Paul Rahe has an excellent summary of my own view of the Trump/Clinton dilemma. His gist - Clinton is far more likely to fundamentally undermine certain pillars of our democracy. Obama, for example, began the weaponization of the IRS; Hillary will surely expand that so we have an FBI that only investigates Republicans. And she will get a Supreme Court justice likely to embrace Democratic notions favoring the restriction of "hate speech" regardless of the free speech concept we thought we grew up with.
Trump, on the other hand, will rattle the many alliances and understandings holding together a world order already under tremendous strain from the Obama Withdrawal.
So on balance, which of these two looming disasters is more survivable and, if we survive, more correctable? Mr. Rahe favors Trump but is willing to admit that thoughtful people may come to different conclusions.
