Kim Jong Obama shot a score of 17 playing golf at the Congressional Country Club today and was certified by foursome partners Jay Z, George Clooney, and Jay Carney.
"It was a miracle, said Jay Z of the president's shot on the 14th hole. We were used to his usually getting a hole in one, as he is the world's greatest golfer. But when the ball bounced out of the cup and all the way into the 15th cup, we knew we were witnessing something special."
After the round establishing the president as the world's greatest golver ever, foursome then retired to the clubhouse, where Big Preezy, as he is known on the course, bought the house a round of Armand de Brignac by the bottle and gave each of his partners $50,000 Patek Philippe watches to commemorate the experience."
When asked where the money to pay for the watches would come from, the president said "It's stimulus, man!" as he fist bumped all and sundry.

MelR-- thanks for the Strata link. And it's a nice theory, and undoubtable correct to a point. But in truth, at JOM we get more probing questions about polls from DoT, and more empirical analysis of polls from RickB than in that Strata post. To me the best poll analysis is by Jay Cost, and JOM contributors, just one man's opinion.

Because to my mind it's not a representation which I take to be a copy of the flag itself.
Even representations of the flag--that is red white and blue with stars and stripes in the right numbers are regularly used wrongfully without any punishment.

The media only cover “Romney screwups” but the “leaks” have moved the campaigns sideways and I’m sure that Team Obama isn’t too happy with where they wandered.
It’s back on the economy and taxes.
Senator Patty Murray of Washington, a member of the Democratic leadership, said on Monday that her party is prepared to allow all of the Bush-era tax cuts to expire and for automatic spending cuts to kick in unless Republicans give up their opposition to tax increases on the wealthy.
Many Democrats are running from this line, but Pelosi has been saying for months that she and the Democratic leadership want all of the Bush tax cuts repealed.

Re the polls: I think ideologically the country is pretty evenly divided among those that bother to vote, and has been for quite some time. (Even during the Clinton years, if you assume that most of the Perot voters fell on the conservative side of the ideological line.) And I think that within the equal divides are four classes of voters: the hard right, the hard left, the center right, and the center left. In the case of the hard right and the hard left, they might not vote at all if they're unhappy with the party's current standard bearer, but they rarely cross over and vote for the other side. Whereas the center right and the center left (who often call themselves "independent" but really aren't all that independent in that they tend to consistently lean one way or the other), can be induced to cross over the other side. Which is what happened in 2008, in that a lot of people who normally fall into the center right ideologically were suffering from Bush fatigue, got seduced by the hope and change, and wanted to feel good about themselves by proving they weren't a racist and could be a part of history by voting for the first black president.
Now, today the polls that are weighing a +5 Dem and above are assuming that the voting pattern that occurred in 2008 was a permanent ideological shift--that the center right voters in 2008 who crossed over have stayed there and will accordingly vote again for the Won like they did last time. And if the Dems' gains had held steady in 2010, you could argue they would probably be right in their assumption. Instead what happened was the center right moved back across the ideological line to their fallback home, some of the ideological center left crossed over to the right, if only temporarily, and enough of the hard left stayed home--giving us the 2020 Republican rout.
So my read on the current state of affairs is this: the country is still evenly divided ideologically, but the center right that came home in 2010 isn't going to defect back to Obama again. The hard right is fired up to eleventy!! to vote ABO. The hard left has moments, like after Clinton's speech and lately Romney's "gaffe", where they get fired up but then the feeling wanes. And the center left is waffling--they are reluctant to vote for Obama again, but Romney hasn't won them over emotionally, and probably never will. But if their reason can be appealed to, or if the thought of four more years like the last four is sufficiently horrifying to them, then they will cross over and Romney will win.
Also there are some outlying things that might affect the outcome--a shoddy ground game from R/R, combined with an extraordinarily good one from the Dems, along with their usual fraud, and people who rarely if ever vote but do so this one time (which happened, I think, in 2008 to the Won's favor, but is unlikely to repeat itself--in his favor, at least.)

Ras would be more likely to reflect the (what I hope and definitely think) would be an expected couple of point drop for Romney from the "47%" tape release, while Gallup's 7 day rolling is likely to reflect more of the reaction against Obama for the 9/11/2012 jihadist attacks.

Derwill,
That's a very good analysis. There are two additional factors which will weigh heavily in November. Obama now has a record, he's not "NEW IMPROVED FREE!!!" any more. The second factor is candidate quality and Governor Romney, while no star, is a great improvement over McVain, whose intelligence is inversely proportional to his ego and therefore very difficult to find, let alone measure.
Governor Romney appears to be pursuing a "whites of their eyes" strategy, leaving us with bayonets fixed and watches which seem to have stopped. I don't find waiting for the whistle to be particularly comforting.

I think this poll anxiety is going to continue until a few days following the last debate. At that point, I think it will be pretty clear whether Romney has closed the sale with the most crucial percent in this election period (not the 1% or the 99% or the 47%, but the 6%). At this point, one of three things will happen: (i) Romney will have closed the sale, and Obama will never catch up; (ii) Romney will not have closed the sale, and Obama will take a lead he won't relinquish; or (iii) the race will be in a consistent 48-48 or 49-49 mode, which will remove polling anxiety but will stimulate voter fraud and Electoral College shenanigans anxiety.

And Rob fascistic describes perfectly all this systems redesign of society and its components with a "the part id define by the quality of its relationship to the Whole" meme.
We are the parts. No wonder this crowd feels so free to socially reengineer things that arose out of human action but not human intention. Things that at their core are actually amalgamations of autonomous individuals pursuing their interests and freedom. Not anymore. We get who we are from our envmt and interactions with others in bo world. Any differences are just a result of unequal opportunities and not to be further fostered.
I am a bit annoyed as I plow through yet more machinations but at least there will not be ANY ambiguity anymore. And as I said on the other thread, bo and ayers are thoroughly embedded in this atrocious template.

"... a non-binding resolution, that would violate limitations set within the Constitution if it were binding, made John McCain a natural born citizen."
It did absolutely no such thing, and did not purport to; a prior federal statute did. That statute made him a natural born citizen, as a federal judge explained. Each and every judicial challenge to his eligibility was defeated. Mad Leo Donofrio a.k.a. The Paraclete a.k.a Mr. Burnweed a.k.a. Dark Knight Oracle had a different view, but then he lost every single time as well. It is amazing that there are still yokels abroad in the land who hang on that nut's every word.

I ascribe no predictive value to mid-September polls. What troubles me about the various daily snapshots of the electorate are things like this: 53% say they want Obamacare repeled, but a significant number of them are not willing to say they will vote for Romney. A substantial majority say the country is headed in the wrong direction, but many, many of them do not say they will vote for Romney. And so on....
