Ignatz

--He means "overestimate." (Didn't somebody else make this same gaffe a day or so ago?)-

Yeah, I linked to some sportswriter saying the same thing.

NK

Benghazi/Assad Sarin-- I've been saying for 5 years that Obummer is a hardcore Alinsky Leftist, and a complete moron and incompetent. I believe Benghazi/Assad prove that -- Unless he has complete control of the Congress, or puts competents in charge of one of his bureaucracies, or he turns over his election campaign completely to a bunch of white and asian big data geeks -- he's utterly useless. What an effin' moron.

NK

'Moron'-- yes I do give Obummer credit for a room temp IQ-- rather than an an 'Idiot' level sub 25 IQ.

narciso

Well he is the front man, whether it's the Apollo Alliance, writing up the health care bill, and the stimulus, sometimes he is stood in the shadows, funding the gun control studies through Joyce, that everyone else parrots.

matt

Susan Rice was the face on that first Sunday, but Hillary Clinton was in a studio filming an apology to the Pakistani people for the Mohammed video. 6 weeks later, Obama was pushing the same line of bullshit in front of the entire UN. Benghazi was, in fact, a vast left wing conspiracy.

Clarice

Jane, thanks for that inspiring link. I hope Malone is right. Your comment about Trey Gowdy's new protocol for the hearings was cheering, too.

NK

Matt--- you left out what for me was the worst spectacle (railroading the YouTube guy aside-- that's tyranny-- a whole 'nother ballgame) -- the worst spectacle for me Obummer and Hildabeast at Andrews AFB lying their asses off in front of flag draped coffins and lying to victim father's faces about the hapless You Tube guy. Despicable liars, made worse by the fact that America's enemies knew exactly who assasinated the Ambassador and his security detail.

narciso

Ah, yes, how did I forget that, which prompted the Railway minister to offer a reward for Nakoula, that worked out well. This was btw,
as I dubbed it a Shawwal offensive, culminating with the attack on the Bastion,

This & that Larry Wilkerson story...the same people turn up over & over & over. Never held to account for their giant failures & lies.

"It was all very careless and confused. They were careless people … they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made." ~ The Great Gatsby
...& then they reappeared & tried to smash up some more things.

Janet

We need a giant list of all the crap the State Dept. was spending our money on rather than security in Libya.
How bout Hillary's bar tabs next to quoted requests for more security at Benghazi?

The State Dept. turned down security requests but they built electric car docking stations in Europe.

narciso

I agree with the comment in the link;

I should have mentioned that "destroyed", much like "epic", don't mean what they used too.

A fun video anyways.

narciso

God, what a Moron, Manchin, and not in a Horde way, provokes a 'dance of interpretive rage'

Danube of Thought

railroading the YouTube guy aside

Actually, wasn't that guy put in the slams by CA state authorities on a pretty clear-cut parole violation?

narciso

Let me try again, in the LUN

NK

DoT-- he is indeed in State prison on a parole violation-- which all happened immediately after the Obummers put out the YouTube claim. No coincidence.. let's get the US Attorney and the Ca state authorities to testify and produce their email and phone logs.

Jane

Clarice,

It seems that Congress rarely does anything but disappoint.

I don't think Ted Cruz is on that committee, I wish he was. Jason Chaffetz, Mike Lee and Gowdy will have to shine brightly.

The dems will all say it's because the republicans stopped funding - of course the funding they stopped had nothing to do with security.

narciso

That exercise of raw power, does instill confidence in witness protection doesn't it, it's almost like they want to send a signal, as with Dr. Afridi, or Magarief who was the subject of a subsequent assassination attempt, that to aid us, in any way, is a mug's game.

Clarice

well, Janet, what price can you put on experience like that?

Jane --heh- I was not optimistic until I read your links..And now you want to bring me down again?

Bummer.

narciso

Gowdy's like a rottweiler, Chaffetz is pretty good, Lee is solid,

Danube of Thought

No coincidence

Doesn't matter whether it's a coincidence or not. It was a clear-cut violation of his parole; it became very public at the time of the Cairo riot. What was CA supposed to do--ignore it? On what grounds could we compel discovery from the US Atty and the CA authorities?

Gus

Danube, why were cameras at his home when they came to arrest him. Is that how most parole violators are handled?

