A) Kurds vs Turkey... who do we arm? (Kurds)
B) Ryan tax vs Trump tax (WSJ says Ryan, which means Trump is better)
C) Oh No, vote fraud will be found and outed
D) Trump gets two scoops, reporters get one scoop-- IMPEACH!!!

Jack is Back!

Trump now needs to restart Congress on the track to tax reform, Senate plan on health care for the obligatory conference, confirmation of remaining executive positions including ambassadors and getting their asses in high gear. Ryan and McConnnel will not do it without his push.

One way to take Comey and Russia off the agenda of left/media cabal.

Flood the zone, as they say.

Old Lurker

Mrs. OL is at YL1's helping with the kids so it was on me to collect WaPo from the driveway. My mistake was taking it out of the bag and glancing at A1.

It is entirely an ad to impeach Trump.

Fallback is to get a Special Counsel and/or Congressional Committee.

If Rs fall for either of those, they will rue the day for both the elections in 2018 and 2020 since either one will drag on through both and the leaks will be like campaign ads.

Old Lurker

Exactly, Jack. Flood the zone with MAGA actions.

pagar, a bacon, ham and sausage supporter

Who would have guessed?

Jack is Back!

And if Congress just shrugs at Trump's agenda and schedule then nothing like a tweet storm similiar to what Fake news and the Colberts of the world receive. I don't think Congress is immune to Trump's impatience and to-do list.

James D.

If Rs fall for either of those, they will rue the day

They're not called the Stupid Party for nothing...

The latest crisis seems to be that we have run out of unnamed sources to fool willing dupes.

We've moved on to unnamed associates.

The ongoing crisis is noise — so much noise we don’t recognize noise as the ongoing crisis.

Captain Hate

Ryan and McConnnel will not do it without his push.

Am I the only person who thinks that both of them have a real image problem in terms of not getting anything done and McTurtle particularly with not keeping McRINO and his ilk from going full retard?

Oh NO, sources at ZH say Trump is threatenting Comey, says he has tapes of conversations so Comey talking to press is a bad idea.

Old Lurker

I heart Trump's Don't Tread on Me style.

More. Harder.

Sources at ZH?

The source seems to be Trump.

Old Lurker

Trump did not say he had tapes, he said that Comey had better hope there are no tapes before he starts leaking to the press.

Smart move.

Can you imagine Lester Holt interrupting Obama so obnoxiously as he did Trump? Can you imagine Obama standing for it?

Trump probably has access to Comey's "witetaps" of the dinner.

Old Lurker

:-) TK.

TK, he put "tapes" in quotes, just like he did with "wire tapped," so now the MSM will go after the bait and claim the recording was digital and no actual magnetic tape was used.

I wonder how long we will have to wait for Poop Scoop and Patterico to start wailing and crying about a President who keeps options open to vindicate himself when necessary.

The MSM doesn't see the pattern, Porch.

Today's press conference can't possibly disappoint.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

When James Clapper himself, and virtually everyone else with knowledge of the witch hunt, says there is no collusion, when does it end?

Tepid ambivalence on the face of things seems close to fatalism Mr Maguire.

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

That ZH article was garbage.
Threatening to counter a lie with a tape of the conversation lied about is not "retaliation".

I do think however Trump should pivot as JiB suggests. There's obviously nothing to the Russia thing. When even DiFi and Maxine Waters admit that, as they have, it will die of its own accord and a pivot will put pressure back on the tits-on-a-boar congress where it belongs.

Narciso, about the cone, ask your vet if you could give your dog some Benadryl or dramamine -- dosage measured in milligrams/pound -- to make your dog sleepy until healing progresses.

TK, OL, we are blessed with the world's stupidest opponents. The MSM's obeisance is all they have left.

A commenter over at the zerohedge site called 'oldwood' posted this, and I agree with him

"You mean he should act like Bush and simply pretend people are not talking shit about you 24/7 and tell your supporters your God tells you to turn the other cheek.

"This is WHY we elected Trump. He lays down for no one and does not run from conflict pretending it is only a retreat for strategic regrouping that never happens.

"Sure, he makes you wince sometimes.....but fuckem if they can't take a joke."

The caterwauling from the media and the liberals is tiresome.

I'll keep that in mind, sbw.

SBW "Benadryl or dramamine -- dosage measured in milligrams/pound -- to make your dog sleepy until healing progresses."

