Thomas Collins

It seems perfectly plausible that Sunnis and Shiites would kill each other in certain circumstances, but still be able to cooperate against The Great Satan or Canada. A Sunni-Shiite joint venture limited to killing Westerners? Makes sense to me.

Jack is Back

Can't post more than Test.

Gus

Nonsense Thomas. Obama told us that his EXTENSIVE Muzzlim Indonesia experience would make the Islamic World oh-so comfortable with us. I mean he did live with his Commie Mommie in Indonesia from the age of 6-until-9. This is all made up by the GOP.

It's April in Canada!! MUZZLIM SPRING!!!!

narciso

Wait a tick, who was recently in Iran, who took a detour through Jordan, ah 'Stay Puff' Ghaith.

NK

TomM-- UNpossible. As I told Clarice earlier- there is no terrorist threat since the Hero of Abbotadad personally iced OBL and threw the body off of tha helo into the Indian Ocean. This is a false flag report to throw us off of Harper's Canadian Menace. That is all.

Threadkiller

Speaking of strange relationships, anyone watching the immigration hearing?

Are Charles Schumer and Grocer Norquist playing for the same team?

NK

Schumer/Norquist-- why yes, Schumer power addsiction needs this and Norquist has been bought by his small business clientel. the Dem immigrant industry and small AND large businesses want the immigration bill. The working stiffs, especially low skill working class people and patriots get it in the neck.

narciso

I think I have a patent on 'Canadian Menace' from 2008.

A Sunni-Shiite joint venture limited to killing Westerners? Makes sense to me.

Yeah, and it makes sense to them, too. Politics makes stranger bedfellows than that (especially when attacking the Great Satan and allies).

Ignatz

--Al Qaeda is Sunni and Iran is predominantly Shiite.--

The USSR was a communist dictatorship while the UK and USA were liberal republics/democracies during WW2.

Jack is Back

CT,

You have outdone yourself this time. What the hell is that?

narciso

well it's more like the Molotov/Ribbentrop pact''

From Spencer 'throw them through a plate glass' Ackerman;

It is unknown what prompted the Boston attack. Despite rampant speculation that Suspect #1, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, committed the attack based on his extreme Islamist views, his younger brother Dzhokhar is barely beginning to recover from his wounds sufficiently to communicate with his investigators. That may be having a depressive effect on online-extremist cheering for Tsarnaev, according to the people who watch them closely.

OT-- JiB-- my 20 yo daughter was on babysitting duty this afternoon picking up her charge at Friends Academy in Manhattan. Turns out Patrick McEnroe sends at least one of his daughters there, and he was picking up as well at the school office. he smiled and said hello to my daughter-- she was celebrity smitten (she's a pretty good player and fan of the men's tour so she knows the McEnroes) When she texted me, I replied that she should not to talk to skinny middle aged men-- especially the ones originally from Queens.

Jane on Ipad

Amy went to Canada on school vacation and said at the border they were stopping and searching cars full of men (last week). They were practically ripping the cars up, and forcing the men to undress while searching them, so it was not just business as usual. They clearly saw this coming.

My plane was delayed this AM due to the sequester. We sat on the tarmac for an hour and a half at the insistance of the FAA. What a joke.

I spent most of the fight down reading James' book (love it so far) and writing an essay on why "see something, say something" will never ever work. Then my Ipad erased it.

I'm ready to sue Garmen which was intent on taking me to a wild animal farm instead of the Hilton. I did manage to find a liquor store on the way so all was not lost.

Cecil Turner

What the hell is that?

View from inside a Harrier (version B, night attack). A very nice cockpit layout.

Laura White

Sign of Obama weakness. FBI had every reason to get this out now (in this kind of sting, the sting-masters have a lot of flexibility regarding timing), as their flub re Tamerlaine Jr. was getting them a great deal of poor press, at least online--and who knows when that kind of questioning might reach the LOVs? Obama had every reason to keep it iced till later, as jihadis are already hogging the limelight to his deleterious effect. So between Obama and the FBI, who won? You see for yourself.

