Probably. This admin's squirrel deployment is top flight. I fall for it myself regularly.

NK

TomM-- I'm curious, why is the immigration bill 'absurd' in your opinion?

sbw

Somehow I don't think registering objections with our NY senators Schumer and Gillibrand is worth my time and effort.

NK

Sens. Gillibrand and Murphy in neighboringt-- 2 of the emptiest suits imaginable. I guess that's the result of Blue State Dem inbreeding. The third Tri State Sen? NJ? Senator Bob "Underage Prostitute and influence Peddler" Menendez, and the dead guys's replacement. What a crew.

NK

"...neighboring Ct."

Old Lurker

Try Mikulski & Cardin, SBW.

henry

NK, any 1000+ page bill should be considered absurd for length reasons alone. What the hell is in it? Do I now have to hire a certain percent of illegals as a diversity requirement? I understand the fnork wants immigration off the table for 2014 & beyond, but what exactly does this bill accomplish?

Gus

NK, tell me why the bill isn't absurd. Give it a shot.

bgates

My email to Senator Rubio (?-FL):

Stop lying to your constituents-at least the English-speaking ones. I'm assuming you consider us to be part of your constituency, though there is considerable evidence against that claim. We know you are not saying the same things to Univision that you're saying to us, and what's even worse than the knowledge that you're lying to somebody is the overwhelming suspicion that you're telling them the truth.

I want no part of the misery Latin America has voted itself into for a hundred years. That means I don't want a flood of new voters from Latin America. Spare me the "tough but fair" nonsense. Everyone who entered the country illegally has the same path to American citizenship as their countrymen who chose to respect our laws: apply to come here from their home countries. That's fair. Enforcing our laws would also mean inconvenience for people who have deliberately flouted them. That's tough.

If you succeed in being Chuck Schumer's willing dupe in this bill, you will have played a crucial role in fulfilling one of the most important goals of the Democratic Party : destroying the America your parents fled to a generation ago. The Democrats would not be able to do it without you. Should you provide that essential support, you will be rewarded as the Democrats have always rewarded amiable bipartisanship from Bob Dole to both Bushes to McCain to Romney, with a torrent of mockery and ridicule and unceasing unfair criticism (you young-earth water-drinking pretty boy) aimed at destroying your reputation forever. Without the support of the Republican voters you must betray to accomplish the Democrats' plans, you will be destroyed - and you will deserve it.

I'm not asking you to do the right thing for America, Senator Rubio. I don't know or care if that's a concern of yours. I'm asking you to do the right thing for yourself. The last time I was moved to repeatedly contact an elected representative was when Senator Martinez sponsored a similar effort a few years ago.

I should say "former Senator Martinez".

NK

Henry-- the 1000 pages is a fair reason for the 'absurd' characterization-- I was just curious as to the reason TomM considers it absurd.

NK

PS: I wouldn't call it absurd-- I'd call it sinister and evil. DC at its absolute worst-- Dem and Repub pols falling over themselves to screw their own respective constituents in order to enhance their own personal power by ramming this thing through. Sinister, evil... but unfortunately not absurd.

Nobody is 'listening to people's phone calls'

unless it involves salacious phone sex.

[US Soldier's 'Phone Sex' Intercepted, Shared

Faulk says he and others in his section of the NSA facility at Fort Gordon routinely shared salacious or tantalizing phone calls that had been intercepted, alerting office mates to certain time codes of "cuts" that were available on each operator's computer.

"Hey, check this out," Faulk says he would be told, "there's good phone sex or there's some pillow talk, pull up this call, it's really funny, go check it out. It would be some colonel making pillow talk and we would say, 'Wow, this was crazy'," Faulk told ABC News.

Faulk said he joined in to listen, and talk about it during breaks in Back Hall's "smoke pit," but ended up feeling badly about his actions.]

Senator Marco Rubio; latest recipient of the highest honor the DNC can award on any Republican, the Lucy Van Pelt Trophy.

daddy

Here's a blast from the past.

Brit Hume on Megyn Kelly was talking about NSA Head Clapper's lie to Ron Wyden during Testimony about the NSA not collecting data on Americans.

