I wonder how much Weinstein bankrolls Dona Karan's business.

Maybe she feeds him models or something.

boatbuilder

Anyone in need of cheering up (CH and us Bosox fans come to mind) should read the comments on Ace's Jerry Jones piece. Not the ones about Jerry, which are pretty much what one would expect, but the ones responding to Ace's request for advice about trying to put a screw which doesn't want to go into a hole he drilled (with a HAMMER DRILL!!?) into the wall of his apartment to shore up his shelves. Comedy gold.

 narciso

Wait that doesn't seem right?

mad jack

i am enjoying that ace thread as well boatbuilder. i wonder why?

i won't be surprised to learn that ace has electrocuted himself in the next 24hrs. especially if he takes the advice to continue using the hammer drill. i worry for the boy.

GUS

Ace? Do you mean Ass?

Miss Marple the Deplorable

I went over and took a look at that thread. I am glad I am not the only one who has problems like that.

This house was built in the early 50's and I don't know what type of plaster we have but it is almost impossible to hang pictures. I tried pounding nails in but they bent! So I got our drill, but even when I lean in while the drill is operating, I end up with a hole only about 1/16 inch deep, Then I try pounding the nail in and it still bends.

I have had some success but I still have pictures stacked along the wall in the hallway and we have been here over a year.

Elwood: "Good Morning, Harvey! I missed you last night. I do hope you had a pleasant evening."

Elwood: "Oh you did, did you? And visited Ashley Judd as well. Yep, yep, I agree she's a pretty lady. Did you let her know that you thought she was pretty?"

Elwood: "Well that's good to know...very good to know, Harvey. And how exactly did you do that, showing Miss Judd that you thought she was pretty?

Elwood: "Yes, yes, I know what a flowerpot is."

Elwood: "You did what into that flowerpot?"

Elwood: "Aunt Vita, I'd like to introduce you to my good friend Harvey. You won't believe what he did to Ashley Judd last night!"

Elwood: "Nor what he did to Brie Larson last week!

Elwood: "Nor what he plans on doing to Miss Horne tomorrow!"

Aunt Veta: "Gasp."

Elwood:"Why Aunt Vita, I think Harvey deserves a "Directors" chair in Hollywood, just like this one, for having such interesting ways of showing young girls how pretty he thinks they are, don't you?"

Aunt Vita: "Shhh!"

Aunt Vita: "Miss Horne, did you hear that?!? We've got to get to Dr Chumley immediately!"

Aunt Vita:"Oh Dr Chumley, You've got to commit my brother Elwood. He's positively crazy. He thinks there's a 6 foot tall person named Harvey wandering around Hollywood all these years, doing unspeakably horrible things to women right in front of everyone, yet everybody pretends they can't see Harvey doing any of these filthy acts. Elwood's insane!"

Dr Chumley: "We're sorry Aunt Vita, but Elwood has escaped and apparently run off with someone he calls "Harvey."

Elwood: "Do you have a flowerpot, Miss, and have you met my friend Harvey?"

And if the weather is as sucky your way today as ours still is--a pediatrician from UCSF whose name sounds like the fellow who wrote your book. You can put it on your laptop and listen as you're doing your prepping for dinner!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbh8SMsA7RI

You know I'm all about this, but you may have to make a carb side for Frederick to keep him from dropping weight while he's playing football, unless he'll do olive oil shots or eat coconut oil out of the jar to get the calories he needs in. (yes, people do both) (they also run 26 miles)

The Italian father of one of my spouse's partner would do olive oil shots before heading out for a night w his friends, to coat his stomach and decrease the alcohol absorption.

Jack is Back!

anonamom,

Yesterday, I spent an hour or two prepping:Ranchero sauce for breakfast and trail mix. The trail mix is exceptional and I am making a bigger batch today. Walnuts, pecans, cashews, sunflower and sesame seeds turned in avocado oil, roasted and then unsweetened coconut added. Yummy.

I love the kitchen and cooking so no chore at all. Have a plan for Frederick.

Will let you know how it turns out. Thanks fo links.

Appalled

Omg, daddy. I just snorted out my coffee...

GUS

I wish you would have included how NASTY Ashley Judd is Daddy.
Awesome work. We need to make up a NAME for your "COLUMN" Mayhaps.....Daddy's "BITS" Heh....get it?

GUS

Jack, I'm making chicken salad today. Red grapes cashews, etc etc,,

anonamom

Warning: Nuts can be killer if you eat them ad lib if weight loss is desired. That trail mix will keep the pounds on Frederick--and maybe you too.

How much of that trail mix you made yesterday is gone? :-)

Measure outa levelish 1/4 cup---you'll see about 1/10th of the calories you need each day right there. (I know you are not supposed to have to be concerned about that, but if weight loss is part of your intent---gotta watch the nuts.)

Trail mix is super for when we're out all day hiking up mountains. If you aren't doing that, or playing football for a couple of hours, be very very very careful w/ yummy trail mix. Nut butters too---

Just sayin' here...'cause a couple of years ago, when my PA said in passing she had to drop nuts and cheese to actually lose weight, I realized she spoke the truth for many.

YMMV though, being a guy, doing rehab, walking the dogs... Maybe henry and buckeye can weigh in. KK is an outlier, as I think he got better eating raw food--a step too far for many of us, but most intriguing.
I'm on the hold list for the book! Thanks for sharing.