PaulV

Shia Iran supports the minority Sunni regime in Syria, support Sunni Taliban in AFG and allowed bunch of 911 terrorist transit Iran on way to kill 3000 Americans.

Extraneus

This whole "Al Qaeda" business has been ridiculous from day one in my opinion. Islam itself preaches death to infidels. No membership card in any sub-group is required.

So, what do Muslims actually pray for? The only supplication in the rak’a is the recitation of Al-Fatihah (Surah 1 of the Quran). This is what they pray for:

Guide us to the straight path, the path of those whom You have favored, Not of those who have incurred your wrath, nor of those who have gone astray.

The phrase ‘those who have incurred your wrath” comes from Surah 2:61 which says,

Shame and misery were stamped upon [the Israelites] and they incurred the wrath of Allah; because they disbelieved Allah’s signs and slew His prophets unjustly; because they were rebels and transgressors.

The phrase “those who have gone astray” comes from Surah 4:44 which says,

Consider those to whom a portion of the Scriptures was given [i.e., Christians]. They purchase error for themselves and wish to see you go astray.

So the only supplication in the standard Muslim prayer is asking Allah to keep the Muslim from the path of the Jews and Christians. This prayer is recited seventeen times a day by devout Muslims.

The Friday prayer is even more offensive to Jews and Christians, as it requires not only two recitations of Al-Fatihah, but also Surah 62 – The Friday Congregation – and Surah 63 – The Hypocrites. Surah 62 specifically condemns Gentiles as being “in gross error,” and Jews are compared with “a donkey laden with books.” Surah 63 condemns “hypocrites,” those who have renounced their Muslim faith. “They are the enemy. Guard yourself against them.”

What's a religious Muslim supposed to do about God's "wrath"?

Extraneus
“Let not the believers take the unbelievers for friends rather than believers; and whoever does this, he shall have nothing of (the guardianship of) Allah, but you should guard yourselves against them, guarding carefully; and Allah makes you cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and to Allah is the eventual coming.” (Sura 3, verse 28).

“And guard yourselves against the fire which has been prepared for the unbelievers.” (Sura 3, verse 131)

“And when you journey in the earth, there is no blame on you if you shorten the prayer, if you fear that those who disbelieve will cause you distress, surely the unbelievers are your open ENEMY.” (Sura 4, verse 101).

“O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness; and know that Allah is with those who guard (against evil).” (Sura 9, verse 123).

“Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire.” (Sura 76, verse 4).

“O you who believe! if you obey a party from among those who have been given the Book (The Jews and Christians), they will turn you back as unbelievers after you have believed.” (Sura 3, verse 100).

“And their taking usury (interests on money) though indeed they were forbidden it and their devouring the property of people falsely, and We have prepared for the unbelievers from among them a painful chastisement.” (Sura 4. verse 161).

“Surely Allah has cursed the unbelievers (Jews, Christians and followers of other faiths) and has prepared for them a burning fire.” (Sura 33, verse 64).

“And whoever does not believe in Allah and His Apostle, then surely We have prepared burning fire for the unbelievers.” (Sura 48, verse 13).

Motive. You want Motive. I'll give you Motive.

We hate the fact that some toothy 8 year old kid with a Boston Red Sox affixiation can live free, go to school, play with his friends and have heroes who are not Chechen Islamists with f**king pressure cooker bombs. That's number 1.

Number 2, you elitist bastards in Boston think its so cool to walk down Commonweatlth Avenune window shopping and going into The Hawthorne for a quick drink while we sit in our "Terrorista#1" BMW 3 series waiting fo that punk brother of Tamberlan to come back with some Choom.

Number 3 and last for now (because I have to go to London and teach Harry not to diss us) we just plain hate you people. You may have unlimited raisains but we have 72 virgins. hahahahaaha.