That's how I got through the Obama years. Except with Tanqueray 10.

Old Lurker

Wish Oldwood would post here.

THE TRUMP FAMILY BUSINESS There may be no Trump Tower in Moscow or St. Petersburg, but it is not for lack of trying. Mr. Trump and his family have sought to do business in Russia since at least the 1980s. They have also developed extensive commercial and personal relationships with politically connected Russian businessmen. In 2008, Donald Trump Jr. told a real estate conference, “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross section of a lot of our assets; say in Dubai, and certainly with our project in SoHo and anywhere in New York,” according to eTurboNews, a travel industry news site. The author James Dodson said that another son, Eric Trump, told him in 2013 that Russians have bankrolled Trump golf courses: “Well, we don’t rely on American banks. We have all the funding we need from Russia."

Heh. That's how Las Vegas was built

jjm, here's another huge list of people saying no evidence of collusion:

White House officials talk freely about putting "fences" around President Trump and his decision-making to protect him from his self-indulgent instincts.

The wall strategy has worked pretty well so far on national security. National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster demanded and got control of the National Security Council, and set up a process for keeping SecDef Mattis, SecState Tillerson and Homeland Security Secretary Kelly in the loop — and, as importantly, keeping others outside it.

Inside the defense wall, the principals work hard to present Trump with black-and-white options in brief, visual ways. The wall has successfully guarded against UNFORCED INTERNATIONAL ERRORS!!!

Going from the "mainstream" media to a show like Stuart Varney's and listening to these experts talking about 'Positive Economic' news is like going to a different planet. I keep asking myself when will the raving loons at CBS, NBC, ABC, Washington Post, NYTimes, et al., give it up and realize that normal people are moving on -- if only the GOP and the GOPe would find their backbones.

Old Lurker

Where is MM? Does she expect me to go find my own links? Next thing you know, Cap'n will stop watching the Sunday shows for us.

n we last left Camp Runamuck, and it was only this morning, there was some question as to whether the walls of the East Room ought to be discreetly padded. Since then, and it's only been about six hours, every single element of the most recent account of why the president* iced James Comey had been refuted, much of it by the president* himself, who sat down for a whopper of an interview with Lester Holt of NBC and proceeded to make clowns out of Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Rod Rosenstein, and most conspicuously of all, Vice President Mike Pence, who must wish he were back being the incredibly unpopular governor of Indiana. It is getting very crowded under the bus..

"There it is, directly from the presidential mouth: Trump happily traded the reputation of Rosenstein, who began the week as a well-respected career prosecutor, for barely 24 hours of laughably transparent talking points in the news cycle. The White House sent out person after person—including the Vice President—to insist that Rosenstein’s memo constituted the basis for the President’s action against the FBI director. The White House described a bottoms-up dissatisfaction with Comey’s leadership, which Rosenstein’s memo encapsulated and to which the President acceded. And then, just as casually as Trump and his people set Rosenstein up as the bad guy for what was obviously a presidential decision into whose service Rosenstein had been enlisted, Trump revealed that Rosenstein was, after all, nothing more than a set piece."

Article II, sec. 4 of the Constitution provides for removal of the president from office “on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” Articles of impeachment must be adopted by a majority of the House of Representatives and conviction requires a vote of two-thirds of the Senate.

The meaning of “other high Crimes and Misdemeanors” has been hotly debated. There is no authoritative interpretation, but the consensus holds that it certainly includes a variety of conduct that violates the public trust, including serious abuses of governmental powers. Most agree that impeachable offenses are not limited to conduct that is otherwise criminally prosecutable, though the existence of criminal conduct certainly strengthens the case for impeachment.

Fundamentally, however, impeachment is a political process. Gerald Ford, in urging the impeachment of Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas, famously opined that “an impeachable offense is whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers it to be at a given moment.” Importantly, the Supreme Court has held that matters of impeachment pose political questions unsuitable for judicial review.

Obstruction of justice is both a federal crime and a well-established ground for impeachment. Under federal statutes, it is a crime to act with the specific intent to obstruct or interfere with a judicial or congressional proceeding, or a proceeding before a federal agency (such as an investigation). The proceeding must be pending at the time of the conduct and the defendant must know it. .

I know what the crisis du jour isn't - 20 trillion in debt and counting.

