let me review. First the Dems were mad at Trump's cabinet picks for getting rid of too many civil servants slackers. Now they want to shut down the government and put all the slackers out of work.

certain words pop into my head: Make My Day.

The Repubs need to get this off the news before they release the FISA stuff to the public.

TK, that's my point. They don't. MFM will ignore what's important if they can.

Never another word should be said about the damn BMI. Absurd on its face at the outset, it is a perfect example of the craziness we have been subjected to by what are essentially "industries" inserting themselves *and* the heavy hand of government into our everyday life.

Can't help but think this memo is another Lucy's football that won't see the light of day.

Posted by: Another Bob | January 18, 2018 at 10:49 PM

Ha !!!

Another Bob, I'd say take another look at the timing of things. Looks rather promising, doesn't it? It appears to me Trump is daring the Democrats to double-down on stupid. And just in case they do, he has this memo to pound them with *and* the prospect of the single-most-consequential State of the Union address of our lifetime.

Lucy's football? You best think again.

In Hillary's case, "BMI" stands for "Bounce the Meat Inside the van."

Clarice Feldman

My supposition is the spying began about the time Trump secured the nomination and was not carefully concealed because the plotters were sure she'd win. when she lost they were desperate and revved up the game to get rid of him before they were discovered. If that's so Admiral Rogers played the most significant role--except of vourse for the voters.

Is it wrong that I see this as a good thing?

The collapse begins on Capitol Hill. In 2018, Congress’s failure to pass a budget leads to a 10-percent cut in federal discretionary spending in the Washington area. Contracting firms begin layoffs. The newly unemployed stop taking their clothes to the dry cleaner’s, dine out less often, and stop buying homes. With fewer customers, clothing boutiques and cocktail bars trim staff or shut down. As the dysfunction in Congress drags on, the government eliminates some 30,000 federal employees and contractors. The unemployment rate doubles. Spin studios in Bethesda go under, artisanal grocery stores in Dupont Circle close. New construction grinds to a halt; developers walk away from half-finished projects. Flowers at building entrances shrivel and die.

Lower tax receipts from declining property values force local governments to slash social services. School funding plummets just as more parents move their children from private academies to the public system. Young workers flee to faster-growing cities like Boston and Seattle. The nation’s capital is plunged into a deep recession with no end in sight

The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff, called the memo a "profoundly misleading set of talking points."

“[T]he Majority voted today on a party-line basis to grant House Members access to a profoundly misleading set of talking points drafted by Republican staff attacking the FBI and its handling of the investigation,” Schiff, D-Calif., in a statement. “Rife with factual inaccuracies and referencing highly classified materials that most of Republican Intelligence Committee members were forced to acknowledge they had never read, this is meant only to give Republican House members a distorted view of the FBI.
This may help carry White House water, but it is a deep disservice to our law enforcement professionals,” he continued.'

Whole Foods stores shut down and Aldi's packed; Yoga teachers selling apples on the streets; Eyebrow lacers forced to work in meaningful jobs; defense contractors crying in their martinis; Federal Bureau of Redundancy workers staying home; regulations not getting written.

Leftists activists set adrift; DREAMERs realizing they just got screwed by the Dems.

Thanks, Mom2two for posting that figure skating video - I hadn’t seen that team. Very impressive. As a former non-competitive figure skater (I was a test skater and ice dancer), I can assure you that the muscles that get worked the most consistently are the gluteal trio, which provide all of a skater’s power. There is a reason that skaters flip to skating backwards to build speed. The core creates the balance and allows the rapid changes in momentum and direction.

The new scoring system, brought into being after the SLC Olympic debacle, does a pretty good job of allocating points to skills (triple lutz gets a higher baseline than a triple flip because of difficulty of entry), and allocates bonus points for putting a jump or lift in the second half of a long program when the skater is more tired. It’s imperfect, but there is not as much room for subjective scoring as the 6.0 system.

I don’t watch skating anymore due to lack of cable and lack of family interest, but I will say that skaters are fierce athletes.

Tom Bowler

I don't read the Times. Don't want to give them a nickel. Especially with their latest attempt to rescue the Mueller investigation from destructing over the dossier.

I've been reading Simpson's testimony to the Senate Judiciary staff in which he makes the point that he and Steele decided they were obligated to go the the FBI to report a crime in process -- Trump conspiring with Russia to commit cyber crimes against the DNC. Steele made contact with the FBI in late June or early July 2016.

The first memo in the dossier describes Russia's extensive criminal cyber activity. The second dossier memo alleges an extensive conspiracy between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign to hack the DNC.

So what's the FBI going to respond to? A story from an Australian ambassador about single conversation with a drunk in a London bar, or a former British intelligence officer, a colleague from an allied country, reporting a crime and a national security threat?

From page 173 of the transcript of Simpson's testimony before the Senate Judiciary. Questioning is Heather Sawyer, Counsel for Senator Feinstein. Answering is Glenn Simpson:

Q. And at no point in that time between July -- the first week of July when he first met with the FBI and then mid to late September did you suggest to him that he should go back to the FBI?