Extraneus

Sorry for the long posts, and there's plenty more that I know people here are familiar with, but this business about "Al Qaeda" being our enemy, as opposed to Islam and it's true adherents, is too convenient. And in most cases, just cowardice.

James D.

Jane, glad you're liking the book!

narciso

So, the Al Harbi lad as opposed to the other one mentioned up thread, was supposed to be going to school in Findlay, Ohio, not Boston's NESE.

Janet

You are exactly right, Extraneus.

Iran has been harboring various AQ personnel for many years now. Several of Bin Laden's family were there under house arrest a few years ago that I recall.

So there is some low level interaction but nothing that would evince cross border raids.

Remember, the Iranians were the prime movers behind Muqtada al Sadr and the Shiite militias in Iraq as well as formed IED's that were killing a lot of Americans in 05-07 and we did nothing.

Laura White

Narciso, that is a pretty post about Putin's lecture--extraordinarily sad when I think the Russian premier has a point--an admission I would never really ever want to make, given the general reprehensible morals of Russian leaders--why should "democracy" make them much better?

DoT on iPad

It must be killing Sirota that these guys up in Canada were Mahometans too. He just can't catch a break lately.

NK

DoT-- wait, but if they were Mahometans from the Caucuses (i.e. Caucasian) he's OK with that... right?

narciso

It does seem that way, the Afghan intervention led to Massoud being displaced by the Taliban,
as Karzai is likely to follow, Quaddafi was replaced by a similar unstable regime, and Syria
well we've already seen this film.

Leslie,

wherever you are. we are comig over this June. First to Antwerp then after suffering the time in the castle down to Venice for 4 days, the to Firenze (in Santa Croce), then to Monte Caactini Terme (our friend has a hotel there). Then on to Rome for a stay in the Campo de' Fiori and our vist to Vatican city. Frederick is learning Italian now from Mrs. JiB. Hope it all works out. If your there then let me know.

narciso

Cool, JiB,

DoT on iPad

This from a CUNY prof:

"Now we have captured the two terrorists from Chechnya who come from the troubled region that is Muslim, but we cannot understand their motives, not yet.  And Obama encourages us to refrain.

"This said, the mortuary pictures of the older brother of the two are extremely disturbing, raising questions as to whether the Boston Police Department captured him with too much force."

What would we do without professors? The guy's kid brother does a Phil Leotardo on his head, and it's "our" fault?

Rick Ballard

JiB,

I believe Leslie has returned home. Her last comment regarded the delight many Americans feel upon discovering Italian plumbing design for very old mid-rise buildings to have limited functionality.

I hope your wife is reading Guareschi aloud to Frederick. That plus the sport (soccer) news from Il Corriere and/or La Nazione will help his ears adjust.

Rick Ballard

DoT,

The morgue shot of Jihadi Major shows the gaping incision made by ER docs to either relieve pressure on the heart or perform a manual heart massage. There was no need to close the incision due to Jihadi Major's permanent departure from this vale of tears.

The prof's picture belongs with the credentialed moron ensemble.

If there's any more room.

Speaking about Italian footballers-- Paolo DiCanio has managed (coached) the Sunderland FC team in England for 2 weeks now, and gained 2 crucial wins to help avoid relegation to one division lower ($120M revenue hit) Ole Paolo is an Italian Fascist out of Lazio in Rome, but he adds NOT a RACIST. The English soccer writer-wags dryly point out that Paolo has taken to 'saluting the 4 corners of the stadium in tribute to the fans".... BUT NOT THAT WAY!

Ignatz

--Amy went to Canada on school vacation and said at the border they were stopping and searching cars full of men (last week).--

I deplore and condemn in the strongest terms this gender profiling.
Why weren't they doing same to cars full of grannies and Boy Scouts?

