There's no joy in Mudville.

Heh, Obama foul tips it into the catcher's mitt.

Jack is Back!

You never miss an opportunity, do you, Maguire:) BTW, is the Red Sox losing streak over yet?

middyfeek

We will have to be content with the knowledge that that particular first baseman will never ever live it down.

Dave (in MA)

The Sox have 3 times as many World Series championships in this century as the vaunted pinstripers. Bringing up Mookie's little roller at this point is not unlike Blame Bush.

NK(withnewsoftware)

DaveMa... you tell him bud. You may also want to remind Maguire about the current stellar 1B play that over the cap team is getting: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/lincoln-mitchell/now-playing-first-base-fo_b_5166594.html

henry

More like he struck out in t-ball.

Danube on iPad

"...behind the bag!"

jimmyk

Along the same lines, does anyone seriously believe the JEF ever played football?

(H/T Iowahawk)

James D.

All I have to say to about the baseball comments is that, even if the current rate continues, where the loathsome Red Sox win three titles every ten years, while the greatest franchise in the history of professional sports only wins one, it will be 95 years before Boston catches up with the Yankees.

And I wouldn't count on Boston's little lucky streak continuing. They had some paltry success in the first two decades of the 20th century, too, with 4 titles between 1903 and 1918. And then order was restored, and they didn't win again for 86 years. So there's something to look forward to.

That's data right there. Facts. It's almost like SETTLED SCIENCE. Nobody can argue with SETTLED SCIENCE!

NK(withnewsoftware)

I didn't open JimmyK's link. Obummer claims he played 'football'? as in the NFL/NCAA American 'football' Seriously? Even Obummer can't believe that. Someone cue the video of Obummer at the Judo demonstration. Football concussions? What a joke this pitiful character is.

jimmyk

James D, you have to admit the last 100 95 years look like a hockey stick for the Red Sox. So by the methods of Dr. Mann, the Sox will pass the Yankees with 97% certainty. (Incidentally, I have no dog in this fight.)

jimmyk

NK, as @iowahawkblog put it:

"President suffered a concussion so severe that he remembers playing football."

Miss Marple

High school football is what he claimed.

I say, produce the UNPHOTOSHOPED pictures from the yearbook, or it never happened.

Or, he could just come out in the rose garden and throw the football a bit. I am sure he has a great arm.

(Insert rolling eyes icon here.)

Threadkiller

Somebody on Limbaugh suggested that Obama just read in the news that he played football.

He found out just like the rest of us.

If his skull had as many layers as his purported birth cert, he may have been spared the head trauma.

Speaking of which:

MissM-- oddly, Obummer throws a football much better than a baseball.

NK(withnewsoftware)

Thanks JimmyK-- the great IowaHawk.

Miss Marple

That scar has bothered me for a long time. He has his picture taken so that it isn't visible. I have seen photos from foreign news services where it is quite visible.

I noticed it during the first campaign. The reason I noticed it because my mother had a huge meningioma (benign brain tumor) removed in 1980, and her scar looked just like that.

What is striking to me is that no one has ever asked him about it, or at least if they did they were told not to ask again.

If he was hurt in an accident or something one would think it would have been something he would have mentioned in his book, or a casual remark like "yes, got hurt in a bike accident."

But nothing is ever said. Which is pretty creepy, if you ask me.

Wait wait wait.

Obama's a GREAT passer!

Miss Marple

AND do we see a photo of him on the team? Nope.

So I am not believing even the 8th grade position.

However, his quote sounded like high school, so Iam going to go look. Maybe I misunderstood.

narciso

Well in their defense, those teams are attempting a worthwhile endeavor, otoh;

http://legalinsurrection.com/2014/05/how-anxious-is-obama-to-make-a-deal-with-iran/

NK(withnewsoftware)

Thanks TK-- was 8th grade flag football back in the day, or helmet tackle?

PS: what do you know about the skull 'scar'?

Jack is Back!

The only concussion Obama ever suffered was from banging his head too hard on the floor during mid-day (Asr) prayers.

One of our sights today, in Brussels, was to walk by one of most famous taverns in all of Europe, Á La Mort Subite (or Sudden Death) which is named after a famous Belgian beer. Once inside you sit at communal tables and can order over 100 Belgian beers, a lot of them in draft but mostly by bottle. CH and others would call it heaven after a night out there.

Eric in Boise

Inspired, Hit.

NK(withnewsoftware)

JiB-- have you ever tasted Calvados brandy?

NK(withnewsoftware)

OK I see TK has covered the scar business.

