Jor

You finally made a few good points.

From Clarice's TIMES link:

Mr. Bharara’s dismissal capped an extraordinary showdown in which a political appointee who was named by Mr. Trump’s predecessor, President Barack Obama, declined an order to submit a resignation.

“I did not resign. Moments ago I was fired. Being the US Attorney in SDNY will forever be the greatest honor of my professional life,” Mr. Bharara wrote on his personal Twitter feed, which he set up in the last two weeks.

What "extraordinary showdown?" He was given an opportunity to exit gracefully and he turned it down, choosing instead to go all Hollywood. "E'ff him. He got fired. What's so extraordinary about another Federal Employee thinking they're bigger than the guy they work for, President of the United States, and getting canned?

lyle

I hate daylight savings time, but springing ahead is easier on me than falling behind. Bloody Marys with brunch comes an hour earlier...

James D.

I think anyone connected to Schumer is a non starter.

I don't know, maryrose.

I think they could still be trusted, with the proper care and due diligence taken.

Start with a few weeks of orientation and education to assess their loyalties (the techniques used in "A Clockwork Orange" would be a good guide here).

Then move on to a good, thorough delousing, maybe using high pressure hydrochloric acid.

After that, any of them who were left standing, and still wanted a job with President Trump, could be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Jack is Back!

Preet has been fired.

In re: The Ancestry.Com blog piece on the makeup of the British: It is based on DNA samples from the United Kingdom. Using a map of England only may have led to the confusion. UK = England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands (ie. Guernsey).

My DNA has been analyzed down to home county (Sussex), mother's home county (Galway) and because my Great-great grandmother on my father's side was the daughter of a French Huegenot, I am 8% French. But mostly English (more Norman than Anglo/Saxon), Celtic (mostly Irish with a little Scots thrown in) and the French dose:)

Everyone who is interested should do the Ancestry DNA test. Very revealing and non-invasive. Some people don't want to know and I understand - skeletons and closets.

Truthbetold5

Time to indict Anthony Weiner!

Buckeye

I need to travel more because Mrs. Buckeye is working me like a dog.

Two weeks ago it was the tile job in the foyer.

Last weekend it was replacing the lockset in the entry door which was a real pain because it needed a 2 inch hole concentric with the 1 1/2 inch hole that was already there. Had to make a special jig for that. Not to mention that it is a steel door.

Today I am fixing a toilet that keeps running, and of course it needs more than just a flapper valve. Found a hairline crack in the tank. The old guy at the hardware store fixed me up with some magic epoxy. It is an old school American Standard with a 3 1/2 gallon tank that are now made from unobtanium.

No way I am shitcanning it (pun intended), since these are the ones that actually work:)

If the stock market crashes I am all set, gonna be the Mr. Fixit guy at the old folks home.

lyle

I stand with James D!

Old Lurker

Dr. J...thanks for the firing news. That was just as immediate as it should have been.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

jor,

Do you belong to a church? A club? what is your occupation? Did you go to college? What was your major?

America was the leader coming out of WWII because we were the only major country that wasn't damn near a pile of rubble. No competition.

Once Europe andJapan got on their feet, followed 20 years later by China, we weren't going to be the only guy on the block.

Trump is going to fix things. If you don't see that, you are as blind as Rosie O'Donnell, who is an insane head case.

Now go away. I wish your generation every success, not dying in the streets.

Old Lurker

"After that, any of them who were left standing,... should be shot."

Fixed it.

Truthbetold5

Another Bob

Trump and Bharara met pre-inauguration right?

Did Trump make what sounded like a commitment to keep him?

Jack is Back!

Not only does Trump want his own team of US Attorneys but I understand he wants them dedicated to reducing gang violence, especially by the undocumented, and to put more of a squeeze on the illegal immigration problem.

Again, more bizzness for my "cranium replacement surgery" practice.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Another Bob,

Preet came down from the meeting and said he was asked if he would be interested in staying on. He said on camera "Yes."

Now, I am not sure that this was exactly an offer or maybe a feeling him out. I thought at the time maybe it was because of the Weiner laptop.

However, his support for the challengers to Trump's Travel Ban was pretty much insubordination, if you ask me. And then grandstanding about being fired seems to me to be pretty obvious in its political intent.

