Meanwhile in the Socialist Utopia we find that not everything is fresh white peaches and cream:

Caracas (AFP) - Water use in Caracas will be rationed for at least four months due to drought, authorities said Tuesday, as Venezuela grapples with shortages of basic goods which have spurred massive anti-government protests.

"We made a special water supply plan that will be released so that our people know the days they will have continuous service, night service and no service," Environment Minister Miguel Leonardo Rodriguez told reporters.

One in every four goods including basic food, hygiene products, medicine and auto parts, however, have already become difficult to find, resulting in long, lengthy lines.

The shortages, rampant crime, inflation and other economic woes have resulted in more than two months of anti-government unrest which has left 41 people dead and more than 700 injured.

Rodriguez said that one of the three reservoirs that supply the Caracas valley with water was below minimum capacity and was closed.

The water supply to the capital and its suburbs, home to five million people, has fallen by 13 percent from 19,500 liters per second to 17,000.

"We hope that (the rationing) will end at the end of August or mid-September" Rodriguez said, placing its termination at an undefined date that depends on how the country's upcoming rainy season goes.

Probably should just tax water usage.

Why is pepper banned from some ballparks?
It made too many people sneeze into their nachos and spill cheese sauce on the seat in front of them. Then the team got the laundry bill. It was just an insurance thing. I just hope they never ban salt. I'll be pissed.

I once read that Ruth beat Walter Johnson 1-0 six separate times. Seems so unlikelt I'll see what I can find.

All I could find was that Ruth beat Johnson six times in eight head-to-head meetings. No info on whether he took the loss in the other two.

I remember where I was when I got the news about Score's injury. It was a major blow to the Indians, whose four-man rotation was Score, Early Wynn, Mike Garcia and Bob Lemon.

This diet thing has me flat-out angry. Look at all the fat kids who are eating those stupid lunches Michelle is pushing.

My grandmother was a size 12 until she lost weight the year before her death at age 82. She just ate normal stuff, no dieting or anything.

I was a size 10-12 until I decided I needed to lose a few pounds in my 50's. I have followed the low fat high carb diet due to doctor's suggestions and have struggled with my weight since then.

I am going back to a normal 1950's diet, which is how I ate until I was 50.

MM, left a comment for you on the last post.

Beasts, the golf tournament is next weekend - the 16th, 17th and 18th , if you are still interested. We are heading to Island View on Thursday the 15th and will have a room there and I think we are gonna have a room at the Golden Nugget on Friday and Saturday, - they are supposed to be matching my comps at Island View. I'm hoping they also match my free play $$. ;) The golf tournament is sponsored by the GN and it is newly renovated and really awesome. Bubba Gumps and a Morton's!

If you are still interested, I can scan and email the tourney info to you. It's $275 to play in the tourney plus hotel and whatever $$ you want to play with. There is a pairing party on Friday night at the GN (open bar and food) and the play starts Saturday at 8:00 - shotgun start.

My only criticism is the backdrop of the GOP "leaders" emoting and reacting for camera effect. I suspect Trey did not have control over that situation.

I hate it when Schumer and the dems do it, and it isn't any better when the GOP mimics.

Good Morning.

Watching CNN International.

The host is really dumping on Monica Lewinsky and is calling her another V Stiviano, and is very snarky towards her, basically smearing her and questioning if she is trying to harm Hillary's political chances.

Surprisingly the 2 panelists, Mark Lamont Hill(?) and an African American woman, are both somewhat in her camp in saying that she has been treated unfairly and that Bill and Hillary deserve scrutiny and questions themselves.

It strikes me that MonicaGate 2, "The return of the Lewinski" is an opportunity for Lefty anti-Hillary folks to go in depth into the subject in order to cut Hillary's cankles out from under her politically, whereas it is also an opportunity for pro-Hilary Lefties to earn their pro-Clinton Merit badges.

All in all it's interesting how happy the Press is to talk about Monica now whereas for 3 months back before Drudge's Blue Dress revelation they said nothing.

