Why should they care about such things? They're on top of the world. Everything they've done has worked, and they have a lot more flexibility now.

Extraneus

I think the bangs look ok, btw.

narciso

McCrystal, gave a fairly good account of him, in his memoir, in the LUN

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

--She knows damned well she is being ogled --

That word, I do not think it means what you think it means, senora.

centralcal

I don't have a problem with bangs per se, but she does give off a Tina Turner vibe with them.

Actually, they serve one purpose - to hide the hideousness of what has been done to her eyebrows that have ascended up her forehead, inching ever more close to her hairline. She was starting to look like some of the photoshop parodies of herself. Luckily the bangs disguise all that now.

centralcal

No, you would be wrong, Iggy. Ogle is exactly the word I meant to use as the media (male and female) slavishly follow every move she and BO make. Chrissy Matthews isn't the only media person getting leg tingles over them.

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

--I am sure all of us in an informal or casual meal at home have broken a few etiquette rules.--

Does throwing food and using my tummy as a crumb catcher count?

I'm trying to find some instance of Michelle's behavior that demonstrates her personality ever advanced beyond sophomore year high school. The silly clothes, the mugging faces, the childish gestures, the mindless cheerleading;
smells like teen spirit

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

Yeah but ogle has sexual overtones and who would ogle someone who quite probably has a set of razor sharp choppers down there?

squaredance

How Hume can think that woman is "stunning" id beyond me. she turns my stomach. How embarrassing to have these people in the White House. What a farce this country has become.

narciso

Beyonce, Squaredance, one would have to blind to deny that,

MarkO

Her hair is a wonderful tribute to The Supremes.

Hi Ann!

I can't add anything to the FLOTUS discussion, but I'm sure glad I'm not the only one that can't believe this is our First Lady. What a comedown from the amazing Laura.

Danube of Thought iPad

Table manners: it's a white thing; she wouldn't understand.

narciso

They put her in Mazim, and not at the bottom of the list, I think Esquire has her in the 100 most beautiful women of the Century, yes ogle seems Vizziniesque, yet this is the reaction they intend,

Dave (in MA)

For some reason, the Globe didn't do this in 2005.

Dave (in MA)
Still, Obama rolls out of bed, farts, and says "Good morning," and the MSM faints over the wonder of it all.
Of course they faint; they're momentarily cut off from oxygen.
I'll bet it's a faint wisp in comparison to one of Worf's crack rattlers.
narciso

Oversight, Dave, you can't think it's intentional, perish that thought, What is it about academia, that makes most impervious to
reason,

Ann

Our Internet went down after I posted those pics. Yikes

On my iPad now. Anyways, I think those bangs make her look meaner. They fit her radical self and go along with her fist bumps.

Hate to type on this thing. $&@?!

centralcal

I am often amazed at Michelle's outfits. We have (most of us) been expertly fitted at one time or another - women usually focused on bust and hips and waist length and leg lenth - to get just the right fit for that special gown or dress or what have you.

But, imagine having your arms measured so that the sleeves fit snugly, like a second skin, to accentuate your "toned" arms. Her sleeves are so snug (tight) I am always amazed she is able to maneuver her arms for anything at all.

peter

I don't know much about football, but somehow I would have expected the 49ers to have a bigger pointspread than 4 and a half points.

Here's some good news in Virginia!

BREAKING: While Dems Distracted by Inauguration, Virginia Senate GOP Stages a Coup

Manuel Transmission

One of the fellas in comments this weekend said (of her new banged hairdo) that she looks like a black (and rather homely) male actor, but I can't remember which one? Anybody remember who?

My immediate reaction was "Geraldine" Flip Wilson's alter ego.

narciso

He found a way to top 'you didn't build that'

But we have always understood that when times change, so must we; that fidelity to our founding principles requires new responses to new challenges; that preserving our individual freedoms ultimately requires collective action. For the American people can no more meet the demands of today’s world by acting alone than American soldiers could have met the forces of fascism or communism with muskets and militias. No single person can train all the math and science teachers we’ll need to equip our children for the future, or build the roads and networks and research labs that will bring new jobs and businesses to our shores. Now, more than ever, we must do these things together, as one nation, and one people.

