I got this from the back of a cereal box.

If Fat Chong Dong is half the leader he thinks he is then he'd take this "call" as a signal re President Trump's willingness to hurt him.

And Xi Chong Dong needs to sober up about Fat Chong Dong.

Fat's fantasy is taking over South Korea, a veritable breadbasket. If Fat succeeds in such a pyrrhic undertaking, ChiComz lose--- big time.

A unified Korea under Fat is bad news for Big Panda.

Currently, Communist China is South Korea's largest trading partner and South Korea is Communist China's third largest.

Fat Chong Dong is mentally unstable and administratively incompetent. He is a turnkey dictator.

Running the once free southern economy? I think not. So, the screws are put to Xi in that scenario to wrest the Caddy keys away from Fat.

How? A bloodbath.

With all the US paper Big Panda is choking on, losing a free economy trading partner would harm the Bubble Kingdom's "Economy to Nowhere."

Anyone heard what's become of the defense minister of record who presided over the recently missile test failure?

Fat Chong Dong's usual reaction to such failures is to execute the defense minister by putting him in front of a field artillery piece at front range, followed up by a flamethrower baptism into the afterlife.

Anything?

From the last thread:

Listening to Cleveland State's radio this morning, there's this weird show for two hours called the Ray Carr Show, where he plays oldies for a while, usually with excellent taste and some obscure stuff thrown in, and then has some co-hosts talk about entertainment matters. Today one of them, a woman who can sound like a chattering birdbrain but who is quite knowledgeable about what she talks about, talked about the life of Bea Arthur. As she was objectively describing her professional life in great detail, the host was obviously very uninterested in it and wanted to get it over as soon as possible; which was funny listening and pointed out three things:

1. Nobody possessing a man card could stand watching Maude other than looking at Canzz Barbeau.
2. Norman Lear's characters were well cast with Meathead maybe the best/worst.
3. Humor is subjective.

WAPO says something meaningful:

"Trump has accomplished something more significant in his first 100 days than any president in recent memory has done: the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.

Trump’s predecessors’ early achievements were fleeting.

President Barack Obama’s stimulus (with its false promise of “shovel-ready” jobs) is long forgotten.

George W. Bush’s tax cuts were not signed until June and were partially repealed by his successor.

But Trump’s success in placing the 49-year-old Gorsuch on the Supreme Court will affect the direction of our country for a generation.

Indeed, Trump can count every 5-4 decision over the next three decades that goes conservatives’ way as one of his “First 100 Days” accomplishments.

No other modern president can claim to have had that kind of lasting impact in so short a time.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Janet,

I have come to the conclusion that90% of government programs are simply vehicles for employing people with worthless degrees and siphoning taxpayer money to cronies.

The two biggest culprits are environmental issues and poverty programs.

When I hear the democrats say "We need xxx billion dollars for the poor" , sociology and black studies departments and womens studies departments rub their hands in anticipation of placing graduates to boss the poor around and shuffle paperwork.

Poor people hear that statement from the dems and sadly think it means they will get bags of money deliveredto their doorstep.

Of course, what happens is that we end up with another department full of useless people and nothing in poor areas ever changes.

The area around DC does get richer, however.

Site has all he information for calculating times. Just download the "google map" Xavier has prepared and click on the purple arc anywhere around where you think you will be.

For example, if we are in our place in Florida around that time in August, we will drive up to the Savannah-Charleston area and find the exact coordinates to watch around 4pm.

I'd say it's a spat, not a divorce, JiB. I also think it's interesting that "journalists" dismiss the existence of bias by claiming that they've covered stories like the Clinton emails, which is proof of nothing. It's what they're supposed to do. The question is how it's covered.

Account Deleted

MM---> the largesse coming out of DC needs to be closely scrutinized.

Given the demands on his time, POTUS should systematically review *ALL* of those budgets, and the appropriations bills that launder the taxpayer cash.

I shared the conversational highlights from yesterday's talk with a federal contractor who is doing with former Mexican migrants in six states who are on the path to citizenship while *working* and completing high school, going to community college for vo-tec training in the photonics industry (as hot as laser tech programs were in the 80s), and completing their bachelors degrees.

That's the kind of stuff that is right in President Trump's wheelhouse for feeding and cultivating private foundation support by the pearl clutching crowd who are presently funding "sanctuary" projects and non-assimilation "cultural" programs which don't do squat.

President Trump can cut *and* redirect funding to successful programs that have been doing some significant and productive heavy lifting for over 30 years since the Great Society programs gutted the Vocational Education Act in favor of Democrat "better-living-through-bureaucracies" programs like the makework Comprehensive Employment and Training Act and the Job Training Partnership Act.

The other travesty has been the enviros penchant for using taxpayer money to do their propaganda PR campaigns through "the Ad Council" and other politburo style cabals. And then there is the "matching fund" circus where taxpayer subsidized "not-for-profits" pull down taxpayer funding and parlay that with private foundation monies (which are then used for 'advocacy' (code for lobbying).

This program CEO I spoke with yesterday cannot use one dime for PR, to tell the story of what this PathStone group has built over the decades.

But the "save the smelt" crowd has been able to get rich while decimating the California farm belt, and blame the drought conditions there on "greedy farmers."