--"This said, the mortuary pictures of the older brother of the two are extremely disturbing, raising questions as to whether the Boston Police Department captured him with too much force."--

Please join me in deploring that the law enforcement officials of our northeastern tier of states did not improperly ID our learned CUNY professor as Tamerlane Taesorvovakoveaski (close as I can get without looking it up) and doing a similar number on him as they did to our Chechen friend.

Threadkiller

I missed the "moment of silence" memo.

Instead I cut up a bedsheet into fashionable clothing, went to the middle of the town square, raised my fists to the sky and performed my loudest tongue-rolling scream.

It was one of the sweetest sounds you may ever hear.

UPDATE: Rubio press secretary Alex Conant e-mails National Review, “I regret evoking slavery in the context of the current debate because obviously there’s no comparison between the plight of slaves and today’s illegal immigrants. The point I was trying to make (in 140 characters) is that allowing immigrants to apply for permanent residence, but not eventually be able to apply for the full benefits of citizenship, has been tried and failed, and has had disastrous social consequences in Europe today.”

AliceH,

Per She Who Commutes Biweekly to Chicago These Days, the backscatter machines are only located on A concourse, the lines are reasonable, and the patdowns infrequent and more of an irritant than an assault.

Let me know if you can make time for dinner or drinks on your way through.

That bit of satire may have missed the mark.

The comparison I was trying to make was, why are we always quiet when stuff like this happens?

Jack is Back

Rick,

Mrs. JiB, a fluent Italian speaker, and I are so familiar to Italia we bring only our palates and no prejudice. Never had anything close to the experiences others have offered up.

But then we go to Belgium first to inoculate on the food and wine first. Try it some time:)

Frederick's first visit to the Vatican while all the other kds are stil in school. Cool.

Extraneus

Is there a youtube link, TK?

NK,

I lived in London when de Canio played for West Ham under Harry Redknapp. He was one of the top 5 players in football at the time and what we would call a pesonality. Sort of like the Terrell Owens or Hector Cruz of his era. If he was a fascist I would not hav known it. All I know he was a pain in the ass to my team - Chelsea.

He is a great addition to the BFL. The rest of the idiots need to GFTs.

For Janet:

Rangel files suit to overturn censure

The 82-year-old Rangel says the House censure vote, which blemished the Harlem lawmaker's four-decade-long career in the House, should be vacated because staff and members of the House Ethics Committee withheld evidence of misconduct in conducting the probe against him.

The lawsuit says there would have been a "different outcome" to the case if the committee had not suppressed material pointing to misconduct in the investigation.

Extraneus
The House in late 2010 voted to censure Rangel for various financial actions, including failure to pay all his taxes, filing misleading financial statements and improperly seeking money from corporate interests.
NK

JiB-- as you must remember the football writers in the UK are very witty, and one of them I read came up with the "DiCanio salutes the supporters in the 4 corners of the Stadium of Light.... not THAT way." Very funny. DiCanio is a fascist, no surprise, as he came out of the LazioSC club, which is the sporting club of the fascists in Rome.

narciso

And Maradona, is a Chavez loving weasel,

gmax

More Religion of Peace fun and games? I wonder what their motivation could possibly be? I mean besides that the French Canadians are the biggest pain in the asses in the entire North American continent...

Narc-- well Maradonna is of course a communist, so the Chavez thing makes sense, especially, when Chavez sends -- well sent anyway-- him big time swag.

Jack is Back

Amen, my brother narciso.

Name your posion NK. De Camio versus the whold damn IRA he was facing. No contest.

Brian

I suspect that your assertion that al Queda are Sunni is wrong. Some people have that misconception, because Sunni Wahabiists were closely associated with the movement initially.

But just as Islam contains many sects, only two of which are the Sunnis and the Shiites, al Queda is comprised of several Muslim sects, also ..., sects located all over the world.

Remember, Iraq's Saddam Hussein, his family and his supporters were Sunnis, and they certainly weren't members of al Queda,

In fact, [many] of the al Queda who fought the USA and its allies in Iraq, Afganistan and in southeast Asia were Shiites.

