Because spacey has played sociopaths for 30 years yes he was the prosecutor in time to kill.

Did WaPo endorse a candidate in Alabama election? Who? Did WaPo pay accusers for story???? If so, how much???

Great... WSJ says all this sex harrassment stuff changes the workplace. That means more training to certify, obviously the EEOC will have to create a standard, plus presumed guilty resolution processes like in colleges. Moore or anyone else is just a broken egg for this omelet, although an egg the uniparty enjoys breaking. Congress has its own law to hide all this crap (see last thread). Typical.

Frau Festina Lente
In announcing his run, Justice Moore, a West Point graduate and veteran who served in Vietnam, said, “My position has always been God first, family, then country. I think I share and I know I share the vision of our president, Donald Trump, to make America Great Again."

"But, you know, before we can make America great again, we’ve got to make America good again," said Moore, who is known for his public statements in defense of Christianity, the Ten Commandments, and marriage between one man and one woman.

Just like Spacey? I think not.

boxty

James Woods should play Moore.

I can only assume you NeverTrump guys are all sex abusers projecting your own bad behavior onto others because you are acting just like Democrats.

Just got off the phone with a friend who's a low-level fund raiser(office employee) in the RNC, so take this with a grain of salt. He's telling me that he's hearing that Rapey Roy is a watershed moment for establishment Republicans.

Regardless of the outcome of the tax reform bill, once it's over the establishment are going to Jackie flannery Trump.

They're just sick of all the shit. He says their lancing the boil and draining the sickness out. They want to get it done before 2018 mids and Mueller's findings.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Agreeing with Old Lurker's comment about the Tet Offensive being the most blatant historical example of press malice and lying in historical terms, but it will only mean something to those of us who lived through the Vietnam Era as young adults.

I have watched news and politics since I was in the 7th grade. I can still remember that Stuart Symington along with LBJ were primary contenders against John F. Kennedy.

And yet, until "We Were Soldiers" came out, I thought we had LOST the Tet Offensive, thanks to Walter Cronkite, "the most trusted man in America." Not only that, but Jan, my best friend here in Indy, ALSO thought the same thing until I told her what I had learned!

Alas, for the younger generation, we will have to make do with the video evidence of the Koi feeding lie. At least there is visual evidence.

Old Lurker

MM, we have to limit that to my lifetime and yours.

I think we went to war in Cuba so Hearst could sell newspapers, for example.

I bet our man was not promising to be more flexible after 2018.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

My position on Roy Moore is this: he's not my cup of tea, since I do not ascribe to some of his theological interpretations of America's destiny.

However, I realize that this is MY prejudice and it has nothing to do with whether he would be a good senator, nor how the people of Alabama should vote. My major concern over his nomination was that he would say something that would cause a backlash amongst fence-sitters and democrats.

I just cannot accept the WaPo story line without some sort of actual evidence, particularly since the paper carried the Woodward and Bernstein fiction of Deep Throat when they knew full well the guy was a disgruntled FBI agent with an axe to grind against Nixon, not to mention the other lies they have printed over the last 20 years, including the fiction that Michelle Obama was a fashion icon.

So, unless there is some PROOF (and I mean PROOF, not dubious testimony from the accuser's second cousin remembering what she heard over the persimmon pudding on Thanksgiving at grandma's) I am not buying any of it.

The day before Veteran's Day deserves this from a USNA friend:

"[Kate Smith sang God Bless America November 11, 1940, and moved into legend. I rate this message as one of my top two or three annual messages.]

http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?feature=player_embedded&v=TnQDW-NMaRs#%21

"Frank Sinatra considered Kate Smith the best singer of her time, and said that when he and a million other guys first heard her sing God Bless America on the radio, they all pretended to have dust in their eyes as they wiped away a tear or two.

You should also know the story behind the first public showing of the song. The time was 1940. America was still in the economic depression. Hitler was taking over Europe and Americans were afraid we'd have to go to war. It was a time of hardship and worry for most Americans. This was the era before television, when radio shows were HUGE, and American families sat around their radios in the evenings, listening to their favorite entertainers; and no entertainer of that era was bigger than Kate Smith.

