Wednesday afternoon, waiting for the dryer repair guy to show up (again). Visit #5. It took 4 visits before the guy tested the switch I told him didn't work. Now the replacement for that switch is here, so he can make laundry great again. I can retire the clothes line (more likely to freeze than dry until March anyway), Paris Accords be damned.

Old Lurker

Good Morning. Speaking of hump day, we are already starting to hump it for Christmas ops, so I'm back again at the Happy Mexican in Melvis and miles behind as usual, but a special word of thanks to Miss M for always posting those odd and interesting stories about fascinating Archeological discoveries. Please keep doing that Miss M. I dont always mention it but they make my day. LuLu's tomorrow night---MAGA!

OL, I'm sure GUS and I could write some scandalous dossier stuff for a $ million. And have beer leftover.

If you ever thought the Clinton's would throw in the towel and leave the scene of their disasater, you are now being proved naive, wrong and hopeless.

The only way they will go is in a casket, a dagger threw their hearts and hands holding a crucifix so they never rise again. But that is wishful thinking on my part.

They still have enough of cash assets in their foundation, initiative and other scams to continue their legerdermain for years to come.

Buckeye

I think Curb Dive should be careful about trying to fabricate some dirt about Trump and some Russian girls.

More likely that there is dirt about her and some Russian girls, and yes, Trump knows about that too:)

Jack is Back!

What is interesting watching the tour of the sausage factory is that all the Dem arguments for their amendments reveal how bad it is in the blue hells. They have no idea how much they are revealing about their local and State governance. Really is incredible to listen to and not have to laugh out loud.

I thought the moderate Democrats were all about equality and promoting the common good. Boy was I wrong.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

If Ed Klein knows about Hillary's attempt to get a second dossier, I have no doubt Trump knows all about it and is 3 steps ahead of her.

You know what would be great? If the SAUDIS arrested Hillary!

They could probably get her on extortion. "Nice little kingdom you have there, King Salman. Shame if something happened to it."

Let's see the Dopey Prince's wire transfers. Besides the Clintons and assorted pols, I bet we would see massive donations to the Sierra Club and various groups who protested the pipelines.

The Atlantic: (May 24, 2012) Should We Care if Bill Clinton Posed with Porn Stars?

...the photo of note we get from this event is Bill standing next to Brooklyn Lee, star of Secretaries 4 (she's the one who tweeted the pic) and, on the other side, Tasha Reign, also of sexy movies including Farm Girls Gone Bad. The third woman, the one furthest from Bill's arm, was identified on Twitter as @jennifer_taule...

But perhaps the funniest, and not really funny haha thing, to point out is the general reaction to this photo—laughs, virtual pats on the back, etc. etc.—versus reaction to recent ones of Hillary drinking beer in Cartagena, or, even more recent than that, photos of her not wearing makeup while working. For both of those photos she was taken to task; people were outraged in various ways, calling her ugly, irresponsible, a shame to her job and womanhood. Let us not ask, therefore, what Hillary will think (OH NO, do we actually think this is a surprise to the Secretary of State?) about this photo, but what Hillary thinks about the double standard that means that her not wearing several layers of makeup at all times, and maybe, occasionally, a scrunchie, gets more censure and outrage than this photo of her husband with porn stars....

Thanks for the invote Clarice. just got my next months Calendar and i think I'm doing Christmas at LuLu's then south to Oz for the day after.

jiB, just the restaurant way east of town near Fred's house. the food is awful and way oversalted, but i remain a sucker for their frozon Margharittas and I love the wait staff. A big hospital is across the street so you get a bunch of forlorn folks in here pounding alcohol, but a very fun party of 4 elder redneck boys was in earlier laughing a storm. i caught the punchline to this joke which brought the house down, but not the set-up. The punch line which drove everyone into hillarity was this:

Old fun codger, mimics speaking like his wife:

"Did you do that to keep the boy out of the Draft?"

"No, Woman, I did that to keep the draught out of the boy!

afterwhich the place erupts into hilarity.

Anyone know the set-up?

buckeye, i think u are right. the iPad has been pimping me for some update lately, so i just disabled everything green on the Keyboad page fucntion and removed "at the Happy Mexican" from my byline and it seems Im sorta back to normal.

It is expensive to send people to Puerto Rico, it's a hard story to tell in a two minute bite, and there's always something going on in the Trump carnival that's easier to cover.