President Trump will bring the entire edifice down as soon as he gets the House of Representatives to put the right sets of balls in the proper vice and squeeze.

The March for Science is proof that he's making an impact on various gravy trains.

No more funding to "scientists" who have become as docile and well-conditioned as bar pecking pigeons in a maze.

In the unlikely event anyone was wondering what the Canadian softwood lumber dispute was about, basically most Canadian timber is owned by and comes from government properties known as Crown lands.
The Canucks employ a byzantine and highly subsidized method of doling out the contracts to cut and export timber.
The dispute has endured for many years and is partly the result of intractable differences in the structure of markets, in that Canada doesn’t really have one.

And to be fair, one of the reasons, probably the primary one actually, these trade agreements are 1,500 pages long is because of the language setting up mechanisms and procedures for dealing with these kind of disputes.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Coverage was so over-the-top anti-Trump during the election that my two pro-Trump sisters never heard of the Podesta emails released through Wikileaks.

That's why this whole "Russia hacked the election" thing is ridiculous. Even if Russia DID hack Podesta's emails, it hardly got any television coverage. Sure, Trump mentioned them a couple of times in his rally speeches, but the fact is that those rally speeches weren't covered except on cable news (principally Fox) and not completely at all times.

The Wikileaks files got some coverage on blogs and places like Reddit's The_Donald. but most voters STILL couldn't tell you what Wikileaks is.

2. Teaching Math In The 1960's

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit?

3. Teaching Math In The 1970's

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80. Did he make a profit?

4. Teaching Math In The 1980's

5. Teaching Math In 1990's

A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20. What do you think of this way of making a living? Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? Re: teaching math...

We need more accurate subject names.

For instance, “Political Science” isn’t about politics and certainly isn’t a science.

To make it relevant, get to the heart of what matters, and grab people’s attention, perhaps we should call the subject: “Who should choose?”

Who should choose how many types of deodorant to sell?

Who should choose how much money you earn should be given to others?

Who should choose who your friends are?

Who should choose your doctor?

Who should choose who you buy from?

Who should choose who you sell to?

Cecil Turner
America's U.N. envoy warned of a strike if Pyongyang attacks a U.S. military base or tests an intercontinental ballistic missile.
Except she didn't actually say that we'd strike if they tested an ICBM:
But asked what would happen if North Korea tests an intercontinental missile or nuclear device, Haley said, "I think then the president steps in and decides what's going to happen."
And that would almost certainly be nothing, because there are no good options available. We don't have enough military power over there to do the job, and the ROK isn't going to attack and risk the destruction of Seoul. Barring an actual NoKo nuclear attack (which would be certain suicide), we're better off sitting on our hands and letting the PRC put pressure on Kim.

And on that note, the pressure from the PRC seems serious for the first time in living memory:

PYONGYANG, North Korea — Car users in Pyongyang were scrambling Friday to fill up their tanks as gas stations began limiting services or even closing amid concerns of a spreading shortage. [. . .]

The cause of the restrictions or how long they might last were not immediately known.

North Korea relies heavily on China for its fuel supply and Beijing has reportedly been tightening its enforcement of international sanctions aimed at getting Pyongyang to abandon its development of nuclear weapons and long-range missiles.

Fuel is the limiting factor both for the DPRK military and their agricultural output. It's their center of gravity and the message is sharp and unmistakable. Dunno how Trump got Xi on-side, but this is exactly what we've been trying to get done for decades: actual smart diplomacy (unlike other efforts with a dubious claim to the name).

I was President of the school board at the time and could not get the principal or pastor to see my point on 1) letting someone else do the teaching, and, 2) Nye wasn't a qualified scientist or science teacher.

It was then I decided to get Frederick up here for a much better education. Last year he was let go since he didn't have qualified teacher credentials. Karma! Just like his alter-ego substitute teacher he was using.

Rush in Hour 1 is talking about the new handwritten copy of the Declaration Of Independence discovered in London by some Harvard Researchers. Rush says he thinks the discoverers are trying to see if they can use it to figure out a way to say that the founding of America was in some sense illegitimate, sort of like Tom Hanks trying to use Leonardo Da Vinci and the Gnostic Gospels to try to say Jesus had a wife and kids, and did
et get crucified, etc.

Here's the bit Rush is focusing on in the story:

...researchers are still trying to determine the person who wrote the document and who paid for the foundational document of the United States to be copied.

The signatories on the Sussex version of the document are not broken down by state, something that distinguished it from the Declaration in the National Archives, the researchers said.

“The team hypothesizes that this detail supported efforts, made by Wilson and his allies during the Constitutional Convention and ratification process, to argue that the authority of the Declaration rested on a unitary national people, and not on a federation of states,’’ the researchers wrote in the statement.

Well, yeah.

Yes, I like what Thrush said in the linked article. It's just that he (and all his MSM fellows) have dug such a deep hole for themselves, and have so completely squandered any credibility and goodwill that they may once have had. The road back for them is thousands of miles long, and a piece like Thrush's (or the Politico piece on the Iran deal) is one or two halting footsteps at the beginning of that path.

I don't think they deserve credit for doing the barest minimum of their jobs after years of dishonesty, willful negligence, and disgraceful failure.
