Comments

peter

Andrew Cuomo, a man who made it entirely on his own.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--Geez, and I just saw 'Promised Land'--

Is there no end to the lengths to which Tom will go to spare us the trouble?

Krugman, Damon, Klein, Yglesias...either TM is a saint or a masochist.

narciso

Well he helped bring about the housing collapse, while at HUD, yet McCain thought he was a proper replacement at the SEC, what could go wrong?

Clarice

Fracking will only bring NY needed energy, revenue and jobs. Not fracking will bring Cuomo re-election money. Do the math.

Bela1

A man who made it entirely on his own? I'll believe that once pigs fly, Peter.

These men are dangerous, but up against a few R.A.D. grads, I'd bet they'd be whimpering like babies.

Melinda Romanoff on Kindle

Peter better get that bleeding tongue looked at. If you stick it that far in your cheek, you're bound to tear something.

Gus

Cuomo, the Italian Kennedy? Pro-abortion Catholic. Hey Andy, PREGNANCY isn't caused by FRACKING. Google it motherfracker.

narciso

Well in order to ensure that NY will be bailed out by the Feds, and they are 'TBTF, one has to block fracking.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Utterly OT, but if you look at the ad for our Yosemite property there is a google earth map that if you zoom in on all the way you can see us logging in 2011.
The area to the SW of the central meadow shows trees down and limbed [skinny light colored polls among the trees surrounded by green halos of limbs that have been cut off] and a large deck of logs on the very SW corner of the property just north of "NF 3N01" .
In between are dark streaks where the logs were skidded.
North of that is the log loader visible as a large white square on the road.

On the North end of the meadow is my white pickup, parked where I was out in the woods marking trees.
Might only be of interest to me but kind of cool, I thought.

Jane - Mock the Media!

I'm pretty sure Peter was kidding.

Clarice

Iggy, google keeps doing my house and I'm always afraid they'll catch me skinny dipping. You're lucky.

Clarice

Ig, the ranch looks gorgeous .Maybe St Janes should be a ranch.

Jack is Back

Clarice,

What pay California taxes? Also I don't think the winters are too appealing.

sbw

Clarice, if you've got it, flaunt it.

Danube of Thought iPad

"I was out in the woods marking trees"

My dog Fredo does that for me.

Barbara
What pay California taxes? Also I don't think the winters are too appealing.

Brrrrrr. I agree, JIB.

Ig, the ranch looks gorgeous .Maybe St Janes should be a ranch.

As long as it's a ranch where the weather's warm.

Excellent "Pieces" today, Clarice. A must read.

Danube of Thought iPad

The place is beautiful, Ig.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--Also I don't think the winters are too appealing.--

Yeah, couple of feet of snow there now and the nearest plow is about ten miles away.
Great fun taking a snow machine in though.

--My dog Fredo does that for me.--

If he can leave a blue stripe about chest high I might want to hire him.
Of course if he could do that Ringling Bros probably would have hired him already.

hit and run

I would gladly live on the Ig Ranch, even in the winters, without complaint.

henry

Hit, ask him for the JOM discount. ; )

Neo
This is dangerous for science and for the nation. The claim that Republicans are anti-science is a staple of Democratic political rhetoric, but bipartisan support among politicians for national investment in science, especially basic research, is still strong. For more than 40 years, US government science spending has commanded a remarkably stable 10% of the annual expenditure for non-defence discretionary programmes. In good economic times, science budgets have gone up; in bad times, they have gone down. There have been more good times than bad, and science has prospered.

In the current period of dire fiscal stress, one way to undermine this stable funding and bipartisan support would be to convince Republicans, who control the House of Representatives, that science is a Democratic special interest. . . The US scientific community must decide if it wants to be a Democratic interest group or if it wants to reassert its value as an independent national asset.

Neo

I'll be in DC Wednesday evening for the Nixon Library celebration of Nixon's centennial.

hit and run

henry:
Hit, ask him for the JOM discount. ; )

Or how about the JOM partition? I can't afford 160 acres, nor 80.

But maybe he could carve out a 5 acre spot for me?

peter

Yeah, I was kidding about Cuomo. I know someone who went to Albany law with him. Said Andrew was pretty much a maroon, as Bugs Bunny used the term.

