I agree with MM on the previous thread....O is either going to photoshop himself in the ring with Ali or concoct some long-winded story of how HE felt the first time HE saw/met him or what HE thinks about his legacy or something but make no mistake - there will be the capital H capital E prominently on display. After poking around to find out what Mooch actually said I think I'm going to give her a pass on this one;

"It’s the story that I witness every single day,” the first lady said, “when I wake up in a house that was built by slaves, and I watch my daughters — two beautiful black young women — head off to school, waving goodbye to their father, the president of the United States.”

Mrs. Obama went on to remind the graduates that while the founding fathers might not have imagined the day when a black man could be president, “all of you are very much the fruits of their vision.”

“Their legacy is very much your legacy. And your inheritance. And don’t let anybody tell you differently. You are the living, breathing proof that the American dream endures in our time. It’s you.”

Would that her worthless husband ever say anything similar.

In what kind of country is it not a disqualifying political one?

Theo

Ignatz --

The same country that gave Billy Jeff a pass for diddling an intern and blatantly lying about it, including under oath.

You are right that the email thing is essentially political and not legal. It hurts Rodham politically but it is not as fatal to her as you or I would like because the country just doesn't care that much and cannot be made to care by all of our yammering about it. They (more or less) get that she went to extraordinary and perhaps illegal and certainly irresponsible lengths to protect her emails from FOIA review and they mostly shrug and say "yeah, she's like that, we know it" and move on.

The people like you and me who despise her get all worked up about it, but so far that has not been the attitude of the great multitudes of voters.

JMHanes

I'd slap you Ignatz, but you'd havet to spend the another hour or two reading my TOS and signing the release forms -- unless, of course, you're in Yes Means Yes legal territory, which would put us both in legal jeopardy.

JMHanes

Theo:

The real irony, I think, is that there are plenty of people who are just dying to slash and burn the Clintons, but they're not going to do it while there's still a chance she might make it to the White House.

Theo

JMH --

Good point. But I was not thinking about the types of people who would have something personal to gain (or fear) if she were president, just the real people who will decide the election.

Of course it would help a lot if the media would do about half the shouting about this if she were a Republican candidate, but the AP and the Washington Post and PolitiFact have all pointed out that she made false statements on this issue. I think on some level the public knows that she acted badly and for selfish reasons (just as they knew the same about Billy Jeff). They do not like her near as much as they liked her husband, but they do not see this one incident as disqualifying.

An indictment (hint: do not hold your breath) would change the landscape, but I saw a poll where most Americans and an overwhelming percentage of Democrats would want her to keep running even if she were indicted.

Ignatz asked the right question: What kind of country is this? One that does not share our outrage over her emails appears to be the answer.

Captain Hate on the iPhone

The MFM hasn't spent the effort framing the security impact of Rodham's emails like they did for file clerk Plame, nor given any hypotheses of why it was done. For someone getting their info solely through the Amazon Daily Worker, it's like a jaywalking violation.

Passing like a ship in the night as my family and I drive out to Montauk hello Jack and Frederick!

Theo

CH --

You are of course right. The media is just horrible. If they did not have double standards they would have no standards at all.

To me, the issue is not the security impact, but why it was done. It was done so that she could evade the law on disclosures. Yes, I understand that being a public servant involves an annoying loss of privacy and brings on unwanted scrutiny and that this can be taken to unreasonable lengths. But to live outside the law you must be honest (or very very entitled).

I think that the public knows that she is not honest. The question is how much do they care?

Had a little bit of time after I dropped some stuff off at Goodwill so went through a neighborhood in my price range, mostly working class homes. It could have been here, but I read somewhere in the last week or so that it wasn't so much that she could evade the law of disclosures but the Obama Admin had forbidden her from close links to Sidney Blumenthal and denied her wish to have him on staff.

This effort allowed her -- among other allowances, of course -- to circumvent those specific directives re Blumenthal.

Even if untrue as a primary reason, what is it about Blumenthal that keeps her so closely yoked to him?

Another reason I've doubted that Rodham will be indicted is that it would be an entry point for just what a disaster foreign policy and intelligence have been under King Zippy. The number of burned human intelligence assets has been huge, domestic and foreign, under those big mouthed clowns, to which the MFM has shown not one iota of interest; and as always, don't get me started on the "opposition party" stumblebums.

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

I find a good deal of what's wrong with America in that picture of Ali and in Ali himself.
A complete lack of class and grace as his vanquished opponent lays helpless beneath him and he taunts and ridicules him for his own glorification.
He had no valid legal reason to be a conscientious objector and it was only overturned on a technicality so some poor dumb sap got to go to war in his place, which lets face it was at least half of the anti war movement; the other half being New Left Marxists.
He was a nation of islam stooge for years.

To his credit he settled down and became a good citizen, but the years he is famous for were as a loud mouthed counter culture moron. Most of the things Dems condemn Trump for they celebrate in Ali.

Porchlight

Porch, going back to your friends who favored protest violence.

sbw, thanks. I should have been more clear earlier. They definitely do not condone the violence. What they argued was more like "yes, the violence is terrible, but let's face it, there's plenty of blame to go around, because he's so odious and says such inflammatory things." It was a false equivalence, much like the MSM do whenever they're forced to report on the left's bad actors.

These folks hate Hillary and won't vote for her. I suspect they won't vote at all for the top of the ticket, and in TX it doesn't matter anyway. But this sort of moral preening makes it easier for her to win, and for the left to suppress speech.