The 82-year-old Rangel says the House censure vote, which blemished the Harlem lawmaker's four-decade-long career in the House, should be vacated because staff and members of the House Ethics Committee withheld evidence of misconduct in conducting the probe against him.

Do it again and if it turns out to be just as bad or worse, kick him out. How lucky ya feeling, Chollie?

narciso

No, he's arguing it was like Stern's failed probe,

Clarice

Sunnis and Shiites working together? Impossible. That would be like--um--Hitler and Stalin forming a pact.

Janet

Wouldn't that be the limit?...unable to even censure the corrupt scoundrels.
Censure is already NOTHING....how pathetic can we become? :(

sbw

Charlie, did you do it?

Then shaddup.

Clarice

Anyone uderstand the Glen Beck "major revelation" toay? Thomas Lipscomb says it's big but I read beck's web page and can't make heads or tails of his story.

Captain Hate

No, he's arguing it was like Stern's failed probe

So they stumbled upon his misdeeds because of some other investigation and then declared that he was the only dirty one? I can see the parallels; by all means give him the Donaghy treatment.

Jim Rhoads f/k/a vnjagvet

ISTM, Canada is more forthcoming than the El Jefe wannabe's administration about possible connections between those engaged in clearly terrorist activities and the Mohametans (http, Rick).

narciso

Captain, why would young master Al Harbi be detailed to Findlay, Ohio, and then end up 1,000 miles away in Boston?

Janet

Hey Clarice,
I wanted to recommend 2 restaurants here in Arlington if you're ever over my way.

PUPATELLA Neapolitan Pizzeria and Friggitoria & Cassatt's - Kiwi Cafe & Gallery.

Pupatella is a hole-in-the-wall little place that had excellent pizza. I know you make your own now, but this place was very, very good.
Cassatt's isn't as snooty as it sounds (well, maybe a little), but the food is great. Different, well made, every course is very good...beginning to end. We've only ever done the early 3 course dinner.
Anyway, FYI.

matt

I was in a pub, I believe when the "hand of God" goal was scored and have despised Maradona ever since. He's an out and out bum. He evaded something like $30-40 Million in taxes in Italy and has had coke issues since the 70's. No respect for the game or for himself. His interlude at the World Cup was a sad reminder of what he was when young. He is an addlepated fool.

As to football I am a dyed in the wool Red Devil fan having lived in Greater Manchester and been lucky enough to get seats at Old Trafford a few times.

Several years ago I stood outside of Stamford Bridge in a cold drizzle for 2 hours trying to find one bloody ticket to the match with United. Ended up in a pub watching the game. Much more comfortable and United won, thank you very much. The sole offer was at ₤150; a very strong reminder to spend money wisely, but the experience would have been amazing. I had perhaps 3 pints and maybe a shepherds pie so it was a bargain.

Beck - Saudi was suspect number one. He is involved. He got tagged a 3B - that's as high as it goes by the Targeting Center. Everyone agreed that he was a suspect and there was irrefutable evidence. Certain proof and evidence.

Beck has the deportation order. Nappy lied to Congress.

Saudi was tagged on a terror watch list. al-Harbi was given a student visa. al-Harbi is set to be deported. There are TWO Saudi nationals - there is another, not the one in the hospital. This person is not identified yet. Goes to school in Findlay Ohio. Not able to locate him in Findlay. He has an apartment in Boston.

al-Harbi had event file created - he is involved. Beck wants to know where the other event file is - and if this person is a 3B.

Sources tell Beck the yet unidentified Saudi may be on the plane tomorrow - or he may already be gone.

Beck - this is a continuation of what happened at Benghazi.

Prince Saud - he wanted congressional documents from 9-11 to remain sealed. This is the same person that met with Kerry and Obama.

Saudi Arabians can get a US student visa and be classified / registered as Canadian.

