What's wrong with the Indians? Only 9 of 10 and 23 of 24. A slump!

Thomas Collins

Meanwhile, the Baby Bombers are rolling, but the Bosox are hanging on. I can't wait for the TM one and done thread when the Yanks entertain the Twins or Angels in the wild card round.

Thomas Collins

This morning's consensus at the health club at which I swim: Patriots had BETTER win today or else. I didn't ask or else what. Perhaps or else Patriots Nation comes to terms with the reality that the Pats are going to need to do it this year without peak Tom Brady.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Thomas Collins,

Bar owners in Indianapolis are concerned about the Colts season being a stinker, and thus reducing their revenue.

Top diplomat says closing US Embassy in Cuba 'under review'

The "top diplomat" is the damn Secretary of State!

Captain Hate

Relax, TC; I think I read elsewhere that in the years they won Super Bowls the Pats started the season with a loss.

Thomas Collins

Jacoby Brissett, the second year pro whom the Colts acquired from the Pats a few weeks ago, is starting for the Colts, MM. Hopefully for the Indianapolis bar owners there will be interest in how the youngster performs.

Thomas Collins

They were 0-2 and 1-3 in 2001, CH. But as Yogi Berra might say, 40 is 40 (although the Pats' leaky defense last week is probably more of a concern than Brady).

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Thomas Collins,

I sure hope he does well. Luck seems to me to have been overpaid for his value to the team. (Not counting the injury which has sidelined him.)

He is remarkably lacking in charisma and seems to me to be rather meh on the field. I am not an expert, though, and also am only a casual watcher.

Captain Hate

Yes that defense got lit up by HOF Alex Smith.

Texas Liberty Gal

IG - That's why they hate him using twitter; not because he says outrageous, scary things, but because he short circuits their self replicating lies before they even get to their first cell division.

I know!!! That's why I love them😉

The SJW apocalypse might have begun because I just heard a college DJ say Yo La Tengo is really boring live.

It seems I don't have to decide whether I'm ignoring NFL until this evening. I missed last week. Without talk radio yammering about it*, pro football rarely crosses my mind.

* I got tired of the local dude's crying over soiled togae on cue from whatever MSM/#NeverTrump attack of the day was going on. A functioning CD player is much better right now. :)

Re: Fidel's Revenge from Miss M's report @11:22 -

At least 21 Americans have been medically confirmed to have suffered harm in Havana. Tillerson previously called it "health attacks" but the State Department now prefers to call them "incidents." The cause and culprit haven't been determined.

Would John F'n Kerry have informed us about the harming of our diplomats (and others)? His worldview of international relations, lifted straight from his father's book "Star-Spangled Mirror," leads me to know he would not have.

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

I'm not following it either TLG, so you can join me in detention;

MM said;--Ignatz,

How do you KNOW he has no intention?--

Because he said he doesn't.
He isn't touching entitlements, which are the water flooding the Swamp. They'll pick off a gator or a cottonmouth swimming through the slime occasionally but they don't want to even acknowledge the water around their [and our] chins.
He champions SS and medicare. No point against him; very few conservatives are serious about entitlements either. It's some achievement for the ages if the GOP can require a tiny bit of work in order to receive unconstitutional welfare and medicaid. A minuscule achievement undone by Barry with his pen.

Problem is the Swamp in its totality is not just anti-constitutional, its anti-math. It will continue until it disastrously can't.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Ignatz,

Speaking as someone who lives on $800 a month, I sort of have little interest in curbing Social Security.

I do not consider The Swamp to be the entitlements. That is a separate issue.

Captain Hate

At least in Trump you have someone with knowledge of how wealth is created, which was completely lost on Preznit Historic First who didn't even understand what a job is.

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

1. No one is talking about kicking those off SS who are on it already.
2. All of us would have a lot more to fall back on had we not been compelled to send 12-15% of our income to Uncle Ponzi's retirement fund the last umpteen years.
Your kids and grandkids will enjoy a delightful negative ROI on their "contributions".

Miss Marple the Deplorable

ChiTown Lurker found this thread on Twitter. It is VERY interesting!

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

Don't get me wrong, Trump has exceeded my wildest expectations. Could he just get done what he wants to get done he would rank as a truly great and historic president.

But the problem of Leviathan would remain and it's Leviathan that is killing the Constitution and Federalism and making it possible for progs in CA and MA and NY and IL to keep marching down the goldbrick road.

