Let the press and left fixate on the wall while everything else passes -- essentially nuking their log trail from orbit by drying up funds to NGOs and govt unions.

Then the wall and immigration can be done in their impotent faces.

Captain Hate

Has he hit the golf course yet?

what Trump is not doing is troubling

Goodness, I’d be still trying to find the light switch.

cheerleader

Sean Spicer answered a question yesterday about what he is doing about the wall, and there is a LOT of necessary steps/activity going on in the background necessary steps. He listed what is going on, if you care to listen to the press conference.

Jack is Back!

Its always interesting to watch the Democratic Senators questioning Tom Price and are surprised he is intelligent, unapologetic and resolute in his determination to get rid of ACA. Too bad he's not a psychiatrist, he could offer his services to them pro-bono.

cheerleader

Sorry for the mistake in grammar.

"there is a LOT of necessary steps/activity going on in the background necessary steps"

I guess I wanted to emphasize "necessary steps".

It is at the stage where things are going on that are not seen, like a plant germinating before it sprouts into visibility.

cheerleader

Criticism 101:

He didn't say he was going to do everything on his agenda the first day, or the first week, or the first month.

He set an agenda of a hundred days. The time to pass judgement on what he is or is not doing will be Day 101.

cheerleader

What is really troubling is the premature criticism.

Jack is Back!

In re: The Wall.

My estimate based on my 35+ years in mega-project construction.

For what I understand he wants, wall + fence + policed intrusion deterrent, It will take at least 6 months for planning, design and permitting on a fast-track basis and that avoids all the environmental and SJW lawsuits or intervention.

From that point on, you can further fast-track the procurement and construction using modularity and multi-area installation construction. Looking at the map, by ganging it, I would estimate 4 year completion schedule. It will be a mega-project in the $5-7 billion range if not more depending on restrictions and interference on the scale of nuclear power plants.

The idiots in the press who think you can do this like the Wollman Ice Rink are naive as hell and couldn't work in the mail room of my old firm.

buccaneer morgan

Just a day in y, cheerleader, Spanish outlets were running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

So as you see Kev, us administrations have been frustrating my paisans going back to 1849!

Trump is mixing public splashes into the pool with careful synchronized swimming (except in the case of prepaid health care, where he promulgated a minimize the financial impact order before an overall solution was worked out (although even in this case, his order will most likely be administered in a manner consistent with what ultimately passes in Congress)).

Trump is acting like a POTUS focused on implementing his campaign promises within the context on a big country with a multiplicity of views on issues. I have been really impressed so far with La Grande Orange Magnat.

Jack is Back!

Construction stocks should be spiking right now.

GUS

Doesn't he have to stall for a couple years, and ask Rodham and Kerry and Colin Powell for some sort of PERMISSION to allow the pipeline.
I mean, obviously LIBTARDS were doing their very best to get the pipeline ok'd, but the "Process" just takes, a long time!!! Right??

anonamom

I come in from running errands to hear my POTUS saying :
"We will build our own pipelines. We will build our own pipes."

As he signs an EO.

Jobs. Maybe for the East Jordan Foundry in Michigan.
(if it still exists)

We have plenty of steel pipe manufacturers with the requisite quality. Will more expensive than Mexican or Korean but higher quality. They would have to gear up of the quantity.

You're right, DD, I should spend more time gloating. All it's done is convince me that the opposition, including some dear friends, has nothing in their arsenal to offer to the national discussion. I would like to know what you think about the DNC leadership debate. Give us some insight"

I'm honestly just not smart enough to know enough about the current DNC race or the inner conflicts between the Sanders and Clinton wings.......but......I do know that everyone at the DNC applauds President Donald Trump and his continuing support of the implementation of DACA on a daily basis.

According to the united States citizenship and Immigration office there are zero plans to change this policy in the coming future and trust me...if Trump was going to roll back DACA it would have been the first thing on his executive order list.

Insight into the minds of the DNC members would suggest that they are very pleased with your president's acquiescence to the illegal immigrant population by continuing to issue them tens of thousands of permits.

How's that for insight?

