I'd say Hillary can kiss my ass, that is a close to love as she gets. Tough.

Extraneus

Funny how that Hillary quote never saw the light of day until now, isn't it?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

UGH.

Here's Jeb Bush on Cavuto. "As a conservative..." blah blah blah.

Let's revisit his immigration stance again.

Cavuto is really trying to stir up trouble, following the approved Murdoch line.

Momto2

I got the email, Robin. Thanks so much!

Very impressed by the snippets from Bannon's interview.

This is really alarming; I think we are going to witness a huge disaster, maybe the greatest our nation has dealt with in many, many years.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Momto2,

I REALLY want to watch that interview. Bannon gets a lot of flack from some quarters but he understood Trump's message and was loyal, whcih is more than I can say about 90% of the House and Senate.

jimmyk

This is a 'tough love' problem - if you tell people they will be treated harshly they are less likely to test you. But if they do test you, well, hmm, who wants to be harsh to an innocent ten year old?

This issue comes up again and again in different forms, and is a good litmus test for conservative vs liberal brain wiring. Althouse had a lively discussion about whether Leslie van Houten should be paroled. The upshot was that "life in prison" as an alternative to death penalty means, "Threaten life in prison without parole, but then after enough time has passed, liberals will decide 'They no longer pose a threat.'"

Extraneus

What's so harsh about reuniting innocent children with their loving parents, even if they poor kids have MS13 tattoos on their necks?

Janeprobably about 10 minutes after getting there

Well that Conservative treehouse map makes me officially toast.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Jane,

Sorry for the bad news, but I am very glad you are safe.

Maybe the storm will change direction or weaken. I certainly hope so!

 narciso.

Happy birthday, marple

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Why thank you, narciso!

I am very happy to say that I share this date with Secretary James Mattis!

Happy Birthday, Miss Marple, May you enjoy many more.

Jane, just talked to my mom. She is staying put in Naples (beachfront, mandatory evac). The eyewall is now expected to go up the coastline over Naples. Surge 6-9 feet. Anything west/south of 41 (Tamiani Trail) expected to flood. Mom's building is at 12 ft, with generators etc. this does look bad for Ft Myers, Santiva etc. Naples expects eye landfall at 8am Sunday per local emergency broadcasts.

henry

Happy Birthday Miss M!

maryrose

Happy Birthday MM!
Saw Cavuto/Jeb interview and did not think there was a push on Bush or any undermining of President Trump.
Jen said positive things about the funding deal.
North Carolina rep who is republican voted against flood funding his own state might need.
He is not getting re-elected after that faux pas.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

maryrose,

I kept hearing "I'm a conservative" several times, which is what got my dander up, I guess.

There is NO doubt, however, that Cavuto was trying to draw him into criticism.

James D.

Happy birthday, MM!!!!!!

Marlene

Well, hubby just said some bad words. :(
When we decided to buy in FL,hubby really wanted to be on Pine Island, because it is kayak heaven. Pine Island is north of Sanibel and Captiva and off the beaten path. All those islands will be devastated.
henry,we'll be thinking of your family. The daughter is so relieved that her in-laws are in DC,because they probably wouldn't have evacuated. Jane, have a couple of drinks tonight. :)

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

Could someone repost that list OL did a couple of days ago about the men vs womn thing?
Couldn't find it.

Marlene

MM,have a very happy birthday!

henry

Thanks Marlene!

maryrose

Cavuto is not going to be a happy camper until the tax deal is done.
He is laser focused on that.
Giving credit where it is due, Jen is responsible for getting buildings in Florida ready for a hurricane such as this one.
If former politicians have done some good in their lifetimes I will not try to diminish them.
Supposedly even Howard Dean was a good governor of Vermont.
That includes the Bush family who all made their contributions.
As to the thread topic ,Hillary being hypocritical and denying her past positions wrt anything is just her being an ---hole.
Big debate topi which she clubbed during 2008 primary was drivers licenses
For illegals which she flip flopped on.

maryrose

Should be Jeb and flubbed.

