TomM is Here!! do you have power?

Captain Hate

I wasn't first in line to vote but maybe so in this thread.

MarkO

DOOM?

MarkO

TM has ALL POWER. He can effect revenge against our enemies.

centralcal

Trying to focus only on humor today.

David Burge ‏@iowahawkblog

Tried to show my ID to poll worker this morning. It was like showing a crucifix to a vampire. #aarghhgetthatthingawayfromme

hit and run

Believe me, I am sooooo getting my freak on tonight.

If I promised I was done posting stuff about NC early voting, then I lied.

So, obviously the early voting has ended. Except that absentee ballots that are mailed in and received through today will also be counted.

Yesterday's absentee ballot totals are in . . . and while it's a small number and won't move the overall needle one bit . . . in yesterday's vote Republicans outnumbered Democrats.

matt

Well, Bruce Springsteen was freaked out, so perhaps today's theme song should be. LUN.

Old Lurker

Same thing happened to us CC.

In MD I voted against more preferences and entitlements than I have ever seen on one ballot.

DebinNC

The NC BOE site showed my absentee ballot was "accepted" instead of just "received". I hope that means it will be counted.

Annoying Old Guy

Heading out to vote. As a member of the Garden Gnome Society I was going to vote ABO, but I've changed my mind. I will be voting 0.6 ABO and 0.4 Romney. Hopefully Rick Ballard won't tear up my membership card for this.

Flannery

Long time lurker(since Plame). I just wanted to thank all the poster here for much information and entertainment. I use the stuff I learn from here to combat idiocy wherever I come up against it.

My take on the election is that Romney wins big and the Senate ends up even.

DebinNC

Welcome, Flannery. Don't be a stranger.

EvenKeel(formerlyNK)

Welcome Flannery!

Good Luck James D with the eye drops!

rse

Welcome Flannery. You forgot to tell us where you are posting from.

centralcal

ah, schadenfreude!

Christian Whiton ‏@ChristianWhiton

Dan Rather says on MSNBC: "something in my gut tells me that it’s going to be a good day for Romney"

Captain Hate

Even though I appreciate hearing positive news, am I the only person who thinks that info shouldn't be released until after the polls are closed? I doesn't matter to me or impact how I'm voting but it just strikes me as more disruptive noise for a nation overloaded with nervous nellies.

Captain Hate

info == early voting info

centralcal

Hi, flannery! Good grief there is a hidden army of lurkers out there in the void! (And, hopefully they are all marching to the polls today - or have already).

Captain Hate

Good to read you, Flannery; the more, the more...

hit and run

Deb:
The NC BOE site showed my absentee ballot was "accepted" instead of just "received". I hope that means it will be counted.

Yes. The other options are Spoiled, Cancelled, Rejected and Not Voted.

If you want, you can give me your last name and I'll double check ;)

rse

CH-isn't a fair amount of what's being released already available on public websites?

They are simply making it broadly available instead of just for those "in the know."

DebinNC

CH, the OH early voting info was bogus. HotAir has a thread about it. No results will be released until polls close.

Flannery

Southern California. Although my vote seems to not matter, I will never surrender that privilege.

EvenKeel(formerlyNK)

CC-- thanks for the tweet- but do we take seriously anything said by man who claims he was attacked on Park Avenue by a man saying "kenneth what's the frequency"

Comanche Voter

Ah well--off to do my bit at the California polls in a few minutes. Of course casting a vote for a Republican for President is like trying to p@ss into the wind. But I'll add one vote to the national popular count for The Romster and The Kid.

EvenKeel(formerlyNK)

Comanche/Flannery-- well done-- don't give up california to the bastards yet.

NJ Jan

Welcome Flannery. As a newbie here , I find the water warm and inviting. I like your predictions

Just got back from voting and errands I was the only voter at my polling place. I asked election person how turnout has been and she said very strong. I was 201 for my district. Guess I missed the crowd. Fanwood has about 9000 residents. Only 1 square mile. I would say running about average compared to past elections. A lot of folks vote before work and a lot after work. Big NYC commuter population.

hit and run

Flannery has always been my favorite!

Captain -- early voting stats have been available for the duration. See the US Elections Project site which aggregates data for each state where available.