Nk, don't forget Joe Biden telling Tyrone Woods family that their SON must have had HUGE BALLS.

"Did you son always have balls the size of cue balls?" That's class!! Son murdered because they Marxist/Libtard couldn't be bothered, and the Vice President talks about the guys balls in to the guys father in front of his casket.

NK

Congressional Hearings under the Klieg Lights?-- a very mixed record-- HUAC and McCarthy Hearings had a big political impact because the allegations were true ( the Left has spent 60+ years changing the subject to McCarthy's idiocy); watergate had a big impact because again the allegations that Nixon lied to the nation were true; Iran-Contragate only reinforced political views, the left hated Reagan more, and the Right got a new hero in Ollie North but LIV didn't care much, Clarance Thomas-- same thing, Starr Testimony-- same thing. The charges in IranContra and Thomas were wildly trumped up for political purposes, in Starr, the allegations were true, but the Media bailed out Clinton with the 'it's only sex' BS.-- But the truth had lasting effect-- for LIVs they forever associate Clinton with stained Blue dresses. But in all cases the DC politicians running the show were lame or worse. They are not very good at theater-- so don't expect much from benghazi hearings.

Ignatz

Where are the wrongful death suits if requests for security were denied and they could have been rescued but weren't?

Is the government immune to such a suit in the matter of civilian employees in a non war zone?

Danube of Thought

Roger L. Simon is great on Benghazi. We are a nation riding a one-way ticket to Palookaville, as the cabinet once headed by Jay, Jefferson, Madison, Webster et al. goes banana republic under Hillary Clinton.

NK

DoT-- for me Nakoula doesn't get a pass because he was wrongly accused of getting 4 people killed b/c of his YouTube idiocy. But that's not the point-- Nakoula was very publicly arrested by Marshals as part of a very obvious Obummer/Axelrod-- "we got the bad guy" show, to claim they were 'doing something' about Benghazi. The fact that Nakoula was a parole violator doesn't change the fact that he was falsely accused of causing Benghazi by political scoundrels Obummer/Axelrod.

Danube of Thought

Is the government immune to such a suit

I believe so.

MarkO

Fielding Mellish.

Rick Ballard

Clarice,

I'm trying to imagine the hook the propagandists will use to fog the issue. Clinton's impeachment for perjury and subornation of perjury turned into "it's all about sex". What will the propagandists try this time?

The history of scandals after re-election (LBJ-Vietnam, Nixon-Watergate, Reagan-Irancontra, Clinton-Lewinsky) suggests a much higher interest on the part of propagandists post election than pre-election. I don't anticipate impeachment or resignation but I wouldn't be surprised at a nice, slow evisceration leading to a closer look at other areas of massive corruption.

He's a very dirty little man with a great number of associates even dirtier.

Danube of Thought

I agree that the public treatment of Nakoula was disgraceful. But he'd be in the cooler even without the publicity directed at him.

NK

I know I'm repeating myself-- but Nakoula's parole violation and Nakoula's You Tube idiocy aren't the point-- The point is a corrupt POTUS using Nakoula as a convenient fallGuy (a guilty one-- of other crimes)to bail himself out politically--AT THE EXPENSE OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE-- who were endangered by the fact that AQ knew Obummer was lying about Nakoula's YouTube. That's the scandal-- Obummer made AQ stronger by his lies about the video.

Danube of Thought

From TK's 9:11:

"...things are moving closer to bringing the fraudulent Obama birth certificate case to a level of federal prosecution,” the site reported Thursday.

“According to Zullo, there are increasing numbers of people … that will not only bring the case to the public light, but also to a high level of legal prosecution.”

No one will be prosecuted. Only delusional people believe that someone will. All bets are off on what an Alabama court might do, but there will be no federal prosecution.

JeanneB

Funny how Obama's "gaffes" are allowed to go uncorrected for days, weeks, months...however long they are useful and until they become UNuseful.

If his advisors KNEW he had made a mistake, why wasn't the statement walked back over the next few news cycles? I'll tell you why: because it was such a huge gaffe it would have to be retracted, not walked back. And that would be too embarassing.

Why does the media let them get away with it? Check out Benghazi, where many insiders have told us they knew early on that it was a terrorist attack. Yet they watched Susan Rice's testimony and not one administration official demanded a correction of the asserion that it was a spontaneous demonstration. They knew it was wrong, but allowed the public to be misled.