Marlene

Ha.Shep just said when people say south FL,they think of Miami, but south FL is also Naples,Bonita Springs,Ft Myers, etc. Hubby yelled at the TV, no sh*t a**hole!

Janeprobably about 10 minutes after getting there

Already started Marlene - when you are about to lose everything you worked for for 65 years, it's a bit unnerving. And since I was away I didn't get to plan. My friend has the deed, the insurance papers, the cash and Kiwi.

A friend offered his house on Martha's Vineyard - with all the liberals, which could be nice for awhile, but I have no idea what to do next.

Happy Birthday MM.

Iggy:

Subject: MEN ARE JUST HAPPY PEOPLE

What do you expect from such simple creatures? Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take care of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack. You can never be pregnant. You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. You can wear NO shirt to a water park.

Car mechanics tell you the truth. The world is your urinal. You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky. You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt. Wrinkles add character. Wedding dress - $5,000. Tux rental - $100. People never stare at your chest when you're talking to them. New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet. One mood all the time. Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat. You know stuff about tanks.

A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase. You can open all your own jars. You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness. If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend. Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack. Two pairs of shoes are more than enough. You almost never have strap problems in public. You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes. Everything on your face stays its original color The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You only have to shave your face and neck.

You can play with toys all your life. One wallet and one pair of shoes - one color for all seasons. You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look. You can 'do' your nails with a pocket knife. You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache. You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24in 25 minutes.

Jane, I just wish the storm would disappear. I just read a heartbreaking note on CTH from a guy who is pretty sure he's going to die!

I am so glad you got the papers and the insurance and Kiwi with a friend, and I am so thankful you are safe. I will offer prayers that your house is spared.

Cavuto is not just hard to listen to, he is cancer-inducing. He and Gasparino today were toxic, calling Bannon and Trump drama queens.

I was in the car and pulled over to tweet: You want speculative drama queens? Listen to @TeamCavuto and @CGasparino. I want news, not their opinions, so I change the channel.

Extraneus

I agree, sb. No need to stir up the hive while he's trying to make nice with Nance and Chuckie.

 narciso.

It has to be one that only accomodates pets and is not special needs.

I told you I haven't trusted Scotty nelson for years since her poorwomans Katherine parker routine.

Marlene

OL... :) The daughter's in-laws trip to DC is totally by chance, because they had planned the trip before the hurricane became an issue.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

sbw,

Agree about Lerner. I refuse to get upset about this because there is so much going on that Lerner is way down on my priority list.

People forget that prosecuting her will open up the tax returns crap again, and I want to give the media no ammo right now. This is also why Kosiken is still there, I think.

It is my opinion that Trump has done nothing wrong with his taxes except use every legal loophole. However, releasing those taxes would unleash a media assault comprised of insinuation of illegality and ginned-up public envy, which would delay all of the other things that need to be accomplished.

This is big-time stuff Trump is dealing with, and getting upset about Lerner is counterproductive.

Captain Hate

Cavuto used to be pretty funny ridiculing BOR's almost complete ignorance of economics. Once you remove that low hanging fruit, I guess he was tapped out.

Jane

Narc, a friend in Miami just message me that he is staying. I hope he lives in one of the rare hills in Miami. You need to get out, asap.

hrtshpdbox

I think we are going to witness a huge disaster..

I'm sure that's true; still, the link below that Drudge has up now indicates landfall further west than I expected - if it's accurate, the worst of it wouldn't be in Miami and the more populated east coast of the state.

hrtshpdbox

I've got an old friend on Longboat Key who I haven't spoken with for some time - I need to drop him a line.

Happy Birthday, Miss Marple.

Captain Hate

It is my opinion that Trump has done nothing wrong with his taxes except use every legal loophole.

