Sultan Knish - Refusing to be Terrorized

"America will refuse to be terrorized when it refuses to admit terrorists or potential terrorists into the country and when it begins aggressively deporting terrorist sympathizers from its cities. Americans will refuse to be terrorized when they demand a government that closes the door to terrorists, instead of praising everyone for their courage once the acts of terror happen."

and from Clarice's Pieces today - I Know why the Lame Duck Squawks

"Fate doesn't seem to be with him. The perpetrators of the Boston terror campaign seem to be recent Islamic immigrants and the citizens of Massachusetts, which has very strict gun control laws, were forced to cower inside their defenseless homes in fear."

The residents of Boston and the surrounding towns were asked to remain in their homes to help and not hinder the LEO's from doing their jobs.

Captain Hate

Juan Williams doesn't think that the JEF's meltdown last week means that the gun grabbing bill's failure was a defeat for him. What an idiot.

"America will refuse to be terrorized when it refuses to admit terrorists or potential terrorists into the country..."

Figuring out who the 'potential' terrorists are is the really tricky part.

Off off topic, but I just love this (via Ace):

Poo. The pic shows up in preview and while refreshing, but then it goes "POOF".

It's on this book thread post.

I'm curious as to how the LEO's lost track of the vehicle Jihadi Minor was driving when he ran over Jihadi Major's head in his escape. I'm also very curious as to exactly where Jihadi Minor left the vehicle and how he failed to leave a discernible blood trail upon exiting the vehicle while managing to leave one clear enough for the citizen to discover when he went out for a smoke.

It's almost as big a puzzle as why the FBI's face recognition software wasn't quite up to making a match from their Person of Interest database or why they released blurry images when they, theoretically, possess state of the art image enhancement technology.

I'd also like to see the Conclusions section of the FBI report on the success of the lockdown exercise but I'll have wings or horns before that happens. I find docility as unimpressive as Full Bullshit Investigation lies.

At the tail end of the last thread---Given that Boston provided a ton of money to murderous (and commie) IRA scum, I wonder how many of the cowering Bostonians reflected upon roosting chickens.

Damn good point, Rick.

Maybe Governor Kean can start a bipartisan investigation and write a report

Ignatz

DiFi is absolutely correct.
With his domestic violence incident older bro became a prohibited person re acquiring firearms; consequently we know that he didn't possess any at the shootout where his life ended.
Now if only he had been prohibited from buying pressure cookers.
In fact she could tack on some language about how from here on out making bombs and detonating them on city streets will be frowned upon.
Problem solved. Next?

My guess is that the original files were destroyed because:

IMO, there is no way the Islamist would have settled for just destroying training material; they would have demanded files on Islamists be destroyed. Some patriot managed to hide some and what we are seeing came from that.

Well Scott Shane, deserves his own 'Melson Muntz,' in the adjoining piece, 'motivations

What was the purpose of releasing the FLIR imagery of Jihadi Minor in the boat after the citizen had reported his location? Did Butch herself authorize the release? Was she making a "Big Sis is watching!" statement?

Where was the FLIR unit while Jihadi Minor was polishing off Jihadi Major while escaping?

Initially on April 15th, Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis "recommended" that people stay in their homes. It wasn't until Friday night after the MIT Police Officer was killed and the following bomb throwing chase ensued that residents were ordered to stay home. My point being that I think the residents of Boston and the surrounding towns should be commended for helping the police do their job by staying out of their way. Can you imagine the chaos that the LEO's would have to deal with just searching the cars alone coming into and out of Watertown.

So, that sociology professor, at UC Riverside, was right, religion specially Islam keeps people from suicide, it doesn't manifest itself in otherways though.

jimmyk

I think the residents of Boston and the surrounding towns should be commended for helping the police do their job by staying out of their way.