And that's the basis for an insinuation that Trump is anti-Hispanic. I don't consider being anti-Hisanic racism, btw, because many Hispanics are white, but I assume that Appalled thinks that Trump is a racist as well, and the Puerrrrrto Rico hurricane is apparently his best evidence.

Get a grip, dude. Do you really think Trump is a racist? Do you think any of us here are racists?

derwill

--What I don't see from Trump is the solid knowledge of issues and focused conversation you would get if he is spending that time that way.--

Trump is in Asia right now doing multi-billion dollar trade deals. Apparently Appalled thinks that Trump got off the plane and those deals just fell out of the sky and into his lap.

In the real world, those kinds of deals take months of work behind the scenes to bring to fruition. But our resident propaganda eater Appalled who loves getting his girlie panties in a knot over something Trump tweeted two months ago doesn't know what to think about trade deals because they don't fit the narrative. So he doesn't think.

Well, you said it was the tweets and golf. Now it's watching Fox and Friends... man up. Which is it? If I say anything to demolish your Fox and Friends allegation, you'll change it again.

Duh.

I work with the radio on. It's in the background. I have opposing thumbs, as does the President, and it allows us to do things like multitasking. It's really a cool thing.

You should try it.

DJT is a talented individual. According to some he is not likeable. But I watched him from the late 70s to present day. He was always attracting media attention because the "star power" of Hollywood and Medialand always wanted to be seen with him. He was joined at the hip with Oprah.... Trump is a man who made himself what he is.

And now he is President of the United States--- because he wanted to be. He didn't have to buy it. He won it with one armed tied behind his back.

And he watched Fox and Friends and still kicked that Medusa in her lard-assed behind clean off the national stage.

What else ya got?

Captain Hate

Thank you again, friends. This was the dinner craft beer:

https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/321/2269/

The presents just keep coming in, particularly the NYRB article by Katha Pollitt. First of all, anyone who deliberately calls herself "Katha" is surely a miserable bitter spiteful witch of a stank ho. Secondly, this isn't something that just happened within the last year because she's been a caricature of a barren lonely joyless harridan well into the last century; so blaming DJT and the Deplorables for her pathetic existence is surely ill placed. Finally I'm not sure it's not a parody of her whining because large parts of it seem to be written tongue in cheek; although maybe I'm just so jaded by her crap that I can't take any of it seriously.

I see that Brett Baier and John Bolton have moved to the Communist China narrative.

Funny how when others were in power, we were supposed to welcome China with open arms into world trade.

I am not naive about China. They think they are a superior race, they crave international power, and the Communist Party is how they maintain control over their people. It's a brutal and ruthless regime.

I am just sick of the hypocrisy.

I wonder if there's a way for Trump to unilaterally do away with the mandate tax using one of those endless "the secretary shall" clauses? There was some talk of him doing just that, but I can see why he would want to see how the tax bill shakes out (or doesn't) before he takes that step.

Miss Marple the Deplorable

derwill,

I agree with you on the "secretary shall" stuff.

We will just have to wait and see.

Ignatz Ratzkywatzky

Not trying to sound like Appalled here and Koskinen is certainly scum, but the fact is Barry had no authority to simply suspend the employer mandate that was codified by Congress and his own signature.
It's a horrible law but the SCOTUS said it's legal and if we're for the rule of law shouldn't we be for enforcing even the crappy ones?
He didn't enforce it because it would have made Barrycare even more unpopular.

Normally, I would agree, Ig, but if there is a legitimate loophole in the crappy law that would allow him to do away with it, I'm all for him taking.

derwill

Remember all those times when Obama said he was "pivoting to Asia" and the MSM would breathlessly report on how brilliant Obama was to be pivoting to Asia, only in spite of the multiple announcements about pivoting, no actual pivoting ever took place? So many announcements of pivots to Asia took place during the Obama administration it was enough to make one dizzy with the pivoting.

I point that out because it certainly looks to me like this trip of Trump's is shaping up to be an actual real life pivot. Or at least real steps are being taken in the direction of pivoting.

In the realclearpolitics' article posted above, I disagree with a couple of things:

"We need to understand the most insidious danger to the good order and discipline of the United States military is not the judgment rendered in Bergdahl’s trial. It is the casual exercise of the most pernicious cancer to a functioning, credible military justice system our troops depend upon: command influence -- in this case by two presidents of opposing political parties with divergent views of the role of the military, both for the most naked political advantage."