Miss Marple

TK, Well, that's certainly a theory.

I will simply stick to at my original question, though. Where did he get the scar and why isn't it ever mentioned?

If the press cannot answer, then we can begin speculation.

Miss Marple

Australians have concluded the pings were from another source and the missing plane did NOT crash in the Indian Ocean.

narciso

Well Occam's razor points in a more obvious direction;

Cleary, MM, the scar came from the shattered glass of a Xerox 7655 Workcenter.

Yes, that would seem reasonable, that trajectory didn't make sense to me, I figure it landed on one of the Maldives, and then went Northwest, which was the original path. the scenario that JiB brought us, seems likely

Bori

Obama once struck out in three consecutive at bats, and the scorekeeper was fired for being racist.

The pitcher was suspended indefinitely and sent to re-education camp, and the bat was found to be defective. At least that was how it voxplained.

Jack is Back!

NK,

Short answer to Calvados is yes. I still have two bottles I brought back from Normandy in 2009. Wonderful digestif.

If Obama played for Punahou on those basketball teams then he was a permanent benchwarmer or the other teams were awful and even he could score on them. The man has the coordination and reflexes of a guy high on choom.

NK(withnewsoftware)

JiB-- the 80 Proof Calvados I tasted was... shattering. Had no idea.

nk-how posh is New Canaan Day School?

I recognize the other privates pushing to redo the criteria of who gets accepted away from it being about intellectual ability. The others all seem to be premier schools in the area that can then force all the rest of the area privates to follow suit.

Miss Marple

Interestingly, Beasts, the Polar Vortex exempted Canada and they had positive growth.

So from this we can conclude that the Vortex exempted the Great White North, concentrating instead on the United States, headed by a black man, and therefore the Polar Vortex was racist.

Extraneus

this speech was a dribbler into the glove of the first baseman.

Wasn't he pitching?

narciso,

De Standaard for Flemish (Dutch) regional and Federal matters (as it relates to the Flemish region). But the largest Dutch language paper in Belgium is Het Laatste Nieuws and also Het Nieuwsblad. My nephew used to work for Gazet van Antwerpen which is more local.

For the French, the largest paper is Sud Presse but L'aAvenir and Le Soir are also big circulations.

For the real story is the the financial times and WSJ of Belgium "De Tijd" which all the movers and shakers in commerce read religiously.

narciso

Von Rompuy, is an exceptional idiot, I'm sure Farage will be up to the task, of slattering him.

Beasts of England

I'm so happy that Teh JEF is focusing on concussions. Truly, I am. When I woke up this morning, it's the first topic that leaped into my pointy little head. What a relief. Think I'll take the rest of the day off. Forward!

Some Guy

Along the same lines, does anyone seriously believe the JEF ever played football?

I believe President Momjeans could easily sustain a concussion from just watching a football game.

Beasts of England

lol, Miss Marple! Poor BHO just can't catch a break - even the weather is against him!

NK(withnewsoftware)

New Canaan Day is quite posh. A friend is on the Board there. I believe AmeriCares and NCCD share a couple of Board members. Maguire travels in those .1% circles, he can better opine on NCCD school.

Danube on iPad

"a machine designed to duplicate cannot duplicate the same results"

No one has ever attempted to duplicate them on that machine.

TK has acknowledged many times that the presence of apparent "layers" on a scanned pdf is of no significance at all.

Miss Marple

Beasts, BHO has had enough breaks for a lifetime.

I wish him to be shown to be the absolute worst, most loser-like, incompetent president ever.

I am never again going to give a democrat the benefit of the doubt.

Even blood relatives.

Boehner: I will continue to reserve judgment on Shinseki for some reason

Three weeks ago he said he wasn’t ready to call for Shinseki’s firing. Last week he said he was getting closer — but still not ready. Today, after that brutal IG report sent Democrats scurrying on the Hill, he’s finally … still not ready.

What am I missing here?

I think it's smart. If Shinseki resigns or gets fired, the whole thing will be diffused. The longer he stays in, the better.

Wanna know how bad and uncoordinated an athlete Obama is? The WaPo has had to resort to hours of research and chart drafting to prove that when 50cent threw out the first pitch it was worse than Barry's. Actually, Michael Jordans is pretty close to the rappers.

Note where W's pitch was and that was after the traumatic events of 911. Even Clenis was pretty good considering it was Hillary in makeup who threw it.

