Captain Hate

Since John Edwards's nutty mistress did work for his campaign, I think the situations are a bit different

jimmyk

From the end of the last thread:
Really? Trump's first two years have been the most successful of any presidency in my lifetime to include Reagan's. What exactly are you referring to when you say "suck the oxygen out"?

Tom R, if what you say is true, there would be no talk of Republicans losing the House and/or Senate. Do you really want to claim that the circus atmosphere of this investigation, particularly in the way it feeds the anti-Trump media frenzy, has had and will have no adverse impact on Trump's ability to succeed? How much will he be able to do if he loses the House?

Jane

Why don't we call it like it is. Stormy is blackmailing Trump and should be charged.

Tom R

Why in the world would Trump allow a white hat guy like Mueller pretend to be a black hat guy so that Mueller could suck the oxygen out of Trump's first two years

Really? Trump's first two years have been the most successful of any presidency in my lifetime to include Reagan's. What exactly are you referring to when you say "suck the oxygen out"?

When I was in the Army this book by Liddell Hart was required reading.

https://www.amazon.com/Strategy-Indirect-Approach-Liddell-Hart/dp/1376202417/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1525455779&sr=8-1&keywords=the+indirect+approach&dpID=31G6fD38b%252BL&preST=_SY291_BO1,204,203,200_QL40_&dpSrc=srch

Example of direct approach: Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg (tactical failure)

Example of indirect approach: Stonewall Jackson's Valley campaign (tactical success)

The point is Trump is using the Indirect Approach while a lot of you guys seem to be favoring the Direct Approach. Keep in mind who is closest advisors are.

Captain Hate

I think Trump is proving that being an effective President isn't nearly as difficult for a businessman as the Uniparty had people believing. The housecleaning that could produce, and has already started, is great for the country.

narciso

But is there any evidence, troof as rush has had Manny Davis saying, that these events actually happened? She has 10 million reasons to assert.

Tom R

Tom R, if what you say is true, there would be no talk of Republicans losing the House and/or Senate.

Who really believes there is going to be a Blue Wave? Even CPT H mentioned earlier today he hasn't seen anything like this since Reagan. There is simply no way any moderate/independent swing voter who is of sound mind could be stupid enough to believe all the anti-Trump leftwing Democrat talking points.

IMO if the midterms were held today tomorrow we would be talking about a MAGA tidal wave where the GOP gained seats in both the Senate and House.

Or make up your own rationale! What, I'm the only fiction writer here?

Nah, RG's writing that novel! Just kidding RG, we won't rub it in...too much.

Tom R

CH,

I saw your apology in the other thread. I accept it and offer you mine in return. We are on the same team. Lets point our bayonets in the same direction towards those trying to destroy Trump.

Jane:
Exactly right.
Yet she and her lawyer are heroes to the Left.
She gets more gigs and and free publicity and someone is paying her legal bills.
Common sense says to me that Mueller is not on the side of President Trump and is botching this investigation like he has done all the rest of them.
Agree with Guiliani’s assessment.
Deep State afraid of Rudy.
Price their fake news report about wiretapping Cohen’s phone.
They need to deflect and change the subject every time the real truth is revealed.
Jimmyk has summarized The GroundHog Day aspect of this whole investigation accurately.
I think the biggest concern of posters here is when namecalling diminishes respect and attempts to diminish the person rather than the argument.
Just my opinion.

jimmyk

Tom R, there doesn't need to be a "blue wave" for Rs to lose the House. Just a typical off-year reversal. Trump needs to have enough support to counter that. And a lot more can happen in the next six months to confuse LIVs into thinking Trump is damaged goods.

Is your last sentence based on any actual data or are you just guessing?

Re the media frenzy, from Althouse

Miss Marple the Deplorable

Tom R.,

The joke here in Indiana is that the 3-way GOP senate debate had all 3 mentioning how close they were to Trump in every other sentence.

I don't see a blue wave, either. I think it was simply drummed up to get donors to open their wallets for dem candidates.

jimmyk

And by "your last sentence" I'm referring of course to your 2:03 post:

IMO if the midterms were held today tomorrow we would be talking about a MAGA tidal wave where the GOP gained seats in both the Senate and House.

Now if you want to make a comparison, consider Henry Cisneros, his long time mistress sued him because he cut off payments. That prompted the FBI investigation which led to the special counsel, which led nowhere.

Tom R

jimmyk,

The graphic of those articles you pasted in look like they are from the WAPO. Aside from other leftwing progressives and Never Trumper types, who do you think the targeted audience is for those anti-Trump rants?