Brit then mentioned other Clapper gaffes I had forgotten; 1 being his statement a while back that "The Muslim Brotherhood is a largely Secular outfit.

I had forgotten that, but then Brit mentioned this one, about Clapper being unaware of a hugh terrorist arrest in London:

White House Admits Intel Chief Was Not Briefed on Britain Terror Arrests

Watching that last one immediately brought back to me his previous cluelessness. Yikes! When Dianne Sawyer is more on top of International Terrorism than our NSA Boss, it's a tad frightening.

Sorry if these have all been posted in the last few days and maybe I have just missed them.

Neo

The Republican plan is to split the Immigrant vote.

First, the march to citizenship starts with "legal status' but not citizenship. This is sort of a "modified green card". This also means that they can't vote.

The Second step is "border security". This is a La Manchan task (windmills included). The Democrats have never been strong on border security and hope to brush by it, but the law will require it before these folks can even hope to cast their first votes as Democrats.

Step three has current illegal immigrants going to the back of the line.

The Republican plan is to bunch them up after step 1 and blame the Democrats for not taking border security seriously. The hope is that this will dispell the immigrants notion that the Democrats want them, and not just their votes. Once they split the Immigrants from the Democrats, or at least enough of them, they could look to easing border security requirements and make Republicans look magnanimous.

Of course, this entire process works best if Republicans control both houses of Congress.

pagar

IMO, anyone who promotes this bill which does NOTHING to stop the invasion of America should be charged with treason. This bill simply rewards the invaders while trashing every America taxpayer/worker.
The day after this bill as written says will be the last day for an illegal to qualify for all the benefits this bill offers; the next millions of illegals will be crossing the unprotected border to get in line for the next bill to give them far more benefits than any American citizen receives.

Pope Francis has acknowledged the existence of a 'gay lobby' inside the Vatican's secretive administration for the first time.

Speaking during an audience with Latin American Catholics, the Argentine Pontiff said that there was a 'current of corruption' in the Roman Curia - the central governing body of the Catholic Church.

He also admitted the existence of a long-rumoured 'gay lobby' in the Curia, and hinted that he might take action over the issue.

Speaking in his native Spanish last Thursday, the 76-year-old told the CLAR (the Latin American and Caribbean Confederation of Religious Men and Women): 'In the Curia, there are truly some saints, but there is also a current of corruption.

Whatever Kaus writes, I predicted years ago that the rise of the TPers would make amnesty more likely. Their leaders support amnesty (in one form or other), they're easily distracted, and they have "other issues". The proof is in the pudding: it would have been easy to block DACA or the current amnesty push, yet that didn't happen. The Senate bill has proceeded largely unopposed.

In case anyone wants to do something effective, I've got various campaigns designed to discredit amnesty fans. Simply joining NumbersUSA and sending FAXes is necessary, but it probably won't be enough this time.

bgates,

I think your letter is working. Strong rumor that Rubio is pulling out of the gang of 8. He is really feeling the heat back home. I called DeSantis before going north and they tell me this Senate bill is DOA in the house.

NK

I am not as sanguine as Neo or JiB were or as fatalistic as Janet was. I assume (no way for me to know) that Senate Repubs are playing their game, and then the House will do what it needs to do for PR, politics and its base. Pass e-verify, pass techie visas, pass an ag worker visitor status, pass border security, resolve to give a path to citizenship AFTER Border and e-verify are working. The Senate Repubs will agree to the House Bill and ask Reid to open the Senate Bill for Amendment (hah!). But I have no idea what these repub cowars will actually do.

Fine job by Sherrod Portman on voting full steam ahead on immigration amnesty. Why doesn't he go on MessNBC and brag about this "evolution"?

narciso

Nothing could possibli go wrong, here;

Marlene

Howie Carr is discussing this now. In a later hour of his show yesterday,he interviewed Kelly Ayotte. I didn't hear that portion of the show. She has done a flip flop on the immigration issue. She was barraged by ads by the Bloomberg anti-gun group because of her gun vote and had relatives of Sandy Hook victims in her face at town hall meetings. She might have been burned by that experience, and decided to flip on immigration. Who knows?

Rob Crawford
had relatives of Sandy Hook victims in her face at town hall meetings

Did she ask them why their "mourning" has become a public spectacle?