No one is "releasing" anything today -- people are now sifting through it, just like I have done with NC for the past 2 1/2 weeks.

Captain Hate

Absolutely Flannery; better men than I died to give me that privilege and it would be disrespectful and unforgivably lazy for me not to exercise it.

centralcal

Oh, hey, eveNKeel - I have it on good Twitter authority that Dan's gut feeling is based on confidential info he received from Lucy Ramirez!

Fake, but accurate.

Captain Hate

Ok, hit and deb; thanks.

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet

Having voted early this year, I just got back from accompanying my wife to the polls after the early morning rush was over. It took her about an hour part of which consisted of standing in line in a drizzle. She reported the group was affable and of good cheer. I suspect very few ElJefe supporters were in attendance.

EvenKeel(formerlyNK)

CC- I suspected as much. carry on.

hit and run

Deb:
CH, the OH early voting info was bogus.

Yes, indeed. And to make myself more clear, I was referring only to voting stats by party. No one has any info on who the votes were cast for -- just which parties the persons casting the votes are registered as.

And then people take those and start to look at "this Republican county is up by x% and this Democratic county is down by y%" etc.

Or in my case, in Wake County -- the county that has more votes than any other in NC -- 6,258 fewer Dems early voted than in 2008 and 4,358 more Republicans.

DebinNC

Dan Ratherisms from election night 2004. Pre-Rathergate, I used to get a kick out of Dan's "isms" but not enough to ever subject myself to MESSBC.

Tonto

Re: CWRU -- Did any of you know Chaim (I guess he went by Herman in the academic world) Stein, the Provost for many years? He was my husband's uncle.

Stephanie

reposting:

via Breitbart:

REPORT: A woman in a Detroit polling location was aggressively campaigning for Obama. A female voter in line objected. The Obama supporter punched the woman in the face.

Police came to arrest her and she smacked the cop.

Developing...

EvenKeel(formerlyNK)

Steph@11:55-- strictly a dog bites man story...

DebinNC

Unfortunately for her, Robin Rather looks just like her daddy.

EvenKeel(formerlyNK)

Robin Rather Photo ... no .... it's too easy... and it wouldn't be right. carry on.

henry

Tonto, I probably met the Provost at one soiree (free food!) or another, but generally avoided the higher ups.

Enlightened

Oh boy is this gonna be great! I cannot wait to get in that booth. I won't be voting for revenge, but I for damn sure will be filling those circles with a vengeance!

I'll have nightmares of dancing vaginas, Biden'n Biker Chick photo ops and FLOTUS wearing another Golden Sasquatch ensemble to the inaugural ball, and the smell of DuDu all day, every day.

Please please please people - save me.

harrjf

DebinNC, wow. She didn't miss many branches falling from the ugly tree.

PD

In other news (or not really "news"), Greeks strike against austerity.

Beester

Hit, one post and you're already dumping me?

Soylent Red

Yay! I just voted for Barack Obama!

He's the white guy with the good hair right?

PD

Before you click the Robin Rather link, best say to yourself, "courage."

hit and run

I'd like to apologize for dumping you so soon Beester, but I won't. That's just how I roll.
;)

Old Lurker

So which dress won last night?

matt

Voted at 7:00am this morning and there was a moderate line.

Got into work and asked one of my associates if they had voted and they came back with "It's California. It's worse than Vietnam." They will still vote, but the state has lost all reason.

Manuel Transmission

"Flat roofs?" Hey! I represent that! And on the wet side of the Cascades to boot. Not that we had any choice. The property rights thieves forced us to rebuild in the same spot with the same height restrictions (even thought there is no one behind us to be blocked) so a pitched roof would have cost us a third floor. The result was to over engineer the shit out of it. Made it into an international coastal homes book, so I guess somebody liked the result.

hit and run

OL:
So which dress won last night?

#2

EvenKeel(formerlyNK)

Matt-- good man. Like the other JOMers in Ca. don't give up to those commie Dem bastards.

Soylent Red

No lines in my precinct in Albermarle County, VA, but 118K ballots cast here today. Little old lady at the desk said it was "a very good turnout".

Romney signs sprung up in the neighborhood like mushrooms overnight. Long motorcycle ride through the county last week showed a 10-1 RR sign advantage, some of them homemade with anti Obama messages.