Beasts of England

Ig@8:04 - '...smells like teen spirit'? I may have somewhat misoverestimated your age, sir.

RichatUF

1461 MORE DAYS...

thanks Drudge. Hello all.

narciso

How's the bunker, rich?

Beasts of England

Wow. Just wow. Michelle's manners wouldn't fly for ten seconds at my house, at any meal or occasion, for any reason. Infra dignitatem

centralcal

M.T. - you have a really good eye! Yes! Yes! Yes!

Geraldine never quite got with the haute couture apparel though. (Which today means ammo belts strapped under your chest and resting on your sizable hips.)

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

Physically, just turned 54.
Mentally, I'm a semester ahead of Michelle.

Captain Hate

fidelity to our founding principles requires new responses to new challenges

This sounds like the type of obtuse garbage I'd expect when Choom Boy and his fellow stoners had just burned one and are being really really stupid. He's too effing ignorant to know how dumb this sounds; I just want to know which of his catamites wrote this.

RichatUF

narciso-

I left that behind a few weeks ago and I've been prepping for school in my radio silence. I had a pretty good time at my secret undisclosed location.

I feel old.

Good news: I only need 57 credit hours for my degree.

Bad news: I wrecked my new car.

I also feel like an idiot.

Captain Hate

Bad news: I wrecked my new car.

I also feel like an idiot.

I've done the first; the second just automatically happens if you have a functioning set of values (the JEF wouldn't feel anything).

Beasts of England

I misoverestimated by 8. Physically. I'll chalk it up to your erudition and wisdom...

narciso

Sorry to hear that, that web design course, features Adobe, IQuery, JavaScript et al, not much about Concrete.

Here's some good news in Virginia!

I love the lefty whining about the move being done with no notice and in violation of state Constitution.

You guys might want to talk to the New York legislature about starting that little game.

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

Anybody photographed as much as Michelle is bound to have some pretty bad looking shots taken, but other than being an amazon, those glacial eyebrows cc mentioned and sporting a set of incisors Mr. Ed would have been proud to show off, she seems a not bad looking gal to me.

It is every single other aspect of her being which I find utterly repulsive and revolting, none more than her incessant bitching about the horrible pain of being in the WH and her utter unsuitability for any act or ceremony requiring dignity or decorum.

Rob Crawford
It is every single other aspect of her being which I find utterly repulsive and revolting...

You think that doesn't show in the photos?

narciso

Well one can forget her Madame Lafarge sensibility, the patient dumping patronage job,
that more worthy and able then you arrogance, but would it be so hard to look halfway presentable, as she is representing this country,

One of the agonizing Spanish language programs,
was babbling something about her picking more
high end items, with her pricier wardrove, to show that the recovery is underway, 'winning the future',

We've made it halfway.

RichatUF

narciso-

So you settled on a course. If so that's great to hear.

Captain H-

Not even a good story. Spun out on Monument Dr. (Janet knows where it's at) hit the curb then ended up on the sidewalk-not a scratch or ding in the body, but tore up the underside-2 tires, warped wheel, bent rear suspension. Did it after orientation for school and on my way to work.

Beasts of England

RichatUF@9:21 - If it assuages your pain, I've wrecked three new cars in the last 12 months: a new Jag XF, a new Jag XJ, and my Mom's Porsche Cayenne. I wrecked her Porsche while my XJ was in the shop being repaired!

And a few years ago, I backed my F430 into the former Mrs. Beasts brand new X5. Yes, I cried. But I'm not an idiot, just a little preoccupied on occasion.

Shit happens...

