Robin, 10 square miles surrounded by reality.

Two very good quotable comments from the last thread:

From Derwill:

One of the fundamental flaws of liberalism is that its proponents have never grasped the basic concept that in order to redistribute wealth you first have to create it.

And Kev:

The Left doesn't understand that the Ship of State doesn't run on unicorn gas or John Lennon lyrical extrapolations. The Ship of State runs based on the projection of power--- not only the capacity to get stuff done, that projection includes a track record of actually getting stuff done.

So perfect that I will be using both at some point with my lefty friends!

Weren't there nasty allegations against McCain during the 2008 campaign?

Should he have dropped out, just based on the seriousness of those allegations?

Although I suppose the election wouldn't have looked all that much different if he had officially dropped out...

Frau Edith Steingehirn

Meanwhile, the Awan brothers count the interest on their rupees.

The pattern with the Hollywood and the media stuff is that something from a real long time ago comes out, and that emboldens someone with a more recent experience to come out with their story. That's the case with Weinstein, Spacey, Halperin and the NPR guy.

If this pattern does not recur, I'm suspicious.

Black Activists Fearful Over FBI Doc On ‘Black Identity Extremists’

Black activists expressed concern over an FBI document about “black identity extremists,” worrying that it could lead to a blacklist of black organizers.

Black protest organizations and lawmakers have grown increasingly concerned about the contents of an FBI document called “Black Identity Extremists Likely Motivated to Target Law Enforcement Officers,” NBC News reported Thursday. The groups believe that the document, which warns of potential violence form black extremists, would paint black organizers as “boogie men.”

GOPe Colludes with Dims

Roy Moore's full statement:

""Judge Roy Moore has endured the most outlandish attacks on any candidate in the modern political arena, but this story in today's Washington Post alleging sexual impropriety takes the cake. National liberal organizations know their chosen candidate Doug Jones is in a death spiral, and this is their last ditch Hail Mary.

"The Washington Post has already endorsed the Judge's opponent, and for months, they have engaged in a systematic campaign to distort the truth about the Judge's record and career and derail his campaign. In fact, just two days ago, the Foundation for Moral Law sent a retraction demand to the Post for the false stories they wrote about the Judge's work and compensation. But apparently, there is no end to what the Post will allege.

"The Judge has been married to Kayla for nearly 33 years, has 4 children, and 5 grandchildren. He has been a candidate in four hotly-contested statewide political contests, twice as a gubernatorial candidate and twice as a candidate for chief justice. He has been a three-time candidate for local office, and he has been a national figure in two ground-breaking, judicial fights over religious liberty and traditional marriage. After over 40 years of public service, if any of these allegations were true, they would have been made public long before now.

"Judge Roy Moore is winning with a double-digit lead. So it is no surprise, with just over four weeks remaining, in a race for the U.S. Senate with national implications, that the Democratic Party and the country's most liberal newspaper would come up with a fabrication of this kind.

"This garbage is the very definition of fake news and intentional defamation."

On Thursday, Judge Moore called the allegations by the Post "completely false and a desperate political attack."

McTurtle and Eddie Munster will play nice in re: Moore but Trump won't.

He will live up to David's nightmare and I for one hope David has multiple nightmares everynight just like all those "moon howlers" a year ago yesterday.

Porch's congrasshole Doggett, was on his high horse (in Austin all the horses are high) about Trump and his tax return all day today at the markup. He is trying like hell to make himself the hero of the left and NeverTrumpers. Hell he may even be the President of that club.

While Americans who disposable income has sunk to new lows wait for some tax relief this asswipe thinks its unfair that Trump as a successfull business man unlike permanent politician Doggett will get a break.

I seem to remember Rand Paul, during a post nutball shooting spree interview, mentioned he had a Concealed Carry but never thought to have it during batting practice for a charity event.

My birther instincts tell me that his neighbor is part of the not so subtle gun control movement and was hoping Paul was packing while mowing. The down on his luck Dem was looking for Suicide by Legislator to further the cause.

Jack is Back!

I don't know about your but it looks like Cavuto and Napolitano want to deal in rumor, supposition and unproven accusations regarding the DoJ secret message on selling CNN. It was pretty disturbing to hear a guy who is supposed to be the Fox legalmeister talk about this as if it was fact when it isn't and most likely started and spread by CNN.

Then on the tax bill which is becoming slowly but surely a wonderfully round and savory sausage they can't control their disappointment. Of course, having such as sterling and successful political pundit as Karl Rove on to pass on his brilliance doesn't help their credibility.

And they and News are not on the chopping block because they make the dough for the Murdochs. To bad the Mercer's are hung up on some other deal. One could hope.

The Trump factor is strong in how it can even turn joints like Fox. Does anyone know if Trump has a dog?

