoshop. But he's really really somebody we can work with.

lyle

smokes weed? I don't know about 'right' but he must do it alot and well.

Meaning he does it...correctly.

lyle

What's with all the white boys, anyway?

NK

Can't say-- I do not partake of the weed

Melinda Romanoff

Some guy-

When I met him, you didn't want to shake his hand for other, more obvious, reasons. He was leaving the men's room, zipping up, dry handed.

And then offered to shake hands.

uh, no.

Just scrolled on by....

Ralph L

I'm left-handed but wore my watch on my left wrist. When I left DC in 92, I took it off for good. IIRC, I couldn't fasten the strap with my left hand. I can't throw a frisbee left handed either.

Enlightened

Well who cares anyway - Bambi is the highest ranking imbecile-in-chief evah, but us women of the GOP - we just hate our mothers, first wives, sisters, daughters, aunts, girlfriends, nieces, bitch dogs etc etc etc.

Puhleeze - get them out of the WH and get Pelosi on more meds asap.

NK

"What's with all the white boys, anyway?"
A very fair point-- any photo of Bam's ChiTown headquarters or a campaign stop has more white people than you can shake a stick at, plus some asian faces. To paraphrase Fred Sanford "I ain't so many white folks since the Mayflower movie." I guess Bam just don't get along with black folk.

Captain - have to correct the Tapper record on that moron report. Jake retweeted the actual blog author (at WaPo) apologizing for the photoshop assumption. I checked Tapper's Twitter feed, and other than the re-tweet, he made no comments at all about the Oiho photo.

Jim,MtnViewCA,USA

"I guess Bam just don't get along with black folk."
As a co-worker once said "I'm not Black, I'm African!". BHO is technically not AA, he's half African. Not that white people are allowed to comment on such things....

Captain Hate

Correction noted, cc.

Some guy

Melinda, you choose wisely.

lyle

I'm actually fairly ambidextrous. Why am I noting this? No reason. Carry on.

hit and run

Wait. Sorry. Went off of this list of left-handed presidents - but then there's Truman writing with his right hand. D'oh! Reagan also signed bills as president with his right hand.

Huh. Maybe they played pinochle left-handed or something.

Because I refuse to believe there was something on the internet that wasn't true.

Actually, it appears that legend has it that both Truman and Reagan were left-handers who were taught as kids to use their right hands.

America was much more discriminatory back then.

DrJ

it appears that legend has it that both Truman and Reagan were left-handers who were taught as kids to use their right hands.

Allegedly that happened to me too.

Jane - Get off the couch your country needs you!

It's clear that students are the next targeted group. So we have had women, illegals and now students. WHo did I miss and what's next?

You missed gays.

Who's next? Well, judging by their outreach in Minnesota, pedophiles.

GMAX

I am left handed as well, wrist watch is on my right wrist. Someone seems to be marching to their own drummer here...

Interesting article on expansion of school vouchers in IN and public teacher union reaction.
http://news.yahoo.com/indiana-public-schools-wage-unusual-ad-campaign-184331463.html
"Struggling Indiana public school districts are buying billboard space, airing radio ads and even sending principals door-to-door in an unusual marketing campaign aimed at persuading parents not to move their children to private schools as the nation's largest voucher program doubles in size."

GMAX

Did I type right ? (indeed you did moron) ). I of course meant left wrist. Back to the salt mines for the afternoon for me.

Jim,MtnViewCA,USA

What's with the polls? Did they all switch to Reg-Voters the same week? (via PoliPundit)

Barbara
Isn't Obama left-handed? Like almost all southpaws, I wear my watch on my right hand. So could the pic be flipped?

I noted that, too. I'm left-handed and always wear my watch on my right hand.

Jim,MtnViewCA,USA

Ah, it's a Likely Voter survey.

NK

OMG-- McMahon is up in Ct? good thing I didn't give money to Shays.I will never give money to McMahon, but maybe I'll canvas Bridgeport EDs for Linda. Somebody's gotta find the bogus Dem ballots in Bridgeport, might as well be me.

Porchlight

So could the pic be flipped?

In case it wasn't clear, there are photos from multiple sources showing "OIHO" and Obama's watch is on the same wrist in all of them. So either they're all flipped or none of them are.