That comes from Charlie Gasparino, so I don't believe it's necessarily true. Seems like a reporter would have picked up on that. (Gasparino isn't a reporter.)

Jack is Back!

Has he hit the golf course yet?

CH,

Looks like Woodmont GC has relented and will invite him to join. I don't think he will because a large number of the members are Jewish and can't be pleased with his views on Israel and financial support of the PLA.

dublindave

But at least we've gotten off crowd sizes........Dear God if I had to listen to that mans delicate little ego cry for help one more time I think I was going bust a gut."Waaaaahhhhhh,I need to be loved waaaaaagh I need to have big crowds waaaaaaaaaaaghhhhhh they have to love me Waaaaaaagh I had bigger ratings than Arnie waaaaaaagh the dishonest media wwwwwwaaaaghghghghg".

Jesus Christ man, it's like nails on a chalk board.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

cheeerleader is correct about the Wall, as it is also my understanding they are currently looking for where they can get funds immediately (to be reimbursed by a tax on those remittances or just a check from the Mexican government, perhaps in gratitude for efforts to eradicate the cartels, which is an idea my sister has).

Also, you have to procure supplies and contractors, something which couldn't be done until he was actually in office.

And it is DAY @ of working days!!!

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Sounds like the reporters in Afghanistan. Is the next stop QUAGMIRE?

narciso

I see it as a Socratic exercise,

Jack is Back!

Anyone know if there is scorecard where someone is ticking off the Trump 100 day plan boxes? How is he doing to what he promised the first 4 days in office (I know weekends don't count)? Seems to me from what I remember he is on schedule.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

The new wall decor of the press briefing room is a panoramic view of the Inauguration crowd. LOL!

Tell me this isn't going to be great fun!!

dublindave

"cheeerleader is correct about the Wall, as it is also my understanding they are currently looking for where they can get funds immediately..."

Wait a second, wait a second......Mexico's paying for the wall, there's no need to look around for funds...mexico's going to pay for it.

Right?

No?

Are you telling me that the American people are going to pay for it and at some stage maybe two three years down the road we hope Mexico coughs up the cash? Have you ever known a Mexican? Have you ever loaned a Mexican money? Jesus Christ.......Mexico's not paying for that wall......Congress won't approve it...DACA's staying the same......I think we secretly elected Liberal.

matt, deplore me if you must

Just about one year ago I was in Pennsylvania cooling my jets before a big meeting in NYC. I had a couple of days of down time and decided to drive down to the Dutch Country and venture out from there.

One of the day trips was down to the Antietam battlefield in MD. I decided to take the back roads and ended up in Steelton, PA, just outside of Harrisburg. The mill there was massive with huge amounts of 10' diameter pipe just sitting abandoned.

At one time Steelton had one of the world's premier mills. Now it is a ghost town. I kept a photo in my office for years of the old Bethlehem blast mill at night to remind me of what we had and what we have lost in manufacturing.

Hopefully we will see some of that return. We cannot have all of our eggs in the auto industry basket. Sales have been at all time highs and what goes up must eventually come down.

Building those pipelines will mean huge economic impact downstream. More feedstock producers, more converters, and more exports. Not only that we will be reducing our carbon footprint.

So what can the Luddites really argue? That we need to keep energy prices high so that green energy can compete? For more electric cars that people don't want? For more exports of raw materials to China so that they can pollute their skies and water in order to undermine our economy?

One of Trump's core philosophies is that the business of America is business. It is old fashioned when one buys into the global economy, but the economic reality has been massive trade deficits for 40 years. This has not been balanced by any means with the services that were promised to buoy the economy. A lot of that was outsourced to India. Besides, working in a call center is no life or career path.

More good jobs, repatriation of offshore profits, a lower tax burden and regulatory relief seem to be on the right track.

While the Left's heads explode the rest of us will be too busy working. maybe they will have to get real jobs.

MM, there's too many people there, it must really have been from an Obama inauguration.

anonamom

Robin's 9:23 about the turnout for the march in Ithaca, and it being the cumulation of nine weeks of shock, grief and mourning finally cleared it all up for me:

We were watching a funeral.

