First?

rse

Everyone is still over on the other thread gasping at the corker cheerleading.

He was a prog mayor of chattanooga and then went to the senate.

Jack is Back!

rse,

See my last comment to maryrose. There are a lot of people on the right of center that at vulnerable to the claptrap guys like Corker spill.

maryrose

RSE:
Managed to win election to the Senate as a republican so there is that ,prog or not.

maryrose

JIB:
There a lot of people vulnerable to the meme that certain republicans are out to get President Trump when so far they are showing support for his agenda and helping to get it passed.

Operative word = Showing

Those asses also make a big show of being FOR things to get elected and then never seem to act on them.

Showing support <> Supporting

There are probably 1/2 dozen of them playing "who gets the short straw" on which one fs up the agenda every week. Then they can all pretend to be disappointed and laugh like the braying asses they are thinking they have put one over on people.

BTW your use of "vulnerable to the meme" implies that you think most here can be led around by the ohhh shiny that these asses play. Totally offensive. NO ONE here takes these jokers at face value... but you do so who is getting played?

Colts win again with Jacoby in charge, MM. Peyton who? Andrew who?

maryrose

Altar of sainthood?
Totally missed the point. These are good people in my opinion but Corker will be gone soon so President Trump piling on seems unseemly to me.
Trashing McConnell and Ryan who he will have to work with in the future or publicly shaming other Senators is not how I define leadership skill.
But I am counselor always looking for ways to communicate better. In my opinion he is treating Corker like an Apprentice candidate.

Jack is Back!

maryrose.

Stop it you are embarrassing yourself. Health care reform. No: Collins, Murkowski, McCain. Republicans. Tell me how the GOP are supporting Trump. Then for tax reform you will be embarrassed again.

GUS

Hate to pile on, but WINNING ELECTION does not make someone capable. Corker is trash.

maryrose

Dallas making it a real nail biter.

Thomas Collins

And Red Sox need three days of rain before game 4 against the Astros, so David Price will be ready again to throw 50 or 60 pitches out of the bullpen to bail them out.

Price is developing a pattern of excelling in relief in the playoffs and not cutting it as a playoff starter.

maryrose

By all means take it to eleventy.

henry

Dallas just gave the game away.

maryrose

Gus:
Would you say the same about President Trump?
Didn't think so.

maryrose

Henry:
Agreed wrt Dallas "sigh"

DebinGA

Unitl Trump, the last time the R nominee won WI was 1984, iow most of Ryan's adult life. I'm sure Ryan never expected Trump to win WI and likely felt safe in trash talking him in his morally superior "That's not who we are" way during the campaign. I think the reason Ryan has finally roused himself to action is due to pressure behind the scenes to get with the program or clear out his office for the new R Speaker.

maryrose

I have stopped watching Dallas as I am a jinx.
I know that will make TLG and Sue happy.

Momto2

maryrose Corker will be gone soon so President Trump piling on seems unseemly to me.

Did you not hear what Corker said about the President on Wednesday? He started it!

Here you go:

Tennessee Republican Sen. Bob Corker suggested Wednesday that Gens. John Kelly and James Mattis, as well as Secretary of State Rex Tillerson are the "people that help separate our country from chaos," a stinging criticism of President Donald Trump

maryrose

Debin GA:
Disagree with your post in that:
Nobody wants the Speaker post and I watched how delighted Ryan was welcoming the Trumps to the WH and showing them around.
Does he now have a boss who wants to get things done? Yes and he is doing all that he can.
I think where it breaks down here for me is that no negative comments are permitted against President Trump.
That is just not realistic in my opinion.
Do I think President Bush was more tactful? Yes but as many have pointed out here they fill President Trump is more effective.
I think they both have strength and weakness.

maryrose

Momto2:
I didn't interpret it that way.
By mentioning them and their experience he pointed out how good it is they were selected for their positions.
President Trump is new to this job and therefore he will make mistakes also though you wouldn't hear about it here.

Davod

".Corker' s career shouldn't be over for one mistake.career"

Another Corker thread??

maryrose

Stephanie:
So you sincerely believe that the Senators want President Trump to fail want a Democrat in the White House.
I do t see it and I don't buy it.
I don't think anyone is being played, I think they are misinformed.
But that is strictly my opinion.
I could be wrong ,but I think you will be surprised with what they will accomplish if President Trump stops pissing everyone off.

henry

Looks like Dallas pulled it out (and not in a Weinstein manner).

maryrose

TK:
Then leave if you don't like it.
It is what I did on the birther threads.
To my credit I never used the narcosilator.

DebinGA

Nobody wants the Speaker post

It's not that. It's that the warring R House caucuses prevent much better Speaker options than Ryan from getting enough votes imo. Since, for whatever reason, all the Speakers since Tip O'Neil with 2 exceptions caused by extenuating circumstances (Jim Wright/Denny Hastert) have been Catholics, Ryan's replacement must imo be Catholic too to get enough votes. My top choices are Devin Nunes and Steve Scalise if he's well enough. Either would be better than Ryan, especially Nunes who's shown he's courageous and unafraid.

James D.

Don't count those chickens out yet, henry!

maryrose

Henry:
See I knew if I stopped watching they could win.
Unfortunately, that strategy did not work with the Browns today.

Davod

Maryrose. Don't worry about Corker's future. He has probably been flagged as the globalists first choice to lead the negotiations to transfer billions of dollars to North Korea.

maryrose

DebinGA:
I like both of them also.
Who knows perhaps that will happen.
It is nice to know we have such qualified people for that position.

henry

And Rogers bailed out James D. Sorry Maryrose.

