Hugh Hewitt suggests that 90% of the country understands that 90% of the DACA-dents are great people that do great things and 90% of those great people are needed here because they have a skillset that 90% of legal residents don't have. He concludes, "we have all these 90% stats floating around surely congress will save DACA with 90% approval. Oh, and I think Chris Coons(D) is brilliant!"

He calls it his "90% rule."

Miss Marple the Deplorable

squaredance,

My perspective on this is different than yours. Perhaps this is because I live in the Midwest and not California.

I would gently point out to you that the "semantics" you say I am talking about are simply definitions as commonly understood by most Americans.

We have a serious problem with illegals here. No one is denying that. Trump himself in past tweets prior to running indicated the problem with them voting and generally being a drain on the country.

This is a problem that has been allowed to fester since the Reagan era. Both parties are guilty.

These are the least guilty of all of the illegals here, since they came here involuntarily. Yes, they have illegal status. However, if Congress can rectify the situation for these 800,000 then there is room to work on getting out those who are adults and solely responsible for being here.

I would recommend cutting off welfare for anyone in the country illegally, but places like California won't do it. I certainly would cut off any federal program if a state cannot prove they are doing adequate screening.

If there are indeed 11 million here, there has to be a strategy to get them to leave of their own volition. There definitely has to be a way to prevent them from voting.

DACA is part of a bigger problem. I simply don't understand why you think making Congress handle it rather than posing on camera is a bad thing. Either they handle it or they don't.

rse

I think it is more like 10-20% are great people and the rest fully intend to live a life leeching off the prosperity of the American country their parents came to illegally. Watching the marches as these young people have a "you can't touch me" mentality just does not create any expectation that they intend to do anything other than stay here to become la raza activists.

squaredance

I think that is is more like 50% of the country understand it is a sham and has absolutely nothing to do with them being "Great People" or not; 35 to 40% of the country are either in the Nomenklatura/Uniparty or are their patrons/client/voting block, and the rest of the country are mindless fools.

Again, this has nothing at all to do with "skills", real or imagined (and they are for the most part imagined), or how "nice" they are.

If they are so fabulous then let them go back to their countries and raise up their nations. That will make for less immigration.

This has everything to do with destroying America, particularly white America, and keeping these vipers in power.

This business of "wonderful people" with "skills we need' is nothing but an intentional red herring meant to distract from what is going on.

If we cannot stand the line of this with a GOP Congress and a GOP President, then there is really no political solution left.

Trump should be crushing this revolt over DACA, but instead he seems to be encouraging it.

And it really would not be that hard to crush it. Just explaining the money flow from Wall St. to the CoC, to the political class might even be enough. Going after some key players would certainly stop it.

Believe me, this is a hill to fight or die on.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Well, I am going to get some work done before Sessions speaks.

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

Doesn't matter if 10 or 100% are model citizens who take in stray puppies; the law is what matters. If it doesn't we are an arbitrary nation of arbitrary men and are no longer exceptional.
Having said that I would not surprised to see those already here grandfathered in and Trump going along with it. Not sure how that shakes out. Reagan agreed to amnesty and survived.

rse

MM-congress will handle it by enshrining daca into a statute so that the rule of law and uniparty agenda is that we owe them minimal levels of support FOREVER.

That your statutory responsibility to meet the "needs' of Dreamers and their offspring is no different than americans who have been here for generations and have recently fallen on hard times.

They will vote anyway because like tony blair's vision of immigrants one party sees this as part of a new working electoral majority. If there is a statutory obligation to meet human needs which is what the various pieces of legislation and federal agency actions that remain in place laid out, then that illegal immigrant and his family bring a right to federal dollars on a monthly basis to whatever geogrpahic area they settle in.

Lots of Rep's like that vision of an economic future for currently impoverished or rural aresa. It's not sustainable but political parasites will auction off all of our futures for the political present of votes and a right to federal dollars per capita.

 joan

Clarice,
Yes, of course you're right about that cop and his motive for insisting on drawing the blood. As I read the article and then watched the video, I kept wondering about that particular man and the reasoning behind what he had just done. I won't say he was 'brutal', but the way he grabbed that nurse . . . it was wrong.

Gave me quite a few minutes of reflection on the police and the law.

rse

Reagan survived amnesty, but California is proof that the US itself was gravely damaged and forever changed by his amnesty.

