Trump should challenge them to do something about the budget since they seem so willing to do so.....

JiB, that Collins again... harumph.

James D.

Ross Douthat is a clown, and his words have no value.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

exdemocrat,

Here is a link to the guy's Twitter feed. He only deals in facts, not speculation. Any connections he makes are documented.

https://twitter.com/__0HOUR1_

It takes some time to catch up with him. He doesn't do threads, just streams of info with comments.

Porchlight

As I said on the last thread, I approve of Trump's tactics here and I support Sessions. I think it's all been gamed out between the two of them and is being done in advance of a crackdown, which is supposedly coming tomorrow according to WH anon, but appears may have leaked early with the news of Sessions investigating leakers.

I pray the Awan story will blow up bigly and those investigations will be forthcoming. Maybe will lead (finally) to some truth on Seth Rich.

Remember that it will be very difficult for ANY AG to both MAGA and prosecute Hillary/Obama/Rice/DNC/deep state. People can bitch about Sessions all they want but who else is qualified and ready to take the job right now? And will be able to do it they way the complainers want it done? Don't tell me Rudy, he's already come out and said he doesn't want the job and also that he supports Sessions.

Congress MUST get those appointments through. I'm hoping that's part of July 27th news. Maybe they'll be done in recess?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Good Morning. Rush in the beginning of Hour 2 mentions the Awan IT Brothers arrest, but he is so scattered today on so many topics that he is only covering it superficially so far.

Old Lurker

Porch, other thread "I think this task is monumentally difficult and time-consuming, and I get a little frustrated when people think it's a simple thing and should have been done by now..."

First of all, we know you mean me and have said so before. Second, I never said it is easy but these are no wimps Trump has hired. Third I do not agree with you and some others who seem to think because it is hard, it should take forever. Fourth if the holdovers are not just neutral grunts but in fact are active resisters in sensitive areas and working for the losing team, how is it not a day one job to take their ID's and walk them out of the building?

I may be too harsh, Porch, but you are way too accepting of allowing the enemy to undermine the will of the voters, and in so doing allowing the opposition to gain strength and momentum to overturn the entire campaign.

Old Lurker

"...very difficult for ANY AG to both MAGA and prosecute Hillary/Obama/Rice/DNC/deep state..."

Raise your hand if you think Mueller will prosecute somebody on Trump's team, having started from scratch and with no federal crime in sight, before Hilary, Obama, or Rice have a legal glove laid upon them.

Dave (in MA)

You can buy these

Old Lurker,

Read link above. Scaramucci is taking no prisoners and hints he will move beyond West Wing.

Heh.

Old Lurker

MM, one Scaramucci does not an administration make.

As someone who has cut in excess of 50% of staff when needed, I will simply point out that not everyone can or will pull the trigger. Sessions may be one of those otherwise good people who cannot cut the cancer out (and you will cut good people when doing so) and sleep at night. Tillerson did a quick cleanup at the surface, but not the thorough cleaning needed at state. Pruitt appears to be kicking ass in EPA. As the Chief Exec in the system, Trump may need to can Sessions and get someone in who will take action instead of surrender at first blush of resistence... a wartime AG. (pending any action he's taking without saying anything).

Extraneus

I'm in the camp that believes this whole thing is kabuki, intended to give Sessions a claim to independence from Trump while he pursues all the crooks we hate.

The alternative, that a drooling Trump is just pulling the wings off a fly and has no plan to deal with his enemies, makes no sense.

Buckeye

If Trump and Sessions are gaming everyone, that is the kind of collusion I can get exited about:)

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Of course not, Old Lurker. It's a glimmer of hope, though.

I hink Trump went in wanting to have a peaceful and unifying Administration, hnce some RNC people like Priebus and Spicer.

First signal this wasn't to be were the democrats dragging out every appointment. Then, Paul Ryan obviously had no real health care plan, even though he said so to Trump's face on live TV (I saw the tape of this).

As I said before, the going after his kids was the explosion point. I don't blame him, and my standing with whatever he decides was encouraged by listening to that canned ham Karl Rove just now, lecturing the President on how to manage and not cause division. (This is the same person who counseled W to ignore accusations of lying.)

