Funny how we're inaugurating a man who would be anathema to MLK in all but one criterion, and even then, I don't think King would use the man's race as that criterion.

True, he had an eloquence and courage, regardless of any particular political argument,
when has either applied to Obama

I missed the inauguration listening to the most sublime music ever written IMO;
Concerto in D Major for Trumpet and Strings by Telemann, Maurice Andre on trumpet.
Maybe I'll add Lupe Fiasco to my playlist. :)

There were some amusing moments;
The crew on Fox News also recognized the Ryan/Jay-Z shot, with Brit Hume adding, “By the way, she looks stunning!” To which Chris Wallace joked, “Watch out. Brent Musberger got in trouble for that my friend.”

It is the adoration of Obama by the MFM that gets me. If they showed respect to the office of POTUS consistently, that would be one thing. But after living through the 8 years of disrespect, mocking, & ugliness thrown at President Bush constantly...this adoration just makes me sick.

Well he is possibly the less foolish of the triumvirate, that includes Williams and 'Thousands of countries' Sawyer.

Good Morning.
A quick glance at the current first page stories at Lucianne.com tells me the following:
Maureen Dowd on Morning Joe asks the important question "Why Can't Obama Use His ´Super-Brain´to Make Washington Work?
Time Reporter John Meachem thinks that Obama is like Reagan, and that "Obama’s Background Lets Him ‘Think In More Complex Terms,’ ‘Reach More Nuanced Positions’
Matthews agrees he's sorta' like Reagan, but why stop there, then says Obama's speech today was his Gettysburg Address.
Anna Wintour is withdrawing from wanting to be US Ambassador to Britain (so I guess the rode is open to Sarah Jessica Parker:
Both Colin Powell and Condie Rice think the Repub's "have to stop turning off large segments of the population".
Obama's Benediction Reverend thinks Jesus quoted MLKIngs words, not the other way round, and a top Marine General is being booted out because he made his civilian underlings work too hard at their Pentagon desk jobs.
Perhaps I'll go back to bed.

I find Bob Schieffer the most mendacious, nastiest little troll in any of the alphabet "news"rooms.

I'm guessing that it was a bit more than two minutes long. On the other hand, if Chrissie was referring to "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here," he may be onto something.

Man, I thought this carp was all over earlier in the day. My daughter is at a friend's house and there was talk about "watching the inauguration" when the hangout was scheduled but I angled for an afternoon time thinking it would be over and done with.
Well, hopefully she isn't telling her friend's parents how much her own parents dislike the guy. They're libs but I really like them.
I hope some smart folks are going to be there to take photos of all the garbage on the Mall afterwards.

--says Obama's speech today was his Gettysburg Address--
Wasn't his speech on gun grabbing that he gave a few days ago supposed to be his Gettysburg Address? It seems like every other speech he gives is said to be his Gettysburg Address by someone or other in the sycophantic, fawning media. Yet all his speeches are like Chinese takeout--thirty minutes later, no one can remember what it was he said. Still, Obama rolls out of bed, farts, and says "Good morning," and the MSM faints over the wonder of it all.

I'm not sure how King Roger the Pure can be happy with somebody associated with a double murder being in the Super Bowl. Like it or not, the facts around that act are murky and Ray Lewis wasn't a model citizen in the aftermath.
Posted by: Captain Hate | January 21, 2013 at 04:32 PM
Yes, derwill!! Some MFMer did say that about the other speech. Hahahahaa!
This is Obama's most memorable speech line for me - “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.” ~ Barack Hussein Obama Sept. 25, 2012 UN speech
Not too Gettysburgish. :(

Capt. Hate@4:32 - Agreed. Watched a segment about Lewis' rehabilitation and leadership qualities. Well, that's fine and dandy, but what about the two dead bodies, as you so noted. While I believe a leopard can occasionally change his spots, I still question both Lewis' sincerity and his presence on the field. Ugh.

Oldie but goodie -
Schieffer nagging Boehner about smoking on national TV.
One thing in the exchange is that Schieffer throws out "the leading cause of preventable deaths". Does that include ABORTION?
and then there is this exchange -
Boehner: "...But the American people ought to have the right to make those decisions on their own."
SCHIEFFER: "Well, I mean, they have a right to shoot themselves if they choose to."
Hah! A right to shoot! That's rich!
Last is this - "But something Schieffer didn't mention was that in 2008, Obama took more money from the tobacco industry than Boehner did.
Yet, according to LexisNexis, Schieffer has never scolded Obama for his smoking or asked him to quit in order to "set a good example.""

I think they keep trying to convince us that whatever his latest speech is, it is "his Gettysburg Address" because they need to point to something that would validate their worship of him, and there is precious little out there beyond "he won". And even that was accomplished by successfully branding Romney as an evil rich, murdering tax cheat who was going to take away women's tampons, rather than by his campaigning on any actual accomplishments, because there was none.
We were supposed to be living in a socialist utopia by now, instead there are more people on SS disability, more people on food stamps, more children living below the poverty level, and fewer people with jobs then ever before. And those ever dwindling people who do still have jobs are getting their hours cut and losing their medical insurance because of Obamacare. The national debt is swallowing the economy and Al Queda is not dead, but Americans in Africa are.
It's kind of hard to keep insisting your Messiah is walking on water, when he keeps getting his feet stuck in the mud. But as long as they keep showing him only from the waist up, they can go on fooling the useful idiots awhile longer, I suppose.

The more guys like him yap about how much God has chosen them to do this, that and the other while he's got six different kids by four different women, none of whom he deigned to marry, and managed to do the only thing more disreputable than being in on a double homicide, snitching on your pals to avoid a serious sentence, the more I suspect there aint a sincere bone in his body.

Don't you wish you know what joke Boehner told Obama to get that reaction from Michelle? Note that Barack seemed to like it.
(I don't give her a bad mark for the eye roll, since that is a traditional way for wives to object to jokes -- but I do lower her grade for the shoveling, and the the failure to make eye contact with Boehner.)

One positive thing I'll say for Ray Lewis: He has great linebacker technique. A few years ago I saw him get absolutely trucked when he tried to blow up a play and got knocked on his caboose. I thought it was game over for him and he'd be out of the league shortly; but he has great fundamentals to fall back on and plays really really smart.

I initially thought this was a dumb idea, but a constitutional battle would certainly increase public awareness that there hasn't been a budget in four years. Losing the legal fight would still have that effect, so it might be a smart idea after all.

He cites dissident astrophysicist Piers Corbyn, who notes that solar activity is in a lull which might maybe possibly sort of kind of affect the temperatures because after all global warming is caused by the sun. Nothing like a little logic from an astrophysicist. That's hard, astrophysics.
In comparison, Boris notes that Chinese and American scientists think the drops in temperatures in some parts of the world may be affected by huge chunks of ice cooling the Atlantic in what he refers to as the martini effect. Quite droll.