James D.

And there you,go. Packers TD, 11 seconds left.

DebinGA

Wow, Aaron Rodgers is good.

maryrose

Davod:
His career adds up to more than that.
And no he won't be in a position to engineer something like that.
I thought the Clintons already screwed the pooch on North Korea.

James D.

And it's still not over. Prescott overthrew an open receiver for what could have been an 80 yard TD

maryrose

Denim GA:
I am on a contrary mood tonight so I will say Rodgers came up short in Playoff and Super Bowl games a time or two.

maryrose

Curses! Foiled again!

GUS

Rodgers is the best football player alive.

I enjoy maryrose’s contributions here and agree from time to time. When I disagree significantly and I think it matters, I mention why I disagree.

But I prefer to leave it at one interjection because once the pebble hits the water, seldom is mutual understanding reached or do people agree to disagree, ... and the waves rebound continuously to no real end.

DebinGA

I've never seen that "Let's keep passing it back and forth" gambit in my life. That was entertaining!

maryrose

Davod:
I think Obama and Rhodes had side deals of money that Corker was ignorant of but I could be wrong.

maryrose

Gus:
Agree to disagree.
Joe Montana comes to mind or any other quarterback like Brady who has multiple Super Bowl rings.

No need to leave.

maryrose

"No real end"
I suppose that is true but we won't know how this all plays out until we see what happens this year and the next as far as what gets done.

Gentlejim

The Repuke controlled Congress has accomplished very little. Certainly, nothing that couldn’t have been completed in the first couple months ie repeal/replace 404care, tax reform, funding border wall, budget, etc.

Ryan gets no credit for getting a budget through. That’s his damn job. He needs to quit preening and do his job, quietly, but effectively. Don’t get me started on Elmer Fudd.

Buckeye

But I prefer to leave it at one interjection because once the pebble hits the water, seldom is mutual understanding reached or do people agree to disagree, ... and the waves rebound continuously to no real end.

Aaron's da man!

GUS

Maryrose, I wasn't debating rings, I was making a factual statement. There is no better football player alive than Aaron Rodgers. He gets it done virtually by himself. There are hundreds of players who have more Super Bowl rings than Rodgers. Rodgers also has 2 MVP's and a SUPER BOWL MVP. But watching him play. .....NOBODY CAN DO WHAT HE DOES.
God bless you Maryrose, you are the most positive thinking JOMer alive.

Passing a $4trillion budget with a $1trillion deficit is not an accomplishment for the ages.
It's slightly better than passing a CR of the same proportions which just means Eddie earned himself a somewhat lower lamppost, but his feet still won't reach the ground.

DrJ

Passing a $4 trillion budget with a $1 trillion deficit is not an accomplishment for the ages.

I think passing a budget by regular order is a pretty big deal, given what has happened in DC over the last decade or so.

The deficit won't be reduced until there is the political will to reign in entitlements. Trump has said he will not do that, and there aren't enough Rs in the Senate to tackle them even if they wanted to.

 narciso

How about the areas of discretionary cuts, that went by the wayside, too many gators.

well, Maryrose go back then read your remarks where the GOP Congress has Trumps back. Are you that set in your defense? It’s the other way around. One exception = Gorsich but where is healthcare after 7 years of lying?

Keep hanging onto that hope and you will die in shit. [Chuck Knox]. Sorry to be offensive but Ryan and McConnell have done zip for Trump or America so far. Only their lobbyist greased palms.

Live in you fairyland. I refuse.

DrJ

narc, the discretionary portion of the budget is too small to matter much. Yes, such cuts would help, and get rid of a lot of nonsense, but that's not where the money is.

Bush's last budget approx 2.5 trillion.

Just listened to the Steve Wynn interview in the Foxnews article, i.e., not only the written quotes, but the actual 9-minute audio.

Two interesting items:

He said according to his staff who observed Paddock over the past 11 years at his casino, he and Marilou Danley never drank alcohol. Also that he seemed very rational.

And a little tidbit seemed to slip out about how his casino would never allow hotel guests to be in the back service elevators without being accompanied by hotel staff.

Hadn't heard about this before.

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

--Iggy:
OL stated he wanted a budget passed by regular order.
That has been done.
You now move the goalposts for Ryan because you don't like the terms of it.--

Those were never my goalposts and I'm not interested in playing football, so I moved nothing.
I restated what I have many times. Most of what the Federal government does in unconstitutional and until that is addressed and the Feds returned to a constitutional role most of the rest is a waste of time. Moreover if returning to constitutional self governance is not the goal we are pretty much guaranteed never to get there.

DrJ

Bush's last budget approx 2.5 trillion. How did we get to 4 TRILLION.

I've not looked at the numbers, but I'd bet that Obama added his $1 trillion "stimulus" monies, and then used that amount as part of baseline budgeting to expand disability, unemployment, and so on and so forth. The rest is inflation.

You can't deal with these large numbers to find the right cuts until regular order is restored. Otherwise, the numbers are terribly opaque. With regular order they are less so.

How was there such a GOPe hunt without me? Although I couldn't improve on the critique of Corker's gutless shredding of the Senate's responsibility in the Constitution to approve treaties period. Btw, when that was happening CT offered some RINOcentric excuse for it. He hasn't been back for a long time.