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

Gotta go.
But before I do read the Hill article about Trump's aids struggling to pay to defend themselves against Mueller.
Typical prog chutzpah; they blame Trump for not paying for their attorneys!
Not only do they not blame the effing witch hunt and witch hunters, they actually seriously suggest Trump should be paying the legal bills of guys under investigation for supposedly helping him. Not even Wile E. Coyote would step in that trap.

Amran's secret server:

The secret server was connected to the House Democratic Caucus, an organization chaired by then-Rep. Xavier Becerra. Police informed Becerra that the server was the subject of an investigation and requested a copy of it. Authorities considered the false image they received to be interference in a criminal investigation, the senior official said.LUN

I think Clarice had posted it on the last thread.

IMO, every bit of classified material that was exposed to the US House during the Awans worked there was compromised.

Whoever wrote that letter screed up the analogy to TJ and his owning slaves. He wrote the Dec of Independence, but he was in Paris when the Constitution was written. His good friend James Madison was the lead player on that.

My experience with Oxford from having studied there while in college to dealing with its role in numerous initiatives I track is that Social Justice and Transforming the world that exists in the name of the Marxist Humanist vision runs as thick there as in the Ivies.

The letter doesn't ring true, even though I largely also agree with the sentiment. No one with a knowledge of history reveres rhodes anyway. He has been a known bad actor for a long time now.

Clarice-you are now a 'pick' in the masthead at powerline

You know, the best teacher I had in high school was my English lit teacher, a retired Marine.

As we covered each period, he would assume the character of a person from that period (Cavalier, Victorian, Roundhead, Elizabethan, etc.) and make us argue with the character about issues of their time.

It was a very good lesson in how historical times change people's thinking, and why one cannot use 20th (now 21st) century thinking to judge people of prior times.

Mercy Monarchs (i.e. Lion Royalty:) beat Greenport-Mattituck-Southold 30-14 for victory No. 2. First time since 2012 they have started 2-0. Also, celebrated 50 years of Mercy football.

We had our Green & Gold mass today at the football field. All the fall sport teams (Football, Crew, Girl's Tennis, Cross Country and Volleyball) showed up wearing their uniform shirts or jersey's. Then brunch in the cafeteria. Kids are all psyched up because of the start. Girl's tennis was Long Island Division IV champs and moved into Division III but are still winning.

Play Mt.Sinai next Saturday afternoon at Mt. Sinai.

Good Morning,

On catch up some link on the previous thread led me to The New Republic. I won't link the story but somebody over there named Clio Chang is big time Anti-Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and the reason is because Clio thinks Sarah Huck is too good at what she does:)

Examples: Sarah Huckabee Sanders Is Worse Than Sean Spicer
Yes, the press secretary is better at her job. But that is bad news for the rest of us....

---Sarah Huckabee Sanders, whose style as press secretary is less shrill than Spicer, and less pelvic-thrusting bravado a la The Mooch. But that’s what makes her the most insidious of them all.

---Sanders reads from a book of Christian devotionals prior to every press briefing, according to The New York Times.

---Above all, she provides cover for her racist, despotic boss.

---Sanders’s specialty is to obscure. She uses her motherhood, in particular, to deflect uncomfortable questions and relate to reporters on a human level...

---She is superior to her predecessors, and thus infinitely worse for the country. This is why her placid gaze is so disturbing

Here's Clio and her unplacid gaze:

A Moron author on what Bezos's original company is doing with Curb Dive's doorstop:

In any case, from an author's point of view, watching the marketing and Amazon's willing participation in the deception is depressing. I could have a bestseller if I could afford to hire thousands of people to stand in line and buy my book, too. I could have 900 5-star reviews on my book if I had a cultic-following of true believers who'd praise my work without even having held it in their hands, too.

I get that Amazon is about sales, and low-star reviews diminish sales, but not being able to rely on reviews hurts sales, too.

CH,

Frederick is on the JV squad but all our JV suit up for Varsity games and 2 of them have played in them. One, the coaches son, who is pretty damn good, does a good job at WR and DB. By suiting up our JV, they get front row view of the plays, techniques, what goes right and what goes wrong. They get everything the varsity gets except for most, not playing.

We're the only school who does that.

You will never, ever, in a dozen lifetimes, ever see that Oriel College letter (real or fake) issued by a US university with possibly the exception of Hillsdale but then again they most likely would never have to do so.
