Melinda Romanoff

Lookie what I found!

sbw

Given a choice, I'd rather watch the Yankees on top of the Sox at 5 to 1 in the top of the 5th, than watch the debate.

dublindave

Obama will appear aloof and uncomfortable-Romney will do fine and get a three point bounce.

Dave (in MA)

Go Sox! Go O's!

Ann

Thank you, Tom Mcguire!

For what it is worth, I think we should all be thankful that Mitt Romney and his family love this country and are brave enough to take on this job.

Why would anyone want to go through this?

dublindave

Swiss Mitt cannot sink any lower in the mud of his own incompetence.... he'd have to turn up in his dressing gown, unshaven and drunk to screw this one up (believe me I know).

It's Mitt's night, but only by default.

DrJ

Is anyone live blogging tonight? I'd rather read the comments than watch the "debate."

GMax

A backer of Zero wants to throw the incompetence label around. Well at least he single handedly killed Osama with his bare hands.

Not_Bubarooni

Hasn't the result already been determinded?

I can see it now:

'Mr Romney, what event in your early life lead you to detest the American middle class?'

Or something to that effect.

dublindave

I'm just tuning in the six "Zingers" the Romney campaign said they'd been working on and the Governor would preview tonight.

dublindave

'Mr Romney, what event in your early life lead you to detest the American middle class?'

The Middle class?????

Not_Bubarooni

He's only for the 1% DublinDave. Don't you watch MSNBC? Do try and keep up.

fdcol63

"Mr. President, what event in your life led you to hate America?

Jane

I'm babysitting until about 9:30 so I'm going to be interrupted mid debate. Maybe Janet or Daddy will do it.

Not_Bubarooni

Oh yeah, isn't he like leading a War on Women or something too?

Jane

Dudu, I'm pretty sure Romney has spent a heck of a lot more time with the middle class than Obama.

Eric in Boise

DrJ, you can pick up liveblogs over at Powerline, or try Stephen Green's drunkblogging over at PJM.

I'm sure the morons over at Ace's will have something going as well; they're always good for a laugh or three.

I'll probably just lurk here and read the comments. You could definitely do worse.

bunkerbuster

Mr. Romney, are you prepared to start a war in Iran? If so, how do you intend to pay for it?

Danube of Thought

I'm not gonna watch (not good for me). My love will, and will give me her thoughts. And of course I'll watch the FNC post mortem.

daddy

Some talking head on CNN just said that Obama was like Moses and that people are looking for Moses. Geez it is deep over there.

DrJ

Thanks, EiB. We turned on C-Span, so I suppose we'll suffer through it. I hate the debate format, where all that you get are sound bites.

Jane, I'll look for your comments!

Danube of Thought

Godspeed, Mitt. Our country is lucky to have you, and we need you.

Jane

Here we go!

PD

Wow. I haven't seen Lehrer for a while. He looks like he belongs in a casket.

daddy

O will answer first.

I already hate Jim Lehrer and it's only his first sentence.

Porchlight

No kidding, Ann - we are fortunate. They're a brave family.

Not_Bubarooni

'Mr. Obama, congratulations on your 20th anniversary today. Where did you and Michelle have dinner? What did she wear?'

It'll be hard probing stuff tonight I guarantee you.

hit and run

Good evening. Let's do this thing.

DrJ

It'll be hard probing stuff

anti-woman hater! :)

PD

Obama leads with Blame Bush.

Pofarmer

It occurs to me, that when it's just assumed hat health care is a topic the federal govt should be involved in when have essentially lost.

Threadkiller

Ok, I'm here.

Obama: uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Bela1

Oh, how sweet. It's Obama's wedding anniversary and he has do attend this debate. Oh, the poor man. With the number of troops and their families making the ultimate sacrifice, he pulls this crap. Grrr...

PD

Followed by lies about Romney's position.

peter

we all have a lot to work to do, except for those of us who don't have work to do.

hit and run

O: Auto industry has come roaring back.

Vrrooommm.

::screeech::

Ditch

Jane

This is supposed to be about how you create jobs. Obama refuses to answer.

Why am I not surprised.

Bela1

to attend...sorry!

Laff trac

"'Mr Romney, what event in your early life lead you to detest the American middle class?'"

Deadbeatdave = comedy gold!!!

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet

Those wascally wepublicans.

Jane

Obama has no ideas on how we create jobs. I'm shocked!

PD

"Economic patriotism"?

Oh, that's good. Disagree with Obama and you're implicitly unpatriotic.

sbw

Blame Bush - Drink!

peter

Good one, Mitt!

Pofarmer

At least I'm not the only one who thought that obama had a complete non answer.

PD

Romney calls out Obama for saying he's just going to cut taxes for the rich.

Jane

Romney is answering the question - good for him!

peter

I like this new President we have.

PD

Mitt: Small business creates jobs.

peter

Trickle down government.

hit and run

R: O believes in "trickle down government"

daddy

What are the main diffs between the 2 of you as to how to create jobs.

Obama: 20 years ago I married Michelle. Weak joke follows.
4 years ago it was Bush's fault. We have begun to fight our way back. Auto industry is roaring back and housing is improving. Romney sez we should cut taxes but that is the wrong plan. My plan is to go to alternative energy and blah blah, blah. Are we going to do what got us into this mess in the first place or do what I want.

Romney: Congratulations on your wedding anniversary. I can help but it will take a different plan than what we have been doing the last 4 years. Lays out a 5 part plan in quick sentences. Sez we must champion small business and that new business startups are at a 30 year low. Presidents idea is do "trickle down Government". Thank you.

peter

Gains in some of the toughest schools, like in Chicago.