A. Not that I recall. What I would -- what I believe I may have said was have you heard anything from the FBI because by then it was obvious there was a crime in progress. So I just was curious whether he'd heard back.

Q. And when you say it was obvious that there was a crime in progress, what specifically are you referencing?

A. Espionage. They were hacking into the computers of Democrats and think tanks. That's a computer crime.

Q. So the thing that was apparent was Russia or somebody had engaged in cyber intrusion and computer crimes?

A. Yes.

As far as I can tell, the dossier is the only thing that attempts to establish the conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. I don't recall if the theory had been publicly floated earlier than June 2016, so I'm not sure if the crime of espionage was cooked up by Simpson and Steele, or if they were manufacturing corroboration of the already existing theory. In either case, the dossier is clearly the stronger case for opening an FBI investigation than a single conversation with a drunken lower level campaign aid.

OT, I'm a bit leary of this memo Republicans are trying to get released to the full House only because I fear it may be too soon. I suppose there will be a steady drip drip of damning facts to come out between now and November, but we know the MFM will be ignoring them in favor of Stormy Daniels type stories.

My current take on this memo extravaganza is that it will turn out to be just a lot of back and forth talk about how stupid the public is and that the awesome dem. libs had to save us from Trump and ourselves. Probably alot of nasty deplorable comments but they HAD to save the country don't you know. Ties in nicely with all the preachy schmultz from Comey lately.

Tom R

So where is this memo? You know the one that id going to lead to everything............. If it was worth two s---s, it would have leaked by now.

The memo is apparently classified Top Secret and locked away in a SCIF. Any Congressman who leaks it to the press would be guilty of a federal crime. Much simpler to just wait a few days and get formal authorization from the White House to release the document.

 narcisoyea

Well that raises a question who classified it and for what reason. If it illustrates abuse of fisa and or other intercepted communications.

Bunky

Tom R: I say this with the utmost respect: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Are you kidding me?

P.S.: I'm sorry for being rude

Tom Bowler

I think that nothing in the dossier has been confirmed. Steele wouldn't affirm its veracity with that libel suit he faces and the prospect that he would be jailed for perjury if he did. And Simpson in his testimony wouldn't confirm it either:

“Q. Then similarly with what I have -- and I'm just doing it in the order that it was Bates-stamped and appeared on BuzzFeed -- there's a two-page report and it bears the Bates Nos. 41397 and 41398 and it has a company report number 2016/095. This one has the title "Russia/U.S. Presidential Election, Further Indications of Extensive Conspiracy Between Trump's Campaign Team and the Kremlin." Did you do any independent verification of these facts?

A. I did some work on aspects of this. We were separately -- you know, my team and myself were separately investigating various things in here. So I can't talk about this as a verification, but I was analyzing this.”

And later:

“Q. Did you feel in the course of that that you had uncovered evidence of any criminal activity by Donald Trump?

A. In the course of that I don't think so. I think my concern was the associations with known organized crime figures.”

Still later:

“Q. Did you reach any conclusions based on your review of his tax bills? I think you mentioned that in connection with trying to assess either financial connections or his financial standing. Did you reach any conclusions with regard to either of those?

A. Yes. I concluded -- we concluded that his statements about what individual properties were worth were greatly exaggerated and at odds with the information that he'd supplied, you know, in legal filings with tax authorities and other records, corporate records.”

There is nothing there. Under oath neither Simpson nor Steele will say that they found confirmation of any criminal activity.

Yet the MFM is pulling out all the stops to resuscitate the Mueller investigation. It's astonishing and you can barely keep up with it.

Sorry about leaving out the page numbers in the testimony but the excerpts start around page 234.

exdemocrat

I imagine the memo's source materials need to be released too, to make sense of it - many of which may well be classified

Jack is Back!

It the memo is a summary with sources of the material the DoJ, FBI and other IC members provided the Committee, then the memo itself has to receive the same classification as the highest level of the sources.

I believe this memo may be dealing with all the stuff Nunes and staff had to review in one of the IC's SCIF. If so, its probably compartmentalized. And who is the memo adress to? File?

Developing: Senate Minority Leader Schumer departs White House after meeting with Trump about potential government shutdown

Tom R

Well that raises a question who classified it and for what reason. If it illustrates abuse of fisa and or other intercepted communications.

Here are the criteria for classification levels.

(1) "Top Secret" shall be applied to information, the unauthorized disclosure of which reasonably could be expected to cause exceptionally grave damage to the national security.

(2) "Secret" shall be applied to information, the unauthorized disclosure of which reasonably could be expected to cause serious damage to the national security.

(3) "Confidential" shall be applied to information, the unauthorized disclosure of which reasonably could be expected to cause damage to the national security.

The difference is "grave damage to national security" versus "serious damage to national security"

I would not be surprised at all that someone very high in Obama's FBI or DOJ with the authority to classify documents decided that the info was "Top Secret" because the info was a grave danger to the future of the Democrat party if their crimes were ever uncovered.