Gus

40 acres and a mule Hit, free, from the gubmint!!

narciso

You see how they shift the goalposts;

http://news.yahoo.com/epa-fracking-study-may-dodge-161901879.html

As usual it's a Soros appendage that is behind it

Bela1

I knew you were kidding Peter. I can't seem to figure out how to use the smiley button yet. I cannot stand that idiot weasel, along with the Kennedy weasels, and that "do you know who I am? Kerry weasel, or the Dick Durbin weasel, Reid weasel, or Pelosi weasel.

Jane - Mock the Media!

Bela,

WHo do you think Patrick is going to crown senator?

narciso

It's a 'Confederacy of Weasels' bela, it was bad enough when Cuomo pere's musings were almost considered state dictat,

Clarice

neo, I don't think I can make a Wed meet up.I have a class in the afternoon in Bethesda and getting into the city at night gets harder and harder .

maryrose

Jane:
I was going to ask you or Rocco or Dave in Mass. the question about Kerry's sucessor.
I bet Deval puts himself in the seat and BaHnny Frank has a fit about it.
In reality, I think Frank gets the nod ,much to the chagrin of Markey and then runs for the seat in the spring or summer. It's a Barney stealth ploy.Have I mentioned that I hate that that idiot is named Barney? It was my son's favorite character when he was little.

maryrose

Barney the purple dinosaur. And BEBop.

Jane - Mock the Media!

I bet Patrick names someone from his staff to give him a leg up in the election but I have no clue. I'll try and remember to email my source tomorrow.

Jane - Mock the Media!

I can't think of anything Patrick owes Barney and unless his buddy Obama wants Frank in the Senate my guess is it's a no-go.

If Barney wanted to stay in DC, why didn't he run for re-election? It's very odd unless and and Mr. Right are having marital difficulties.

narciso

'It's like Chinese food,Jane, after a few months,
they want more,

Clarice

I think Barney's re-election was problematic and that for ego's sake he's like to have Senator in his epitaph even if it's just for a short time.

Clarice

Surely there's some green scam we can run on this ranch land to get us a federal grant or tax free status? C'mon--THINK!

maryrose

clarice:
Agreed. Kind of like Burris in Illinois. The title is the prize.
What are Scott's chances in a special election? Anyone from Mass. can weigh in.

Stephanie

Instalaunch for Clarice .

maryrose

How about we turn the ranch into a wind farm and manufacture solar panels? It's a Twofer.

maryrose

Oh rats1 I didn't donate to Bammy's campaign therefore no launch money for the ranch.
Congrats on the Instalaunch clarice!

Jane - Mock the Media!

I think Barney's re-election was problematic

I don't. He lives in a district that would vote for him 20 times because he is gay. No other reason necessary. Sean Bielat was a great candidate, but he didn't make a dent against a 15 year old Kennedy.

Captain Hate

when Cuomo pere's musings were almost considered state dictat,

Ugh, I remember those times. I also remember talking to people living in the state who universally told me what an overrated POS he was.

matt

congrats, clarice. I think has become ever more obvious with the IPCC scandal and the carbon tax/credit scandals and now Cuomo sitting on the fracking report that it is an insider's game to milk every dime from the rubes and keep the oligarchy in power.

Don't kill the goose that lays the golden eggs is rule #1, and the Saudis have been buying American politicians for a very long time.

MarkO

What? People would vote for someone because he's gay or black?

Bela1

Hi Jane,
I think it'll be Frankie and Fauxahontas... together...forever...

Patrick is indebted to Frank for helping him get elected gov.

I know, I know..I'm becoming physically ill trying to envision those two filthy beetches claiming to speak for me!

Thomas Collins

I'm going out on a limb with a state of mind prediction: JiB and CH are not unhappy with DC's opening drive. Redskins 7, Seahawks 0.

Captain Hate

20/20 TC

NKonIPAD

Wait...wait; TomM pays to see the "promised land" drek and put $11 bucks in the Gulf Sheiks' pockets? ... Hmm.. Brilliant!