Fair enough, but it's still a bit of a mystery how they let the younger one get away during that first shootout. And, as it turned out, they only found him when the lockdown was lifted and the boat owner ventured outside. The point being that citizens can help as well as hinder, though it's easier and safer if they are armed.

Threadkiller

Thanks for the shout out, hit.

THe Kitzer piece, in the Daily Mail and Fox, has some contrary evidence, to other accounts about the Tsarnaev's being much more blue collar, re

Did anyone notice how fast the media found the school records of the terrorists?

Still looking for Obama's...

Paco

"The residents of Boston and the surrounding towns were asked to remain in their homes to help and not hinder the LEO's from doing their jobs."

But it was not until residents were given the green light to go outside that a citizen is the one who found the terrorist and not the cops. If anyone thinks the police can protect them they are sadly mistaken. Hiding under your bed with you feet sticking is not a good plan for survival

Bela1

Clarice,
You out did yourself once again with this morning's new Pieces. You were spot on, as always. I look forward to the Pieces every Sunday morn now. Call me addicted. :D

Rick,
I read or heard that they found that vehicle with blood inside which indicated he was wounded in the over night battle that just ensued. Over 800 rounds fired with IEDs going off? Wow. How he managed to flee, after backing up over his scumbag bro while the cops had him on the ground trying to cuff him remains an unsolved mystery.

Anyhow, I can sleep better now. It's been a hell of a week, but moreso for the victims and the many survivors that have lost limbs, remain seriously wounded, and their futures denied them. I think Obama is an idiot for what he said..his speech was self-serving, and how is he was able to say that they can/will walk again is one of the most ridiculous things he could say at a time like this.

It pretty much boggles the mind as to how these scumbags developed a complete & utter disdain for human life. Yeah, I weeped when I saw the pic of the scumbag is close proximity to many bomb victims, including the little boy from Dorchester. And, while Governor Dickhead ponders the motive for this madness even today, I am reminded of a Letter to the Editor my husband wrote...oh, say back in 2002 or so that got published in the Cambridge Chronicle concerning Cambridge as a Santuary City. As DC fire chief/Terrorism Liaison, he was madder than hell and predicted something like this would happen. Well, it has. I still say something smells rotten in Denmark with this terrorist threat drill during the run of the Boston Marathon. Anyone hear of the BPD radio transmission immediately prior to the explosion? Is it true they did spot the first device? Grr...

My heart goes out to all of the victims in this assault on our freedoms. Clearly a terrorist act, Obama and Holder can rot in hell. So can the FBI if they had prior knowledge of these pigs and did NOTHING!

Janet

Great point, TK!

Rick Ballard....the Mass chopper team obviously doesn't have the same skills as the LAPD, with their experience at tracking all the high speed chases in SoCal. The FLIR hotspot generated by a lone car speeding through the night time suburbs would have been easy to follow had they simply made the move to track it.

Boston marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev was thrown out of his local mosque for ‘crazy’ behavior after getting involved a ‘shouting match’ with his imam according to one member of the congregation.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was ejected from his Boston mosque for aggressive behavior after insulting Martin Luther King Jr. during a Friday prayer service three months ago.

Described as being full of rage by a worshiper who would give his name only as Muhammad, Tamerlan was ejected from the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center three months ago for claiming that Martin Luther King Jr. was not a man Muslims should look to emulate.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2312470/Tamerlan-Tsarnaev-Boston-bomber-thrown-mosque-raged-filled-rant-Martin-Luther-King.html

Clearly, Tamerlan was a ‘crazy” Muslim … but he deserved to be run over by Dzhokhar, who obviously had come to his senses, for bad mouthing an outstanding brother, who happens to have a federal holiday named after him.

--My point being that I think the residents of Boston and the surrounding towns should be commended for helping--

They can be commended for cooperating in support of LEOs when it was a request and support was their choice, but once it became an order, then "shelter in place" was not a choice and compliance was a matter of not defying an order.

BTW, I'm conflicted and uncertain about both the need and authority for turning a request into an order. I remain on the fence for now.