I found my best friend is taking 500mg of Magnesium in tablet form.
He said it was helping to stop cramps in his calves/calfs when bike riding. What else is magnesium for as a supplement dr/mom?

DebinGA

lol, daddy. Wonderful

Another gem featuring Josephine Hull (Aunt Veta) is "Arsenic and Old Lace". Cary Grant is so hilariously over the top when he finds out his sweet maiden aunts are mercifully adding cyanide to the tea they offer lonely old derelicts, and their equally crazy brother, who thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt, is burying them in the basement as part of his Panama Canal dig.

DebinGA

Oh, no. One of our Sam's Club staples is a big bag of walnuts, easy to dip into whenever hunger strikes between meals. Ugh.

henry

Nuts... yes the 1/4 cup limit (maybe 1/3?). Didn't lose much weight until I kept to that limit. My bmi is now 24 (it was never very high), but that 1/4 cup does hold me over if I skip lunch.

Jack is Back!

anonamom,

Only take a handful of trail mix as a between meal snack. Plus I work out from 1/2 hour to 45 mins. each day. Have a fitness room kitted out and used a lot:)

Boatbuilder on iphone

MM-some plaster advice from a hardware store and very old house vet. I think you need to use a masonry drill and plastic or metal inserts. Plaster very quickly dulls the cutting edges of regular drills so they don't work.

Cato Mad Jack knows jack about home improvement or hardware, as he managed to get himself fired for insubordination very early on and went on to waitering and bartending. He pours a damn good cocktail, however.

Boatbuilder on iphone

Caro not Cato. Damn autocorrect.

jimmyk

I find nuts to be very filling and a good alternative to whatever else I'd be snacking on. And I lost 20 lbs anyway. So I'm going to gently dissent from a-mom. Keep the nuts, Deb.

Another Bob

From the last thread...

TM, Pence's action was a publicity stunt? I'm disappointed in your take.

Isn't Pence allowed to act on a principle? And even if he's only turning Alinski's rules around at the progs, isn't it A Good Thing that we have someone working against the progs that actually knows how this game is played for a change?

The republicans could make a lot of hay if they'd get on board, but the dumbasses just won't cooperate.

DebinGA

Our home was built in 1935. One of the few things hubs outsources is anything that might mess with the plaster walls.
.................................................
Curious about this from 5:50 AT link:
"Most of the dreamers live in 5 states: California, Texas, New York, Illinois and Florida"

3 of the 5 (CA-NY-IL) lead in states with highest percentage of residents moving out. And 2 of the 5 (TX-FL + SC) are states with highest percentage of people from other states moving in. Hmm...

 narciso

The claim was made by kaepernicks wingman, Eric Reid, and forwarded by the rizzotto press. It is only true, if pence was borrowing barons time machine, and even then its a stretch.

Extraneus

And by "drill," I'm pretty sure boatbuilder is using the proper term for what we usually call "drill bits."

Ralph L

Is it possible MM has plaster on brick or cinderblock? Terrible insulator but there could be two layers. She could try banging on a prominent spot with a sledgehammer /jk.

Jack is Back!

The fact that the players are doubling down on Trump/Pence and patriotic fans is telling me that there is someone pulling their levers beside the BLM movement. If it is Soros, I am not surprised but I think it may be even deeper - like in the "russkies" or even the "deep state". Nothing would make both of those outfits happier than an out-of-proportion culture war that leads to a race war.

Something is keeping this meme moving and it isn't all Trump.

JimNorCal

Unbelievably good, daddy!

An article from Fox on the Awan's. Nothing new to JOMers but note the avoidance by media.
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2017/10/10/democrats-it-scandal-just-got-even-more-bizarre.html
First, I should note that it was standing room only in the packed courtroom at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia Friday morning ... okay, just kidding, actually, only a few reporters sat in the mostly empty wooden benches in the back of the courtroom. Anyone who didn’t know this was the latest scene in a slowly exploding political scandal would have thought this was only a forgettable bank fraud case.
Awan’s attorney, Chris Gowen, even told me: “This case is hardly newsworthy.”
...
In another twist, Gowen brought up a computer that Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz wants back so badly she actually threatened the chief of the Capitol Police in a public hearing with “consequences” if she didn’t get it back.

Gowen argued that the computer and documents seized in a bag left in a public area of a congressional building around midnight on April 6, 2017, are “protected by attorney-client privilege.” Gowen hopes to remove this evidence from future court proceedings.

Gowen, however, didn’t answer what Imran was doing in the Longworth congressional building late at night and long after he’d been fired by every Democrat aside from Rep. Wasserman Schultz (Wasserman Schultz’s office isn’t in Longworth).

The deeper you dig the more it becomes clear this case is about much more than bank fraud. Capitol Police are investigating possible theft of congressional computer equipment, massive amounts of data moved off the congressional system, alleged fake computer data created to throw investigators off the trail, and data mined by the Awans that could include emails from many members of Congress and more.

Well I have found that moderating nut, cheese and fruit intake is key to maintaining weight loss.

Once you get out of the habit of high carb intake, the next challenge is hunger management.

The trick is finding something to snack on that satiates hunger without adding a bunch of calories.

sbw

Elwood P. Dowd also passed on this wonderful observation:

Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.

So far this fall allergy season a Sudafed tablet every 4-6 hours not only stops the post-nasal drip, sore throat, and chest congestion, but I have lost 3 pounds. Boatbuilder, thank you for the Ace home repair thread--extremely funny.