I have a hard time believing that this level of enthusiasm is for 8% unemployment and $16 trillion in debt.

derwill

Just got back from voting to SHITCAN the JEF. Wow! Really long line in my small Idaho town--a state where if the JEF gets 30% he'll be lucky.

Old Lurker

So Hit no matter what I am on one winning team this week.

Jack is Back

tonto,

You in EH or Arizona? If in EH, how did you and Harry make out v. Sandy?

OldTimer

Our household absentee voted last month for R&R as will a plurality here in Utah today, I'm guessin' :)

I think it's time polling places like this....

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/obama-mural-philadelphia-polling-place_661833.html

are exposed to a national SHITCANNING!

EvenKeel(formerlyNK)

Derwill-- the state population of government employees, university faculty and idiots total about 30%-- is that right?

Frau Wahlsiegerin

#2 dress won which means Stephanie will probably go for #1.
(caro pointed out, correctly, that #1 was stunning.)

btw there is no German word I can think of for SHITCANNED. DrJ? matt? Mrs TK? Chaco? & others?

Thomas Collins

It's great that those in definite Obama or definite Romney states are voting. Every popular vote for Romney will help if this goes into overtime. In fact, a nice Romney popular vote may prevent this from going into overtime.

Jim Ryan

Romney signs sprung up

Some of this is due to the fact that we had a hard time getting them in at the GOP HQ. There were several weeks in Sept/Oct when people were turned away because the resupply of signs hadn't arrived yet. There would have been signs up earlier.

Mike Huggins

Similar feelings from another California voter. Even though it's Orange Co. and you want to make sure at least the local conservatives get in, you do get the "pissin' in the wind" vibe for the national stuff. Yeesh, oh, and my newly registered daughters are canceling out my wife's and my vote. At least, hopefully, our Soviet-style state government won't get Jerry Moonbeam's latest tax and grab ballot measure. Forward, comrades!

Stephanie

It's number two for the wedding and number one for New Year's due to the time constraints.

Thanks for the input from everyone. Out the door to go vote.

K is soooo excited to SHITCAN the JEF for her first vote. My first vote was for Reagan, may hers work out as well. :)

Captain Hate

Tonto, Mrs H is aware of your husband's uncle and says he was very highly regarded at the school for applied social sciences. The only provost I ever met was Jim Wagner who's now the president of Emery University.

centralcal

I am not sure of the authenticity of this, but awful if true:

John Hayward ‏@Doc_0

Oh, no. RT @justinbiberuk: R.I.P. Paul Davis. The Navy Seal who killed Osama Bin Laden died in battle today.

Mike Huggins

"vote" = votes

derwill

I just went and looked it up, Even. In 2008 Obama got 36% to McCain's 62%. There are some school propositions on the ballot this year that will turn out the teachers, but there are a lot of broken glass voters, too, and lots of Mormons, so I expect RR to better McCain's numbers.

Enlightened

SHITCANNED = Scheissecanned (German)

Jim Ryan

Obama is brilliant. Okay, he thought that trashing the economy, he could still get voters out to vote for him a second time. But other than that, mensa genius.

Frau Wahlsiegerin

Hey, FLOTUS! nobody pushed me out of line!

Hello, Flannery! I'm in the last city to the east in L.A. county. I was at the polls when the doors opened up and I went in "behind enemy lines" (to quote the preezy) with all the squishy libs in my college town. I kept whispering to my husband that the others did not know what was going to happen to their fellow. Yesterday, I taught my husband the GUS-word just to keep him up to date.

I slept like a baby last night. Who knows about tonight. One thing sure, it this thing is dragged out, I'm ready to rise up and fight.

P.S. Janet, I wore my little Tea Party pin.

Tonto

JiB -- In EH. Got off pretty lightly. No internet, TV or land line for days, but avoided real calamity. Lots of beautiful old trees didn't make it, though. Just voted against Bishop. Newsday endorsed Altshuler. Fingers crossed.

Jack is Back

Frau,

I think "Scheiße eingemacht" comes pretty close, right?

DrJ

btw there is no German word I can think of for SHITCANNED.

