The story is appalling; the press treatment is to be expected, although it is evolving.
The NY Times has broken with their normal practice and decided to give their readers a dose of reality:
4 Questioned After Video Shows Racially Charged Beating in Chicago
By Mitch Smith and Niraj Chokshi
CHICAGO — The police here were questioning four people on Wednesday as video circulated online showing a white teenager tied up and beaten as a group of young African-Americans shouted antiwhite messages and insulted President-elect Donald J. Trump.
Well, OK. One might wonder how the races of the victim and alleged perpetrators could be suppressed in what has all the look of a hate crime, but this is the MSM in 2017. John Hinderaker has the initial AP coverage, headlined "Chicago police investigate video beating"; his linked article has been updated, as of 10:20 PM Jan 4, but here is the key graf, paragraph 5:
While police officials did not confirm the races of the suspects or victim, video from Chicago media outlets appeared to show someone off-camera using profanities about "white people" and President-elect Donald Trump.
The current AP story, 7:30 AM Jan 5, headlined "Charges Expected in Chicago Beating Broadcast on Facebook", amends that fifth graf and drops it to eighth:
While police officials did not confirm the races of the suspects or victim, video from Chicago media outlets appeared to show someone off-camera using profanities about "white people" and President-elect Donald Trump. The victim appeared to be white, while others shown in the video appeared to be black.
Whatever. Ed Driscoll, posting at Instapundit, has more on the network "coverage" Wednesday night.
And just to state the obvious - Heaven help us if four awful whites did this to a black person. We would be having a national conversation about nothing else and there would be Serious People calling for a delay to the Trump inauguration.