Nor is it a rising stock market fueled by demand from Central Banks. Our fed bought 4 trillion of US debt but the EU, Swiss and Japanese have been loading up on stocks. This puts a base on stock values - if the Swiss don't like Facebook dropping 5% they can just 'print the money' and buy it up to boost the price.

I think I saw on Zero Hedge the other day the CBs have something in the neighborhood of 24 trillion in financial assets now, with no plan to liquidate (the Fed floats trial balloons from time to time to liquidate their debt, slowly, and the market shutters every time they do it even though the start dates are always many months in the future). It's been 10 years since the ramp up started so it's safe to say this is a 'new normal'.

At some point we'll likely get the ECB telling Facebook that they'll dump their FB stock unless FB moves X employees to Germany. Or they'll try to gain proxies and remove a CEO for a similar reason.

But Trump's on the grill so these crises in slow motion will have to wait until he reaches the right temperature.

The face of evil

Five times draft evader Donald Trump seemingly lacks even a miniscule concept of the apocalypse even “conventional” weapons unleash. When he launched – arguably illegally – forty nine Cruise missiles which rained down on Syria (Thursday 6th April) whilst having dinner with Chinese President Xi Jinping, he remembered he was eating “a beautiful piece of chocolate cake”, but forgot the country he was attacking, muddling Syria with Iraq, so lightly was the unthinkable undertaken. Commerce Secretary, Wilbur Ross was quoted as calling the strike “after dinner entertainment.”

If Trump read and was thoughtful (the first apparently absent from his activities and the second seemingly fatally flawed) he might have reflected on North Korea’s genuine fears. Near erased from the earth by the US (1950-1953) constantly threatened over subsequent decades, Trump might have recalled the words of Joseph Rotblat, co-recipient of the 1995 Nobel Peace Prize with the Pugwash Conferences, for:

“their efforts to diminish the part played by nuclear arms in international affairs and, in the longer run, to eliminate such arms.”

Rotblat observed that:

“If the militarily most powerful and least threatened states need nuclear weapons for their security, how can one deny such security to countries that are truly insecure? The present nuclear policy is a recipe for proliferation. It is a policy for disaster.”

Another aspect of Theresa May’s Trump-like affliction is her equal lack of reflection. Determined apparently that she can play the world annihilation game with Trump led her Defence Secretary, Michael Fallon, to announce that she would fire the UK’s nuclear weapons as a “first strike”, if necessary. (1)

“In the most extreme circumstances, we have made it very clear that you can’t rule out the use of nuclear weapons as a first strike”, he told the BBC’s Radio 4.

Image result for Senator Frants Klintsevich

The reaction of Russian Senator Frants Klintsevich, Deputy Chairman of the Upper House of the Russian Parliament’s Defence and Security Committee, was to call Fallon’s comments “disgusting”, saying they deserved a ”tough response.” He gave it in no uncertain terms pointing out that: “Britain, not having the biggest territory”, would “literally be erased from the face of the earth”, were it to launch a preemptive strike. He asked .pointedly:

“Against whom is Great Britain going to preemptively use nuclear weapons?”

Upcoming documentary on Cary Grant..

"In addition to providing a cinematic case study, though, the film opens a window on to a lost utopia of LSD therapy. Indirectly, it spotlights a school of experimental medicine that flourished briefly before the arrival of Timothy Leary and the west coast hippie scene. Between 1950 and 1965, around 40,000 patients were prescribed lysergic acid to treat conditions as diverse as alcoholism, schizophrenia and PTSD. In the UK, Powick Hospital funded an “LSD clinic”. In the US, the CIA tested the drug as a truth serum. Turned on to the treatment by his third wife, Betsy Drake, Grant submitted himself to weekly sessions with Dr Mortimer Hartman at the Psychiatric Institute of Beverly Hills. The effects were startling. “In one LSD dream I imagined myself as a giant penis launching off from Earth like a spaceship.”

“He claimed he was saved by LSD,” explains Mark Kidel, the film’s director. “You have to remember that Cary was a private man. He rarely gave interviews. And yet, after taking acid, he personally contacted Good Housekeeping magazine and said: ‘I want to tell the world about this. It has changed my life. Everyone’s got to take it.’ I’ve also heard that Timothy Leary read this interview, or was told about it, and that his own interest in acid was essentially sparked by Cary Grant.”

