Clarice: lol, its funny to see stuff straight from fox right on here. Its almost as if Nunes isn't the chair of a panel investigating the WH; who last week, said he had information from a "whistleblower" -- which in fact turns out to be a target of his investigation. This was information he couldn't share with other committee members.

Clarice,

Well to me it matters. I am fed up with fake news.
NYT reports the story and every other news agency runs
with it as if it's factual. I'm sure Nunes received his evidence
from people with security clearances. It's that fake news
muddies the water when trying to find the real culprits.

RatlerGator at 8:33 pm, your comments on the so-called Freedom Caucus are a balm for my soul. I've been arguing this point all day with someone who voted for Trump but still holds out hope for Ted Cruz.

cheerleader

Exdemocrat, your link to the sundance post about Katy Walsh made me realize something for the first time, when I saw that picture, which I've seen many times before.

It is the picture of Bannon and Reince on either side of President Trump, which I've seen many times before. But for the first time, seeing it tonight made me realize that those two men that he picked to work together closely, symbolically represent the two big Republican party factions.

When he made those two early appointments of Bannon and Reince, President Trump made a special point of saying how well Reince and Bannon worked together during the campaign, how complementary their skills and personalities. A lot of people hated that Trump hired Reince, because they believed he was too establishment Rino, too close to Paul Ryan. Other people, mostly Dems hated Bannon, who was an Andrew Breitbart tea party guy.

It just never occurred to me before that President Trump pairing those two, and getting them to work closely together, was serving up an object lesson that the party could get over its differences and how great it would be if it did.

He obviously doesn't have any warm feelings about the Freedom Caucus, made apparent in his tweet today. Which again emphasized he has no use for factionalism in the party.

Davod

"Which again emphasized he has no use for factionalism in the party."

Rubbish. Trump is using factionalism to strengthen his position at the expense of the party.

Davod

Regarding - The Russians hacked or tred to affect Rubio's campaign.

Even if, and it's a big if, the Russians did attempt to affect the Rubio Campaign, to the benefit of the Trump campaign, what does it tell us?

We know that the Hillary Campaign and the Democratic Party knew that Trump was the best Republican nominee as far as they were concerned. The Democrats wanted to run against Trump.

Maybe whoever wanted to affect the other Republican contenders were trying to ensure Trump was at the top of the ticket. Hence, they were working to advantage the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton.

So why did Comey's FBI so nonchalantly accept CrowdStrike's review of Clinton's server.

A very good question.

The other question is why the DNC didn't want the FBI looking at their server.

Were their negotiations about this situation? What excuse did the DNC give the FBI? How did CrowdStrike get injected into the investigation? Had they done other work for the DNC prior to the Podesta email debacle? Who recommended them? Who else has CrowdStrike worked for?

Mostly Indian and Chinese parents raise a ruckus about changes to SexEd curriculum in a NorCal district. IMO, it's driven by Dem requirements that it is no longer sufficient to tolerate gays. You must positively approve of gays and gay lifestyles.
Many Indian and Chinese parents are coming from more traditional/modest cultures. And, in any case, prefer class time to be spent on math and science rather than sexual indoctrination.
Snips from local news stories.
"The issue for many parents was the graphic nature of the material, and how far is too far when it comes to sex ed in middle school. The proposed curriculum included descriptions of vaginal, oral and anal sex, along with material on homosexuality."

"Parents packed the Cupertino Union School District board meeting many carrying signs protesting the proposed changes – some that read “Support age appropriate sex education,” “Over-exposure damages,” and “Do not put adult ideas in my child’s head.”"

"In January 2016, the state passed the California Healthy Youth Act, which mandates comprehensive sex ed at least once in 7th or 8th grades, and once in high school. While the district has offered sex ed to students for years, the old curriculum is no longer compliant with the new law."

""All of our old curriculum our videos were very heterosexual oriented,” said teacher Kristina Everhardt. “Not just heterosexual-oriented but very male-female. ""

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Captain Hate,

What baffles me is why they think this is even worth fighting for. Why are they demanding the right to release violent criminals back out among their populations?

The black community can't be happy about this. Legal immigrants can't be happy, particularly if some of these are gang members.

The only thing I can figure is that this is a policy which benefits the drug cartels, which must be paying the democrats.