RichatUF

her picking more
high end items, with her pricier wardrove, to show that the recovery is underway, 'winning the future',

A refund or a malpractice suit is in order. Good grief what was that thing she was wearing.

centralcal

Iggy, I actually agree with you in some respects. She can be extraordinarily attractive in some photos. She CAN compensate for physical flaws with skilled clothing, make-up, and hair choices. She CAN be glamorous.

And then ... she opens her mouth or she lets her inner self shine through. And ALL is lost. ALL!

Captain Hate

Ouch, Rich. Look at it this way: At least you didn't hit somebody else and, even if you didn't cause any injuries, compound the problem by having the responding constabulary add a ticket and points which keep on giving.

Ann

Wish, I could separate them, iffy. The content of her character comes out of her pores and hangs in every strand of hair. ;)

Captain Hate

Holy shit, Beasts; you've been customizing some sweet rides.

RichatUF

Beasts-

If it assuages your pain, I've wrecked three new cars in the last 12 months

Yikes ... and my budget, and taste in cars, is a bit more modest.

If it makes the story any better, when I was leaving my secret undisclosed location, I got stopped by the [redacted] state police. When he pulled me over, he said the officers behind me didn't bother to chase after me because he clocked me at 107. Also said it was my lucky day and he was only writing my ticket for 24 over the limit because I was kind enough to stop for him.

Danube of Thought iPad

I have found her repulsive from the first moment I became aware of her.

Beasts of England

'Customizing' - Love it!

I've wasted several good fortunes on wine, women, and fast cars. No regrets. If your bored outta your gourd, iowahawk has published my automotive expenditures in each of his seven Earth Day Cruises. Last year's was my 599 GTB Fiorano F1. It doesn't suck, by the way...

They say this was specially made, calling vizzini;

They say this was specially made

It's hard to find a farrier who can pull off haute couture.

Jane on Ipad

When you like a person they become good looking. When you dislike someone, they never become good looking. It's a law of nature.

narciso

I wouldn't make that up,:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Michelle Obama made it a fashion tradition Monday night, wearing a custom-made Jason Wu gown to the inauguration balls. The ruby-colored dress was a follow-up to the white gown Wu made for her four years ago when she was new to Washington, the pomp and circumstance, and the fashion press.

But it's better then that spidery thing four years ago.

narciso

It's just the relentness nature of it all, you can't possibly have some admiration for the First Couple, it needs to be 'Manchurian candidate level' adoration, the opposition by contrast, doesn't merely have the wrong notions, they must be greedy, psychotic, venal, and corrupt, those are the two settings, that was seen at the Golden Globes, last week

Beasts of England

RichatUF@9:47 - Nicely done!

I was driving back from Nashville a few years ago in said F430 and missed my exit. Upset, I cranked it up a little to get to the next exit and whilst glancing at road signs, I failed to see a State Trooper coming at me from the opposite direction. After lifting off the accelerator, I looked down and was still running at 135 mph... I just pulled over and waited. The Trooper was extremely kind - wrote me at 90 mph. I have no idea why my auto insurance is so expensive...

centralcal

...that spidery thing four years ago...

What a gentleman you are, Narciso.

That "spidery thing" screamed Black Widow!.

Wonder who her stylist was for that? Are they still working in her style shoppe?

Frau Pappenheimer

"Dear gawd - where did you find those photos, Ann?"
I'm guessing "X-Files."

The bangs are fine. It's the black power fist that is disturbing.

Janet

I posted earlier about the double standard...that's what gets me. The Obamas are a nice family. That's his best quality, a loving father.
After the treatment of President Bush & Sarah Palin though...& the round tables yukking it up about angry sex with Michele Bachmann. It is just too much to listen to the adoration of everything Obama. The MFM literally swoon over the Obamas.
It's too much. Perhaps Obama thinks he's a king because the entire MFM world treats him like a king.
Republicans are mocked & belittled 24-7-365. How do you compete with that? It's a miracle we win any elections.