I don't think President Trump commented on Bergdahl's trial for naked political advantage. My opinion is that he is and was angry that a deserter was feted and honored, other men died trying to help him. I think this is a normal patriotic reaction. Of course I do agree the Obama administration was calculating and cynical and wrong.

There are only a couple of comments to the article, but I agreed with the sentiment of both, and am posting the first one, which I truly agree with.

"Well, that is an interesting take. I really do not understand why it was written, or published. In any other world but ours of 24 hour journalism with an analyst and commentary on everything under the sun all the time, this Bergdahl would have been written off years ago for what he is: an unfortunately flawed individual; a forever-immature, self-important, narcissistic jerk who, yes, should not have been where he was. But the "Army" is a big place with lots of little cogs in it, and formerly, at least in other times, a highly rigorous basic training that re-socialized and weeded out the unsuited, worked for most of the time for most of the Army. In any event, he got much better justice than those he deserted and those wounded or killed who tried to find him. We do not need this article to keep him upheld as the victim, rather than the perpetrator he is."

daddy, from Stevie Smith's "Thought on the Person from Porlock":

Coleridge received the Person from Porlock
And ever after called him a curse,
Then why did he hurry to let him in?
He could have hid in the house.

It was not right of Coleridge in fact it was wrong
(But often we all do wrong)
As the truth is I think he was already stuck
With Kubla Khan.

He was weeping and wailing: I am finished, finished,
I shall never write another word of it,
When along comes the Person from Porlock
And takes the blame for it.

I have published an article on the whole issue of inspiration/interruption, with Porlock at its center, but that was a while ago.

Regards.

Clarice, I didn't think the writer, was it Lipscomb, can't remember, was standing up for Bergdahl. I think what I said was I disagreed with him saying Trump only commented for 'naked political advantage'.

I posted the comment to the article written by the other person mainly because of the last few sentences.

 joan

And, in thinking about it, I didn't like the author calling it a 'casual exercise of a pernicious cancer' and equating Trump's behavior as bad as obama's. Guess that's what set me off.

--What I don't see from Trump is the solid knowledge of issues and focused conversation you would get if he is spending that time that way.--

Late to the show and missed all beforehand, but it sparks in my mind a remembrance of General George Washington in a few of the books, McCullough/Fischer. He is asked by the Brit Howe Admiral Brothers @1776 to respond to their insulting demanding questioning and George personaly hoists the legitimacy of the Revolution on his back and refuses to engage with their ministers until the Howe Brothers treat him with the dignity he demands he deserves as the General of the Revolution. They succumb, acquiescing to George on his force of personality.

The same shits in our day (CNN) do pretty much the same as the Howe Bro's on any goven day on am y media platform, demanding that Trunp play by their rulevook and answer the same PC answers, then criticizing bumpkin Trump for his failure to proper feeding of Koi fish under imagined Jap protocols.

It is worth remembering that George Washington's well deserved "Father or our Country" moniker, was made not by the press, but by Robert E Lees ancestor, lighthorse Harry Lee's eulogy, First in War, First in Peace, and First in the Hearts of His Countrymen.

Like Fabius Maximus in Rome, another "Father of his Countey" who our modern day press knows shit about, Washington won that appelation not becaiuse of what the Press said but because of the what the Public knew, rwgardless of Press spin.

in my view, Trump, like Washington, know he plays on a world stage and the part he plays, and much like Washington's roll model Cinncinatus, he plays that roll knowing properly that he can create the future instead of limiting rhe future, as CNN's masters so severly wish to do.

-peter

daddy, I don't know the answer to your question about the joke for the punch-line but I remember about a skillion years ago that National Lampoon ran a piece about punch-lines for which there was no joke, the one that stands out being, "Okay, I'm the Pope, now get me out of this lasagna"

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Well said! Why we should let these dweebs in the press, who do not know (insert expletive here) about history, control our thinking, I do not know.

But because they are on TV, for some reason everyone listens to their opinions like they walk on water.

I am sticking with Trump and ignoring the CNN cabal.

derwill

Trump is the Commander in Chief. What he said was a show of support for the men and women who serve under him. Men who will risk their lives should he have to order them into harms way. Men who were ordered to risk their lives for the traitor and who obeyed those orders. If you've ever served in the military you will get how important what Trump said was to the men and women serving today and all the vets.