First of all, Trump's taxes are done by a team of bean counters and lawyers. Second, even assuming he has to make decisions on handling the accounting of some things one way or another, his team is not going to sign off on something illegal (even though the IRS has many complex areas on which they will not give you definitive guidance if you ask them, his legal sharks know how the tax courts have ruled). This has been a massive snipe hunt from the get go which the MFM dumbasses, most of whom fill out a 1040EZ, have no idea what they're talking about.

jimmyk

Once you remove that low hanging fruit, I guess he was tapped out.

I wonder if it was the heart surgery. They say that can cause a personality change.

Narc, a friend in Miami just message me that he is staying.

I just heard from a friend in Miami Beach who's staying. They're in an apartment building right on the beach.

Captain Hate

I wonder if it was the heart surgery. They say that can cause a personality change.

Did not know that. Yeah I'd hopscotch that to the front of the line.

 narciso.

Well those hills are only on CSI Miami, when they shot in la.

Yes its a counterintuitive thing that the strongest winds are in the northeast corner.5

Marlene

Narc,I just read on our Next Door site that Gov.Scott has urged all shelters and hotels/motels to accept pets. Yogi is small enough and I assume you have a crate? You should be able to go to any shelter. Good Luck!

jimmyk

Yes, FL is flat as a pancake. I heard someone say that the highest point is Splash Mountain in Disney World.

squaredance

Happy Birthday MM.

hrtshpdbox

CH, the left is thinking they'll find deductions like "gift to Vladimir Putin, 5 million dollars" itemized. If they ever got their hands on the returns, once the could deal with their disappointment they'd be sure to find ex-IRS guys who'd quibble about the interpretive legality of various entries on the returns (as the IRS is wont to do anyway). Only prevailing fact to consider here is that the IRS audits Trump every year, as a matter of course because his return is so large, and he hasn't been accused of tax dodges.

henry

Jimmyk, given the fuel situation it's too late to evac north. The only question is can you reach a safer spot inland? If you are south of Allegator Alley, damn near anything is better than staying put. Points north depend on elevation and whether you are on a barrier island or inland, and the age of your structure / hurricane updates. My mom's building is on a barrier island on the north side of Naples, gulf to the west, bay to the east. I hope Cuba scrubs power off this thing (and Raul & friends get washed out of existence).

jimmyk

Meanwhile Jennifer Lawrence proves yet again that you can be a talented actor and dumb as a box of rocks.

jimmyk

they'd be sure to find ex-IRS guys who'd quibble about the interpretive legality of various entries on the returns

Nah, they'll just scream about the percent of his income he paid in taxes, no matter what it is (assuming it's less than 100%).

Captain Hate

Exactly, box; with as many properties as he has, he has depreciation schedules out the wazz that will get red flagged every time for verification. The returns have to be massive; probably multiple boxes delivered by a courier that costs more than my gross income.

jimmyk

given the fuel situation it's too late to evac north.

These are wealthy people who have an apartment in Manhattan. They could have left a week ago, but evidently they're not too concerned. Even if it's true that that coast won't be as hard hit as the Keys and west coast, they wouldn't have known that a week ago.

Barbara

It's nice to see Charles Payne back at Fox Business News.

Happy Birthday, Miss Marple! Hope you have a great day and an even better year to come.

Jane, I hope things are not as bad as you suspect with your home. You're safe and that's what matters most.

I'm so exhausted with the attacks on President Trump. Sometimes I feel like we're the last bastion of defense for the country.

Threadkiller

Trying to find out if it is middle aged white male Christians doing the price gouging at the Florida 7-11s.

My bet is they are middle somethings of a moderate nature.

Captain Hate

Barbara, imo that's the right way to think about it; and why I react so severely to past betrayals.

What was Charles Payne's transgression, Barbara?

Threadkiller

IMO, "price gouging" is a political crime for higher office seekers to soapbox on.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Captain Hate,

I don't care if I am the last person standing supporting Trump.

The man left a comfortable life, has put up with all sorts of crap attacks from the media, has risked his business and his life.

He didn't abandon us, so I will not abandon him.

I think this is my Scot blood. We are a loyal group.

We merry band of Birthers, MM!

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Thanks, Bubarooni!