I got all the other religious ritual aspects of it--the pilgrimage, the physical denials involving sleep deprivation, minimal access to food and water, the special clothing, the creed of their platform, the sacrament of abortion, the chanting and singing at the foot of the temple of Lincoln.

I just didn't get the reason for all of it. Now I do.

They were holding a funeral.

PD

Amusing to see DD go on and on and on about the crowd sizes and how important this supposedly is to Trump, conveniently forgetting Trump didn't bring it up. He's only pushing back.

Just like the dopes at the presser, "Why are you talking about crowd sizes?"

Uh, well, maybe because you decided to make it an issue and we decided to correct the record. If you didn't want to talk about it, YOU shouldn't have made it an issue.

They really can't get past their "We'll attack you, and if you object, it's your fault" mindset.

Jesus Christ enough of the crowd sizes, seriously, it's the dumbest thing in the world. 60 plus million Americans voted for the Trumpster making him President so to suggest he's not popular is completely moronic. The fact that the surrounding boroughs are mostly registered dems is also a factor as is the timing of when the photograph was taken. It doesn't matter.

Plus all the white in the photograph discounts the attendance of the KKK in their bedsheets. There was a lot of people there.

Mainly about Trump's choice to fight back against the MSM, how W didn't and it hurt him.

Karen Hughes was the only member of team W that didn't strongly urge him to level with the public on the progress, or temporary lack thereof, in Iraq and other items of national impact; which definitely made her an outlying point so she left between terms. The unwillingness to heed her advice allowed the donk/MFM consortium to set the narrative and produced the electoral disasters of 2006 and 8 which it took a party outsider to recover from.

Captain Hate

..That strongly urged him to level...

I've met him subsequently at political events here .

Yes, people have had that lingering, very coughy respiratory thing. And some have coughed for weeks.

I seriously suggest you try rse's "elixir." Chicken broth w garlic, onions, chopped ginger root and red pepper flakes. Simmer for a bit and drink up! Like a quart a day.

Another good briefing ongoing by Sean Spicer. He is doing an excellent job in explaining how Trump is extremely focused on not wasting Taxpayer money, and working hard to ensure that if Taxpayer money is spent it has been sufficiently studied before to make sure the taxpayers are getting the best deal and the most bang for the buck. He mentioned this first in explaining why Trump is reviewing the Keystone Pipeline Deals for renegotiation, but tied it in to a question about what does he think about Obama and Kerry giving away $220 Million to the PLO on the way out the door. So far the Press is suitably respectful and serious this morning. Shazam!

jimmyk

I hope Spicer answered "There's more evidence of illegal voting than there is that the Russians influenced the election, a story trumpeted on NPR for weeks."

daddy

Spicer does a nice job hammering the Dem's and Schumer for stalling Trump's nominees.

Nice reply to a Reporter asking if Trump will appoint to the Supreme's a "Mainstream sort of Judge that the Dem's will like, and that the Dem's are encouraging Trump to do? Spicer replied that "it is mainstream to support the Constitution" so Trump will appoint Judges who support the Law and the Constitution. Next question?

DebinNC

rse's tonic as posted here awhile back:

Get a quart or 48 oz size container of chicken broth. I use swanson's natural goodness lower sodium.
If possible get a fresh chicken drumstick or thigh. If the grocery doesn't sell singles, you can use smoked turkey wings.
Pour the container in a pot and add poultry on bones. Add several pieces of fresh celery, including lots of leaves. Smash several cloves of garlic and add. Peel some fresh ginger and add at least 1 or 2 TBS.
Peel a small to medium onion and cut in half. Slice very thin strips and add to pot. Remember onions have more vitamin c than an orange.
Zest a lemon and add and then juice the lemon and add at least half of that.
You could sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes, but I keep dried habaneros and something else hot and throw in several whole dried red peppers.
You can also throw in a bay leaf and 5 or so peppercorns.
A little salt to taste but be careful if using smoked turkey.
Simmer covered at least 15 to 20 minutes and turn off and let sit covered for at least 30 minutes. I usually scoop out first cup with ladle after about 45 minutes of sitting.
Pour mixture into colander over bowl and save to thermos. The chicken is also darn tasty if you want to nibble.