RichatUF

Beasts-

Wow ... I'm doing it all wrong...more wow.

Narciso, time for Pigs in Space.

Frau Pappenheimer

Janet, I'm depressed about D.C. but heartened that so many states are not in the hands of Democrats. Of course, my state is not one of them. grrrr

Danube of Thought iPad

I am liking the cut of Beasts' jib.

Gus

4 years from TODAY, Obama will be SHITCANNNED.

Promise.

Patriot4Freedom

Is this the Samuel L. Jackson hairdo that best approximates the new 'bangs' look of the FLOTUS ? (with an obvious adjustment for the hair color, natch)

or might it be Rick James?

I'm inclined to vote for something of a cross between the two of them.

Frau Pappenheimer

narciso, thank goodness Kim Stanley Robinson had the Sufis go to Mars and not the Wahhabis.

This is not even leading from behind:

President Barack Obama’s inauguration coincided with the beginning of the trial of an American pastor imprisoned in Iran for practicing Christianity. Saeed Abedini became an American citizen after marrying his American wife in 2010 and the State Department has yet to address the arrest.

RichatUF

4 years from TODAY, Obama will be SHITCANNNED

Thanks Gus. I'll hold you to it.

Saw flagged up at Drudge something from your neck of the the woods...2 strippers getting into a fight over a dollar...a strip club in Wisconsin!!!

I'm liking the crease in Beast's pants. Shit, I've got nothing...

Janet

I just mailed ya a letter, Frau.
If things get too bad I'll let ya know how to get to my brother's place in Texas. We can meet there.

I'm going to the March For Life on the 25th. Need to be surrounded by lots & lots of good people....soak it in. Ask Almighty God for mercy.
These are some times we are living in.

Patriot4Freedom

Did anyone happen to catch sight of the sign in the crowd of Obama supporters this A.M. on CNN that depicted Obama as a cross between a Pharaoh and some kind of "Joe Cool" character? It featured Obama's face in a Pharaoh's gold headdress on the left side of it, and some other picture of his face on the right side.

IIRC, it was captioned "Return of the King" at the top, and "Rebirth of the Cool" at the bottom. After their cameraman focused on it two times, they seemed to assiduously avoid showing it again.

I found the "Return of the King" wording and the Pharaoh depiction particularly unsettling. So far, I haven't been able to find any pics online, or any mention of it anywhere in the inaugation coverage.

It would have been nice to hear *just a little something* related to the traditional inaugural topics of our democratic traditions and the American political process's peaceful transfer of power in the JEF's speech . . . but that's obviously hoping for too much.

Jim Miller

Michelle isn't bad looking, if you are in to athletic types. (Some are, some aren't.)

I've often thought that she would have been a pretty good PE teacher and coach, maybe even college level like her brother.

But most of us, even if we like athletic types, are put off by that immense chip on her shoulder.

Frau Pappenheimer

Oh, Janet. You mean snail mail, don't you? I've been camped out at my email box.

TX sounds good. I have grandparents buried in TX.

daddy

JiB,

You were prescient; Inside job, 2 Canadian militants in Algeria siege

The operation also had help with inside knowledge - a former driver at the plant, Algeria's prime minister said Monday...the Islamists included a former driver at the complex from Niger and that the militants "knew the facility's layout by heart."

MLK Day! The day when USPS drops another billion because the union pay goes on and the mail service does not produce revenue.

Remember Martin Luther King for what he was:

JAN. 6, 1964, WAS A LONG DAY FOR Martin Luther King Jr. He spent the morning seated in the reserved section of the Supreme Court, listening as lawyers argued New York Times Co. v. Sullivan, a landmark case rising out of King's crusade against segregation in Alabama. The minister was something of an honored guest: Justice Arthur Goldberg quietly sent down a copy of King's account of the Montgomery bus boycott, ``Stride Toward Freedom,'' asking for an autograph. That night King retired to his room at the Willard Hotel. There FBI bugs reportedly picked up 14 hours of party chatter, the clinking of glasses and the sounds of illicit sex--including King's cries of ``I'm f---ing for God'' and ``I'm not a Negro tonight!''