Laura White

Well, Mickey is right (and since he is obviously the rara avis, the almost entirely honest broker, who is surprised?--he is handicapped only by filial obligations to the Democratic Party). I presume the House has this war-gamed, tho MK makes me nervous on this and other scores.

Daddy,

There's a very easy way to determine this. Today is the 11th. That's an odd number so we're rooting for the headchoppers opposing Erdogan/Assad/Morsi/Zeidan. On even days we root for the headchoppers supporting Zeidan/Morsi/Assad/Erdogan.

Every day we root for an abundance of ordinance for both sides and send warm wishes to all followers of the Pedophile that they find the strength to continue to slaughter, rape and loot just as He did.

Do you know Acadia National Park? Reason I am asking is that Mrs. JiB has a photographer associate she has done studio work with that does small lab sessions there photographing the Puffins. I want to do Nova Scotia especially Cape Breton Island since my maternal grandmother was from there - Lake Ainsley. She had immigrated from Ireland and landed there with her family. Plus there are some great golf courses around there. Then we can take the ferry over to Newfoundland where I spent 4 of my very junior years while my Dad was in the Air Force.

So, that would be another all-American road trip up to Maine, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and then Newfoundland. Thanks for reminding me that I need to make that a bucket list item.

On Tuesday, Nicholas Merrill, a spokesman for Hillary Clinton, said Clinton was completely unaware of any of the investigations mentioned in the Office of the Inspector General's reports and memos, including the case involving her personal security detail allegedly soliciting prostitutes.

Yes Jack,a trip to Acadia is a must! You could continue from the coast of Maine to the Maritimes. The way the bill they are voting on allows the invaders to take over the USA I'm surprised that they haven't added that all our government business must be conducted in Spanish.

jib--I would also urge you to take Frederick to ST Johns, NB to see the Reversing Falls (must stay overnight to see both directions) and St Andrews where the whales surface by the boat and we saw far more bald eagles than Alaska. And my son was about Frederick's age and still remembers the sea lions that were right by where they kayaked to. And to actually see the tides move at Fundy is a treat for kids who grew up by the beach but not where the tide change was so visible.

One of my kids very favorite trips. And walking around on what had been a submerged sea floor and then later seeing it submerged is quite the treat. We stayed at a B&B/inn that also did horse rehab and would take the horses swimming in the lake.

The comments by Hillary's spokesman are ludicrous. However cheryl Mills is up to her teeth in this one as is Kennedy. Both of them will probably be sacrificed to protect Hillary. Of course she knew. Am listening to the Howie Carr interview yesterday of Kelly Ayote on her support of the Immigration Bill. Thanks whoever linked it.

There is so much delusional nonsense coming out of her mouth it is frightening; SEN. KELLY AYOTTE (R-NH) ON IMMIGRATION REFORM BILL SUPPORT

Just at random, this for instance.

Ayotte: Howie, Let me just make clear, that under this bill if you're not here before December 30th of 2011, then you cannot qualify for any type of Legal Status..."

How the hell are we going to determine that for 11 plus million folks?

Are they going to be honest? Why the hell would they be honest?

And if they are honest, then every illegal who has arrived since December, 2011 is in the exact same boat we're in now. How the hell many illegals have arrived since dec 2011?

This is crazy. Anyone who believes this Bill will do what this bill purports to do needs to go to an insane asylum for a mental exam.

Pagar,

What's new about that? Boehner has said the House will chop the Senate bill into chunks and, as I noted above, Goodlatte and Gowdy have moved the first chunk, granting interior enforcement rights to locals among other things, to the floor for debate and passage. The House will probably pass the SAFE Act before the Senate passes the omnibus BS.

Rick, the House may pass the Safe Act but IMO, the Senate never will. IMO,The President wouldn't sign if it was sent to him and DHS would never enforce it. The Democrats have no intention of making America safe by keeping out illegals, IMO.

The Speaker assured everyone the House would pass something the President could sign before the end of the year. He's just as willing to work with the President and Democrats as he was when dealing with the sequester and I fully anticipate the results of his bipartisan effort to be of a similar nature. The most important aspect in all this is to maintain the appearance of willingness to cooperate.