Since we're all chiming in, I write left-handed and do almost everything else right-handed. No longer wear a watch, but when I did it was on my left wrist.

fdcol63

But I'm sure Soledad O'Brien is wondering about something more substantial .... like, to which side does Obama truss? LOL

Jim,MtnViewCA,USA

"No longer wear a watch"
It's interesting how, with ubiquitous cell phones, watches are now jewelry and not tools.

centralcal

Did you all see this on Drudge:

DOJ sues Gallup polling firm

Guess Holder isn't liking the polling results so far, so put pressure on them about other polling jobs they did in the past.

JM Hanes

"He's a self-loathing lefty."

LOL, hit!

Annoying Old Guy
come on there are what 16 combos of OHIO they were bound to get it right
.

12 combos. 4!/2! = 24/2 = 12. 4! ordered arrangements of 4 letters, divided by 2! because the 2 O's are the same.

With regard to photoshopping, others have pointed out you can see a bit of text on the red shirts behind which are clearly not flipped.

Danube of Thought

I bat and throw lefty, but write, shoot, and shoot pool righty.

Mike Flynn at Breitbart on AP's latest D+8 sample:

Do you know what I would like this campaign season? Just one media poll that is merely within the same time zone as reality. When Obama won election in 2008, the electorate was D+7. Democrat turnout that year was historic. In 2004, when Bush won reelection, the electorate was evenly split. Yet, every media poll this year seems to be working off the assumption that, this year, the electorate will be even more Democrat than it was in 2008. This is either madness or willful propaganda.

AP-GfK released its latest presidential poll this morning. Among registered voters, the race is essentially tied, with Obama holding a 1-point lead over Romney. This is down from a 3-point lead in June and an 8-point lead in May. Even with the heavy Democrat skew of the AP polls, the trend here is unmistakeable; Romney is steadily gaining ground on Obama, in spite of the heavy spending advantage the President has enjoyed throughout the summer.

Oh, there is one other thing I would like from the media polls this season: stop polling the political opinions of adults. First, there is generally a 7-9 point Democrat bias in polls of adults, compared to likely voters. But, more importantly, these people aren't registered to vote, and, consequently, will have zero impact on the election. The AP does report the head-to-head match up among registered voters, but every other question in the poll is based on responses from adults, not voters.

Yet, even with this big assist to the Obama campaign, the AP poll provides ominous signs for his reelection effort.

Among adults, Obama has a +9 favorability rating (53-44). But, in May, his favorability rating was +20. His favorability rating--again of adults drawn from a D+8 sample--is slightly lower than it was right before the 2010 mid-term elections.

Danube of Thought

Even the profs are getting wise:

DENVER (AP) - Two University of Colorado professors have devised a model to predict who will win the presidential election under current economic circumstances.

The victor, they say, will be Republican Mitt Romney.

The model uses economic indicators from all 50 states to predict the race's outcome. The forecast calls for Romney to win 320 electoral votes out of 538.

It says Romney will also win virtually every state currently considered a swing state, including Colorado.

The professors who created the model, Ken Bickers from CU-Boulder and Michael Berry from CU-Denver, say it correctly forecast every winner of the electoral since 1980.

Ignatz

If there's anyone who could spell the state that is round on both ends and high in the middle correctly you'd think it would be the Choom man.

Ranger

Via Instapundit, some nice stuff for the poll watchers:

Wargaming the Electoral College

I think this bit is well stated:

And so far, virtually all of that movement is Blue-to-Red, or the exact opposite of 2008. 2008 went Red-to-Blue because of a weak candidate of the incumbent party and a lousy economy. 2012 is going the other way… because of a weak candidate of the incumbent party and a lousy economy.

bio mom

Saw that about gallup. One abuse of power after another with these guys. We MUST DEFEAT THEM!!

JM Hanes

In praise of my own crystal ball:

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who is out-fundraising President Barack Obama by impressive margins, is attracting thousands of donors this summer from traditionally Democratic areas of the United States, collecting millions of dollars in even progressive communities from New York to Los Angeles, according to an analysis by The Associated Press of new campaign data.
Just in case there are those who can't recall my every word, I'd just like to take a quick victory lap jog down memory lane to the primaries, where I pointed out that Romney's clear advantage in urban/suburban enclaves would be a significant plus when it came to taking it to Obama on the blue party's home turf. I'm JM Hanes, and I approve this message.