Saudi attended Muslim Brotherhood Mosque. Same as Black and White Hat. Event File for Saudi al-Harbi altered on April 17th 2013.

Beck thinks there is a connection between Muslim Brotherhood, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Syria

Captain Hate

I'm not getting the Findlay connection at all.

matt

Saudis seem to have a get out of USA Free card every time.

Rick Ballard

Well, alahu akbar, ain't that a coincidence. Who could ever have guessed those nice young Saudis might have been involved?

How do we know for sure they weren't just some guys from the neighborhood?

AliceH

I put this on the wrong thread. And also lost part of it. This is a do-over.

Thanks, Walter.

Wow - I guess I really ought to watch the "local" news occasionally, especially since this is the sort of thing my Mom worries about (though I'm 100 miles from there). Hope you weren't in the path of it yourself!

I'm in early stages of planning here, but thinking of June timeframe. Then again, I've been saying that the last 3 years, so... will see.

Janet

Farrakhan son is part-time Harvey cop but hasn’t worked a shift in 4 years

a bit ~ " Officer Farrakhan does, though, appear to do “police work” off-duty, more than a dozen miles outside Harvey city limits, in Chicago, where he uses his Harvey squad car’s lights to stop traffic and escorts his father’s unofficial motorcade, a Chicago Sun-Times investigation has found.

The unusual arrangement that allows him to carry a concealed gun into places where regular citizens can’t, and to drive a police car, despite apparently failing to do regular police work for the suburb that employs him, may be especially useful to the man who leads the Nation of Islam’s “Fruit of Islam” security detail."

AliceH

::sigh::

Another part I lost was saying while searching for Lambert airport to find what airlines used which concourse, I discovered a huge tornado hit the airport Friday causing tons of damage. Airport was shut down until late saturday. etc. etc. etc.

Brian

Now that was newsworthy, Janet. Kudos.

AliceH

D'OH!- The tornado story I referenced is from 2011. I clearly need a drink and also need to stop going Off Topic. Sorry.

Gus

Janet, I ate at a really really really good Italian place in Crystal City. A couple blocks east of the Mall as I remember. Do you know which one it is.

Janet

I don't know, Gus. We don't eat out that often so I'm not the best person to ask. I'd be interested though if you remember the name.

Ignatz

Is the new proposal that we legally allow to immigrate into the US millions of muslims, as Europe has to its great regret, muslims who have never truly assimilated anywhere?

Millions of mestizos transforming our country for the worse hasn't been enough, now we need to import actual enemies of the state?

James Burnham's Suicide of the West only grows more prescient, even though it was primarily concerned with our acquiescence to communism. But the left never runs out of superior foreign cultures it would like us to die on behalf of.

CUNY Professor:

"This said, the mortuary pictures of the older brother of the two are extremely disturbing, raising questions as to whether the Boston Police Department captured him with too much force."

I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm guessing this same CUNY Professor would look at the Trial pictures of Dr Gosnell's aborted babies and not conclude that too much force was being used at pithing their spines with dirty scissors and cutting off their feet to save as ornaments in mason jars.

Ignatz

In honor of Earth Day today, I hope everyone didn't recycle and let their cars idle pointlessly while they nipped into the store and bought some tuna mixed with dolphin parts and carried it out in a plastic bag and sprayed a little 2-4-5-T on the pesky berry vines in the backyard when you got home and turned all the 100 watt bulbs on in your house simultaneously and watched Ax Men and Deadliest Catch and Top Gear and punched any spotted owls which may have passed within reach.
I know I did.

Janet I'll find it. I ate there 2 summers ago when my Mother was buried at Arlington. The best thing about the restaurant was MY SISTER PAID THE TAB!!

I don't believe the explosion that blew up the fertilizer distribution center in West, Texas was an accident.

I hope to hell there are people in law enforcement and in the intelligence community that really are going to get to the bottom of this and we will know for sure if it was an accident or not. I don't believe it was an accident.