Meanwhile Andy C? He's a man of average IQ like the rest of us. And when he was my client for 2 years and we were both working for a real sharp billionaire, Andy C showed the excellent judgment of being modest about that average IQ-- again, modest like the rest of us. I actually like him. He knows what he is and how he got here -- of course that means when the healthcare workers and teacher unions, and the lib enviros say jump-- he politely asks-- how high?

Thomas Collins

G3's right knee looks a little shaky, but his passing delivery looks just fine. Redskins 14, Seahawks 0.

boatbuilder

"Gravitas." Used to piss me off every time. When Clinton showed up they dropped "gravitas" like a hot potato.

Clarice

Thanks. I was making meyer lemon curd.I'll go check Insty.

Thomas Collins

Seahawks claw back in it. DC 14, Seattle 10.

Threadkiller (Get off your couch and leave the GOP!)

Didn't see this coming::

H.J.Res. 15: Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.

Jan 04, 2013 (113 Congress, 2013–2015) Rep. José Serrano [D-NY15] Referred to Committee

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/113/hjres15

For giggles everybody should google:"Jose Serrano natural born Clarence Thomas Stephen Breyer"

It will give you an idea of other things that Jose was worried about.

Goodbye America...

Jane - Mock the Media!

DO you think the democrats actually like the arrogant prick enough to want him to have a 3rd term?

Clarice

TK, repealing the 22nd amendment is way, way , way down on my list of things to worry about.

NKonIPAD

Clarice-- your American Thinker article was just fantastic. You nailed the enviro crooks, phonies and fools using-- the facts. Bravo.

Thomas Collins

Redskins 14, Seahawks 13 at the half.

Threadkiller (Get off your couch and leave the GOP!)

Too bad is so much higher on a US Representative's worry list, Clarice.

Threadkiller (Get off your couch and leave the GOP!)

...it is...

Holly

Darlin' Sue, I'm learning a new dance tonight, the progressive double two, and I'll be thinking about you. Hope you are healing well.

henry

Holly, that sounds like a new tax I'll have to pay.

Beasts of England

It is, however, LVMH...

narciso
Clarice

Thanks, Beasts. I've asked for a correction.

I am not good at proofing my own stuff. After I've read it a few times, my eyes see only what I think I told my hands to type.

narciso

Much like 'Beyond Petroleum, Louis Vuitton Moet Hennesey, tries to brand it self as something other than an evil corporation, and it's French, so like Schlumberger and Elf Aquitaine, seems to be able to deal with all sorts of sundry character under a patina of respectability,

Beasts of England

You're welcome, Clarice. As a writer myself, an extra pair of eyes is invaluable. And I mentioned it only because the leftists will zero in on any misstep by the 'opposition' to diminish our logic - even something as trivial as a transposed acronym...

Wonderful article, by the way!

Sue

Oh dear. Heartbreak for those of you who laughed at my Cowboys. Go Seahawks.

Clarice

Thanks.

It appears that the president does not have enough votes to confirm Hagel. Hagel has no real constituency except for Buchanan and Brezinski. So why is his name being floated? Is it a diversion of some sort like the fake birth certificate? What game is this?

Stephanie

I freakin hate Pete Carroll . RGIII s knee injury on that last did not look good . He's in excellent hands though with Dr Andrews .

Go Redskins .

narciso

They do seem to agree a whole lot, essentially a younger version of Scowcroft, who was the head of the Saudi lobby, and his bonafides at that J Street fundraiser indicate that,

This is a much more obvious move on his part, also very provocative;

http://pjmedia.com/richardfernandez/2013/01/06/couching-tiger-hidden-dagger/

Clarice

Sue, put up your dukes, girl! Those are fighting words.

Danube of Thought iPad

And how 'bout them Texans, Sue?

I'd love to see Carroll/Seahawks vs. Harbaugh/Niners for the NFC.

Captain Hate

Heartbreak for those of you who laughed at my Cowboys.

I'm still laughing at Romo.

Sue

Don't care. Those damnable Redskins lost. Booyah!

Sue

Clarice,

I couldn't duke it out with a feather right now. But that doesn't stop me from smiling at your loss. ::grin::

Jim Rhoads a/k/a vjnjagvet

Not me, DOT. I am always hoping the Falcons can take care of business.