Judge dismisses lawsuit to force pursuit of more Hillary Clinton emails

A federal judge in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia dismissed a case Thursday which would have compelled the State Department and the U.S. archivist to continue searching for emails from Hillary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state in which she used a private email server and address.

The case, brought by Cause of Action and Judicial Watch, didn’t stem from a Freedom of Information Act request, as is usually the case with those watchdog groups. Instead, the two groups were pressing the court to rely on a line from the Federal Records Act, which commands the archivist team up with the U.S. Attorney General’s office to recover documents which may have been “unlawfully removed from that agency[.]"

They don't mention it in the piece, but https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_E._Boasberg was appointed by Obama.

I'm headed to a live auction at the Episcopal church here at the lake this evening. (That's where y'all thought I'd be, of course...) I'll listen for chatter, re: Moore.

David, Internet Deplorable

I believe it was Threadkiller? who posited a conspiracy against Judge Moore. I actually have similar, if somewhat more chilling thoughts.

Something I've been thinking about lately. While it is enormously entertaining to watch all these Hollywood/Press types get eaten by the liberal outrage machine because of the allegations of sexual misconduct, I am worried that all this is battle space preparation for using the same tactics on other folks. I am deeply concerned that all of these "trial by press" victims are simply a dry-run for playing the same games on others who are not liberal icons. We may be seeing the first shots in that war with the stuff against Moore in Alabama. I find it VERY suspicious that one of the allegations is described as being sexual harassment of an underage girl, when, of course, it was nothing of the kind. He tried to date a sixteen-year old, which is neither harassment, nor was she underage. But, I fear that these things are being weaponized on a few unfortunate liberals who have offended the Gods of Political Correctness in preparation for a mass unleashing on their real opponents.

The only good thing about this is that the liberals have been in full "outrage freak-out" mode for a solid year since Trump's election, and I think that people's "shock porn" tolerance is rising. I use the term "shock porn" deliberately, because I have a theory about these things. One of the characteristics of someone who is addicted to pornography is that they require more and more stimulation the more porn they watch. I read an article last week about how the porn industry is becoming more and more violent, and how girls who used to be able to count on four and five-year careers are completely burned out after just a few months, because of the increasingly sick and depraved things they are "asked" to do (I put "asked" in quotes, because there are so many girls lining up for these porn actress slots that failure to do anything a director asks means you never work again). In the same way, the people of this country keep hearing 24/7 about all the horrible things that Trump has done/is doing/will do, and they look around, and things seem normal enough. So, even if they believe the news, they shrug and say, "Well, that doesn't really affect me, and it doesn't seem to have hurt his ability to govern effectively," so it becomes a nothing-burger.

I mean, think about it. Now, I love Melania as a First Lady, but let's be real, how many of you, in 1980 (assuming you are old enough to have voted then) would have voted for a presidential candidate who had a nude model as a wife and potential First Lady? The answer, I am pretty sure, is none. But, thanks to the Left's all-out war on everything that is good and decent, our culture has coarsened to the point that Melania's little peccadilloes seem rather tame.

So, the result of all this is that the press and the #NeverTrump people need to make ever more serious allegations about someone to get people's attention and make things stand out in their minds. While they may be weaponizing the accusations by trying them out on liberals with a mind to deploying them later against conservatives, the American public, just like a porn addict who has graduated to a hard core genre like orgies as their mainstream entertainment, will, at first, find these accusations noteworthy and effective. But, just as an advanced porn addict will soon find that their new hardcore genre fails to arouse them after a time and they need to discover something even more obscene or outrageous to keep their interest, the ability of allegations of sexual misconduct, even underage, will soon fail to shock and titillate the electorate enough to make them sit up and listen.

Of course, the real issue here is the opposite one of that which I am talking about above. I am afraid that in their attempt to smear their political rivals and ensure their defeat with false accusations, liberals are going to make it impossible to go after real offenders, because everyone will just assume that any actual prosecution is just business-as-usual. In the process of making it impossible for Republicans to run the government, the Democrats are also causing the unfortunate side-effect of burning down our entire culture. But, they seem ok with that, since if they can't have power, they appear to prefer that no one does.

You know, I have a couple of memories of things that happened in high school.

One was that after she graduated and turned 18, a gal who graduated a year ahead of me started secretly dating one of the teachers who was about 10 years older than she was. The guy was a friend of my mother's (Dean of Girls at the same school) and was a good friend of hers. They actually came to our house to tell my mom they were getting married and ask her to forgive them for keeping it secret. As far as I know, they had a very happy marriage.

Also, I accidentally got asked out by a student teacher when i was at a football game. The guy didn't realize I was a student because I looked mature for my age. He was horrified when I told him how old I was. (I, of course, being a teen-age girl, thought it was a great compliment.)

I am reserving judgement and leaving it to the people of Alabama. ChiTown Lurker thinks this has the odious Rick Wilson's fingerprints all over it. I must say I tend to lean in that direction.