Now I see they are running tape of Hillary Clinton doing a message to Nigeria about the kidnapped and raped schoolgirls. I suppose that means that CNN is in the Pro-Hillary camp.

At the end of the 1934 baseball season Babe Ruth announced, "I am definitely through has a regular player". He wanted to retire as a player and manage the Yankees. Unable to realize his ambition, he took his wife and step-daughter on a barnstorming tour of Japan with other American League all-star players. After a successful playing tour, the Ruth family enjoyed a holiday in Paris (where Ruth was disappointed to find himself unrecognized) and London, during which he marked his 40th birthda. And it was in London in February 1935 that he famously tried cricket. [Full disclosure: He was outfitted for this experiment by my families business].

Ruth was openly dismissive of the low salaries paid to English sportsment, but open-minded about the games themselves. [He should see the same salaries today except for the elite football players]. He enjoyed a particulary 'lusty lesson' with the Australian former test cricketer Alan Fairfax in the indoor batting nets under Thames House in London. He first attempted the unfamiliar cricket batting stance before reverting to the more comfortable baseball postur, all the while smashing the offerings of two fast bowlers. "Sure I could smack that [ball] all right - how could I help it when you have a great wide board to swing?" he eagerly told reporters afterwards. At the end of the session, wkth his bat in 'deplorable state' he declared cricket to be 'a better game than I thought but I think I will stick to baseball'.

Pleased to read the praise for Gowdy. He appears to be a no-bullshit kinda guy. And, even ignoring the alleged death threats he may have already received, I hope he prepares for something twice as difficult as anything he has ever encountered, while realizing that even those preparations will leave him too exposed by half.

I'd say there is a one-in-five chance that he'll earn an entry into the history books. I'd also say there's a one-in-fifty chance that his name could be synonymous for the conservative Phoenix.

An OT "while you were sleeping story".

Last night, came into Inchon International airport in Korea from Beijing. A line of weather was just passing over the field so winds were shifting and they reversed the landing Runway, so everybody airborne was scrambling a bit to get reoriented and set up for the new runway.

Had the windshield wipers going as it was raining, and at about 1,000 feet on final approach got an immediate steep increase in airspeed and a "Headwind Shear" warning. Cobbed the power to start a go around and now the wind had a dramatic reduction and became the more challenging "Tailwind Shear" warning. Anyhow, got her climbing and then at about 2,000 feet on the way up got the biggest lightening strike I've ever had---"KABOOM!"

Quite startling, massive blinding light in the cockpit like a camera flash going off, followed by a couple immediate expletives, but no big deal since we were heading in the right direction (away from the ground) and then we got back in the stack and were told we were number 11 in line.

Eventually the storm passed, and we got it on deck safe, and after the mandatory paperwork for the Lightning strike and the Wind Shear, got into the cab for the real hair raiser, the hour long ride to Seoul in heavy rain.

Naturally many beers were consumed later in the hotel lounge by the parties concerned:)

Beasts,

I can't think of any permanent State personnel who would be willing to play the McDougal's part for Hillary. Neither Red Witch nor Bubba have sufficient actual clout to cover the Benghazi mess and the Clintonheimer excuse would be enough to destroy her candidacy even without the State provided road map and tour guide which I'm willing to bet Gowdy has in his pocket.

There is no reason for Gowdy to finish up business until Clinton completely withdraws as a candidate.

Wretchard (Richard Fernandez), tells us that some of the weapons used by the kdnapping Boko Haram Islamic nutcases in Nigeria, came from Libya!

The other little known fact is that the Boko Haram is at least partly armed with weapons from Libya, and that fact drags in even more unwelcome background. Two years ago the UN warned that weapons looted from Khadaffy’s arsenals were being used by Islamic militant groups all over Africa to spread terror far and wide.

(Reuters) – The Libyan civil war may have given militant groups in Africa’s Sahel region like Boko Haram and al Qaeda access to large weapons caches, according to a U.N. report released on Thursday.