I can't think of one either (at least not a vulgar one), and the web was of no help. I did learn that shitcan is in the OED.

I have one more of the 18 NIH proposals I have to review. Then off to vote -- the CA ballot initiatives are important, to make sure the preponderance of them do not pass.

Jim Ryan

If you're in a safe state (Romney or Zero) VOTE. It's teh popular vote tally mandate. The bigger the popular vote for Romney, the bigger the [REDACTED] Zero gets tonight.

Danube of Thought on IPad

La Preciosa and I are about to sortie with sample CA ballots in hand. We have voted together in every election since we got married.

Sandy Daze
Oh, no. RT @justinbiberuk: R.I.P. Paul Davis. The Navy Seal who killed Osama Bin Laden died in battle today.

I would not believe it. This same rumor was spread oh, three or four months ago. I suspect it is the same rumor given a second life.

centralcal

Above tweet about Navy seal being killed is bogus! Thank God.

Some Guy

The Navy Seal who killed Osama Bin Laden died in battle today.

Zero died today?

Tonto

CH -- He was a lovely guy. Started out in the Catskills with theatrical ambitions. Danny Kaye was a fellow waiter/performer. When Chaim got involved with UNICEF he brought Kaye in as UNICEF spokesman. A lefty, of course, but with conservative impulses -- unlike his brother (my father in law), a commie who saw the Democrat party come to him.

marlene

We just voted at our town office.Paper ballots, fill in the oval with a black pen.The ballot with the school board/local town candidates was a piece of orange paper, deposited into a wooden ballot box.

Welcome to all who have de-lurked!

Jack is Back

tonto,

Good news. All we lost was a portion of the pool fence and never lost power. I hope Tim loses big but all those NYC people have changed their address to the Hamptons and that is bothersome.

narciso

Yeah, I dno't buy that, neither Owens nor Bowden revealed who that was,

Captain Hate

Tonto, he was provost back in the 80s, no?

Calvin

Long time lurker coming to the surface. I've loved reading the insights of the group, but sadly I feel Dems will steal this election like they steal everything else.

Porchlight

So glad that rumor about the SEAL is not true.

Pofarmer

Good turnout in my little district in MO. 2 hrs in over 10% had voted.

centralcal

narciso, it was a hoax.

Old Lurker

The ladies have room on the ledge for you Calvin.

Welcome.

EvenKeel(formerlyNK)

Po-- will Akin win or lose?

Flannery

Frau, is that Upland? My district lost 10 term congressman
and rules chair David Dreier and now its no sure thing for the GOP

Porchlight

Re: OH early voting - I hate this kind of confusion.

My understanding is that we DO have early voting information by county from OH, but only totals - not by party. I have seen the spreadsheets for Cuyahoga County, for example, coming straight from the county website.

So comparisons to 2008 in Obama counties vs. McCain counties are possible and valid.

But nothing about how many votes a given candidate received is available.

Is that correct?

EvenKeel(formerlyNK)

Welcome Calvin!

Did you have to start with the negative vibe? In truth, Dem fraud is a definite issue in Pa, and still to a degree in Ohio.

DebinNC

Welcome, Calvin. Where are you from?

Jack is Back

Pick U'r Own:)

Dutch: Ingeblikte Shit
French: Merde en boîte
Greek (Modern): Shit που κονσερβοποιείται (NK can you verify)
Italian: Merda inscatolata
Portugese: Merda enlatada

Clarice

Just call me Mrs Soil and Water Conservation District Manager. Thanks, Hit. I owe you big time.

Another Bob

Voted in MN this morning.

In 2008, my precinct had about 1400 total voters, and went McCain by single digits.

At about 1030 this morning, I was voter number 406. Was trying to recall the count in 2008 when I voted after work and couldn't, but my wife seems to recall that this is substantially higher turnout.

Good news?

EvenKeel(formerlyNK)

Porch@12:37--that's my understanding.

bgates

Half an hour to vote, including the 12 block round trip walk and reading the English versions of the amendments on the six page ballot.

Exit polling by the fledgling Gateup organization indicated the Republican party will take 100% of the partisan offices, but betrayed a troubling ignorance of the candidates for Soil and Water Conservation District Manager, or even what that job is for.