James D.

joan @ 10:42

No matter which way you look at that incident, it's inexcusable. The cop was supposedly qualified to draw blood himself, so he HAD to know the law, and that what he was ordering the nurse to do was illegal. As did his supervisor. If they didn't, that's gross incompetence or willful ignorance, and either one ought to disqualify them from wearing badges, carrying guns or having any power over their fellow citizens.

What I want to know is, why do the good cops, who we are told over and over again are the vast majority, tolerate this kind of garbage from their colleagues?

That sort of looking away and tolerance of incompetence (or outright criminality) wouldn't be acceptable in most other walks of life. It ought to be even more unacceptable for people given the power to arrest or even kill their fellow citizens.

The debate here this morning on daca is just another example of how f*cked up everything has become during my adult years. Lawbreakers, the corrupt, the people I was supposed to trust to represent me all seem to be spineless in the face of the democrats, the media, etc.

I keep getting appeals from different senators and representatives -- because I donated several hundred dollars to Walker two or three times. I read things like this, and I just think 'blah, blah, blah.' Cotton was the only politician I was thinking about donating to this time, but I don't know that I'll even do that. Think I'll send our money to the American Humane Association or Smile Train. I've given to Smile Train for years. I had a classmate who had a cleft palate all through grade school; his parents were divorced (father remarried, lived in another state) and mother couldn't afford operation; father wouldn't pay for it until my friend was in his teens. Anyway, here's part of Gowdy's second appeal in less than ten days -- he says I can always count on him, and he wants to count on me:

Joan, as you know, I try to hold everyone in power in Washington accountable for their actions - which hasn't always made people happy. Though we are months away from Election Day, many are already targeting me for defeat, and no one would love to see me leave Congress more than Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff.

You can always count on me to stand up and tell the truth - no matter how angry that makes people. So, Joan, if you want me to be able to stay fighting and speaking up for our values then please let me know if I can count on you right now.

He sounded like a madman, yelling real loud about how we have always had an open policy on immigration, which is a flat-out lie. This would not be how Murdoch wants to present pro-illegals to the public.

My suspicion is that we are going to see a lot of obnoxious demonstrations and this will only make Congress MORE nervous about passing the bill.

Ryan and a few can virtue signal all they want, but getting a constitutional law passed isn't going to be that easy. It will also have to pass the threshold of the Senate and I think there will be difficulties there, too. Midterms are cming.

Good Morning!

OAN (One America News) just ran a nice segment explaining that Regnery Publishing, a Conservative leaning book publishing outfit, has pulled the New York Times listing and New York Times recommendations from the covers of all of their Regnery published Book Covers.

The story went into detail explaining how Regnery knows the New York Times is lying about Best Seller rankings, and gave some specific examples of Regnery published books by the likes of Dinesh DeSouza and Michael Savage, which outsold all the books on the NYTimes Best Seller list for particular weeks, yet Dinesh's book was listed way back in the pack and Savage's Book was never even mentioned.

The story also mentioned how the reviews are generally unfair to Conservative books, and also that the NYTimes refuses to divulge how they come up with their rankings if not based on honest sales numbers, since in Dinesh's case he doubled the total amount of sales of the books listed above his for the given time period. The segment finished up reporting that books by NYTimes employees (Freidman, Kruggy, etc) somehow always got rave reviews and stayed on the list much longer than Book Sales themselves would warrant, thus giving the false impression that America is much more infatuated with Leftist Books than is the case in reality.

Standard stuff, and nothing none of us here don't already know---the New York Times lies constantly for partisan advantage, but nice to see them called on it.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders: ...The main effect of todays announcement is that Work Permits and other Government Benefits are being gradually phased out, but rather than leave DACA recipients and the men and women of Immigration Enforcement in confusing limbo while the DACA program was challenged by States in the same Court that struck down another of the previous Administrations unLawful Immigration Orders earlier this year, President *Obama Trump is laying out a responsible 24 month phase out. No permits will be expiring for another 6 months, and permits will remain active for up to 2 full years. The President was elected partly on his promise to deliver meaningful Immigration Reform that puts the jobs, wages and security of the American People first. He is delivering on that promise every day, and he has put forward serious proposals to Congress that would responsibly end Illegal Immigration, prevent VISA Overstays, remove dangerous criminals, protect American jobs and wages, and create a Merit Based System that grows our Middle Class...

*Sarah goofed up and said Obama, not Trump. Then laughed and came back and said Trump:)