I would like to see some ,ore New Yorkers brought in because they have the street smarts and the toughness to stand up to the Swamp. He brought on Michael Cohen earlier, and now Scaramucci. We could use some more in order to encourage the timid.

All will protect Obama with the exception of Hildebeast.

daddy

I had missed this pic from Miss M's 01:05 thread: Bil Clinton and Imran Awan:

They look like pretty close buddies if you ask me.

Rush now back to discussing peripherally the Awan IT arrest last night.

Rush sems to think that Trump's actions to diminish Session are intentional actions in order to make the Left and the Media come out in favor of Sessions integrity, which will then enable Sessions to have announced public support when he begins to finally pursue the IT Awan case and the leaks and all the rest. The media then will have a tough time telling us Sessions is a racist dirtbag all over again.

maryrose

Daddy:
Seems plausible to me.

Buckeye

CH, had an experience yesterday that you will "understand". Went to the bank to update info associated with some accounts, making sure joint ownership, beneficiaries and the like was accurate.

Met with a new guy named Charles Celebrezze. Didn't think much about it until we started talking about needs for trusts to protect assets of ageing parents, etc. Told me he was from Cleveland where his grandpa was an attorney and even his estate had been a mess. Said his dad's estate was even worse because "he spent Monday through Friday in Columbus because he was a politician"

Realized right then that switching bank branches was probably a good idea:)

Self-exiled (Mostly)

Old Lurker:

You will want to killfile this. Just do it and spare yourself torment.

Porchlight:

One problem with your theory --- Trump's tweets "prodding" Sessions would make it look like Sessions was caving to pressure to prosecute leakers. Imagine what a defense attorney will do with that, when a prosecution starts. And, imagine what happens to Sessions reputation as a fair arbiter of the law.

Jack is Back!

0hour1 has admitted that the CNN Imran Awan is not the IT guy.

Be careful Imran Awan is the Bill Jones of Pakistan. I'll bet the guy with Clinton is another Bill Jones:)

Buckeye, it used to be hard to find a ballot without a Celebrezze on it. Btw, the state is a better place for croaking that lowlife who raped and murdered a three year old girl in 1993.

The legal defense for leaking national security secrets is to blame the AG for agreeing with the President that such crimes should be prosecuted? I guess that would fly if the jury is from the Journolist.

CH, I will say that as Cleveland Democrats go, the Celebrezzes are probably far more tolerable than most.

Trump is coming to Long Island on Friday to talk about exterminating MS-13. He will be in Brentwood where most of the recent murders have taken place.

I believe Sessions may be with him.

It's been on a steady climb since about 10 minutes after Krugman predicted the market would never recover in the early morning hours after Trump won, but before Shrillary stopped throwing lamps and admitted she lost.

Buckeye

Btw, the state is a better place for croaking that lowlife who raped and murdered a three year old girl in 1993.

You know a guy is scum when even the libtard media refuses to come to his defense.

Usually we would be getting a continuous stream of stories about how flawed the lethal injections drugs are, etc.

Good riddance.

daddy

Tammy, unlike CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNBC, MSNBC, BBC, FRENCH24, NYTIMES, BLOOMBERG, WashingtonPost, LATIMES, WSJ, is all over the Awan case.

Momto2

Mark Steyn weighs in on the IT arrest:

https://www.steynonline.com/7997/flight-and-fancy

What we have here, for the benefit of American reporters who may be unfamiliar with the concept, is an actual news story...

Dave (in MA)

ABC actually mentions the case on the front page of their web site. The article only mentions Li'l Debbie passively, though.

Captain Hate

Wasn't today's lethal injection the first time a new three drug combination was used? I'm sure it was more humane than what the three year old endured by several orders of magnitude.

That Steyn piece had a link that should remind everybody what a noxious piece of filth Debby Downer is. If the Democrat party had any sense of self preservation it would be praying for a felony conviction to be rid of her.

daddy

Now Rush in Hour 3 is doing a bit on Bill Browder and explains Browder's threats to narrative of the Russian Babe and Glenn Simpson of FUSION/GPS, which is why Rush thinks the Dem's hastily cancelled his scheduled testimony in panic by using the "2 hour's from start of Business clause " in the House Rules.

Kudos to El Rushbo for keeping these things in the public domain to all his mind numbed robots.

Now he has back on to the arrest of Imran Awan.

