Yesterday when I was reviewing my memory of our instructor in SERE School, the Enlisted Navy POW who was sharp enough to have memorized hundreds of names of his fellow prisoners in Hanoi, I came across lots of articles that explained that the way he got away with so much info from underneath the prying eyes of the Prison Guards, was by playing such an idiot that the Vietnamese wound up calling him "The incredibly Stupid One." This reminds me of something very odd that popped into my head.

A long time ago, back during the Clinton presidency, I took a job at a catalog order center for Brylane. When entering, I had to walk through the warehouse, where almost all of the alterations people were Chinese nationals who spoke very little English.

About this same time period, we had a lot of new Chinese restaurants open on my side of Indy. I couldn't figure out where the immigrants got the money to start businesses almost as soon as they got off the boat.

The Chinese call their intelligence MO "Thousand Grains of Sand." Now, if you opened a restaurant near, for example, Eli Lilly, couldn't you pick up information on pharmaceutical research?

It just always seemed strange to me that we had this sudden influx of Chinese.

Food stamp abuse. There are two kinds. The first is merchants who will allow you to buy proscribed items at the normal price. Say cigarettes at a normal price. These people never get turned in for investigation. Why? They are carefully covered by the people who use their services. A fair, yet illegal trade is fair. Nobody, but the government has been ripped off.

Who gets busted - the people who offer 50 cents on the dollar for a transaction.

It's a rip-off and people complain about it. People take advantage of it, yet hate it. So they talk. You can go here to get 50 cents on a dollar. And the complaints grow. That kind of talk gets picked up by investigators. They do an undercover buy and that merchant is toast.

Moral of the story - give full value and you're golden, because no one will report you for that - cheat people - they have no loyalty and lots of animosity toward you.

It is fascinating, Miss Marple.

He was a wonderful guy to listen to, relating for the dozen of us in class his experiences and he was always happy to share them with us as we were a very eager audience. Of interest is that the Air Force guy, Joe Crecca, who prompted him to come up with a memory technique to help do the memorizing---(Old MacDonald Had a Farm)--- wound up being a Fedex pilot and I flew with him a few times before his retirement, (another wonderful guy) but I don't believe I knew he had worked with Hegdahl to accomplish that feat of memory.

The little I've read in the last 2 days says that Hegdahl (a Navy kid) got a kick out of Crecca (an Air Force puke) making him memorize all the Air Force guys names first:) And the literature also says that Hegdahl fought against being released early since he considered it shameful, so Stratton, who was his eventual roommate and way Senior to him, ordered him as his Senior Officer to leave early since he knew how valuable it was to get Hegdahls' memorized information back to the Pentagon, so he reluctantly but dutifully obeyed that Lawful Order. Amazing stuff!

It has occurred to me of late that most of all of our posts, even when we learn a new tidbit or two, and even when one of us offers an insightful or clever analysis...that we are stuck in a twilight zone where both sides are spiraling downward stuck on the memes of each side.

And nothing ever changes. The Swamp has not been drained nor the Constitution restored, Trump has not been impeached and Constitutional sinners have not been punished. Personally my feelings for most on the left is now solidly in the "hate" range, and obviously they think the same of me and my friends.

And here we are for the umpteenth time hoping that the NEXT election will lead to our salvation.

By now we know each other so well that it is very easy to just skim lightly through the posts since we know very well what each of us thinks about most things. (Like the old joke about prisoners shouting out the number for each joke to save time since none of them have any new jokes to offer up.)

It occurred to me the other day that JOM is sort of like the community post office here in my village on Nantucket. Our village does not have and will never agree to home delivery of US Mail because for way more than 100 years, going to the PO Box is how we stay in tough with our neighbors, and especially in winter when there are so few inhabitants, the Post Office is where neighbors perform "wellness checks" on the other winter residents. Just ask the Post Mistress if Sally has come in yet today, etc.

Thus it is, I am finding, with JOM, as we drift through the Twightlight Zone wondering what the hell is to become of us and our country.

Regarding the “imaged” hard drive (Typically way behind so hope this has all been solved).
The “hack” supposedly was done in June 2016. Crowdstrike asserts that it immediately installed protection to prohibit further hacks. The image the FBI examined contained supposedly shows evidence that the drive was still being hacked over three months later in October.
IANAL conclusions/notes from Sid:

a.) The image was taken over three months after the alleged breach,

b.) DNC (Crowdstrike) had made significant modifications to the server before it was imaged, and,

c.) MM post last evening 4:20 PM (where I am now) Mueller says the image FBI got was not a “workable mirror” of the hard drive.

My conclusion:

Mueller is on thin ice? Don’t see how this altered image can be used as evidence since three months had expired and the DNC (Crowdstrike) admits it is not the same as the breached server. I will lay odds that the image provided by DNC had most of the data removed prior to the final copy was made for FBI.