Ignatz

I bat, throw, write and shoot left handed, but throw a frisbee and dribble a b-ball predominately right handed. Like lyle I'm relatively ambidextrous.
Wish I had learned to shoot right handed since I'm opposite eye dominant.
And my watch is on my right wrist.

Sara

Wasn't it Sue who schooled us on "Bless his heart?"

Romney Drops a "Bless His Heart" On Obama

Captain Hate

This may have been covered by you guys and I missed it, but Tammy Bruce is talking about how there's a legal loophole in Missouri that would allow Ann Wagner, a candidate for Akins congressional seat who is evidently very popular state-wide, to switch ballot positions with Akin.

Some guy

The professors who created the model, Ken Bickers from CU-Boulder and Michael Berry from CU-Denver, say it correctly forecast every winner of the electoral since 1980.

I would safely predict that their model is flawed. The ability to create models that are 100% *historically* accurate is very far removed from creating models that are forward accurate. In fact, in something with as many variables as national elections (or the economy or err... climate) it is nearly impossible.

Not that this stops people from trying.

MarkO

It takes a great deal of effort to pretend Obama is smart and to assume his idiocies are nuance or photoshopping.

He's just not that smart.

steve

Don't Muslims read right to left?

hit and run

I've mentioned it before. I bat left handed and play golf right handed. Couldn't do either with the opposite hand if my life depended on it.

I flip people off with both hands.

Jim Ryan

I got a fundraising letter from the Atheist Dyslexics asking if I believed there was a dog.

DrJ

I would safely predict that their model is flawed.

Agreed. I would bet that all they have a correlation, and correlation does not equate to causation and often has little predictive value.

Sara

Hit: You missed George HW Bush, who is a lefty. Which hand has their wedding ring? That would be more telling than the watch. My daughter is a lefty and she always wears her watch on her right hand. Let it be said that raising a redheaded left-hander deserves a medal for patience.

NK

SomeGuy/Dr J-- wait .... you mean the UC model doesn't make it a lock Bam loses? You've ruined my joy with math. Curse you!

Some guy

I bat left handed and play golf right handed.

That is a huge advantage in golf. In fact, it should be taught that way.

marlene

I'm left handed, don't wear a watch often, but yesterday had a bracelet repaired and by habit put it on my right wrist. About the Ohio spelling...remember when we had to learn the states/capitals and identify the states on a map? Did Obama ever learn the basic facts?

derwill

--Two University of Colorado professors have devised a model to predict who will win the presidential election under current economic circumstances--.

Uh oh. I remember some East Coast professor did something similar before the 2004 election that predicted Bush would win. The liberals shrieked and clutched their pearls (see we're not the only one's who do it), and absolutely pilloried the guy. He kept saying, Hey, I'm a Democrat and I'm going to vote for Kerry, but you can't with argue math. The Liberals insisted he should've altered the math to get the "correct" result.

Jim Ryan

I ride a bike left-handed.

Seriously. I have to kick the kick stand up, walk around to the other side of the bike and then get on the bike. Getting off, I have to walk around to the side with the kick stand and kick the kick stand down. I couldn't get off or on on the kick-stand side to save my life.

I used to swim left handed.

Barbara

Not that this is of any particular note or value...

I write, shoot, play tennis and even iron left handed. But I can only make the Spock sign for "Live Long and Prosper" with my right hand.

Sara

I'm right-handed, bat right, golf right, tennis right, but when it comes to opening tight jar lids, or using a screwdrive, I always use my left. Also, my dominant eye is left.

Clarice

That Wagner info is great. Hope it works.

Geez, that is so unlike me.

Last night at the tea party they played a 45 minute speech of Ronald Reagan's - stumping for Barry Goldwater in '64 - I guess.

It addressed all the issue we are talking about and was absolutely spectacular. He talked very fast and just had a few notes. He was great.

Leave it to Obama to put the OiHO, the Ho in Ohio.
If he can't spell it he can't win it.
I second the cry Go Josh Mandel now tied with Brown!
I'm right-handed and wear my watch on my left hand.
Wagner and Akin should switch and if Akin goes in the dumper in the polls they will.