Great! Rush says we will not see these stories in the MSM and we already know that is true.

Barbara

Porchlight

Self-exiled (Mostly),

Yes. That is definitely a big flaw in my theory.

OL,

I may be misreading, but it seems to me that you are alternating between what I would characterize as magical thinking (this task is easy, why aren't Trump's people doing it as fast as I want them to) and total pessimism (this task is impossible, we are doomed). Each time I respond to you on one, you respond with the other. My take is: this task is monumental and I hope it's possible but if it is, it will certainly require more than six months AND certain things may not be prioritized - by Sessions or by Trump - the way we want them to AND much of the progress may not be visible to us.

If you think every AG who doesn't move as quickly and efficiently as you desire should be fired and replaced, I am pretty sure you will never be satisfied. But if you have anyone in mind you think will be better than Sessions, I'd love to hear some names.

henry,

Firing people who are not performing and/or actual miscreants first requires identifying those people. If 80% of DoJ (I just made up that percentage) are Obama holdovers, and many of them are secretly leaking, isn't that going to be pretty challenging?

Second, I imagine firing in the private sector is much easier than firing federal employees with certain protections. That part I don't know much about, admittedly. But it is super hard to get fired around here, and I'm just a lowly public university employee. I know the executive branch appointees serve at the pleasure of the president, but does that apply to everyone in every agency, or do some employees require a lengthier documentation process in order to terminate? Again, I sincerely don't know.

Also, how is Sessions supposed to operate at full capacity when he can't get his appointed employees on board at all, let alone up to speed? And the rest of them all need firing? Is no one to work at DoJ at all?

Again, these are real world obstacles, no matter how quickly we keyboard commandos think things can get done.

Captain Hate

Tammy said the NYT ran an AP story on Awan.

daddy

I am told no questions yet at the White House Presser on the Awan Brothers arrest. That is not surprising. I am still listening to Rush's 3rd Hour since I think he has been valuable today in keeping so many balls in the air. Seems like the Press Corps is all worried about transgenders not being able to be in foxholes in Afghanistan.

Porchlight

Here is the latest from WH anon on tomorrow's (rumored) happenings. You may need to zoom in to read. Looks like DWS is a factor.

https://i.redd.it/jcr9ptpy7zbz.png

narciso

That's critical like the rack and pinion molecule to polish yo his, daddy.

daddy

Amazing. it is 10 to 1 more questions at the Presser on Transgenders in the Military than on anything else. How odd that in a roomful of nobody with a lick of Military experience the only thing that matters is transgenders getting to be in the Military.

Dave (in MA)

henry

Porchlight, having no staff might be an advantage (although government foolishly thinks spending money on more people is automatically better). Scaramucci seems to have no trouble laying down the law. It is a skill Sessions may lack. As for the civil service bs, not even Act 10 in WI went far enough there. However the political appointees could be summarily dismissed en masse. Any directions these holdovers give is counterproductive anyway.

narciso

So it turns out Ashcroft sessions 1.0 is,representing Qatar, which is Kevin bacon in this scenario.

Porchlight

henry, some staff are obviously required. I'm happy with Scaramucci so far but the WH comms dept is teeny tiny in comparison. Agree that the DoJ political appointees need to go asap.

Well, at any rate, if WH anon delivers, we'll have lots more to talk about tomorrow. He actually says to start watching social media tonight. We shall see.

daddy

From Dave's link above:

MassArt, which says it was unaware some of its ads were showing up on Breitbart, said today it will work with its ad networks to stop that.

It still tickles me that Berkeley disinvited Evolutionary Atheist Richard Dawkins from speaking, having been unaware that the author of "The God Delusion" could possibly appear offensive to Muslims.

Old Lurker

I understand what you are saying, Porch, I really do. I don't think I intend to ever say "the task is impossible and we are doomed" because that is two statements. The first, "the task is impossible", I do not accept at all because with sufficient will and sufficient leadership, the enough good people can indeed set us onto the right course. The second, "we are doomed" is something that I more than most do tend to believe, not because the first is impossible, but because I fear we do not have enough of the right people and right leadership with enough will to save us from ourselves.