Old Lurker

Schumer was in my neck if the woods yesterday grandstanding in regards to the freight train derailment. Here is his quote in our local paper,

Schumerstood Friday at the Newburgh waterfront where a CSX freight train derailed on Tuesday. Three locomotives and 16 freight cars, including five tankers carrying hazardous materials like sulfuric acid, derailed when the train hit a boom lift stopped on the tracks.

"I'm fed up with the federal government," Schumer said. "They've got to move their butts and do a lot more."

"I'm fed up with the federal government," said Schumer, who quickly added, "we need more government spending, er, I mean investment."

Steph, very funny conversation with YL and SIL...the former Marine...last summer as the birth of their twins was getting closer. While YL's car had worked fine when they just had Baby Max, three would just not work so they were car hunting.

Now anyone spending two minutes on the subject can see that there is no car design better than a mini van for that situation. SIL absolutely refused to own one or have one in his driveway. My lips were zipped.

The hillbilly in him was super happy when they settled on a big ass Tahoe. Fast forward to post birth and I asked him if that Tahoe with three baby seats lined up on the back seat had fooled anybody yet? He observed that his life as he knew it had ended.

Let me sooooo predict the outcome of this vaingloriousness of the SIL--his and sadly your daughter's backs are going to be KILLING them soon from lifting those kiddos in to a Tahoe, instead of having them in nice low minivan.

Just sayin'....

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Captain Hate,

Speak for yourself. My siblings and I work pretty hard, raised good kids, and are not involved in the selfishness of some.

However, fell free to lump yourself in with my ex-husband, if you think you're such a crumb bum. (I do not see you that way at all.)

Threadkiller

Speaking as a boomer, jor is fairly spot on regarding what a stain on humanity the generation has been.

The so called "greatest generation" is to blame.

I think we need to go back one more generation to find the truly greatest America had to offer. They raised the unselfish kids that went on to raise the entitled pukes.

Truthbetold5

Good luck trying to defend the boomers as a generation.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Boomers just are. No generation has the corner on virtue, including that if my parents, who did some amazing things but also had some classmates who were worthless bums.

Millenials entitled? Not all of them, by a long shot. For every one who is a SJW, therre's another serving in the military.

It's just as dangerous to characterize an age group as it is to characterize a religion or race. I don't ascribe to it, period.

Good afternoon from sunny Florida! So,you guys up north are getting a blizzard this week? Sad.
It is spring break in Florida and the police have their hands full with drunk and rowdy college kids. I'm confused, because I thought all these special snowflakes needed safe spaces. I thought they all had student loans causing a terrible burden. Their actions on the beaches would indicate otherwise.

Up until WW2 they were described as Americans. Nothing special.

"Garrison Keillor"

There was a time during my ill-fated first marriage when GK was a Saturday night staple.

I liked his intro for what was a taping of the live show he'd do in St. Paul when first building his national audience.

There was an ad for some brand of buttermilk biscuits which had a catchy tag line I'll never forget: "Heavens! They're tasty!" That would make me laugh given what I knew of my Cat-lick friends from St. Paul whom I'd known in my college years in South Bend Indiana.

At any rate, never thought GK was funny. But there was one story he read "Nothing is Wasted on a Child." It was pretty fine writing and packed a punch moral-wise.

Other than that his stuff had a reek of "You'll never be like me." It was true. He's the third white guy on the right in that Civil War daguerrotype.

So what was the point of building a career on separating oneself out in that way? The guy missed the point of being an American *most* of the time.

Kev

DrJ

Millenials entitled? Not all of them, by a long shot.

Agreed. While it is the popular perception, it has not been my experience either. New Kid is working out great -- he's bright, he works hard, and has no IDIs at all. The other kids I interviewed were the same.

And I hired another bookkeeper -- the fifth in six months! -- and she seems the same way.

Now MrsJ finds and screens all of my candidates, and neither of us are much interested in IDIs (I Deserve It).

The book "The Fourth Turning" is an in depth discussion of generations and cycles. Three of my siblings and I are boomers, born between 1954 and 1960. My two younger sisters were born in 1965 and 1967. I think they would be called Gen X,but I consider them young boomers. The daughter was born in 1977 and she is Gen X.
When I was a senior in high school,I had a few newly minted teachers who had just gotten out of college. They were only four or five years older than the seniors and we didn't give them much respect. They were fellow boomers,so what did they know? :)

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

Condemning a generation en masse is not a good thing and much of today's problems were begun by the Great Society geezers of prior generations but the fact is the decline of and many of the pathologies infecting America came about on the boomer's watch and specifically because of the embrace by so many of them of the New Left's subversive dogma.