It's their modus operandi.

Clarice

I'm beginning to think the Benghazi hearings will feature testimony so damning and compelling even the MSM twits can't ignore it. And people are getting steamed about what they hear about the immigration hearing, lost employment and--just around the corner--the high cost of Obamacare and the diminution of the best health system in the world, To say O is now on thin ice--and his party as well--seems something of an understatment

MarkO

Juan Williams tipped us off to the Obama response when he said one would have to see if there was anything "new" in the testimony. It will all be described as "old" and "well-known," and "entirely political."

Ignatz

Brian Terry and Jaime Zapata are suing the ATF for their deaths in the line of ICE duty.

Ignatz

Sorry, obviously their families are suing the ATF. Sheesh.

NK

From Clarice's lips ...

Per my above comment-- don't expect much political fallout from the hearings; the truth about Benghazi will have an impact -- but the hearings themselves will be quickly forgotten and not have an impact.

Danube of Thought

I assume, Iggy, that the defendants will bring on a motion to dismiss under sovereign immunity when all parties have been served. I am far enough out of touch with that body of law that I really don't know about the plaintiffs' chances of getting it to a jury.

MarkO

He's a nasty little killer.

James D.

Clarice, I pray you're right, but I really wonder. Nothing else has gotten past the MSM and seriously affected the mood of the LIVs as far as their opinion of Obama.

Benghazi certainly OUGHT to, but I don't know. I'm afraid we're completely over the edge and lost, and that there are enough LIVs who will follow Obama and his fellow travelers straight into the abyss regardless of what he does, and drag the rest of us down with them.

Jane

Clarice,

That's the side of me that is afraid to get too optimistic. I'll reign it in.

narciso

So wait there was no squadron available at Sigonella, at least to do a fly by?

MarkO

"Hicks told congressional investigators that if the U.S. had quickly sent a military aircraft over Benghazi, it might have saved American lives. The U.S. Souda Bay Naval Base is an hour's flight from Libya."

Obama was asleep and preparing for a fundraiser in Vegas.

Danube of Thought

Excellent news from Hot Air:

You have to feel a little sorry for Robert Redford, don’t you? He just released a feature film asking audiences to reconsider their harsh feelings about the Weather Underground, which set off bombs, killed police officers, and robbed banks for more than a decade of domestic terrorism, but who were just misunderstood people acting on their deeply-held beliefs about justice. Unfortunately for Redford, a couple of misunderstood kids did the same thing at the Boston Marathon ten days after the film opened. So far, Redford’s paean to leftist terrorists and murders has grossed only $3.5 million since its limited April 5th opening, and in the last two weeks, its wide distribution has only made $1.9 million:

Week 4, 807 screens: $1429 per screen (drop of 69.8%)
Week 5, 541 screens: $1436 per screen

Sadly, it looks like Redford’s terrorista chic came out at the worst possible time, as noted by the loss of 266 screens from the first week of wide release to the second. People were reminded that bombers and terrorists aren’t heroes, anti-heroes, or at all sympathetic — except in Redford’s circles.

Scumbags.

NK

Obviously, there's no excuse for refusing a 'show of force' flyover to deter the AQ attackers on the 'safe house', and at a minimum get several pairs of TactAir eyeballs of what was going on. On sending ground forces in that night? Panetta/JCS have addressed this, and have said- legitimately-- that sending ground forces into an unclear and confused situation is not a good idea. Again-- the scandal of Benghazi isn't the events of that night-- the scandal was the failure to prepare embassy staff and facilities on 9/11 for possible attacks, and the BIG YOU TUBE VIDEO LIE. Those are the scandals.

narciso

Right up their with the violin tugging letter from Gitmo detainee Mouckarbal, that same day.

Another film which I don't think will get very much mileage, is the adaptation of Le Carre's 'A Most Wanted Man' a tale of a misuderstood Chechen lad who washes up in Hamburg, with an icon that bears the bank account of his Russian colonel father.

pagar

"So far, Redford’s paean to leftist terrorists and murders has grossed only $3.5 million since its limited April 5th opening, and in the last two weeks, its wide distribution has only made $1.9 million:"

The fact that we have any Americans willing to pay to see such garbage is disheartening.