THAT is why you get so much frustration from me, including with Sessions not because he is not a very good person, but because, in my opinion, he is not leading the DoJ, so all can see and gain faith and hope, in the radical new direction the voters intended. And that is demoralizing because it makes it too easy for those voters, on those who were watching, to say "what are you gonna do...nobody can drain this swamp" then they focus inward just on themselves. We have finally a leader who knows the way to salvation but there are just too many midgets tying him down with thousands of little ropes, and there are not enough on his team to cut those little ropes away so he can do the work we hoped he would do.

daddy

Repeating my dislike of this FOX Reporter Blake Burman. Watching him now it is all about Blake Burman. When I watch Catherine Herridge it is never about Catherine Herridge, it is about the story. I don't care if they continue to have White House Press briefings as long as the individual reporters asking questions have to wear theses on their heads:

Old Lurker

:-) Porch "henry, some staff are obviously required."

Why?

Seriously, the Federal Government could deliver all the service I think are appropriate and constitutional with no more than half the staff they have now. Maybe less than half.

Porchlight

WH anon:

"Schulz [DWS] hasn't been arrested yet" (in answer to a question)

"There will be many distractions"

"The transgender tweet is a distraction"

"I can't say too much, but expect some big names to be arrested soon"

"There will also be a happening tonight that will be the lead in. Wasserman Schultz was just the beginning."

"Check Twitter often tonight"

etc.

We'll see.

Old Lurker

be still my heart.

Porchlight

Seriously, the Federal Government could deliver all the service I think are appropriate and constitutional with no more than half the staff they have now. Maybe less than half.

I absolutely agree, henry. But "no more than half the staff" or "less than half" is considerably more than zero staff which is what I thought you were advocating - I may have misread.

OL,

Broadly speaking, I agree with your last comment. We are mostly on the same page. :)

henry

OK... pick up beer & popcorn on route home.

thanks porch. :)

Porchlight

Someone on The_Donald speculated that WH anon may be Sebastian Gorka. WH anon ends messages with "Cheers!" similar to the way Gorka does. Dunno. Gorka is pretty cool.

James D.

Is no one to work at DoJ at all?

Maybe that's what has to happen.

At a minimum, firing all the U.S. Attorneys - or maybe even better, all political appointees - would have been a good start.

I'd rather have DoJ doing nothing at all, than have it continue to carry out Obama's orders on autopilot (as it's still doing in some areas).

Porchlight

Welcome, henry. And please don't blame me if it all falls through. :)

But seriously, though, whether or not WH anon is for real, between the Sessions stuff, DWS/Awan, and everything else breaking this week, some kind of covfefe is clearly brewing.

henry

porch, since I make software automation bots for a living... I lean closer to no staff than some staff. One of those mileage may vary things.

Porchlight

Sorry, James D., but there have to be some staff to work on the good stuff. Such as the travel ban.

Agree that Obama orders being carried out on autopilot is a very bad thing.

Old Lurker

Porch "Sorry, James D., but there have to be some staff to work on the good stuff. Such as the travel ban."

Wrong again! :-)

If there is no staff at State handing out entry visas in the first place, then there is no call for staff to write rules banning them.

jimmyk

today's lethal injection

So I infer from this that this scum got nearly 25 years after his crime? It almost defeats the purpose of the death penalty. I hope he was brutalized in prison, as child molesters usually are.

jimmyk

Someone at Althouse pointed out that Trump's "new" transgender policy is the same as the policy under Zippy. The change was to take place after that punk left office, and Trump's decision merely undoes that. So respond to all the whinging journalists, "This was Obama's policy, were you questioning him about it?"

Tom Maguire
Tammy said the NYT ran an AP story on Awan.

Thanks, and duly updated. The timestamp is 11:58 AM, so much later than my vigorous denunciation.

Jane (Stand against the Coup)

Well I've been sitting on the edge of my seat all day so I hope you guys are right. Unless Awan is confessing like crazy it seems awful quick to get DWS - unless Sessions has been all over it for a while.

Buckeye

since I make software automation bots for a living...

Yes henry, but someone has to peel the heat shrink off the box:)

DebinGA

Hey, y'all. Just dropping in to share new-to-me info I discovered today re contacting your Rep. To send him/her an email, you must now add the designated 4 digit code after your required zipcode. I don't know mine and haven't ever found it necessary to add it to mailings. I wondered if it was just my Rep, but checking Paul Ryan's House site, he requires it too but, unlike my guy, he at least offers a live link to the USPS where it can be found. I can think of no reason this extra step should be required to send your Rep an email other than to make it much harder for them to hear from us. I called and complained to the DC office of our guy, and others might want to do so too.