Link

The media sucks because that is what they do best.

narciso

No. that wasn't why I complained, firing Shinseki is the first step, the selection of a capable executive (i'm being hypothetical) a series of goals and benchmarks need to be reviewed every six months,

Danube on iPad

That first pitch by W gave me goosebumps. Talk about rising to the occasion.

Jack is Back!

narciso,

This is in essence the problem with the EU: Put Belgian politicians in charge. They come from the most dysfuncitonal political government in the world. They are split by language, class, ethics and culture. They agree on nothing.

As a result, the permanent professional bureaucrats run the country. They take old laws and write new regs. Ipso facto: New Laws.

Everything is done by the civil servants. The pols are so split they can't even agree to pass laws to reign in the bureaucrats and the bureaucrats know that and jus pass more regs that update the old regs and laws.

The EU is the same way. Elect dysfunctional pols so the bureaucrats have no fear of political discipline.

BTW, with the ineffectiveness of Congress and a POTUS with no idea of leadership we are becoming a country of bureaucratic leadership.

BTW, driving into Centrum Buxelles you can see all the new buildings being built to house the growing EU bureaucracy. Its gowing like Kudzu here.

Captain Hate

Does Boehner just work to tick us off, or does it come naturally to him,

Yes.

Regarding the "scar" on the JEF's melon, I think that a lot of blacks, because of skin tones and the way the light hits it, sometime have more visually pronounced lines between the skull plates which grow together in the very early years.

Captain Hate

Even Clenis was pretty good considering it was Hillary in makeup who threw it.

I hear Rodham has a lot of experience throwing lamps.

Miss Marple

Captain Hate, do you have any examples of this?

Also, those do not look like skull plate seams to me.

Compare and contrast: West Point cadets receiving Bush and Obama. Absolutely lovely.

Jane

Hey! That Bill Buckner reference is just low!

narciso

I think it comes off the same in French with Hollandaise, Greek with Samaras, English with Cameron, Merkel has reasonably solid view, even though the no nuke and anti fracking, drop the curve.

NK(withnewsoftware)

DoT-- plus GWB threw out that first pitch with Kevlar on. It was an amazing feat of discipline and will.

Beasts of England

You are correct, DoT. Not claiming that I would have survived four years at a service academy, but I'm certain that I'd have lasted a few more days than our CiC. And I'm glad my Dad wasn't alive to see that fraud address his alma mater.

Jane

I see Dave took care of the Buckner transgression.

So what did Carney say about the treason of outing our CIA chief in Afghanistan?

Captain Hate

Miss Marple, every time I looked at Shawn Kemp, it looked like he had ridges on his dome. I can't think of the names of any other examples.

The problem I have with it being a scar is that it isn't apparent on every occasion. Not that he hasn't been sketchy and evasive about every aspect of his life, as TK regularly notices...

Captain Hate

I wish to transfer every negative reference to Bill Buckner to those arson squad relievers Schiraldi and Stanley. Those bums deserve the blame for pitching batting practice to the Mutts, allowing them to overcome what should have been a safe lead.

Jack is Back!

DoT,

With full body armor, no less Hard to believe, listening to Joe Buck, that no POTUS had ever visited Yankee Stadium during a WS.

Then by contrast we have this ManChild

This was his second time, I believe. You'd think his handlers would have known by now that he throws like a girl from Punahou?

Beasts of England

Thanks for the GWB link, JiB. Great memories of a real man and a real leader. Sadly, that video made me hate BHO with an even greater vengeance.

narciso

So the post is using Vox's crummy software to try to rationalize the pitiful throw,

Unfortunately, this stupid explanation of weather being the cause of the downturn, even makes it across the pond, none of his policies are ever at fault.

Jack is Back!

DoT,

The only cringe moment in the vid of W at WP was his mention of Petraeus but back then who knew? And it is true he wrote the book on Coin. But the difference between the two's approach, subject matter, personality and comfort zone is so wide you could say one was on Mars and the other on Earth.

We really, truly screw the pooch electing this jerk.

narciso

But the Miguelito Lovelace press, has until now
slobbered over one, and slattered the other, they share a mutual category error with Zaphod, whereas
W, the Hammer, the Huntress, might as well have antenna growing out from their heads.

Some Guy

You'd think his handlers would have known by now that he throws like a girl from Punahou?

Don't insult the Punahou girls.

He wishes.