Now for something completely different ...

COPENHAGEN — It began as a stunt intended to prove that hardship and poverty still existed in this small, wealthy country, but it backfired badly. Visit a single mother of two on welfare, a liberal member of Parliament goaded a skeptical political opponent, see for yourself how hard it is.

It turned out, however, that life on welfare was not so hard. The 36-year-old single mother, given the pseudonym “Carina” in the news media, had more money to spend than many of the country’s full-time workers. All told, she was getting about $2,700 a month, and she had been on welfare since she was 16.

Marlene

The Tsarnaev family probably never had a problem with airport security, because TSA was too busy with Granny's artificial hip.

I was simply aghast at the Sunday shows with all these supposed talking heads, in full scratch mode, over what could possibly have caused those nice boys to do this.

We are a country that has abandoned ethics and values. Everyone is a victim. Parenting barely exists in many places and where it does, the parents are as screwed up as the kids.

Our politicians are corrupt and the media are the pushers of that corruption.

There is simply nothing to wonder about. The penalties in this country are few and far between. Already suspect #2, who was partying after killing 3 and blowing off the legs of 100, is being considered the victim of his mean older brother - the very guy suspect #2 drove over and killed 3 nights ago.

Then he returned to murder one cop and put another in grave condition. No worries, he's just a victim.

The governor and Boston Mayor can't imagine what provoked these nice kids. Jihad doesn't exist in their liberal minds. And our federal prosecutor, who recently caused a MIT student to kill himself, can't possibly ponder whether or not the death penalty should be on the table.

Meanwhile Chuck Schumer won't be deterred in passing an immigration bill. After all suspect #2 is an Obama supporter so we need a lot more like him registered to vote.

In the words of MarkO: DOOM

jimmyk

Yes, Neo, the front page of the NYT was actually kind of a mood lifter today. There was that piece on Denmark, an article on how the Kochs are looking to buy up some major newspapers, and the headline on the older bomber's trip to Russia where the M word actually made it into the second paragraph.

That plus the Maher video made me think that every now and then some truth finds its way through the smoke and mirrors set up by the MSM.

Ha! MOTUS is having lots of fun with Clarice's article this morning.

Cecil Turner

This was what I found interesting from the Times piece:

But the F.B.I. never followed up on Tamerlan once he returned, a senior law enforcement official acknowledged on Saturday, adding that its investigation did not turn up anything and it did not have the legal authority to keep tabs on him. Investigators are now scrambling to review that trip, and learn about any extremists who might have influenced, trained or directed Tamerlan while he was there.
Maybe it's just me, but if a guy on a Russian passport is being accused by the Russians of having terrorist ties, can someone explain why we have to let him stay here? And have no "legal authority" to keep tabs on him? Is this another of the left hand not talking to the right, or reluctance to deport taken to a ridiculous extreme, or what?

I'm with Big Papi on this one.

Good grief, Alan Colmes's wife *must* be blind or a masochist. He's on FX trying to deliver the "99% want gun control" spiel and his new dye job is, indeed, arresting. Tammy Bruce was smart enough to demand a separate room for her part of the encounter.

Clearly you don't get it Cecil. That would be mean. That would put him at a disadvantage. That would make us racists. I'm sure he was a very nice guy; his wife probably deserved to be beaten, and he was motivated to bomb the marathon by a failure to pass gun control.

I saw that too. I am just so sick of these ridiculous excuses. We are losing our country.

The sunday shows did me in - all these morons who can't possible imagine what caused this terrorism. "What did we do wrong"?

We have instant polls on everything under the sun; American Idol, Global Warming, should Jodi Arias get the death penalty, how many Americans wanted to approve Obama's gun grab, you name it.

So how come no poll on a very reasonable, topical question, and apparently, according to the MSM, is the most important question of the day: "What do Americans think was the reason that these brothers committed these terrorist acts?"