BTW my opinion is based on current Rasmussen poll as well as the Generic Congressional polls that show Democrats will a slim overall lead. When you factor in the standard Democrat oversample as well voter turnout, I think any candidate who supports Trump's MAGA agenda is almost certainly going to win. Voters tend to vote with their wallet. Who would vote against the tax cuts, the economic boom, etc?

clarice feldman

Among the intersting bite in the Rueters report of the Manafort hearing- The judge asks why rosenstein who'd be a witness in the obstruction case is not recused from overseeing Mueller. Bingo. Sessions may not have to fire him--he might be forced to hand over the portfolio to someone else .

Pinandpuller

Trump was allowed to spend as much of his own money as he wanted to try to influence the election.

JM Hanes

Tom R:

"Not fully clear on your point. None of us know with any degree of certainty if Horowitz and Mueller are working together. There are tidbits of evidence that lead to that conclusion but no one can say for certain."

There's a point at which optimism and wishful thinking make no logical sense, but apparently you're not there yet.

Jane

Gee Clarice, that makes me want the hearing to go forward. Where else can we bring that up?

Eye Doctor

Tom R, Mueller is complicit in the Uranium One scandal! Is that to be ignored?

Tom R

One last thing before I head out to watch my son's baseball game.

There is one other clear sign Mueller and Rosenstein are working with Trump: Trump hasn't given either of them a mocking nickname on Twitter yet. That is something he has done for pretty much every one of his political opponents.

When Trump starts using a nickname for Mueller and Rosenstein, that will be when you need to make some more room on the Ledge for me.

Tom R

Tom R, Mueller is complicit in the Uranium One scandal! Is that to be ignored?

How so? The uranium Mueller hand-delivered to Russia was stolen from them in the first place. At the request of the Russians, the US returned a small sample of it so that forensic testing could be done on it to verify the sample belonged to the Russians.

Eye Doctor

Tom R, so are going to ignore Mueller's complicity in Uranium One.

Thomas Collins

Re the judge's comment, clarice: I don't think there will be a criminal case. This is all kabuki in preparation for Mueller's report to serve as the basis of impeaching Trump in the House. If that happens, it would seem to me that in the Senate trial, the presiding judge, Chief Justice Roberts, wide discretion as to allowing witness testimony.

I appreciate the judge's concern, however, because the judge can't assume the only trial, if one occurs, would be an impeachment trial in the Senate.

And if the Dems do take over the House, there will be an impeachment trial, and those critters who get elected on pledges to be moderate Dems will fall right in line with Speaker Pelosi to vote for impeachment.

We haven't even seen the unveiling of either side's brass knuckles yet.

Eye Doctor

Tom R, it was Mueller that silenced Campbell

Thomas Collins

Make that would have wide discretion.

TC " This is all kabuki in preparation for Mueller's report to serve as the basis of impeaching Trump in the House. "

But Clarice said that Mueller does not get to write a report except for the DAG.

If Mueller and his gang of 16 Clintonistas (vs zero) are just using tax dollars and police powers or worse to compile an Impeachment Charge, then tell me again how that is so good for Trump that Mueller & Rosenstein are White Hats?

Huh?

TK:

She writes well. The Davod comparison is apt.

Making a big thing about Stormy Daniels is the wrong hill, in my own opinion. The charge is mickey mouse and a function of not following the exact right steps in the exact right order. You fine a campaign over foot faults like that. You don't try to impeach or jail people.

I get being repelled by Trump. I also get not wanting to listen to people being repelled by Trump all day long. ;)

Thomas Collins

DAG can make the report public, OL, and I suspect DAG Rosenstein (or whoever is DAG when the report comes out) will make it public.

Beasts of England

The only way this could be more entertaining is if Tom R were really Danube... ;)

jimmyk

Of course if Trump did start using a mocking nickname for Mueller and Rosenstein on Twitter that would just be further evidence that they are really working for Trump, because Trump would need to pretend otherwise by mocking them.

See, that's how this game works. :)

Davod

" Will be decided in the Sup CT" But who in the SCOTUS will be left when the METOO movement has finished with them.

maryrose

OL:
You are absolutely correct in all of your posts.
This sedition and treason could have been uncovered via FOIA requests and by Tom Fitton and his group.
No need to put President Trump through this phony investigation.
He had presidential power to fire Comey whenever he wanted to.
Rosenstein should be tired by Sessions for his arrogance and disrespect of Congress and for trying to conceal valuable documents from public view.
This was the practice during the Obama reign of terror.Comey should have been fired day 1 for botching the Hillary email investigation.