Jane

Obama is into "trickle down government".

Comment on that MR, President.

No thanks, I'm going to talk about education. and more government jobs which is of course trickle down government but I won;t admit it.

Pofarmer

Trickle down govt. Love it
He doesn't have an answer that doesn't involve ,ore govt.

Dave (in MA)

I don't have an answer memorized for that question, so I'll just jabber about some class warfare crap.

PD

Obama: "Let me talk specifically about what we need to do." Followed, of course, by meaningless generalities.

Followed by the Big Lie about companies being given tax breaks to ship jobs overseas.

peter

Plenty of wind around Obama.

Jane

Precisley Dave.

Soylent Red

Barack has a program called "Racist to the Top". Yes we can!

peter

Jeez, Lehrer looks like he's a hundred friggin years old.

Jack is Back

rse,

Secretary of Education, sponsored by Barack Hussein Obama.

PD

Romney refuting Obama's lies about Romney's position on taxes.

peter

Gasoline prices have gone up.

Dave (in MA)

Geez, Mitt. If you're going to use a Biden gaffe, mention that it was from him.

Threadkiller

FYI, "crush" is my drinking word.

James D.

Much more importantly - 7-1 Yankees in the bottom of the 6th. Bring on Baltimore/Texas on Saturday!

Publius of Idaho

"Middle income families are being crushed!"

If you don't believe me, just ask Joe Biden.

peter

I am liking the way Mitt sounds so upbeat and articulate. Keep hammering away, there, Mitty.

PD

Yeah! Romney agreeing with Obama that domestic energy production is up. Then points out that it's in spite of, not because of Obama's policies.

peter

Round 1 to the challenger.

peter

stammering starting on the JEF.

PD

"Let's tax about taxes because I think it's instructive."

I don't need a lecture on economics from you, you economic dolt.

Threadkiller

My liver is getting crushed...

PD

Obama repeats lies about Romney's tax position, after Romney specifically refuted it earlier.

Clarice

My moderate husaband agrees with you flaming rascals--Romney "crushed him in the first 15 minutes," he says.

Pofarmer

5 trillion dollars in tax cuts. What consumate ass.

PD

Obama yammering about loopholes.

That is, lawfully enacted provisions of the tax code. Enacted by the government.

PD

"Virtually everything he just said about my tax plan is inaccurate."

Keep that up!

Threadkiller

Obama's eyeballs are moving puke one of those cat clocks.

Bela1

Romney is good.

squaredance

What you do not understand is the the Democrats have redefined "Middle Class" on us.

They mean senior union workers who get paid $50k to $75k to screw, often in 40 bolts an hour (actually they may often watch...er...ah...supervise someone else screw in those bolts).

The older, accepted and more plausible definition of "Middle Class", that being those who own their own small or medium size businesses, have now amazingly turninto "The Rich".

These are the people that Obama wants to tax, and all the statistical legerdemain about "the 1%" is really just a dodge to hide this assault on the taxpayer. The "real rich"? Well, a great many of them are Democrats, and most of them buy T-bill anyway. This whole talk of "The Rich" is nothing but misdirection.

It is a curious thing that we are calling people who make $250k a year "The Rich", but the way things are going perhaps soon that will be all "The Rich" are worth.

This redefinition of middle is one of the more bizarre perversions of language we have let the Democrats get away with the last 15 years or so, and all the more bizarre for the fact that it is completely unacknowledged. It is the source of much confusion to those outside of Democrat circles.

This is why Obama with conviction can stand up and say that he his "defending the middle class"--he mean he is defending the unions. Democrats get this; the rest of us scratch our heads.

The real middle class? Why those people are either Kulaks or the "Petite Bourgeoisie", and as such deserve to be crushed into pulp.

PD

Romney just called Obama, in effect, a child.

peter

Obama is getting a can of whoopass handed to him.

PD

This is why Obama with conviction can stand up and say that he his "defending the middle class"--he mean he is defending the unions. Democrats get this; the rest of us scratch our heads.

Tell us something we don't know.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet

God bless you who are watching. I opted for the Yankees game and am very happy for the moment. 7-1, bases loaded with Yanks with one out in the sixth and the O's are losing.

I am praying the debate will go as well for R, and from the sound of things, it has so far.

pagar

"Obama has no ideas on how we create jobs."

Meanwhile there are still Americans who claim they will vote for him.
This is insane. Why are we putting up with this garbage.

hit and run

TK:
My liver is getting crushed...

My bladder's about to explode.

peter

Obama worried about the deficit. What a joke.

Pofarmer

So, leher stammers around and doesn't want to let mitt refute, and practically begs obama to refute. Nice.

Bela1

Barry is a bold-faced liar.

Jack is Back

I never knew Obama was such a small man.

PD

Obama's reply to Romney's refutation of Obama's mischaracterization: "Is too, nyah."

Threadkiller

Puke=like on my Droid

OldTimer

Romney is dynamite tonight! Barry's working hard to keep his lies and accusations in line and not look too angry at Mitt's superior intellect, knowledge and honesty....

MarkO

Obama has no clue. He's just not that smart. He makes a claim and can't back it up. Romney is making great points. I'm somewhat relaxed. OK. I'm not.

Pofarmer

I'm a small business and I don't remember 18 tax cuts under Obama. Anyvody else?

PD

Obama: I've cut taxes for small businesses 18 times.

Soylent Red

Please more stammering and blue lips.

It would match his tie!

workers who get paid $50k to $75k to screw,

Boy do I need to get a union job.