Obama is playing golf today.

It's just too odd that some Americans think he's so great. :(

We're all rocket scientists compared to most of the politicians in DC, Jane.

That's when I started to really wake up to politics...when I realized that I knew more about certain stories than the politicians & the MFM did.

Janet @12:52, that should go down in history as one of the great photos of the American spirit.
Thanks for posting it.

Bauman = a man!

Heck the radio people at my Clear Channel station, are woefully underinformed or plain wrong, it's like Duke and Duke has a list of what is, and won't be said.

NK

If Repubs go after the lack of a miltary response that night, they'll wind up looking like schmucks and help Obummer. The crime here was the failure to prepare for 9/11 EVERYWHERE in the ME, and then the lies after Benghazi. This story puts things in good perspective IMO: http://thelead.blogs.cnn.com/2013/05/06/former-deputy-chief-of-mission-in-libya-u-s-military-assets-were-told-to-stand-down/

jimmyk

Bill Ayers is claiming he only did property damage.

That's how he thought of his girlfriend? Never mind the other guy who was killed as well.

Clarice

I 'm curious to see how the ATF will deny the guns were run in the course of the ATF agent's duties. The agents say they were ordered to do so. ATF will do what the govt always does when sued for tortious conduct, lie--delay--etc. But I think they'll lose.

A good primer is Sami v U.S. which I handled in the trial court and which still gives me a headache when I try to understand it.http://scholar.google.com/scholar_case?case=4843438244327377033&hl=en&as_sdt=2&as_vis=1&oi=scholarr

MarkO

Why do we always caution our side against going full bore against the Obama errors and crimes. How did that work for Romney? I propose a campaign based on the concept What Would Obama Do? WWOD.

narciso

I'm all confuzzled about that one, Clarice.

Clarice

It was such a complicated case to try--but we represented him because ti was so interesting and a first on a lot f fronts.

narciso

From the CNN report, they were hunting this fellow for nearly four years, he's most of the reason, for the Mali Assistance program;

Another source briefed on the investigation had previously told CNN that Belmoktar had received a call in the aftermath of the Benghazi attack from someone in or close to the city. Whoever made the call was excited.

narciso

It was an interesting case, the decision is a little puzzling though

Captain Hate

I don't anticipate impeachment or resignation but I wouldn't be surprised at a nice, slow evisceration leading to a closer look at other areas of massive corruption.

I'd settle for the donks being hamstrung for about a decade or however long it takes the party of stoopid to squander any advantage.

Janet

Why do we always caution our side against going full bore against the Obama errors and crimes.

I KNOW! What was that post by Captain Hate that showed the Republicans approving Brennan in exchange for some Benghazi documents? I think that was it...but, it was SO infuriating.

The Repubs should have called a press conference & screamed about the blackmail & about the administration refusing to release documents. Why give an inch? I don't get it at all.

narciso

A commenter on Patterico, reminded me, of that 'convenient' slip and fall, that Hillary had when she was due to testify,

NK

Hildabeast's concussion-- how soon we forget. Nothing --ABSOLUTELY NOTHING-- the HildaBeast does isn't scripted and usually a sham. Safire was absolutely right 17 years ago-- she's a congenital liar.

Captain Hate

What was that post by Captain Hate that showed the Republicans approving Brennan in exchange for some Benghazi documents? I think that was it...but, it was SO infuriating.

Specifically it was from a link by Jane iirc about the gelded Repukes being able to look at documents, but not keep them or report them to the MFM, about Benghazi in return for not stonewalling Brennan. Contrast that to how the donks reacted to Abu Ghraib. The Republicans don't take being an opposition party seriously; they'd sell us all out for a seat at the table.

Jane

A commenter on Patterico, reminded me, of that 'convenient' slip and fall, that Hillary had when she was due to testify

I think they take out a deck of cards and decide which order to play them.

They will start with blame: ("the republicans refused to give us adequate funding to keep these guys safe")

After that comes dismissal: ("it was a very long time ago")

Then comes outrage: ("I did everything humanly possible, and more to prevent this")

Then comes illness: ("I hurt my big toe")

After which we have racism, sexism or agism, whatever is best suited.

And then they will go back to the blame thing.