Rush reminded us, that Maverick slobbered all over Shinseki like a prom date, I apologize for the image,

As with Soufan, or whichever truthteller is being touted, he's usually full of unicorn leavings,

Peter Boyer (the last good hire on Ailes part) in the New Yorker, back around 1999, showed how shallow a choice he was for Chief of Staff, mostly because the rank and file, couldn't stand
'Ashley Wilkes' Rush's nic for Wesley Clark

daddy

Just awoke and haven't done any catch-up, but the first story I saw on FOX was the blonde lady who took over Megyn's old time slot saying there is now an E-mail apparently from Snowden, showing that he tried to go thru proper channels to blow the whistle back before he went on the run. She then said that Jay Carney said Snowden did not go far enough thru the proper channels to blow the whistle.

I cannot find any more about it, but I know Carney is a total liar, so I am back into the camp of being undecided on Snowden all over again until we get some real honest facts of what he was doing and when and where and what is in these e-mails.

Snowden strikes me personally as an exceptionally pompous dick, but unfortunately so does everybody else in the Administration.

Anyone have any more info on the blurb I heard?

lyle

And I have BHO fatigue as it is. I guess I just want to forget about his sorry ass as soon as possible.

I hear you, pal. But we've--sadly--got ~2.5 years of Prez Pussy ahead of us.

daddy

Miss Marple posted this 2 threads back and it is brilliant! So I'm posting it again.

I would like to see an ad where they show how $100 of tax money is divided. People think their tax money is going to defense and such.

You could have someone with $100 in $1 bills. And have a whole lot of people lined up.

First you would have a Chinese guy who would take a big chunk for loan interest. Then you could have some suitably annoying layabouts who grab entitlement money. Then EPA creeps and education grifters and the like.

You could finally get to the nice young military man and had him some pocket change.

Threadkiller

TK has acknowledged many times that the presence of apparent "layers" on a scanned pdf is of no significance at all.

How can anyone make sense out of this?

Keeping Arpaio busy, I guess.

Some Guy

I hear you, pal. But we've--sadly--got ~2.5 years of Prez Pussy ahead of us.

No. He's even more classless and narcissistic than Jimmy Carter (if that's possible).

He will never go away.

daddy

Here's that Snowden thing that I heard bits and pieces of.

It's reported by TIME Magazine, so I'm taking it all with a grain of salt. NSA Releases Email Snowden Sent Before Leaks

The National Security Agency released an email Thursday from Edward Snowden to its Office of General Counsel, acknowledging for the first time that the former contractor had contacted officials within the agency before leaking information about widespread surveillance activities.

T'is a shame that the reality is that I don't trust anybody in this case---not Snowden, not TIME Magazine, and definitely not Carney and the Administration. Oh well...

daddy

I wish I was Frederick:)

Miss Marple

daddy, Thanks for reporting my idea.

Old Lurker said we should start first with the taxing, showing a bunch of people not paying anything and getting waved thru, then the last few people have to hand over sacks of money. Then show the spending thing. (The people who get waved through with no taxes should be standing with their hands out in the entitlement group.)

Jane

Pagar,

It screams "IMPEACHMENT".

daddy

does anyone seriously believe the JEF ever played football?

Well obviously the Coach benched him because Obama played "Black Football" and the Coach wanted to play "White Football."

Miss Marple

Now I am heading out to an auction, so any big news this evening I will miss.

Take good notes, everyone!

Threadkiller

You could call it "Julia's Inferno", MM.

hit and run

For those comparing Obama's first pitch to throwing like a girl . . . here's your video of same.

Rick B

Hit,

Bad link.

James D.

I still don't know what to think about Snowden.

I suspect that daddy @ 4:12 is right: everyone involved is ultimately a bad guy.

Snowden was a self-important jackass who (best case) imagined himself as the hero of a Robert Ludlum novel, or (more likely) wanted to cash in, monetarily or otherwise.

The government was and is lying about survaillance, and far overreaching both the law and any reasonable purpose for what it was doing.

The press was utterly dishonest and irresponsible.

And at the end of the day, the bad guys all won.

Snowden is (relatively) free.

The press sold lots of papers and ad space based on the stories, and got to pat itself on the back for pretending to stand up for the Constitution.

The government, despite all the talk of "Reforms" is almost certainly still doing everything it was doing before, and not a single person lost their job or even was reprimanded for anything to do with Snowden or his theft or documents and subsequent escape, or the illegal and unconstitutional activities they were up to in the first place.

The only losers are...us. We continue to be spied upon, lied to about it, and we get to pay the salaries of loathsome and dishonest people, from the Commander in Chief on down, for the privilege.

MarkO

I remember the earlier days of white footballs with black rings used for night games. Colleges used them and I had one.

Anyone else, or am I having a flashback?