Jor understands what went wrong but he doesn't know why or how to fix it.
Charles Murray is the problem? Really?

No exceptions.

Planting the family flag one peak higher than the last is not a given; it is not assured by being born; nor, is it a birthright.

It's what each one of the 400,000 newborns hitting the deck every 24 hours *DO NEXT* that matters. And that's it.

There have been wastrels, scoundrels, robber barons and thieves during every single trip around the Sun this planet has made since primates began measuring time.

To typecast an entire generation is utter buffoonery and wouldn't even get a D- in a sophomore in high school history or philosophy class (which most knuckleheads don't even have to take to "graduate.")

Something powerful has awakened with the election of the MAGA President. It is something which reminds me of the United States following the attempted decapitation strike at Pearl Harbor in 1941.

We have just come through a 24 year decapitation strike against the Republic, for which the United States *stands* and the God of our inspiration and understanding.

One historian remarked after the carnage of Pearl Harbor: "Time needed."

At a moment when our destruction seemed imminent, we created the time and forged a destiny.

Today, we are all alive and *INVOLVED* in doing the same thing as "the Greatest Generation." They won a two-front world war and rebuilt Western europe and Japan--- AND GAVE THEM BACK to the people.

What awe-inspiring deeds will erupt onto our national stage despite these chucklheaded carpetbagging flimflam artists of McConnell, Ryan's, Schumer's, Durbin, Graham, McStain, Pelosi's ilk?

They are already ash. A strong cleansing wind is coming with the mid-term elections. And POTUS is not wasting a moment in laying the track to eject the pantloads of the GOPe who are WASTING OUR [redacted] time.

I don't want to hear that the problems are too big, the "Deep State" too powerful, and the Media too corrupt and all out against us.

That is not THE TRUTH. Our freedom lies within THE TRUTH--- *THAT* is our political DNA and these cancerous pricks and chancres in DC will not survive the political resetting of the body politics pH level.

When Americans become full partners in The Truth the Republic will be conserved.

Jack is Back!

Well, I am a pre-boomer by Marlene's definition and I didn't raise any malcontent snowflakes. Both of my step-kids (1st marriage) turned out to independently successful, conservative and patriotic. Smart, raising families and entrepreneurial.

Frederick is not a snowflake or self-impaling. Sure he loves UTube, Overwatch, other games but he is an athlete (tennis and lacrosse), very smart, science oriented, conservative and a lector and altar server at church.

Its not the generation, per se, but the parents. I am not the only one. Lots of parents raising their kids just like me and income, race, sexual orientation has nothing to do with it. But laziness does and that trait is also why people turn to drugs and other diversions that interfere with their parental responsibility.

This is really interesting. Chinese TV interviewed Assad. It's about half an hour and is in English. (How interesting is that? Syrian and Chinese conversing in English - the Anglosphere still has some influence.)

Sundance happened to find this after seeing clips from CNN, which they altered a bit to make it sound like Turkey was fighting ISIS, while Assad says Turkey is enabling ISIS.

It's interesting to hear from direct sources, I think. Runs about 1/2 an hour:

In his wiki entry it doesn't dish any dirt about the failed marriage(s) but he describes himself as being unable to look people in the eye and being a high functioning autistic. "Go out and enjoy our City, we all speak English". All except the Turk at the hot dog cart.

Clarice,

On that book I read a few months back about the Peasants Revolt of 1381 in England, I call reading that as the Revolution was being conceived, the conspirator leaders decided to hold a meeting at the small village of Bocking in Essex. It was centrally located, but the author also said that it was chosen because about 30 years prior Bocking Village had launched a mini-revolt of sorts that got crushed, so it had the reputation of being a place the conspirators thought would be fertile ground for another call to revolution. That made me laugh reading that as it reminded me of Puck.

From the internet there's this: Within a short space of time the Essex men had linked up with Kentish dissidents, and a radical political agenda emerged. The rebel leaders, who were key members of their local communities, viewed themselves as protectors of the laws and customs of the realm. On 2 June, at Bocking, in Essex, they declared their intention 'to destroy divers lieges of the king and to have no law in England except only those which they themselves moved to be ordained'

Our P'UK was 'a chip off the old Bock!'