It's almost as if they aren't interested in the answer.

Frau Tabak

Really OT - it bothers me greatly to have Janet and her fellow smokers labeled killers for smoking tobacco. Does Janet endanger anyone when she is out driving a car or riding her motorcycle--even if puffing away? Seeing the throngs of the young idiots attending the CO pot rally and mass smoke-in makes me angry. The mellow majority probably jumped in cars and sped away. Please assure me that smoking pot while driving is not dangerous. Also, assure me that pot second-hand smoke is actually beneficial to my health.

It is amazing how Clarice pulled together so many threads to drive home the petulant lame duckery of the ElJefe wannabe. And particularly gratifying to see MOTUS take up and expand the cudgel with some particularly hilarious imagery.

Danube of Thought

Why doesn't obamreleaseyourrecords get Obama's transcripts, instead of bitching about other media not doing so?

Frau Tabak

Chinese Judge Dee of the Tang dynasty would have given the remaining terrorist a fast, fair trial and very appropriate sentence: a quick death if information is given; if not, a long, painful death.

Rick Ballard

"BTW, I'm conflicted and uncertain about both the need and authority for turning a request into an order."

I'm not. The vision of Bostonians rolling over in their beds as Paul Revere galloped by because the British security forces had advised and then ordered them to remain indoors doesn't put me in a happy place.

Security forces are agents of the state and I have no problem with them performing their duties to the best of their ability. John Adams' defense of the British soldiers involved in the first Boston Massacre provides a perfect illustration of that point.

I have a very serious problem with a state which is so careless about security that it determines it necessary to lockdown a city to hunt down a Mahometan who was named after a Mahometan butcher best remembered for the enormous piles of skulls he had stacked around the ruins of the cities which his Muslim armies had sacked and destroyed.

In a world of even slightly less than average intelligence, the person responsible for the grant of asylum might have reflected on the possibility that a father willing to name his eldest son after a notorious butcher might have done something to earn the status which caused him to flee.

Old Lurker

"Frowned upon" Iggy? Stop with the half measures already; let's just make exploding a bomb in a crowded public place illegal! At least make them get permits.

Clarice

Thank you all very much.

Danube of Thought

I'm conflicted and uncertain about both the need and authority for turning a request into an order

The authority is the common-law police power of the state, which e.g. empowers the government to burn down a row of houses in order to keep a fire from destroying an entire city. The need is debatable, but I imagine the motive was to prevent the taking of hostages or the murder of more innocents.

The two of them were throwing bombs and homemade grenades at the police. The older brother had a bomb strapped to his chest. I would have given the same order. Stay in your house and don't answer the door.

Danube of Thought

Stay in your house and don't answer the door.

And if anybody knocks, fire a couple of shotgun blasts through the door. Trust me on this.

Danube of Thought

International Business Times:

A source close to the investigation said: "We have no doubt the brothers were not acting alone. The devices used to detonate the two bombs were highly sophisticated and not the kind of thing people learn from Google.

"They were too advanced. Someone gave the brothers the skills and it is now our job to find out just who they were. Agents think the sleeper cell has up to a dozen members and has been waiting several years for their day to come."

More than 1,000 FBI agents have been assigned to track down the cell. A specialist team of CIA and FBI interrogators is on hand at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre in Boston, waiting to question Dzhokhar.

Glenn Beck claims to have some leaked info re the Saudi (LUN):

... I want you to listen carefully. Yesterday, the F.B.I. released the pictures of and video of two men they say were suspects in the Boston bombings. These are the one was killed last night, and the other hopefully being killed right now. They say they believe the two men carried and placed the two bombs that killed the three innocent Americans including an eight year old boy and injured more than 200 Americans.

Absent from their announcement was any mention of the Saudi national. Now the documents were brought to our attention at TheBlaze, and those documents indicate that this guy is scheduled for deportation next Tuesday due to issues related to national security. The document goes on to say that the individual is linked to the Boston bombing. That’s what the federal document says. ...