Kate was also large; plus size, as we now say. The popular phrase still used today is in deference to her, "It ain't over till the fat lady sings". Kate Smith might not have made it big in the age of television, but with her voice coming over the radio, she was the biggest star of her time.

Kate was also patriotic. It hurt her to see Americans so depressed and afraid of what the next day would bring . She had hope for America, and faith in her fellow Americans. She wanted to do something to cheer them up, so she went to the famous American song-writer, Irving Berlin (who also wrote "White Christmas") and asked him to write a song that would make Americans feel good again about their country. When she described what she was looking for, he said he had just the song for her.

He went to his files and found a song that he had written, but never published, 22 years before - back in 1917. He gave it to her and she worked on it with her studio orchestra. She and Irving Berlin were not sure how the song would be received by the public, but both agreed they would not take any profits from God Bless America. Any profits would go to the Boy Scouts of America. Over the years, the Boy Scouts have received millions of dollars in royalties from this song.

This video starts out with Kate Smith coming into the radio studio with the orchestra and an audience. She introduces the new song for the very first time, and starts singing. After the first couple verses, with her voice in the background still singing, scenes are shown from the 1940 movie, "You're In The Army Now." At the 4:20 mark of the video you see a young actor in the movie, sitting in an office, reading a paper; it's Ronald Reagan.

To this day, God Bless America stirs our patriotic feelings and pride in our country. Back in 1940, when Kate Smith went looking for a song to raise the spirits of her fellow Americans, I doubt whether she realized just how successful the results would be for her fellow Americans during those years of hardship and worry..... And for many generations of Americans to follow.

Many people don't know there's a lead-in to the song since we usually hear it start with "God Bless America ....." So here's the entire song as originally sung.....

Let us pray He still does, and it's still not too late."

Minnesota state senator accused of sexual harassment

ST. PAUL, Minn. — A Democratic state senator from Minnesota is facing calls from his own party to resign amid allegations that he sexually harassed several women involved in state politics.

Unwanted advances and an alleged butt-pinch.

Schoen said he doesn’t intend to resign, telling MinnPost that the allegations were taken out of context or, in some cases, that they’re false. He did not immediately respond to an Associated Press request for comment on Thursday.

“Despite this, if any of my actions or words have ever made another person feel uncomfortable or harassed, I deeply regret it and truly apologize,” Schoen said in a statement.

But Gov. Mark Dayton and other Democratic leaders have called on Schoen to step down immediately, and Republican Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka threatened to lodge a formal ethics complaint if Schoen doesn’t.

Hysteria.

Never trust a legislature, even if they have an "R" label. This Public Finance Authority is a scam from the get go. The WI Assembly wanted to give it eminent domain powers (Walker vetoed that part). As I recall, this was created under Doyle. But it is a scam top to bottom and some R people (ahem... On the Tet offensive, the true story is more complicated than a simple winner/loser outcome. Tet was a military debacle for the North. They hoped that it would provoke an uprising in the South, which very much did not happen. They lost a large number of people without achieving any lasting military objective.

BUT it was a political/psychological disaster for the Americans. The government had led the public to believe that the North and Vietnam Cong were on their last legs militarily and were incapable of launching an attack of anything like this magnitude. The administration was caught flat footed and looked clueless and all the previous optimistic forecasts looked like BS. Even they had to admit that victory was not in the immediate offing but would require a lot more time and sacrifice.

A sizable portion of the American public — and nearly all of the press — was not willing to commit the time and resources to victory. The country was bitterly divided and never again committed to victory, the only debate was between the bug out faction and the peace with honor faction.

So Tet was a major tactical blunder by the North but turned into a major strategic victory for them because it taught the Americans that they were prepared to keep fighting a long war.

Yep. The best and the brightest as Halberstam sarcastically called them. Progressives always think that the experts — themselves— should make the decisions for everyone else. This would be a problem from an individual liberty perspective even if these experts were real good at deciding things. Since they demonstrably are not, it makes no sense to allow them that power.

That's the political side but there is a psychological side and that is economic and work ethic. Getting off a failing and falling oil economy means getting their people to work for themselves and not depend on the TCN's. It takes a millenial Crown Prince to recognize that and change the guard.