They are utterly predictable.

henry

Jane, the Dem on Fox News Sunday went straight to "shame" after the lack of funding gambit failed. This is the argument that failed utterly still is used in WI from the fleebagging event to today. I think that means even the Dems know their other arguments are as stale as "where's the beef".

henry

ack. stupid close tags.

Clarice

Guess who Ben Rhode's (who concoted the Administration's tap dance on Benghazi) brother is--try the CEO of CBS.

jimmyk

Jane, you've nailed it. They sound like some of my students ("My grandmother died," "That was covered three months ago".) We might expect more from the leaders of the free world, but the MSM enable them. The only hope is the alternative media can get the job done.

centralcal

Well, that is interesting indeed, Clarice. Makes Attkisson's reporting all the more brave on her part.

James D.

The Republicans don't take being an opposition party seriously; they'd sell us all out for a seat at the table.

This is 1,000% true.

At the end of the day, if what we all believe about Benghazi is true, we're talking about a President, and a Secretary of State, and a plethora of high officials in various Cabinet-level departments, who, viewed in the best possible light:

1. ignored obvious warnings and took no action to enhance the security of diplomats in an dangerous, volatile Islamic-controlled country on the anniversery of 9/112

2. Did not even attempt to see if there was any action that might have provided aid to the Ambassador and the other besieged Americans in Benghazi.

3. Lied repeatedly and ridiculously to the American people about it (the video, etc) so as to not disturb the President's re-election changes.

People who would do that are not decent people. They can't be regarded as simply fellow citizens with whom one might have minor policy disagreements. They are evil, full stop, and it's well past time our side understood that.

MarkO

Our side needs to buy a network.

Jane

Well, that is interesting indeed, Clarice. Makes Attkisson's reporting all the more brave on her part.

It really does. I went to both NBC and ABC and searched on Benghazi. On May 1 they both reported that the FBI had identified the culprits.

That's the extent of it.

rse

James-they have a Transformation obligation to fulfill. The one the Clintons started and losing the House derailed in 94 before Hillarycare and then Monica and the impeachment left the promise unfulfilled.

henry-you know my posts about CORE and RECAST and the PI? She is working with our friend the systems king even though they are technically two different universities on all the gaming and the next generation of cybernetics. With mentions that the software can detect individual differences in mental models to get everyone to a "shared" mental model. Scare quotes in original.

These people will not take rejection at the polls and the reality of terrorists as any impediment to their desire to squelch independent individuals in the US.

NK

Attkisson has reported extensively, and recently Jake Tapper has dipped a toe in the story, basicaly in order to exonerate Panetta. That's been it-- otherwise a complete media blackout of a hugely important and profitable story.

henry

rse, such collaboration is encouraged... especially when it generates more green for the collaborators. At some point we should talk offline about my niece's experience with Teach America.

SWarren

This tells you the reason for the administration's whole panic reaction and coverup:

http://leaksource.wordpress.com/2013/02/13/new-report-says-brennans-black-ops-in-libya-caused-benghazigate-stevens-death/

- Brennan using consulate annex running guns to Syria

- Petraeus affair exposed to get him out at CIA and put Brennan as Director.

- Hillary too unstable to remain at State

Huge coverup - but after all "what difference does it make now?"

peter

As is typical, Ayers is a liar. The bomb they were building in the basement of that Greenwich Village townhouse was to have been packed with roofing nails and to be set off at a Fort Dix noncom officers' dance.

NK

Peter-- that's a vital fact, and the reason why the Bros Tsar bombs were the technical and moral equivalents of Ayers' 'last bomb'. Ayers is a monster, AND and effin' liar.

Gus

NK!! In Rodhams case it would LIB-GENITAL lies.

Rob Crawford
Bill Ayers is claiming he only did property damage.

Is "property damage" slang for some sort of drug?

Or maybe he counts everyone who doesn't come from a multi-millionaire's family as a slave, and thus everyone they maimed and killed were just "property".

Rob Crawford

I'd settle for the donks being hamstrung for about a decade or however long it takes the party of stoopid to squander any advantage.

The hamstring is not the part I would cut on the Democrat party.

The tyrannical nature of this administration is nothing short of breathtaking.
And Big Sis is just following orders, making sure the Hoi Poloi have been rendered defenseless.