Porch at 9:33: Yes, over and over we see this reported -- no evidence of collusion. But, that's not what the media and liberals want -- they want collusion. I keep thinking that eventually they'll have to move on, but then realize that as long as the people who voted for Clinton back the advertisers, the corporations that fund the networks, et. al., the howl of the jackals won't stop. So, we just have to have backbones. I'm going to contact all of my state's political representatives and urge them to support the president (which they do), but I want to remind them I'm out here.

I was pulling weeds sprouting in a flower bed just awhile ago and thought about calling the producers of the morning news, asking them to move on -- I did this on refugees from the Bosnian conflict and was surprised to get right through to a producer of 60 Minutes. It wasn't a political comment, I wanted to help a young woman I'd seen on a broadcast and the producer agreed to carry some winter gloves, tights, etc. for me -- she said to make the package small because she only had so much room. I guess my point is 'surely all of these people at the networks can't be liberals.' Maybe they are, but maybe some aren't -- our politicians, people in the media, they've got to hear from us.

LESTER HOLT: Did you ask him to drop the investigation?
LESTER HOLT: Did anyone from the White House?
DONALD TRUMP: No, in fact I want the investigation speeded up.
LESTER HOLT: Did anyone from the White House ask him to, to end the
DONALD TRUMP: [OVER TALK] No. No. Why would we do that? [OVER TALK]
LESTER HOLT: [OVER TALK] Any surrogates on behalf of the White House
DONALD TRUMP: Not that I know of. Look I want to find out if there was a problem with an election having to do with Russia. Or by the way, anyb- any anybody else. Any other country. And I want that to be so strong and so good. And I want it to happen. I also want to have a really competent, capable director. He’s not. He’s a showboat. He’s not my man or not my man. I didn’t appoint him. He was appointed long before me. But I want somebody who’s going to do a great job. And I will tell you we’re looking at candidates right now who could be spectacular. And that’s what I want for the FBI."

This may look innocuous, but it isn’t. Trump ties the removal of Comey to concerns about his ability to investigate the Trump campaign.
And now, today, the President of the United States falls back into a pattern that sounds an awful lot like intimidation of potential witnesses.

>>>Maybe I missed this, but Maria B. showed an interview she had with Rand Paul. He said he knows he was survielled and another Senator confided that he had also been surveilled. Probably Cruz or Rubio? So,when does the unmasking investigation start?

Caught this on the other thread and wanted to point out that when the Iran deal was being "negotiated" there was good evidence that the Obama Administration was surveilling groups opposed to it (the hook being that Israel was opposed to it and pro-Israeli groups as well). No one would mistake Rand Paul being pro-Israeli, but that controversy was concurrent with the announcements (summer of '15) of the field if memory serves, and Paul was opposed to the deal as it was reported. Not sure why the Obama Administration would have cared much about Rand Paul's vanity candidacy unless they thought he might have been slotted for VP.

So any missing posts, wonder what Soro's marching orders are.

There is no Trump involvement with Russia.
Russia does however, have ties to Bill the Rapist and Rodham, the Carpet muncher, errr carpet bagger.

I'm sure that's not how it USED to be taught at Pisser College.

Rich, in the summer of 15 most saw Trump as a vanity candidate too. Obama surveilled them because he thought he could get away with it.

That would be say August 2017?

point taken. I think they would have had to prioritize the threats to Clinton and the top 3 at the time were (if memory serves): Bush, Walker, and Cruz. Walker didn't make it out the gate, Bush wasn't a real threat to the uniparty, and Cruz-well what can you say. Most of the dirt didn't start until well into the campaign season on Trump (and the Russia crap was late summer 16 with article zero of the Trump Russia server)-think of it as a late season surge and the Obama Administration got sloppy in digging the dirt.

Anyway, I suppose I shouldn't talk (write?) because I was a believer that Trump was a vanity candidacy and at worst he was a ringer for the Clinton machine. The Sessions endorsement radically changed my view.

The day after Bill Clinton fired his FBI director, Vince Foster turned up dead at Fort Darcy Park.

rich, i was for anyone but Trump (or JEB or Kasich) from the get go. From what facts snuck through the disinfo / fantasy fog, they surveilled Trump since 15. They surveilled Senators since 15. Other candidates are a guess, but I think their priority was "all of the above"

my 'ole rusty trap of a brain still digging for links

this was one of the first articles I remember on the Trump-Russia case (July 4th as it were, just a day before Comey's presser) and the server story was a late October surprise stink bomb but the details go back to the summer as well.