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

Statement by Louis CK;

I want to address the stories told to the New York Times by five women named Abby, Rebecca, Dana, Julia who felt able to name themselves and one who did not. These stories are true.

At the time, I said to myself that what I did was okay because I never showed a woman my dick without asking first, which is also true. But what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your dick isn't a question. It's a predicament for them. The power I had over these women is that they admired me. And I wielded that power irresponsibly.

I have been remorseful of my actions. And I've tried to learn from them. And run from them. Now I'm aware of the extent of the impact of my actions. I learned yesterday the extent to which I left these women who admired me feeling badly about themselves and cautious around other men who would never have put them in that position.

I also took advantage of the fact that I was widely admired in my and their community, which disabled them from sharing their story and brought hardship to them when they tried because people who look up to me didn't want to hear it. I didn't think that I was doing any of that because my position allowed me not to think about it.

There is nothing about this that I forgive myself for. And I have to reconcile it with who I am. Which is nothing compared to the task I left them with.

I wish I had reacted to their admiration of me by being a good example to them as a man and given them some guidance as a comedian, including because I admired their work.

The hardest regret to live with is what you've done to hurt someone else. And I can hardly wrap my head around the scope of hurt I brought on them. I'd be remiss to exclude the hurt that I've brought on people who I work with and have worked with who's professional and personal lives have been impacted by all of this, including projects currently in production: the cast and crew of Better Things, Baskets, The Cops, One Mississippi, and I Love You Daddy. I deeply regret that this has brought negative attention to my manager Dave Becky who only tried to mediate a situation that I caused. I've brought anguish and hardship to the people at FX who have given me so much The Orchard who took a chance on my movie. and every other entity that has bet on me through the years.

I've brought pain to my family, my friends, my children and their mother.

I have spent my long and lucky career talking and saying anything I want. I will now step back and take a long time to listen.

Thank you for reading.

All that to quote the priceless, perfect first comment at zerohedge;

Asshole.
Liar.

Narc —

I think the history shows that America. Intelligence totally dropped the ball, but there may have been an element of not reporting what the brass did not want to know. The American forces were totally unprepared for the initial onslaught. The NV and VC forces were totally surprised by the lack of support they received from the South Vietnamese population. The NVA did have to pitch in, but that only added to their losses.

What the North did demonstrate was a commitment to fighting the war that the American public could not tolerate. Not enough Americans cared about a communist Vietnam — and a few positively wanted one — to make the sacrifices to prevent it from happening.

This was not seen by the public as an existential crisis like WWII. They were not willing to pay the price for victory in some distant third rate country.

Jack is Back!

My last sortie out of Anderson was in September 1967 and then I was accepted at AFIT. While there, I distinctly remember our class and total population including instructors just shaking our heads and muttering invectives during the reporting by the 3 channels. Back then it was CBS. NBC and ABC.

Cronkite was the worse. It was then we all. ensemble, discovered that old Uncle Walt was not a champion of American exceptionalism or patriotism at a time when we were both. I don't think any guys in my squadron ever voted Democrat again. Back then, most guys in the service were Democrats but conservative, patriotic Democrats.

Jack —

There is no question that the press — then as now — represented elite opinion and not the mainstream views in the country. Elite opinion definitely turned against the war after Tet. But I would not put too much emphasis on the role of the press in this. The public had been misled about how the war was going and Tet caused them to realize that they had been misled about how the war was going. The public intuitively grasped that victory was no longer an option without a massive increase in commitment to the war. There was no appetite for that outside of maybe Curtis LeMay.

Despite what some have said , Nixon did not “win” the war. He never sought to “win” the war. His stated and actual goal was to shift the bulk of the fighting to the South Vietnamese so that the US could have peace with honor. As some here may recall, the communists did in fact eventually “win” the war. In some ways this was humiliating for the US, but not nearly as much as it would have been had McGovern’s bug out strategy been adopted.

It is a hard thing to ask young men to risk their lives not for victory but for national pride. But national pride and honor and not nothing, either.

Since you ask, I was of military age at the time. I did not volunteer to serve. I did decide that I would not take a deferment and would go if drafted. It did not come to pass.