PDinDetroit

Pinandpuller - welcome fellow Open Carrier.

Iggy - Congrats on finding a woman of character that can capture your eye and your heart. You deserve greatness.

President Trump needs to tell Mueller and company to stick it where the sun don't shine. Love the judge that gave them a beatdown today.

Migraine update: got some relief from the hospital stay, ended Sunday evening, still will go inpatient sometimes next week to completely break the pain cycle. I was able to till the vegetable garden once and we have most of the veggies we are going to plant. I was also able to be effective at my career and will be with a new client in June 2018.

Side note: There were 5 baby bunnies in the 21'x21'veggie garden that I discovered and relocated this week. The eyes are open and ears are up, meaning they can survive on their own. The momma bunny came back last night, surprising that we saw her. We have not had many bunnies in the area for about 3 years, so I would gladly share with them.

Mad Jack

TC: If Ellis dismisses the manafort charges, most likely because Mueller won't give him a clean copy of his marching orders, don't you think that will be a major black eye for Mueller? It will put major heat on Mueller and Rosenstein to put up or shut down.

That's what I'm hoping for, Mad Jack. However, dismissal won't prevent Mueller from writing up a report that Rosenstein will release, or a report that will be leaked. There are enough Dems and GOPers who want Trump out that even if Mueller needs to shut down his operation, the impeachment option will still be pursued by the coup plotters.

Smart comment on T_D about the NRA speech happening now:

[–]Trevor3111 33 points 14 minutes ago*

Do you folks want to know WHY POTUS took so long to talk about guns? I'll tell you.

I'm watching CNBC right now. Guess what they covered the whole time?

POTUS discussing all his incredible achievements to high applause. AND POTUS mocking NBC and fake news.

Now. Guess when they STOPPED covering the speech and IMMEDIATELY cut away? When POTUS started talking about guns.

Yes. Literally 60 seconds after POTUS said "Let's talk about guns, shall we?", CNBC cut away.

THAT is why POTUS took so long to talk about guns.

He KNEW that if he started with guns, these worthless shitheads in the media would never have covered his speech. By bringing up guns later, he got these worthless slimeballs to be forced into covering his own criticism of them, his tremendous achievement and to have to cover just how many people support POTUS.

The whole time they covered it, CNBC also had to have a chyron running that said the Dow was up at session highs during his speech.

Don't underestimate this man.

Mad Jack

TC: A report was going to be written in any event so that will have to be dealt with in due course but shutting Mueller down now will at least be the beginning of the end. Innuendo from a tainted javert will not add up to much.

Patterico isn't a good person. Maybe he was at some point but something, maybe he who shall not be named, changed him. Looking at his posts and comments now are painful, like an anthropological study of a tribe of retards. It's like what LGF turned into where you just felt unclean being part of it. Or like what that asshole Treacher became one drunken pill popping night when he trashed everyone at AoS in terms offensive even to me and then I got lectured about how I should cut him the poor guy some slack; obviously that didn't go well.

New Jersey passes law to treat property tax as charitable contribution

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy signed a law Friday that will allow homeowners in the state to declare property taxes as charitable donations. The state law, which had broad bipartisan support in the state, was in response to the tax-law changes passed late last year by congressional Republicans, which capped the state and local tax deductions in federal filings at $10,000. Governors in higher-tax, higher-property-value states, most of whom are Democrats, had vowed to fight the law by coming up with workarounds like the one adopted in New Jersey. At the time, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called the tax law "economic civil war." On Friday, Murphy, also a Democrat, said of the federal legislation, "It is divisive, it is wrong, and we will continue to fight." In fact, many legal and tax analysts believe New Jersey will have to fight the IRS in court after taking this step. The law will allow property owners to donate up to 90% of their tax bill to charitable funds set up by municipalities in exchange for tax credits.
clarice feldman

I agree about those questions, jimmyk.

exdemocrat,

It's not.

This started because the democrats were certain that this woman would make evangelicals desert President Trump, maybe even force him to resign.

Evangelicals aren't stupid and didn't take the bait.

I haven't been to Patterico in a very long time but today after reading CH's remarks about "Cassandra" I went over to have a peak. What a sewer that guy runs and he is supposed to be an ADA in California? If I am a defense counsel on any of his cases, using that website could easily disqualify him from prosecuting. Unless, the reference to "get a new job, yet" may mean he is out of that job.

Anyone know?