My granaddaughter caled me from DePauw. She is SO happy there! She got to hear the Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai speak last week. There are all sorts of important speakers coming over the year due to an endowment by DePauw. In the past they had Margaret Thatcher, so that gives you an idea of the program.

She also got 100% on her first 2 quizzes, is writing and taking photos for the paper, and has a radio show! She also has made lots of friends.

I was SO happy to hear this. She's a very smart kid but is a bit sensitive, so I was sort of worried she might not make it. It sounds like she is doing great, so that is the best birthday present from her I could have!

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I believe that he had an affair with a woman who occasionally appeared on Fox News. She claimed that after she terminated the affair, her appearances on Fox stopped. She claimed harassment and blamed it on Charles Payne.

That's about all I know.

Was feeling very "ledgy" driving home in heavy traffic listening to Mark Levin. Fortunately, I did pick up extra vermouth today. And now, I have a smile on my face knowing it is our lovely Miss Marple's birthday. I toast you MM

Barbara

we may be the last bastion of defense. We may be tired. But there are lots more of us than the media lets on. That is the biggest lie they cling to.

henry,

I think you're right. I know that there is no other person who I would trust to lead the country. As Miss Marple said, President Trump didn't need to give up his comfortable, luxurious life to do this.

He deserves so much more respect and cooperation. Two things are certain, we will not abandon him and we will never look at politicians - especially Republicans - in the same way again.

Thomas Collins

Happy Birthday, MM!

jimmyk

Was feeling very "ledgy" driving home

You have our big meetup next week to look forward to, so stay away from that ledge!

Bubarooni

MM, my oldest daughter played volleyball in high school with a girl who's Mom is an HR peep at DePauw.

Her older sister was a 6'2" lefty stud in basketball and volleyball in high school. Major D1 materail.

Was injured between her junior and senior year and all looked lost.

She was a stud in the classroom too and DePauw took a chance on her in basketball and gave her a academic scholarship. In 2013 they went 34-0, won a national championship and went to the White House.

The little sis is finishing up her senior season at IUPUI on a full ride athletic scholarship.

I'm paying the final year of tuition at I.U. for my oldest daughter. I'd like to say I'm not jealous of those other girls Dad, but... yeah, I'm frickin' jealous!

 joan

MM, Happy Birthday!

Barbara

Peter,

I love Mark Levin. I really do. But he can be so intense at times, it drives me right to the ledge, too.

Bubarooni

MM, don't know what your granddaughter is studying but, I'm a direct report to the CIO where I work. Her son went to DePauw because they have an insanely high number of pre med students who get into IU's med program.

Another bit of insane jealousy:

He's been dating the same girl since 7th grade. They finished 1 in 2 in the county for the Lily Scholarship. She was also awarded a full ride academic scholarship to I.U. so she turned down the Lily which was then awarded to her son.

I seem to be the only person I know paying full tuition for their kid.

-peter

I mean basically he was saying that Trump sold his base out on DACA and that no good can come from his triangulation to Pelosi and Schumer; and he is right about that, but it is Miss Marple's birthday and I do have sweet vermouth.

Also, has everyone here seen that hysterical video of the Irish family that has a bat flying around their kitchen?

-peter

jimmyk, maybe it wasn't such a smart idea to schedule the meetup at a rooftop bar; oh well put your money where your mouth is as the saying goes.

 joan

CH, I just bought The Buried Book -- I read a couple of pages and knew if I didn't purchase it, I'd worry about Jasper Leary.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Bubarooni,

Granddaughter is on a full ride scholarship. Her current plan is political science with an idea of going into law.

Grandson is also on a Hoosier Scholar program so he is also full ride, and his plan is sports management and business.

I give full credit to my daughter-in-law, who made sure they qualified through grades, character, and activities so that they got qualified for the program and were able to get scholarships.

Last one is a freshman, and she is also a good student.

God bless Mitch Daniels, who started that program.

Porchlight

You have our big meetup next week to look forward to, so stay away from that ledge!
