Talk about Red faces! The DNC tribute to veterans turned out to be a tribute to Russian veterans:
On the last night of the Democratic National Convention, a retired Navy four-star took the stage to pay tribute to veterans. Behind him, on a giant screen, the image of four hulking warships reinforced his patriotic message.
But there was a big mistake in the stirring backdrop: those are Russian warships.
Odd that the DNC would tip their hand that way.
It was a tribute to Cold War era veterans.
Of the Soviet Union.

Is this a new film opportunity that Air Force One can be in with fundraising on board?
Oh, wait....

"миссия выполнена".

My head is spinning. I can't keep up with all the spin. If this fool manages to remain in office, I think I'll eat a toad frog. The worst thing I can think of at the moment that won't get SS after me.

No WONDER Obama is thinking about "Jack Ryan". He's worried about whether Captain Marko Ramius is going to launch a missile!

Good one Dave.

I think it was meant to send a message, or heads should roll. Wasn't there some other picture that was ?? Canadian ?? but billed as US ?? military ??
Sorry, having a bleary-eyed senior moment here.

Well when you vehemently dislike the military these distinctions are just pro forma.
I highly recommend Andy McCarthy's The Grand Jihad,/i> to anyone wanting to understand the MB and the dangers of coming across as weak in dealing with a totaliarian culture. Individual Muslims may see it as just a religion to them but the the West it is a complete culture. It is dangerous to forget that.
I cannot do anything about the ME and this morning's tragedy but I can keep telling the story of the sought internal transformation so that's what I did. LUN
Karl shows up as I explain how educators are trying to make his statement about being determining our thinking real, not just an aspiration.
As we remember from Carter and Reagan, the first step in coming back is getting someone in the WH who loves this country.

posting with a cat nearby is a mistake.

Yes, Sara. I remember that. It was the camo pattern that gave it away.

You'd think the admiral would have turned around during rehearsal.

Would you turn your back on a room full of Democrats?
Posted by: Rob Crawford | September 12, 2012 at 12:09 PM
Ralph: They probably were dark during rehearsals. In fact, I think rehearsals consisted of height check for the mic and sound check, not actually giving the speech.
Posted by: Sara | September 12, 2012 at 12:10 PM
Governor Romney should start every speech, every presentation, every debate by saying: GOD I LOVE AMERICA! Then he can start pointing out the many things that his opponent/opposition has done, or said to counteract that statement.

You'd know better than I, Sara, but sometime before the show they must have put the images up.
Posted by: Ralph L | September 12, 2012 at 12:13 PM
"I think it was meant to send a message,"
IMO, the message it send was that the US military is disgusting to the DNC and the Obama regime.

Romney needs one of these signs to shut the media up:
Posted by: Ann | September 12, 2012 at 12:23 PM
That I don't know, Ralph. I'm only going on what I could see going on over the shoulders of pundits filling time and it looked like they were bringing the speakers on, showing them their mark and doing the other checks. It looked kind of like an assembly line. :)

From last night's 9/11 thread, in response to JMH asking about YGBSM, which was my response to the DNC and the Russian Navy images:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
JMH - Thank you. YGBSM = "You Gotta Be $hittin Me"
When I checked into my Navy A-7 squadron (VA-146) in '82, the acronym was in common use; all of the senior pilots were Vietnam era. I presumed that YGBSM wsa another of a long line of (informal) Navy acronyms. Upon further research this morning, I've learned that YGBSM is actually from the USAF Wild Weasel community, an excerpt:
I bet we've got some WW crew among the list who can give even more background.
The WW mission endures to this day, although the platforms are much evolved from the Vietnam era.
~~
Thanks also for your kind words about my posts. Actually, I was very greatly pleased to read your return from JOM hiatus. You are one of my favorite reads. I recall what you sent to VDH about a year ago. Superb. That, and what you wrote about your dad yesterday is one of the reasons I read your posts multiple times.
Thank you, JMH.
Ann, does that come in red?
Posted by: Dave (in MA) | September 12, 2012 at 12:59 PM
I'm willing to give the Dems the benefit of the doubt here and charitably assume they're so f***ing militarily illiterate they couldn't tell the difference, but I readily admit they're also so dishonorable they might have intentionally been pushing that Reset button again.
America does not contribute to World peace by being less secure,
Americans are not safer when the US Military is weaker,
When US Embassies are overrun, when US Ambassadors are assassinated, the world becomes less secure, and Americans less safe.
This is not the "Smart Diplomacy" we were promised.
This is pissing away the moral certainty and physical strength earned through too much Blood, lots of Sweat, and continuing Tears.
Jim Croce used to sing about not pulling on Superman's cape
Well, that was then, today under voldemort, it is expected--and we'll apologize too.
Did I mention I HATE the cabal with every fiber of my being?
YGBSM.
|The media will ignore this and all truths exposing the "left"flank of radical, cluster-K
policies of the frauds running Obama's mind.
OT, but, hooray for Mitt--he looked CIC-ish biting back at all who threaten US, including Obama and, the biggest of all--the mouthpiece socialist media--We can shun them..cancel cable ,satelitte--anything that promotes through propaganda--all big papers(who subcribes anymore)? We must stick to IT to get and give info on real world--we can do without ABC.NBC.CBS.PBS.CNN.MSNBC.fox.NYT.WaPo.LAT.CST,USAtoday--all for a few months..we'll still have youtube, which was the source for their excuse of their planned attacks on US on the Sept.11 ann'y. Now,we must act, not after.
DNC now apologizing: The organizers of the Democratic National Convention apologized on Wednesday for accidentally using an image of Soviet-era Russian warships in its backdrop during a tribute to veterans at last week's convention in Charlotte, N.C.
If I recall correctly, all things that happen at a Political Convention are the direct fault and responsibility of the head Candidate...Unless the Candidate is a Democrat.