-peter

Is the iotwreport a reliable blog? Because they are reporting that Awan worked as a reporter for CNN

maryrose

I am optimistic about the future.
The Russia nonsense has run its course.
We will sanction them and NK and Iran and move on.
The Dems goose is cooked.
With Fusion, DWS and Nunes ready to expose the wiretapping Dems are on the run.
Chris Murphy on Squawk Box was apoplectic about a repeal and reform Obamacare bill.He is the Connecticut senator.
I expected Manchin to vote with the Repubs yesterday.
No profile in courage there.

daddy

I think there are 2 guys named Imran Awan---one a reporter of some sort and one the Master Intel guy for the Dems. That's what I took from JiB's comment above about Bill Jones or Tom Smith---simply a common name among Pakistani's, and we are conflating the one for the other.

Porchlight

I think the IOTW blog is a joke site, -peter.

They had the funniest thing during the Dan Rather/TANG memo saga - a parody letter from Bush's TANG superior. I've searched and searched but I can't find it again.

Another Bob

DebinGA, they all build mailing databases for use in their campaigns.

I suspect they solicit the ZIP+4s by default to make the non-official-business mailings cheaper. (Even though there's commercial software that larger mailers usually buy that will appropriately cleanse the data that way.)

Don't think there's much that's nefarious about it.

Porchlight

I finally found it. :)

daddy

Since we are talking sensible Military policy changes, anyone know when we might get a sensible judgment on the AWOL traitor Beau Bergdahl?

Tom R

Between Scott Adams, Thomas Wictor and the WH Anon guy on 4chan there sure does seem to be a lot of optimism that Trump is about to open up a can of whoop ass on the Swamp.

DebinGA

The nefarious part on my Rep's part was failing to add a live link or at least direct constituents to the USPC site where the 4 additional digits could be found. No such info was provided by design imo, and this from a Rep whose district is so safely R that no Dem was on the ballot for any local office.

Extraneus

I posted a link earlier to the piece IOTW linked to, peter. It went to here, but someone said earlier that the CNN guy was a different Imran Awan:

The AP laugher/gloss-over we received at 10:24 was this:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz has fired an information technology staffer following his arrest on a bank fraud charge at a Virginia airport where he was attempting to fly to Pakistan.

Wasserman Schultz spokesman David Damron says Irman Awan was fired by the Florida Democrat Tuesday.

Awan's attorney, Chris Gowen, confirmed that his client was arrested at Dulles Airport Monday. He says Awan was cleared to travel and had informed the House of his plans to visit his family before the scheduled trip.

Gowen says the federal bank fraud count stems from a "modest real estate matter" and is motivated by anti-Muslim bigotry. He's confident Awan "will soon be able to clear his name and get on with his life."

An arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 21, according to Gowen.

I wrote back, asking them to look into Gowen, the DA, and the past context for Awan.

I said, “So, is this article shallow on purpose or because AP didn’t want to google past news?”

derwill, yet another adorable, irredeemable deplorable

One thing about the Awan case. . . They obviously have had him under some kind of surveillance since they were able to get to the airport in time to stop him from fleeing the country. Which in turn suggests that some kind of investigation has been going on under the radar. His attempt to flee might have precipitated his arrest, but they had enough of their ducks lined up get an arrest warrant in time to stop him from leaving the country--which again suggests that there has been some kind of investigation happening for awhile now.

And that what is going on surprised the Deep State yesterday--because DWS would have been given a heads-up for sure if the Deep State had known Awan was about to be arrested, and yet she didn't fire him until the poop had already hit the fan.

Porchlight

Glad someone else enjoyed it, Dave (in MA). It made me giggle bigtime back in 2004 when the world of internet humor was considerably smaller, especially on the right.

Porchlight

Hi derwill! Great catch about being able to nab him at the airport and DWS not having the heads up.

No link, but someone on T_D posted this from Hannity's radio show a few minutes ago:

"I've had many meetings in DC recently that I can't talk about now. I will go home tonight knowing the deep state is in more trouble than they ever imagined. Tic tock."