Janet

Yeah,Frau. Snail mail. Sorry.

Beasts of England

DoT@10:55 - Van Voorhees VII might agree. lol

Yes, and that doesn't take away from what he did, to press for the end of 'Jim Crow', which wasn't an easy thing,

Beasts of England

RichatUF@10:40 - Reading your comments, I conclude that you're hardly doing it all wrong! And for what it's worth, the Fiorano is by far the most amazing machine I've ever owned (or driven). The technologies involved are staggering. Fast as lightening, tight as a tick, yet nimble around town. And I've (knock on wood) never wrecked it! lol

Janet

Remember back in 2010 when President Obama kept leaving out "by their Creator" when he quoted the Declaration of Independence.

Janet

And then there is the whole Dem Convention brooha about God & Jerusalem.

Ignatz

--tight as a tick--

Hmm, I always understood that to be a metaphor for sloshed to the gills.

Beasts drives cars tight as a tick and has numerous accidents. Things are becoming suddenly clearer.

Ignatz

Rich and Beasts remind me of a funny incident (for me anyway) years ago.
Was heading to my AF Reserve weekend duty early one Saturday morning in my 68 Charger and a lonely straight stretch beckoned me to wind it up to about 120 in the semi dark.
About half way down the straight stretch a figure on the right shoulder suddenly loomed, bizarrely hitch hiking at about 5:30AM.
I still have the mental image of his horrified face, pale as a ghost, with his mouth hanging open for just a fraction of a second illuminated in my headlights as I blew by him about two feet away.

Thank God he wasn't an indecisive squirrel or I'd just about now be making parole.

Danube of Thought iPad

"How tight was it?"

Tight as a tick.

Tighter than Dick's hatband.

Tighter than a Pullman window.

Tighter than a bull's ass at fly time.

daddy

This shot told me all I needed to know:

Janet

Obama saying 'Preserving our individual freedoms ultimately requires collective action'...is kinda weird. What does that mean? It is government that is threatening our freedoms. Too much government is the problem.

narciso

Well it's curious the competition ended up out of the way, at least in once instance;

http://photos.last-video.com/photos/valerie-trierweiler

Not to mention Sarkozy was strongly pro American, and equally aggressive about Iran,

jimmyk

Obama saying 'Preserving our individual freedoms ultimately requires collective action'...is kinda weird.

He's always saying meaningless high-sounding nonsense like that. The NPR crowd just eats it up. Wouldn't it be great for someone to press him on that? "Mr. President, with all due respect, what the h*** does that even mean?"

narciso

This is more of it, jimmy, a solution in search of a problem, which becomes more of a problem;

http://hotair.com/archives/2013/01/21/video-obama-promises-to-do-something-about-climate-change/

Ralph L

Cat's ass tight
(sorry, I can't type the sound effects for that)

I've heard and read a few bits of the speech. It's the first inaugural I haven't watched since at least '89. He's even more banal than Clinton, and that's saying a lot. All those over-educated Democrats in DC and academia, and they can't find him a decent speechwriter? How could the brilliant writer of "Dreams" put up with this crud for 4 years, and why hasn't the MFM thought about that?

narciso

Well they had a better invocation, then Joseph Lowery, and the poem was better, The one by Maya Angelou really was cringeworthy, but otherwise,

jimmyk

Yes, narc, for example this doozy: "But we reject the belief that America must choose between caring for the generation that built this country and investing in the generation that will build its future."

What does that even mean? Who expressed that belief in those terms? And does he think we can have our cake and eat it too? And what does "America" have to choose, as opposed to millions of individuals deciding these things for themselves?

narciso

He 'torches' those strawmen, with the pack of smokes, he keeps for when someone calls him on it,