There are several dedicated Americans in the law enforcement community that decided they could not stand idly by, and let the truth be swept under the rug. That a deportation order was being issued. It was issued Tuesday 4:00 p.m. by an organization or a government entity that most people have never heard of called the National Targeting Center. It’s a little known federal antiterrorism division. ...

Let me send this message very clear: We know who this Saudi national is. It is in your best interest of the integrity of the people of United States of America. It’s best coming from you, not from a news organization. It’s best coming from you. You have until Monday. We have information on who this man is. And listen to me carefully. In your little “event” world, we know he is a very bad, bad, bad man. I know that doesn’t make any sense to you right now. But on Monday it will. ...

What part of the dark side of Islam don't they understand? The part responsible for Osama's hatred of the West? Or for the resentment of America as the Great Satan? Or the jihadist spirit of the original Salafists and proseletyzers of Islam?

It is what it is as the pithy saying goes. Not a lot of artifice or deep analysis necessary. Faith based violence is the default position of a certain segment of the Ummah. Jihad is a duty.

Tamurlan, once he lost his shot at Olympic gold never recovered just like a lot of athletes who "coulda been contenders". I don't know about Watertown, but in Boston it definitely was not an order. I think people either couldn't get to work because of the shutdown of public transportation, or simply decided to stay home.

Laura White

My theory: the real target was Lord and Taylor's (whose cameras, coincidentally, helped ID the bombers); the crazy aunt had been arrested for shoplifting $2500 worth of their merchandise two years before, I believe, and Lord and Taylor's prosecuted her for it. When would be a cleverer time to bomb Lord and Taylor's than when the Boston Marathon just happens to using your storefront area near the finish line? Thus the bombing would be an honor bombing. This fits with honor murder theory I read somewhere online yesterday, that those triple unsolved murders of the older brother's best American friend and two others, also two years ago (but not at the same time--I wonder which happened first--note to self--find out), was committed by the older brother, with the motive that his friend had been dealing pot to his younger brother or otherwise offending against basic Islamic precepts in some way that rose to murder (evidently, lots of things rise to murder with this guy). The three men had their throats slit--honor killing style. That would also explain the strewn marijuana in the apartment of the three dead men (the marijuana was strewn over their corpses). It's not a sign that this was a drug deal gone bad or some such; it's a sign of contempt for the wickedness of the heathen (but it's also a useful red herring, just as the Boston Marathon was a useful red herring vis a vis the Lord and Taylor's attack). Pretty good, huh? Poke away.

2 Breitbart updates:

UPDATE (2:34 PM EDT): The UK Daily Mail reports that Dzhokhar may have received a neck wound by shooting himself: "A new report says Dzhokhar Tsarnaev shoved his pistol in his own mouth and pulled the trigger as SWAT officers and federal agents closed in on the boat where he was hiding in Friday night. However, instead of killing him, the bullet simply passed through his neck."

UPDATE (1:58 PM EDT): CBS's national security reporter John Miller reports that Dzhokhar is unable to speak at the hospital because of a throat wound that he may have been sustained after an attempted suicide attempt. Miller reports the exit wound was in the back of his neck.

Based on a "source familiar with the case," the Los Angeles Times reports that Dzhokhar's "neck wound apparently did not initially silence" Tsarnaev, "who was swearing profusely in the ambulance ride after his final confrontation with the FBI, according to a source familiar with the case."

The Dr. Jassey article Rick linked makes a lot of sense, connects a lot of dots, and fingers the primary motive as Islamic terrorism. I wouldn't discount Laura's thesis for the existence of the second bomb at Lord & Taylor, but I suspect that revenge was a secondary motive for what was clearly a terroristic act at the finish line.

Wonderful "Pieces" clarice. A true masterpiece exposing all the truths we know and the motivations behind all the behavior.