Buckeye

Takeaway from Wretchard's piece:

The future of nation building may lie in downsizing the governments of the Third World, not in massively building them up. When John Lennon wrote the song "Imagine" he may have gotten the lyrics wrong. Imagine there's no state -- not no country. Imagine there's no bureaucracy. Imagine if you can.

Pretty good prescription for First World countries too, shrink gummint like a prune.

Captain Hate

I've never been aware of how they rationalize their existence because I've never been sympathetic to them. Immigration has always existed to serve what was perceived as the interests of the country until Ted Kennedy and his ilk used it as an early fundamental transformation opportunity.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

The other day Jeff Sessions referred to them as "hide out" cities.

That is a point for my theory that the cartels are the ones who want this situation.

Perhaps you're not aware -- SINCE YOU EXEMPTED YOURSELVES FROM OBAMACARE, CONGRESS -- but buying or selling health insurance is illegal in America.

A very simple new law would solve things like this very nicely:

1. In the interest of ensuring that legislation works as intended without damaging unintended consequences, all new legislation shall apply ONLY to members of Congress, their immediate family members, and their staffs, for a period of at least two years, before it applies to the public at large.

2. Similarly, all new regulations put forth by any Federal agency shall apply ONLY to employees of that agency and their immediate families, for a period of at least two years, before applying to the public at large.

I imagine we'd see a lot more care put into legislation and regulations under those conditions.

Another Bob

CH, MM, I'll strap on my tinfoil hat on that...

The idea is to turn "traditional Americans" (however you define that) into a minority. Nobody thinks MS13 gang members vote, but the population numbers have to be pumped up to avoid calling attention to the vast amounts of election fraud that occurs in the vote-counting process.

As a bonus the violent gang is another tool with which to frighten (in the Mencken sense) the population into agreeing to more police state.

I told you it was tinfoil...

Miss Marple the Deplorable

JimNorCal,

It's very instructive to look at textbooks from the 1940's vs. now. Vocabulary has declined a lot since WWII.

Same with newspaper articles.

rse

Language is quite literally the tool for thought. If you want to both circumscribe and direct thinking so that the typical student comes to have a common perspective of how they see the world, a common vocab is how you do it.

Textbooks put the emphasis on a body of knowledge. That's no longer the point in any state and few schools under the language of federal legislation. The point now is experiential. Marrying sensory experiences to that controlled vocab that constrain how those experiences are perceived and interpreted.

That plays into that sex ed curriculum, which actually originates at unesco. jim-there is a link on my blog to a google doc that came out this week on unconscious bias and how to combat patterns that arise at an unconscious level. It would be useful to those cupertino parents.

jim-one more point that is made in the book Global Mind Change by Willis Harman of the Institute for Noetic Sciences. People react to virtual reality physically in the precise same manner as they would physical reality and vr can obviously be manipulated. The behavioral scientists want the visual images to trump rational thought and they would very much like there to simply be one category called Sexuality. No normative overtones.

This is something I have noticed in TV shows recently, especially Supergirl since it moved to CW. Aliens are constantly making comments about how their planet has moved away from treating sexual relationships as being about gender. I told red she could watch online. We weren't recording anymore. I prefer midsomer murders anyway as it has no commercials.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

rse,

I love Midsomer Murders. I think I will start at the beginning and watch the whole series again. I like not only the mysteries, but the characters and the scenery.

Regarding "experience", I have noticed several stories on marketing and Millennials telling businesses that Millenials value experience s more than things.

This gets tied in with the minimalist decor and tiny homes and the like. My sister and I thought perhaps it was a way to diminish expectations of material success while making them feel virtuous, but now I think it is really a result of how their thinking has been altered.

Chuck Palahniuk's story of hopelessness and masculinity is more powerful than ever.

http://thefederalist.com/2017/03/30/why-fight-club-still-matters/

"It’s about loneliness, an emotional state that psychologists warn is far more powerful than people realize. In fact, “[t]he biggest threat facing middle-age men isn’t smoking or obesity. It’s loneliness” contends Billy Baker in his recent fascinating piece in the Boston Globe. The young men of “Fight Club” are the middle-aged men of today.

It’s about boredom, another unappreciated and destructive human condition. The English punks of the mid-seventies, who, like Durden’s mischief-makers, embraced nihilism as a way to push back against modern life, were also spurred by “boredom.” "...