Sue

I guess I'm a Texan fan for a while.

Sue

I do hope RGIII is okay.

Janet

Maybe the Hagel thing is about taking pressure off Kerry.

Captain Hate

I am always hoping the Falcons can take care of business.

I am too. Seattle's been a garbage franchise for a long time before Pete Carroll put an added veneer of slime on top of it. And I'm not saying that just because they beat the Skins; every game I've seen of theirs this year they've always dished out the type of cheap shots that the Saints did when they had Bountygate. You'd think King Roger's trained monkeys that review films would be a little sensitive to that. Eff those punks.

Regarding the Skins, any year you go from worst to first in your division is a good one. I'm pretty sure RG3 will have some maintenance done on his knee in the offseason and come back strong. This is the most optimistic I've been going into an offseason since HOF Joe Gibbs v1.0.

narciso

The reality, is his clout is much diminished, whatever the press tried to make it seen, he swung through fraud and other measures, 60 seats, and a Democratic house,

Jane - Mock the Media!

Sue,

In your honor, I've decided to root for your teams this year (unless of course they are against the Pats or the Sox). Of course I have no idea what your teams are - but I'm right there with you!

Stephanie

Go coons!!!

Jane - Mock the Media!

Several well-placed Capitol Hill sources tell me President Obama is expected to nominate John Brennan to be the next Director of the CIA.

I am told it could happen as early as to tomorrow.

rse

Mr refers to Jerusalem as Al Quds?

Heading the CIA?

Yikes.

narciso

Well Vickers is out of the loop because of the ZD 30 business, which seems to have backfired, if he was the source of the issues regarding
interrogations, I imagine Prince Nayef the Younger, will be nonplussed at best, at the news,

peter

Figures. I couldn't decide who to root for in the playoffs. Finally decided to root for the Redskins because of all I had read about RGIII being such a great guy, and then he gets injured when I watch the game.

hit and run

All that matters now....

Sue -- who is the cutest quarterback still playing?

NFC
Aaron Rodgers
Russell Wilson
Colin Kapernick
Matt Ryan

AFC
Joe Flacco
Matt Schaub
Peyton Manning
Tom Brady

Sue

Aaron Rodgers.

Sue

Jane

Find the team that is losing and that appears to be my team lately.

Stephanie

Mattie Ice .

Danube of Thought iPad

Only cheap shots I saw today came from DeAngelo Hall. A lot of trash talk too. He can talk from his sofa the rest of the way.

I believe RGIII will be at 100% for training camp. At first I thought he might have torn an ACL, but he was putting quite a bit of weight on it as he walked off.

Shanahan and the team doctor are clearly not on the same page. I foresee much controversy in the press tomorrow.

Captain Hate

It definitely isn't Flacco who looks like Ben Stiller's dimwitted brother.

Long but kinda on topic:

Time for New Look at 2008 Obama Passport Breach

Among the unexpected findings of the Sheriff Arpaio cold case was this one:
Records of Immigration and Naturalization Service cards filled out by airplane passengers arriving on international flights originating outside the United States in the month of August 1961, examined at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. are missing records for the week of President Obama’s birth, including the dates Aug. 1,1961 through Aug. 7,1961.

This revelation evoked memories of one of the great under-reported stories of the 2008 campaign, the multiple breaches of the presidential candidates’ passport records in March of that year. In one its more egregiously dishonest moments, the Washington Post headlined the story on March 22, “Rice Apologizes For Breach of Passport Data; Employees Looked at Files On Obama, Clinton, McCain.”

The “Rice” in question is Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The offended party in the Post story was Barack Obama. He told reporters that he expected "a full and thorough investigation," one that "should be done in conjunction with those congressional committees that have oversight function so it's not simply an internal matter."

It is not until the thirteenth paragraph of the Post story that the readers learns that of one of the three contract employees caught in the act worked for the Analysis Corporation, the CEO of which was John Brennan, a 25-year CIA veteran. The Post does report that Brennan donated $2,300 to the Obama campaign but suggests no deeper tie. This information is offset by the revelation that the other two culpable contract employees worked for Stanley Inc., whose CEO Philip Nolan contributed $1,000 to the Clinton campaign...
