I think Gingrich is closer to the truth on the tax cut than those who consider it irrelevant or nearly so.
Yes the top marginal rates should be cut, but cutting the corporate rate nearly in half will boost the economy meaningfully and doubling the personal exemption will be popular with voters.
If congress goes to the voters next year with what they have done, 300 nothingburgers, it could get ugly.
If the economy is still growing and they have the tax cut under their belt then I think they keep both houses.
But again, history says the large majority of off year elections favor the party out of power. It's just the way it is.

anon "possible that the House could possibly go to nominal Democrat control, if Trump supporters are not motivated to get out and vote. And yes, if that happens, articles of impeachment will be voted on. Bank that one."

The most direct way to avoid that would be (would have been) for the House to support the MAGA agenda right out of the box, rather than pretending Trump was not elected and that Paul Ryan might be President.

As that did not and likely will not happen, it is hard to get Trump voters to walk over glass and fire to go vote for U-R Never Trump swamp critters. For example: Ed Gillespie.

Iggy, if the tax bill just had your two points (Corp rates from 35 to 20 plus Personal Deduction doubled) then you would have a point. But that will not happen because the way they "score" things, that will never ever pay for itself and thus can only come with a gazillion offsetting little tricks to claw back more tax revenue. And in doing that, the exquisite clarity of your two items will be lost in the woods, and there will be so many people who will be both confused and probably taxed more, or will fear that they will be taxed more...that no good will come from it.

at a bare minimum, even if the Congressional GOP didn't want to sign on 100% to the MAGA agenda, they could have tried the novel strategy of not actively undermining the President, slow-walking his nominees and trashing his supporters.

As to Koskinen's stink bomb heading out the door...what did you expect by leaving a known fox inside the hen house after Jan 20, 2017? I remain in the dark about Trump's logic in THAT one.

He's simply (and rather smartly, too) preparing the battlefield OL. You will profusely thank him later. But you have to allow these people to show their ass; otherwise, it will be very hard for average Americans to understand fully their duplicity.

Y'all may think some lessons weren't learned last night in Virginia but me thinks y'all are quite wrong about that. Trump's tweet was right on the money and drove home the point.

Ed Gillespie worked hard but did not embrace me or what I stand for. Don’t forget, Republicans won 4 out of 4 House seats, and with the economy doing record numbers, we will continue to win, even bigger than before!

They don't really have much of a choice: learn, or lose and GTFO !!! The coming indictments will totally change the narrative and, IMHO, will seriously signal the coming 2018 #MAGA wave.

Good post, anon.
Not yr fault, the campaign itself predicted "victory", didn't simply use words like optimistic, confident, energetic, and so on.

Worth noting a big Prog surge all across the country. The Dem hive is buzzing angrily. Eager to wreak vengeance. I can't believe the lame media is influencing anyone. Perhaps this is simply a local off-election. Or maybe there are hordes of big-Gov voters that were repulsed by HRC and now returning to the field of battle. We'll see...

RG "But you have to allow these people to show their ass; otherwise, it will be very hard for average Americans to understand fully their duplicity."

I know, I know...it just HURTS! As I said way above, that seems to be his strategy with his GOPe Congress too. We will know if he lets the Tax bill die.

New Thread: before I look...I wonder if we celebrate last year? Or wallow in the disappointments of yesterday.
